Volume 5 Zhongnan Storm Chapter 26 Battle of Destruction (1160 explosions, ask for a monthly ticket)
In the early morning of the day, the fourth day of the war in Laos against rebellion.
After 24 to 20 hours of fierce battle, the "Nankang-South Russia Annihilation Battle" ended. Under the joint attack of the 271st Armored Brigade, the 273rd Armored Brigade, the 1511th Air Turkish Brigade and the 1611th Air Turkish Brigade, the 211th Infantry Division and the 7th Armored Division of the Vietnamese Army between the Nankang River and the Nankang River were completely annihilated.
The news channel of the Republic International Radio and Television Station conducted a full-time follow-up report on the battle.
Compared with the battles in the past few days, in addition to fierce air strikes and strong artillery fire suppression, the joint combat between armored assault forces and air assault forces has become the biggest highlight.
In the past decades, the people of the Republic had to learn about the joint US military's assault operations through news and television programs.
From the first show of its might in the Vietnam War, to the great power of the Gulf War, to the Iraq War and the Afghan War becoming the main offensive force, the US air assault forces have been at the forefront of the world. This time, the Republic's Army used its wonderful performances to prove that the reputation of "King of Land Warfare" is not a false reputation.
In the battle, the real protagonist is not the 2711th Armored Brigade, but the 1511th Air Assault Brigade.
The battle interspersed, tactical division, deep assault, roundabout encirclement, and the 1511th Brigade of the Air Blast showed extremely strong combat power and extremely fast mobility on the battlefield.
The annihilation battle had just begun, and the 151st Brigade of the Air Crown divided the 211th Infantry Division and the 7th Armored Division of the Vietnamese Army through three battles.
Subsequently, the low-altitude strike force of the 1511th Air Brigade covered the 2711th Armored Brigade and attacked the 211th Infantry Division in the east, annihilated the enemy's name within an hour and captured the remaining enemy's name. During the attack, the tactical division of the 1511th Air Brigade played a very critical role, not only providing strong support to the 271st Armored Brigade, but also fought three annihilation battles alone, capturing nearly a thousand Vietnamese officers and soldiers.
After opening a gap on the Vietnamese defense line, the annihilation war began in full swing.
As the 273rd Brigade of the Air and the 1611 Brigade of the Air and the 1611 Brigade of the Air and the 1511 Brigade of the Air and the 1511 Brigade of the Air and the 1511 Brigade of the Air and the 1511 Brigade of the Air and the 1511 Brigade of the Air and the 1511 Brigade of the Air and the 1511 Brigade of the Air and the 1511 Brigade of the Air and the 1511 Brigade of the Air and the 1511 Brigade of the Air and the 1511 Brigade of the Air and the 1611 Brigade of the Air and the 1611 Brigade of the Air and the 1611 Brigade of the Air and the 1611 Brigade of the Air and the 1611 Brigade of the Air and the 1611 Bri
"Deep Assault" is a good example of the air assault forces.
Using helicopters as a carrier. The 1511th Brigade of the Air Complex seemed to have entered a deserted land. It attacked hundreds of kilometers in 2 hours. It directly "cut" the 211th Infantry Division and the 7th Armored Division, creating an opportunity for the 271st Brigade and the 273rd Brigade of the Air Complex to encircle and annihilate the Vietnamese army.
The encirclement and annihilation battle will end at around 15:00 on the 24th.
There were still officers and soldiers in the remaining areas of the 211th Infantry Division of the Vietnam Army, 5,000 armored regiments and 1 mechanized infantry regiment were wiped out. The rest of them surrendered.
At this point, the remaining troops of the 7th Armored Division of the Vietnam Army broke eastward and tried to meet with the 24th Infantry Division.
The 1511th Air Brigade of Air Force was dispatched again and encircled the gap between the 7th Panzer Division and the 24th Infantry Division at an extremely fast speed, laying the foundation for the final annihilation of the 7th Panzer Division.
At 17:00 on the 24th, the last round of annihilation war began.
The 2711th Armored Brigade and the 273rd Armored Brigade attacked the 7th Armored Division of the Vietnamese Army from the west and north respectively. The 1611th Air Brigade was responsible for low-altitude support and tactical interweaving, while the 151st Air Brigade was responsible for defending the "gate" and preventing the 7th Armored Division from breaking through.
