Chapter 9 Brothers
Ino Commercial Plaza is located at the junction of three communities.
The little fat man and the white girl did not enter the Eno community on the west side, but went to the Kalai community on the south side.
After a few minutes, the girl walked to the door of a gray-roofed villa and waved goodbye to the little fat man.
The little fat man stood at the door and giggled, watching the girl go home.
It took the girl a while before the fat man turned around and left.
After walking a few steps, he noticed a black Harley-Davidson motorcycle in the distance. A young man with black hair looked at him with a faint smile.
The little fat man hesitated for a while, perhaps because of his guilty conscience, and took the initiative to say hello with a smile on his face, "Wow, what a coincidence, why are you here?"
Luke lit a cigarette and took a puff, "Is that your girlfriend?"
"No, we are just classmates, don't talk nonsense." The little fat man immediately denied it.
"I saw you drinking milk tea with the same straw. Do you and your classmates do this?"
The little fat man said angrily, "Are you following me?"
"It seems I guessed it right, you really have a girlfriend."
"Are you deceiving me?"
"I am concerned about you. You are too young. Falling in love now will affect your studies."
"Did I hear wrongly? You actually care about me. The sun rises from the west?"
Luke blew out a puff of smoke and said, "Watch the way you speak, I'm your brother."
"So what? You are not my guardian."
"You are right, I should tell my mother about this and congratulate her in advance on having a grandson."
"We just started dating and haven't done anything like that yet. Don't tell mom about this." The little fat man said with a hint of pleading in his tone.
Luke didn't want to get into too much of a quarrel with his brother. After all, he still had to stay in that home temporarily. "OK, if you want me to keep it a secret, you have to agree to a condition."
"Yeah, I understand." The little fat man looked like he had known this before, took out a handful of money from his pocket and handed it to Luke.
Luke looked confused, "What do you mean?"
"Come on, this is all my pocket money." Although the little fat man looked reluctant to give up, he still put the money into Luke's hands, his movements were so skillful that it made people feel heartbroken.
Luke counted it and found a total of $126.
"We have reached an agreement, huh." The little fat man shrugged and turned to leave.
"etc."
"You defrauded me of all the money my dad gave me during the Chinese New Year. This is all I have." The fat man's eyes were red and his voice was choked with sobs.
Luke took out another four hundred dollars from his pocket and dropped the $526 into the little fat man's hand.
"What do you mean?" Now it was the little fat man's turn to be confused.
"Return your New Year's money."
"Are you serious?"
"Don't forget it."
"No no no! I was just too surprised." The little fat man took back the money in his hand and counted it carefully, "You only took away three hundred dollars from me, why did you give me an extra dollar?"
"That's pocket money for you."
"Oh my God, I'm not dreaming." The little fat man slapped himself, the sound was clear and clear, and there was an obvious red mark on his face.
"I'm not dreaming. I still can't believe it." The little fat man was stunned for a while before he remembered something, "You just said you wanted me to agree to a condition, what was it?"
Luke said, "Don't call me a bastard again."
"Oh...how did you know?" The little fat man felt guilty. He had been defrauded of all his New Year's money. He had indeed called Luke a bastard behind his back, but he was afraid of being beaten and would never say it to his face.
"I'm a police officer."
"I can guarantee that the words brother and bastard are like two parallel lines that will never intersect again."
Luke put on his helmet and said, "Good, get in the car."
"I've wanted to try it for a long time, but this is the first time you invite me." The little fat man sat on the back seat of the motorcycle, and the tire was obviously flat.
Luke turned the throttle, and the Harley roared.
The little fat man looked eager to try, "You know what? I would rather drive a Harley myself than sit in the back."
Luke smiled and said, "Just keep thinking."
…
Saturday morning.
Detective Bureau.
At nine o'clock in the morning, Luke arrived at the Robbery and Murder Department on time.
The atmosphere in the office is a bit depressing.
