Compared with the battles in the past few days, in addition to fierce air strikes and strong artillery fire suppression, the joint combat between armored assault forces and air assault forces has become the biggest highlight.

The 1511th Air Brigade of Air Force was dispatched again and encircled the gap between the 7th Panzer Division and the 24th Infantry Division at an extremely fast speed, laying the foundation for the final annihilation of the 7th Panzer Division.

At 17:00 on the 24th, the last round of annihilation war began.

The 2711th Armored Brigade and the 273rd Armored Brigade attacked the 7th Armored Division of the Vietnamese Army from the west and north respectively. The 1611th Air Brigade was responsible for low-altitude support and tactical interweaving, while the 151st Air Brigade was responsible for defending the "gate" and preventing the 7th Armored Division from breaking through.

Because the battle took place at night, the war correspondents failed to capture many thrilling battle scenes.

Judging from the end of the battle in the early morning of the 25th, the 7th Panzer Division of the Vietnam Army was very tenacious.

There is nothing strange about it. The 7th Armored Division is the largest and most powerful armored unit in the Vietnamese Army. It is a "strategic force" in the Vietnamese army. The entire division has 2 tank regiments, 2 mechanized infantry regiments, 1 infantry regiment, 1 artillery regiment, and several division-level battalion-level units. That night, the Air Force dispatched a total of 577 combat aircraft, providing 1,263 air support to the ground forces, and only two attack aircraft brigades deployed in Simao and Jinghong (each equipment o attack).

In the battle on the 24th, the most difficult one was definitely the airborne 153rd Brigade.

Because the other brigades have to encircle and annihilate the 211th Infantry Division and the 7th Armored Division, the 152nd Airborne 152 needs to defend the "South Gate", so the 153rd Airborne brigade must defend the "South Gate" alone. By the early morning of the 25th, less than 1c00 officers and soldiers who were still able to fight were airborne by the 153rd Brigade.

Fortunately, the annihilation war was about to end, and the low-altitude strike troops of the 1511th Brigade of the Air Turkish 1511th Brigade arrived in Nonghei first, eliminating dozens of tanks and infantry fighting vehicles of the 5th Panzer Division of the Vietnamese Army. The reinforcements of the 1611th Brigade of the Air Turkish 1611th Brigade also arrived quickly and repelled a round of attacks of the 27th Infantry Division of the Vietnamese Army for the 151st Brigade.

Later, Li Dongshi and a group of officers and soldiers who were airborne in the 153rd Brigade were awarded the "Special Combat Merit" medal for their outstanding performance in the battle that night.

Compared with the 153rd Airborne Brigade, the pressure on the 152nd Airborne Brigade is slightly smaller.

Because the road to break south was even more rugged, it only hit a wall in Nonghei on the 23rd, and nearly half of its troops were eliminated. The 23rd Infantry Division of the Vietnamese Army broke south.

Faced with the 23rd Infantry Division, which had less than 600 forces left, the 152nd Air Force Brigade completed its combat mission very easily.

At the end of the "Nankang-South Russia Annihilation War", the 7th Armored Division and the 211th Infantry Division were all annihilated, the 23rd Infantry Division was broken up, the 5th Armored Division and the 24th Infantry Division suffered heavy damage, and the 27th Infantry Division was reduced by about one-third. During the entire battle, a total of 17,238 Vietnamese officers and soldiers were killed, 24,384 were captured, and one was missing (except for a few fleeing into the mountains, most of the missing people died of bombing and artillery). At this point, more than half of the Vietnamese combat forces trapped in Laos were lost.

The Republic's Army also paid a huge price for this.

The biggest loss was the airborne 153 Brigade. The total number of officers and soldiers of the entire brigade was killed, 1374 were injured, and 27 were missing (9 were later confirmed to be captured); 1511 Brigade of Air Turkish was killed, 9 were injured, and 17 were missing (it was later confirmed to be killed), 73 officers and soldiers of Air Turkish, 2311 were injured, and 2 were missing (it was later returned), 1c3 officers and soldiers of Air Turkish, 323 were injured, and 19 were missing (it was later confirmed to be killed), 273 officers and soldiers of Armored 2711 Brigade were injured, and 542 were injured, and 177 officers and soldiers of Air Turkish, and 286 were injured. Although the number of casualties is not large compared to the number of enemy annihilation, such a huge number of casualties is enough to illustrate the problem.

When summarizing the lessons of the battle, Xiang Yinghui clearly mentioned the most prominent problem: the lack of support firepower.

Almost all participating troops have this problem. In the lightweight and rapid reform, the rapid assault capabilities of heavy armored troops such as the 2711th Armored Brigade have been significantly improved, but the lightweight troops are not equipped with sufficient support firepower. Taking the 153rd Airborne Brigade as an example, if some lightweight large-caliber artillery can be available, the casualties will definitely be much lower.

Many of the losses of the 153rd Air Force Brigade were caused by the lack of ammunition and drug resources. If the army had strong air transportation capabilities, it could provide sufficient support to the 153rd Air Force Brigade, so that officers and soldiers would not have to worry about insufficient ammunition in combat, so as to maximize the combat effectiveness of the airborne troops and reduce unnecessary casualties and losses.