Because the battle took place at night, the war correspondents failed to capture many thrilling battle scenes.
Judging from the end of the battle in the early morning of the 25th, the 7th Panzer Division of the Vietnam Army was very tenacious.
There is nothing strange about it. The 7th Armored Division is the largest and most powerful armored unit in the Vietnamese Army. It is a "strategic force" in the Vietnamese army. The entire division has 2 tank regiments, 2 mechanized infantry regiments, 1 infantry regiment, 1 artillery regiment, and several division-level battalion-level units. It has remaining tanks, infantry combat vehicles, more than 600 armored combat vehicles, more than 600 self-propelled artillery gates, various types of artillery and mortars gates, total strength of 230c0~ more people, and the equipment organization and number of personnel exceeded that of the 27th Army of the Republic Army.
In the second phase of the annihilation battle, the 7th Armored Division lost less than half of its troops.
There was no hope of breaking through, and the Vietnamese army defended, causing great trouble to the attacking 2711th Armored Brigade and the 273rd Armored Assault Brigade. The 24th Infantry Division, located southeast of the battlefield, launched a fierce attack on the defense line of the 1511th Air Brigade, trying to rescue the besieged 7th Armored Division.
The Air Force made an indelible contribution to the ability to annihilate the 7th Armored Division within 7 hours.
That night, the Air Force dispatched a total of 577 combat aircraft, providing 1,263 air support to the ground forces, and only two attack aircraft brigades deployed in Simao and Jinghong (each equipment o attack).
The aircraft 24) was dispatched 124 times, throwing various ammunitions, and destroying various combat vehicles such as Vietnamese tanks and other 328.
Another important support force is the 27th Army and the local long-range artillery.
Three artillery battalions (one of which was a rocket artillery battalion) threw a total of artillery shells and rockets at the Vietnamese army that night, about 50% were guided artillery shells, destroying 863 various combat vehicles such as tanks, 241 defense fortifications such as firepower points, and 8 artillery positions and troop gathering sites.
According to later statistics, 70% of the Vietnamese soldiers killed in the battle died of bombing and artillery!
Faced with such a violent attack, even the 7th Panzer Division of the Vietnam Army could not escape with its wings.
In the early morning of the 25th, when there was no hope of breaking through, the division commander General Huang Jiecheng committed suicide by swallowing a gun. Subsequently, the remaining 11c00~all the more than 1 officers and soldiers were disarmed.
In the battle on the 24th, the most difficult one was definitely the airborne 153rd Brigade.
Because the other brigades have to encircle and annihilate the 211th Infantry Division and the 7th Armored Division, the 152nd Airborne 152 needs to defend the "South Gate", so the 153rd Airborne brigade must defend the "South Gate" alone. What's worse is that the air force and long-range artillery have to fully support the annihilation war and cannot provide too much support to the 153rd Airborne brigade.
Before the battle began, Xiang Yinghui personally issued an order to the commander of the 27th Army to provide sufficient ammunition for the 153rd Brigade.
Taking advantage of the time before the start of the battle, the 27th Army airlifted one artillery company and two heavy mortar companies to the 153rd Brigade, as well as approximately ammunition. The Air Force dispatched large transport aircraft and carried out three airdrops on the 153rd Brigade, with a total of ammunition and drug supplies.
Everyone knows that after the battle begins, the Vietnamese army will fight desperately to attack Nonghei.
This is indeed the case. Starting from 1 on the 24th, the Vietnamese army once again attacked Nonghei.
Because Peng Maobang stipulated that the Vietnamese army would be annihilated within hours, the 153rd Brigade was airborne and prepared for the fierce battle.
After the battle began, the 153rd Brigade airborne particularly "saves" ammunition.
The battle in the afternoon was relatively "easy", and the Vietnamese army was easily beaten back several breakout operations.
As the last round of annihilation began, the 2nd Infantry Division of the Vietnamese Army was blocked to the west of Nonghei, the 27th Infantry Division and the 5th Armored Division felt a personal threat and fought desperately to break eastward.
The battle soon entered a state of intense heat.
The 153rd Brigade airborne tried its best to make ends meet, and even the minor wounded took up their weapons and went to the front line.