David glanced at Luke, "I thought you wouldn't come today."
Under normal circumstances, if there are no urgent cases at hand, agents can take Saturdays and Sundays off.
If there is a case to be investigated, it can only be suspended.
Luke did debate whether to come today or not. Whether it was out of a sense of police responsibility or simply being interested in the case, he came anyway.
"There were no new cases last night?"
David shrugged, "I haven't received any news yet."
Deputy Vincent said, "If there is no news, it is good news."
Raymond looked at the clock on the wall, "The first two 'Taser robberies' were committed on Friday night, before one o'clock in the morning.
But we haven’t received any police information today, so it’s possible that the suspect didn’t commit the crime last night.”
Deputy Vincent picked up a comb and combed his sparse silver hair, "The suspect left the word 'youlike' in blood at the scene. It was obvious that he was provoking the police, and he would never stop easily.
He will definitely commit another crime."
Luke took advantage of the situation and said, "Did the suspect change the time or method of committing the crime?"
Deputy Vincent thought for a while, "The suspect's characteristics are very obvious. I personally think it is unlikely to change."
Jenny turned the carbon pen in her hand, "There is also a possibility that the suspect committed another crime last night, but the victim did not choose to call the police for some reason."
Vice Captain Vincent snapped his fingers, "Bingou, I think this is more likely.
The suspects always choose remote locations when committing crimes, and it is possible that no one else will notice the victim before he wakes up.
Moreover, although the suspects stole all the property and clothing, the actual economic losses were not large, and most people did not take too much property with them.
On the contrary, being stripped naked was even more unacceptable.
Some women are ashamed to speak up after encountering such things and may choose to remain silent."
Jenny said, "Although I am also a woman and can understand their situation, I still feel that they are condoning crime."
"Creak..."
The door to the Robbery and Murder Division office was pushed open, and Marcus, a black man, walked in, wearing a gold chain around his neck and a police badge hanging under the chain, looking very coquettish.
"Hey guys, I'm here!"
Deputy Vincent pointed to the clock on the wall, "You're late."
"Come on, I stayed up all night to investigate the case. You shouldn't treat a person like this who works hard and devotes everything to the police."
Deputy Vincent snorted, "You smooth-tongued boy, you'd better bring some useful clues."
ten minutes later.
meeting room.
Captain Susan sat at the head of the conference table and asked with a serious face, "Marcus, tell me about your investigation."
Marcus took a big sip of coffee, put down the coffee cup and said, "Jenny, put two pieces of sugar for me next time, thank you."
Jenny gave the middle finger directly back.
Marcus chuckled, "Yesterday, I contacted some friends in the gang and asked them to help investigate clues about the 'Postman'.
This guy is elusive and hard to find.
It took me a lot of money to find out about him. He is a firearms expert. He can modify pistols, rifles, sniper rifles, and Taser guns.
This guy is simply a genius.
I showed him photos of modified Tasers, and he admitted that he had modified the guns. He had modified a total of five Tasers and placed them on consignment in three gun stores.
Joeway Gun Store is one of them."
Susan asked, "What is the real name of the 'postman'? Why not take him to the police station for investigation?"
Marcus said, "I made a promise to my friends in the gang that I wouldn't touch him, so I could find out the information.
If I catch him, no one will help me in similar situations in the future."
Susan asked, "How do you know what he said is true? If he is deceiving you? He may even be an accessory."
Marcus said, "I abide by the rules, and he must abide by the rules too. If he lies, he will die miserably."
Susan frowned slightly, the atmosphere in the conference room was a bit awkward.
Deputy Captain Vincent reminded in a low voice, "Captain, the focus now is to catch the murderer.
This is not the Ministry of Internal Affairs... If you insist on those rules and regulations, it will only make the investigation of the case more difficult."
"I know this is not the Ministry of Internal Affairs." Susan asked, "Then do you know why the director asked me, the director of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, to take over the position of captain?"
