88 Poolside Night Talk

Of course Quinn Bai is not going on a date with Liv Tyler.

An hour and a half later, he parked the car on the sidewalk of Uncle Tony's neighbor's house, just like Chris did last time.

Tony opened the door in his pajamas, holding a wine glass in his hand. He tilted his neck and said, "Come in..."

Bai Quinn quickly followed him into the house and came to the small bar in the kitchen. There was a half bottle of Martell, an ice box and an empty cup on the table.

Tony motioned to Bai Quinn to do it himself. Bai Quinn, regardless of the fact that he was only 21 in half a year, grabbed an ice cube and started pouring tons of wine.

Two little heads popped out from the stairs. Meadow recognized Bai Quinn, screamed softly, and ran upstairs. AJ stood obediently, holding his hands behind his back, but stopped talking.

Within half a minute, Mei Duo ran back in a hurry, holding CDs, magazines, posters, T-shirts and other things, asking Bai Quinn to sign them.

Bai Quinn recognized that these things were souvenirs and promotional materials that he had previously asked the marketing staff of Widmark Imaging to send to the two siblings. He had indeed been negligent at the time and should have signed them himself before sending them out.

After signing the names, Uncle Tony sent the siblings to bed. Meadow led the reluctant AJ upstairs. Bai Quinn was a little curious and asked his uncle, what did AJ want to say?

"He wants you to take him to the WWF arena to watch the game. By the way, why don't you play? I've been waiting for several episodes and haven't seen you. Are you too busy making music?"

Bai Quinn quickly promised that next time there is a game in New York, he will find a way to help AJ get a front row position so that he can show his face on TV.

As for wrestling, I also explained my contract with the WWF. There are 12 matches a year. After this year's fight is over, I will go on stage next year.

Then he got to the point. Bai Quinn told Tony the warning from Ray Donovan and the exact information about his promise to buy him 300,000 yuan.

After listening, Tony took the cup, walked to the back door, opened the glass door, walked to the pool, simply took off his slippers and sat by the pool, soaking his feet in the water.

"Come sit down and let me tell you a story."

Bai Quinn quickly threw off her shoes and socks, followed Tony's example, and sat by the pool. In the middle of the pool, an inflatable little yellow duck was pushed up and down by the water waves created by the two of them.

"Have you been to the butcher's shop on Park East Street?"

"Yeah!" Bai Quinn nodded.

"Sixty years ago, in the restaurant opposite the butcher shop, Dutch Schultz and several of his henchmen were shot randomly by gunmen who rushed into the restaurant. They were seriously injured and died after surviving a day."

"I know that thing..." Bai Quinn said, ""Billy Bathgate", Dustin Hoffman plays Dutch Schultz..."

Quinn once watched this movie when he was watching a lot of movies at Blockbuster. In it, the Australian white girl Nicole Kidman activated two characters, so he was deeply impressed.

"I also watched that movie. They said Dutch Schultz was executed by 'Good Guy Luciano' because he wanted to kill Dewey who was a prosecutor (later became the President of the United States), right?"

Uncle Tony's tone expressed disdain.

"I'll give you an example: If I told everyone every day that I would not pick apples from the fruit tree next door to Mr. Buck's house near the road.

If I want to pick apples, I must get the unanimous approval of the street committee before I can touch Mr. Buck's apples.

So what if one day the Buck family's apples disappear, how suspicious do you think I am?

Maybe I used to be a habitual offender of stealing apples, but with my constant publicity, people will think that I didn’t file an application for stealing apples with the street committee, so I shouldn’t have done it.”

Bai Quinn nodded to express his understanding. In the same way, the Mafia has repeatedly emphasized that it cannot assassinate public officials unless authorized by the "National Council". Violators will be regarded as traitors and will be subject to family law.

Dutch Schultz is an example. He announced to the outside world that the Mafia was a group with strict disciplines. Schultz, who violated the rules and planned to murder the prosecutor, was executed by the Mafia.

Bai Quinn remembered a Chinese proverb, "A dog that bites does not bark."

"So there was a vote to assassinate Giuliani?"

"That was for the outside world to see, to tell everyone that Giuliani's style scares us! His approach to fighting crime scares us, so much so that we even want to assassinate him.

If you really want Giuliani's life, you can quietly send a gunman to solve it. As long as you take care of the situation, who knows that the mafia killed Giuliani?

On the contrary, we cannot kill him, but need to protect him."

Hearing this, Bai Quinn was confused.

Tony kicked the water and said: "'Big Paul', 'Fat Tony', 'Little Piccolo', 'Anthony Duck', and 'Rusty', these are the five heads of the five major families who were given the title by Giuliani.

Guys, but in fact, these guys are just captains like me, and they are all in a semi-retired state. It is quite good to go to prison to retire.

They are all victims of efforts to bring Giuliani to power and reshape our image as Italians."

