1.1300 An unlikely spy

As they were talking, the crowded venue suddenly became turbulent. The Parisian journalists who had just surrounded him and slapped the "murder of countless films" turned around and ran towards the gate.

"Ah..." Mrs. Katy pretended to be shocked and drank the champagne: "It's her here."

"Who is here?" Czechoslovak actress Lida Balova's eyes were full of curiosity.

"Who else can be there except Josephine Baker?" Mrs. Katy smiled charmingly.

In 1939, as the war drums echoed throughout Europe, Jacques Abtey, the head of the French military intelligence department, recruited an unlikely spy: Josephine Baker, the most famous woman in France, to collect information about Nazi Germany and other Axis powers. Usually, the French Secret Service would look for people who could hide their identity and travel safely as spies. For the American-born black dancer, singer Josephine Baker, there was no difficulty at all.

Born in a slum in St. Louis, USA in 1906, Josephine Baker grew up in a rat-infested cottage without a father. She received only a sporadic education and married for the first time at the age of 13. She was discriminated against for her skin color and came to Paris at the age of 19 and became popular in a concert hall in a tight latex dress. After engaging in singing and film performances as the "Enterprise of France", she became the highest-paid female star in Europe.

Baker's fame made her the most unlikely spy candidate, because she could never travel secretly like a spy, but that was what made her spy career prospects so tempting. Great fame would be her greatest cover. The French Secret Service hopes that Baker can use her charm, beauty and fame to seduce diplomats in the Nazi embassy to bring secrets out of their mouths.

In January 1941, Josephine Baker was ordered to go to Morocco to establish a liaison and transmission center in Casablanca. When crossing the Mediterranean, the performers in the team brought a full 28 large luggage and a large number of pets: monkeys, rats and dogs. The more prominent Baker's travel was, the less suspicious the Nazis were. In North Africa, she worked with the French resistance and obtained a passport for Jews who fled the Eastern European Nazis until she was hospitalized for peritonitis in June 1941. During her 18-month hospitalization, she underwent multiple surgeries, and was seriously ill, which made people think that she was about to die. Black writer Langston Hughes

Hughes even wrote an obituary for her in person. After a little recovery, Josephine Baker continued her spy work, so that American diplomats and French resistance members met by her bed.

In November 1942, as part of Operation Torch, she witnessed the landing of US troops in Morocco from the balcony of the hospital.

But why did the Gear of Destiny send this French legendary female spy, Josephine Baker, back to Paris in advance?

You know, it was not until October 1944 after the liberation of Paris that Josephine Baker returned to the city she loved deeply and left for four years. He wore her blue lieutenant uniform, dotted with golden medals, and sat in the back seat of the car and enjoyed the countless flowers cast by the crowd on the Champs Elysees.

However, when the crowd was seen facing a familiar figure, the female star Anelise Ackerman immediately realized. Carol Baker, a North African German doctor in military uniform, is now publicly identifiable as Josephine Baker's personal doctor.

Apart from the skillful medical skills that can make Josephine Baker recover early, it is obvious that if you want to gain enough trust from this legendary female spy, there must be other reasons behind this. So when she accidentally caught a familiar figure, the answer immediately came to light. It was the Greek female guerrilla who pretended to be the personal bodyguard of the big star Josephine Baker.

"(Sisters meet) It's great." Female star Anelise Ackerman couldn't help but murmur.

"(The lineup) is really great." Czechoslovak actress Lida Balova also sighed.

"So, ladies, cheers. For the trip to Sicily!" Mrs. Katy immediately looked for an opportunity to bring her relationship with Czechoslovak actress Lida Barova.

"Cheers for the trip to Sicily." Czechoslovak actress Lida Balova also calmly accepted the olive branch sent by Mrs. Katy. The set is also a favorable place. It is also the most natural choice to get along with this deputy director who holds real power first.

Just as the effects of continental female stars such as Germany, France, Czechoslovakia and other continental female stars fermented rapidly. As early as February 1, 1943, the head of state train, renamed "Brandenburg", had quietly set off to Sicily, the Mediterranean portal in Italy.

Take the "Head of Heads' Special Train" which eliminated the "Head of Heads' Box" = "B52KDL1 Wartime Locomotive Head" x2 + "SdPI 4i-39 Front Air Defense Car" + "Forward Luggage Car" + "Command Car" + "Guard Car" + "Front Cabin" + "Screw Car" x2 + "Chinese Dining Car" + "Front Cabin" x2 + "Bathroom Car" + "Rear Dining Car" + "Rear Sleeper Car" x2 + "News Car" + "Rear Luggage Car" + "SdPI 4i-39 Back Air Defense Car".

On the speeding train, there are "passenger carriages" open to non-military personnel on the train.

Mrs. Katie and several female stars are having a routine casting before the filming of an unnamed movie.

"Who is the next one?" Czechoslova actress Lida Balova turned her eyes to the new file that Mrs. Katy had just opened.

"Ah, it's a female singer from Stockholm." Mrs. Katie skillfully read her Swedish name: "Eva Karlsen. nicknamed "Ice Harbor Canary."

"The previous Ingrid Schuler and the previous Gundrun are also singers. I don't understand, are we going to make a musical drama?" Czechoslova actress Lida Barova was a little worried because it was not her strength.

"It also helps the military shoot." Mrs. Katy, who had not said a word, was obviously deliberately hiding it.

"Also?" Czechoslova actress Lida Balova also heard the omission in Mrs. Katy's tone.

"In addition, we have to figure out one thing." Mrs. Katy doesn't seem to be a tight-lipped person, or deliberately makes people think so.

"Related to 'Login'?" Czechoslova actress Lida Balova also seems to be suspected of showing off. She used an ambiguous answer to deliberately imply that she still maintained a close relationship with "someone". She can learn many unknown secrets. For example, this time, Naoba looks like a "special matter" outdoor shooting trip.

This is not actually a secret.

In early 1943, World War II had decisive changes. On the battlefield of North Africa, the Allies achieved an overwhelming victory. The next stage was the landing war against Southern Europe, which Germany also knew very well. What they did not understand was the exact location of the landing war. Which Mediterranean island would the Allies use as a springboard to launch a large-scale attack on Italy.

Ultimately, landing operations are the obvious next military operation goal. The problem is that the German Supreme Command cannot determine where the Allied landing location is.

Of course, the biggest and least possible target is Sicily.

Because Sicily is dangerous and easy to defend and difficult to attack. It is the main obstacle to attacking Germany and clearing the Mediterranean transportation line. There are more than 300,000 defenders on the island, 14 airports, nearly 100 artillery positions, equipped with more than 1,400 aircraft and thousands of cannons. If you forcefully attack, even if you win, the Allies will have to pay a huge price.

After many sand table deductions, the German Supreme Command came to a reliable conclusion: even if Sicily could be conquered, the heavily damaged Allied forces would no longer be able to launch a large-scale battle to land in Europe for a long time.

"Soldiers are the devil."

It is precisely because it is the most likely landing target that it is likely that Sicily will not be.

This is almost the consensus between the Supreme Command of Germany and the Head of State himself.
