70 Mr. Mortura wants to see you

Thomas Motura, a singer, worked at Sony Music when it was still CBS Music.

In 1990, Motura became the CEO of Sony Music. During his tenure, Sony recruited Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Gloria Estefan and other female divas who are famous for their singing skills. With the pop king MJ, Sony Music has strongly overtaken Warner Music to become the No. 1 record label in the United States.

At this time, the resume in Motula's hand and the disc playing in the CD player were recommended by veteran rock singer Bruce Springsteen. It is said that his CAA agent commissioned the recommendation.

A young rock singer, but he is better known as an action film actor and wrestler.

A rock singer?

It's really a bit untimely.

Motura is not optimistic about the market prospects of rock music.

After achieving hegemony in the field of female divas, Motura has recently turned her attention to Latin music. First, she attracted a New York girl, Jennifer Lopez, and then discovered Shakira and Ricky Martin from her South American branch.

But obviously judging from the record market in the first half of 1996, Latin style still failed to overpower R&B. LaFace Records successively launched TLC, Toni Braxton, Usher, Pink, Donal Jones, and Continuous success.

Under such circumstances, even with successive successes, Motura still sticks to its optimistic fashion direction.

The theoretical basis for Motura's inference is the change in the racial proportion of the urban population in the United States.

In the 1980 census, there were 188 million whites, accounting for 85% of the total U.S. population, 27 million blacks, and 7 million "other" people. Hispanics (Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, etc.) who were previously counted as whites were included in this census is listed as "other".

According to incomplete statistics, the total population of Hispanics has reached 30 million in 1995, and the total number is about to catch up with blacks. Moreover, the average age of Hispanics is lower than that of blacks. The catch-up may be completed in less than 2000.

And regardless of whether they are Hispanics or blacks, most of these people live in big cities. Although the average income is not high, due to the convenience of big cities, their spending power, especially the spending power on the entertainment industry, is far higher than that of people living in big cities. White people in small towns or suburbs who have more money than they do.

Since the 1970s, the proportion of blacks and Latinos among the main population of large and medium-sized cities in the United States has increased significantly, and the rhythm and blues, hip-hop and Latin music that these two ethnic groups prefer have also gradually become popular.

Most hip-hop singers come from the streets and are difficult to manage, so major companies basically focus on rhythm and blues singers. Since the 1970s, they have successively launched outstanding singers, and the representative figure is naturally the King of Pop MJ.

Country music and rock music have always been rejected by ethnic minorities because they are considered "white people's music." On the contrary, the younger generation of white children who grew up in cities have gradually been influenced by the environment, and their musical aesthetics have followed popular trends.

Maybe the Internet will bring about some changes, but the next ten years will definitely be the world of minority music.

So in this context, Motura had to make a very cautious decision when faced with the rock singer who came to his door.

Too many rock singers can only maintain a high level of creation for one or two albums, and then rest on their laurels. Motura has seen this kind of thing too many times.

However, this rock young man has already accumulated a little fame in other entertainment fields, which can save a lot of early publicity expenses. He will definitely not lose money if he joins the company. Even if he runs out of talents after the first major, he will not lose money.

The only question is, this is an open inquiry, what kind of offer should Sony Music use to match it?

In the following week, Bai Quinn, who was filming in Los Angeles, received offers from various record companies one after another.

Def Jam only offered an appointment to one singer, but Quinn gave it up immediately. There was no need to continue the conversation.

BMG's "Vesal of the Vassals" Jive Records and DreamWorks Records, which works closely with Universal Music Group, both provide a distribution share of 50% to 50%, which is considered an industry standard sharing method, but both parties additionally need to invest in Big Machine Records

's demands.

Jive Records asked for 30%, while DreamWorks asked David Geffen to personally own 20%.

Neither EMI nor Warners matched their offers, so they probably gave up on Quinn.

Only Sony Music, of the Big Six, responded with a message relayed through intermediary Bruce Springsteen: "Mr. Motura wants to see you."

Since Mira Sorvino has a very tight schedule for the filming of "The Bad Guys", with only ten days, if Quinn takes another leave in May, she will force William to death and make Wes Anderson angry to death.

Therefore, through CAA's Mike Kirk, the meeting time between Bai Quinn and Motura was scheduled for June 12. After Bai Quinn played his last WWF match in 1996, he squeezed out a day to go to New York.

Sony Music Headquarters visits Motura.

Perhaps because he was very confident in his offer, David Geffen knew that Mike Corker was stalling for time, so he did not urge Quinn to make a decision as soon as possible. Instead, he waited for the outcome of the negotiation between Quinn and Sony.

Since the negotiations to increase the match failed to make progress, with the consent of both parties, a bloody love triangle plot was staged in the RAW match on June 11th.

The tag team formed by Quinn White and Chris Jericho finally qualified to challenge the tag team championship belt held by The Bodydonnas, and the two sides fought for the belt.

When Bai Quin suppressed Skip and was about to win, Jericho suddenly attacked his teammate Bai Quin, causing the team to lose.

After the game, Quinn Bai was angry and asked in the ring why Jericho would backstab him. Jericho said that he fell in love with Quinn Bai's "girlfriend" Sunny and did not want to continue to team up with Quinn.

When Bai Quinn was confidently claiming that Sunny would not leave with you, the big screen started playing a VCR, which turned out to be a half-covered scene of Chris Jericho and Sunny having an affair in the player lounge.

.

The whole audience was in an uproar, and Sunny also alertly fled to Jericho for protection.

The "dog man and woman" turned around and ran away, leaving Bai Quinn in a mess on the stage. She sadly announced that she would take a break to heal her emotional injuries.

The plot ends here. After finishing 12 games this year, Bai Quinn may terminate her cooperation with WWF.

The follow-up plot will see Sunny betray Jericho again and return to Skip in The Bodydonnas, revealing that she was deceiving Jericho and encouraging him to betray White Quinn, completing the perfect closed loop of the bloody plot.

Wrestling spectators will watch a 12 o'clock soap opera in the wrestling ring.

However, subsequent ratings and questionnaire surveys told Lao Mai that the audience actually liked this plot very much. Lao Mai seemed to have discovered another code for wealth. Not only did the audience not object to the inclusion of some bloody emotional drama in wrestling, but they actually welcomed it.
