Chapter Twenty-Nine - The Mummified Corpse

We drove a total of three dune motorcycles, which rolled up several streaks of yellow smoke on the sand. Sand and rocks were flying everywhere as we passed by.

I turned my head and looked at the road I started on, which had long been hidden in the yellow sand.

The road in the desert looked close but was actually far away. The dense smoke was so close that we kept walking for at least half an hour.

Seeing that it was almost here, I asked Wen Na,

"Wen Na, do you know how to brake this thing?"

Wen Na hammered my back and said softly, "Didn't you say you could ride?!"

"I know how to pedal..."

I couldn't find the brakes, so I had to use a stupid method and let go of the accelerator in advance. The car began to slow down slowly, and it didn't stop until it hit a small sandbag.

After the dust settled, Wen Na and I were covered with a layer of soil, like newly unearthed pottery figures.

After jogging for two steps, I found the people leading the way. They were already studying the source of the thick smoke.

What I saw burning were a few logs standing in the sand.

As we got closer, we discovered that the sand here was different from the soft sand on our road. It was more fine, like finely sifted flour.

"This wood... this wood seems to have been driven into the sand and set on fire." One of them walked around and came to a conclusion.

I went to check the burning logs. Some of them had been extinguished by themselves. These logs were about as tall as a person. There were also a few logs that had been burned out like incense in an incense burner, leaving only gray-black charcoal.

Standing it upright, it will be blown away by the breeze.

This must be man-made! You can't grow such wood in the desert, right? Who would insert the wood here? And who burns the wood to emit some kind of signal? Or...

What ritual is performed?

"It's difficult for one person to bury these logs. I don't know how many people were involved in this matter."

After these standing logs, there are some logs stuck in the sand. The difference is that these logs are carved into huge leaf vein shapes, but the middle is hollowed out. This makes us more certain that these logs are still in the sand.

This fire is man-made...

There are two piles of strange-looking wood stuck in the bare sand. This is so weird!

"Why are the pieces of wood inserted like this?" someone asked, but no one could explain.

"How about we pull out this wood and take a look!" Someone suggested. Since we can't come to a conclusion, let's give it a try.

The wood was inserted deeper than we imagined, but fortunately the soil was relatively soft, so we dug out a small hole without much effort and took out the root, which was carved into a peculiar leaf-vein shape.

"There seems to be something down there!" My current vision is far different. For just a moment, I saw something under the root of the tree. It quickly passed by and was covered up by the sand, but I was very sure that there was something under the root of the tree.

There is something else buried deeper in the ground below!

We all simply knelt on the ground and dug the soil with our hands. As the pile of soil next to us got higher and higher, the entire thing buried underground was revealed in front of us.

This is a cylindrical thing. I don't know what's inside. The outside of this thing is tightly wrapped with a layer of animal skin. It's so big, I think it should be cowhide.

A group of people wrapped something in cowhide, buried it in the ground in the desert, erected a standing log on it to mark it, and then lit it on fire? What on earth were they doing?

I also want to take a closer look to see if there are any gaps in this thing that can be opened.

The people in the desert camp had already taken out a knife, stabbed it diagonally into the leather, and then pulled the entire leather apart bit by bit.

Surprisingly, the thing wrapped with so much effort was not a treasure, but a piece of wood?

Is there something special about this wood? Is it aged pear wood? So it is so valuable that you have to go to great lengths to hide it?

"Here, help me!"

A few of us worked together to pull the piece of wood wrapped in cowhide out of the deep pit. The full picture of the thing finally appeared. We found that it was a vessel carved from wood into a boat shape, and it was covered with linen. It looked very old, and

It's not a modern thing.

When I opened this layer of linen, I felt that what was wrapped inside might be a boatload of gold! If not, it was some other treasure. Otherwise, what was the point of burying and hiding it so hard?

We opened the linen cloth on the wooden boat, and there was a small cover on it. The people in the desert camp used a knife to open the cover and flip it aside. The contents inside appeared completely in front of our eyes.

What was placed inside was not gold or other treasures, but a person. The moment we punched the lid, the person's face shriveled up at a speed visible to the naked eye, and within a few seconds, it became a

Mummy look!

All of us are terrible!

The person lying inside had a tall, pointed hat on his head and a cloak on his body. If it hadn't been for the terrible change the moment it was opened, I might have just thought he was sleeping alone in this wooden boat.

Already.

On his hat, there is a head that looks like a mouse!

Beside him, there were some carved wooden figures and some jade articles. The most peculiar thing was that there was a little Lou, which was like a small fish basket, but very small, only as big as a fist. It was very delicately woven.

.

The man took out the small basket and poured out many small particles in his hand.

"What is this? Gold particles?"

"It doesn't look like this, this..." I couldn't tell what it looked like for a while.

"These are wheat grains!" Wen Na said. He was covered with a lot of hay. I grabbed it with my hands, but as soon as I touched it, the things fell apart.

"This man looks like he has a high nose and big eyes. He doesn't look like a person from the Central Plains!" I was unconsciously attracted by this man's face. His face was lifelike, and even his long eyelashes were clearly defined. I felt that what he was going to do next was

Seconds, you will open your eyes and look at me.

We covered the hull of the boat again with a cover, and dug under the roots of the bare pole.

The standing tree also hid a mystery, it was thin at the top and thick at the bottom. Sure enough, a similar piece of cowhide was found under the standing tree. We cut the piece of cowhide open and found that it was the same ship coffin. When we opened the lid, there was also a piece of cowhide lying inside.

people.

I was stunned when I saw this person. I thought the legendary princess of the Western Regions should look like this.

The person lying in the ship's coffin also shrank quickly, but it still couldn't stop her beauty. She had a graceful face and an elegant demeanor. Her eyebrows were like a crescent moon and curved like a willow leaf. Her eyes were slightly closed, and her clearly visible eyelashes were like a

They stand upright like rows of young pines, covered with a fine layer of sand and dust, like the dense woods next to the clear lake, giving people a deep and mysterious feeling. The eyebrows and eyes also seem to be gathering clouds.

The bridge of the nose is high, the slightly sharp lines add to the charm, and the corners of the mouth seem to exude a charming smile.

She wore a round hat and a cloak, but her cloak was obviously more luxurious, and there were more jades in the coffin, most of which were ornaments.

Wen Na picked up the object in the hand of the unknown female corpse in the boat coffin and said, "This seems to be a bow."

I took it and saw that it was indeed a bow made of willow branches, but it was very mini. I thought it might be this beauty's toy.

Beauty's hobbies may always be a little special.

"I understand!" someone in the desert camp shouted, startling me.

"What does this look like to you?!"

He pointed to the logs standing in the sand.

What does it look like? Like the Dinghai Shenzhen?

"Look, underneath this vertical piece of wood is the body of a woman, and it's shaped like this!" He pointed to the vein-shaped pillar and said, "Underneath this is the corpse of a man!"

"Huh?" Everyone didn't understand. I was completely confused and didn't know what he wanted to express.

"This is a kind of reproductive worship?!" Wen Na actually understood.

The knowledge I learned in biology class suddenly came flooding back to me, damn! So that’s what it meant!

I couldn't help but blush.

"Look at this one," the man in the desert camp said, pointing to a short piece of wood that had not been burned. "The tops of these pieces of wood are all polished to be very smooth. This is done deliberately! I dare say,