Bai Quinn was so shocked that he couldn't open his mouth from ear to ear. Uncle Tony meant that Rudy Giuliani, who is famous for fighting the mafia, is "one of his own"!

Tony seemed very satisfied with Bai Quinn's reaction and said with a smile:

“I don’t know what kind of ‘Don’ Rudy Giuliani got the approval from, who has long since disappeared from public view, to get to this point.

It was only in 1989, when he ran for mayor of New York for the first time, that I was sure that he was ours.

In fact, it is easy to see that East Harlem, Little Italy, Lower East Side, Coney Island and other Italian-populated areas all voted for Giuliani.

Without the cooperation of grassroots mobilization, this would be impossible.

Do you think we would vote for him if the two sides were hostile?

In Jersey, our Italian district, we have the final say on who to vote for, and we can also decide who the union members vote for.

What our poor relatives in rural Jersey can do, what five filthy rich guys in New York can't do?

And if you look at Giuliani's policies after he came to power, the real ones who crack down on crime are the street kids, who are all black and Latino, and have little impact on our business.

Moreover, when Giuliani came to power, Philippe and the others had just opened up the situation on Wall Street. In the past, this was not the territory of us Italians. You should be able to guess how many transactions there were.

As for Giuliani's New York construction operation, a large number of demolitions and new communities have made the construction companies associated with us soft.

I even suspect that those old guys will push Giuliani to the position of big lord in the future.

A big lord of Italian origin, they may really have this idea!"

Bai Quinn tried hard to digest what Uncle Tony said, which somewhat subverted his previous way of thinking, but when he thought about it carefully, it was consistent with the way American society operates.

Uncle Tony continued: "I remember I told you that the Cavacanti family is also a member of the National Committee.

I have also told Chris the following words, and every MadeMan who may become the captain is qualified to know.

I know it privately, but there is no need for Shark-Tou and Pussy to let them know.

Luciano's real purpose in establishing the 'National Council'.

He led the Italian immigrants, most of whom believed in Catholicism, to gain a foothold in this emerging country and reap the benefits from those of Anglo-Saxon descent who believed in Protestantism.

As for regulating conflicts between various families, sharing Las Vegas, etc., they are just means to achieve this goal.

In the beginning, we were small in number and suffered discrimination and exclusion, so we had to take risks and engage in dangerous trades.

Once we become stronger, we will be attacked by the Protestant-controlled state institutions.

It wasn't until Prohibition that we were able to rise rapidly.

After Prohibition was repealed, we lost our steady source of profit and had to find a new livelihood.

At this time, "Good Man Luciano" established a "National Council", he proposed unity, and each of our families swore to join.

‘Fighting for the living space of our ethnic group’ is the real purpose of the ‘National Committee’.

The first step was to withdraw from the high-risk, low-return business in a planned manner. Dutch Schultz was unwilling, so he was dealt with.

The next step is to take advantage of the large number of Italian workers to control the truck unions, dockworkers unions, construction unions, etc. Those capitalists need our help in managing the unions, and we also take the opportunity to withdraw from the streets.

Then we caught up with World War II and landed in Sicily. You know this.

Thanks to the superb skills of those "Dons" back then, as gangsters, we were the only ones who could cooperate with the CIA.

We also became famous in Cuba for a while, becoming the white gloves of those powerful people.

But you can’t continue to be a lackey, right?

So we thought of pushing our own people up.

I just knew they had a plan, but it wasn't until Giuliani ran for mayor that I knew he was the one."

After hearing this, Bai Quinn's problem has not been solved yet.

"What about my affairs? I mean, will Giuliani really continue to attack the five major families? Will it implicate me?"

Tony said: "I heard that the Donkey Party will launch a strong opponent to compete with Giuliani for mayor of New York. He has spent a lot of money in the past three years. Except for the improvement of public security, other benefits are not obvious yet. This re-election campaign

is in his period of weakness.

Maybe he urgently needs political achievements to appease voters, or maybe some discerning people are instigating this and want to destroy the tacit understanding between Giuliani and those old men.

My gut tells me it's the latter, and my gut is always pretty accurate."

Tony kicked away the inflatable little yellow duck that floated over, and slowly talked about irrelevant things: "You know what? Meadow chose the University of California, Berkeley. If she really gets admitted, my place will change.

It's getting deserted.

Fortunately, Chris comes back every month to visit and have a meal at home..."

Bai Quinn suddenly understood everything!

"Sorry, Uncle Tony, I was too busy some time ago. From now on, I will definitely spend more time with my family..."

"It doesn't matter. I know you have too many things to do. You have to wrestle, act, and sing, and you don't have any spare time. It's good that you have this intention.

In addition, don’t work too hard, after all, family is the most important thing to us.

You are different from Stannie. She is too stubborn, but you are a good and obedient child.

By the way, I will talk to Ray Donovan personally about that matter to see who wants to deal with you. As for the three hundred thousand, I will go and negotiate with him. This guy is getting more and more useless.