During the battle hours before nighttime, the 153rd Brigade was airborne and reduced its personnel, including 163 officers and soldiers killed, with casualties exceeding the battle of more than ten hours during the day!
By the early morning of the 25th, less than 1c00 officers and soldiers who were still able to fight were airborne by the 153rd Brigade.
Fortunately, the annihilation war was about to end, and the low-altitude strike troops of the 1511th Brigade of the Air Turkish 1511th Brigade arrived in Nonghei first, eliminating dozens of tanks and infantry fighting vehicles of the 5th Panzer Division of the Vietnamese Army. The reinforcements of the 1611th Brigade of the Air Turkish 1611th Brigade also arrived quickly and repelled a round of attacks of the 27th Infantry Division of the Vietnamese Army for the 151st Brigade.
Later, Li Dongshi and a group of officers and soldiers who were airborne in the 153rd Brigade were awarded the "Special Combat Merit" medal for their outstanding performance in the battle that night.
Compared with the 153rd Airborne Brigade, the pressure on the 152nd Airborne Brigade is slightly smaller.
Because the road to break south was even more rugged, it only hit a wall in Nonghei on the 23rd, and nearly half of its troops were eliminated. The 23rd Infantry Division of the Vietnamese Army broke south.
Faced with the 23rd Infantry Division, which had less than 600 forces left, the 152nd Air Force Brigade completed its combat mission very easily.
At the end of the "Nankang-South Russia Annihilation War", the 7th Armored Division and the 211th Infantry Division were all annihilated, the 23rd Infantry Division was broken up, the 5th Armored Division and the 24th Infantry Division suffered heavy damage, and the 27th Infantry Division was reduced by about one-third. During the entire battle, a total of 17,238 Vietnamese officers and soldiers were killed, 24,384 were captured, and one was missing (except for a few fleeing into the mountains, most of the missing people died of bombing and artillery). At this point, more than half of the Vietnamese combat forces trapped in Laos were lost.
The Republic's Army also paid a huge price for this.
The biggest loss was the airborne 153 Brigade. The total number of officers and soldiers of the entire brigade was killed, 1374 were injured, and 27 were missing (9 were later confirmed to be captured); 1511 Brigade of Air Turkish was killed, 9 were injured, and 17 were missing (it was later confirmed to be killed), 73 officers and soldiers of Air Turkish, 2311 were injured, and 2 were missing (it was later returned), 1c3 officers and soldiers of Air Turkish, 323 were injured, and 19 were missing (it was later confirmed to be killed), 273 officers and soldiers of Armored 2711 Brigade were injured, and 542 were injured, and 177 officers and soldiers of Air Turkish, and 286 were injured. A total of 1345 officers and soldiers of Air Turkish, and 3245 were injured, and 9 were captured.
Although the number of casualties is not large compared to the number of enemy annihilation, such a huge number of casualties is enough to illustrate the problem.
It has to be admitted that the officers and soldiers of the Republic of China showed extraordinary courage and fearless morale in the battle, especially many officers and soldiers of the 153rd Brigade airborne and persisted until the last moment after being injured, but the problems exposed by the Army in the battle were still particularly obvious.
When summarizing the lessons of the battle, Xiang Yinghui clearly mentioned the most prominent problem: the lack of support firepower.
Almost all participating troops have this problem. In the lightweight and rapid reform, the rapid assault capabilities of heavy armored troops such as the 2711th Armored Brigade have been significantly improved, but the lightweight troops are not equipped with sufficient support firepower. Taking the 153rd Airborne Brigade as an example, if some lightweight large-caliber artillery can be available, the casualties will definitely be much lower.
Peng Maobang also made a summary personally, and the question he raised was that the Army's logistics support capabilities urgently need to be improved.
Many of the losses of the 153rd Air Force Brigade were caused by the lack of ammunition and drug resources. If the army had strong air transportation capabilities, it could provide sufficient support to the 153rd Air Force Brigade, so that officers and soldiers would not have to worry about insufficient ammunition in combat, so as to maximize the combat effectiveness of the airborne troops and reduce unnecessary casualties and losses.
The troops that have always been truly powerful do not see advantages from victory, but find shortcomings from victory!
