Chapter 86 Printing is done

"Master Bai, this is not carving wax, but printing the wax mold based on the designed structure, and there is no need to carve it." Du Mingxuan explained.
"I know 3D printing!" Bai Shaoan said, "Last time they built an imported 3D printer, which was also said that they could print wax molds. When they printed them out, they found that the good wax molds still had layers of patterns!"
"This printing is to pile up the materials layer by layer, right? This is not possible. Top-notch jewelry can't have any flaws! If it has a layer of patterns, who will buy it?"
"You are talking about a general 3D printer. Ours is specially used for jewelry manufacturing." Du Mingxuan pointed to the machine he was moving in and said, "Our model uses laser curing technology. The printed wax mold is printed. Not to mention the naked eye, even with a magnifying glass, the microscope cannot see the layers, and it is integrated."
"Those foreigners said the same thing last time." Bai Shaoan obviously didn't believe it, his face was full of doubts, "The result is that's it!"
Yang Jin smiled and said, "Is that true? You'll know if you give it a try?"
"Yes, you'll know it after a try." Du Mingxuan nodded.
They moved the machine into the workshop, and Yang Jin briefly understood the functions of the machine.
"Sister Yang, what sample are you going to make?" Du Mingxuan asked.
"As for samples, I have a lot of design drawings for decorations here..."
"It's rare to use, the harder the better, so that we can demonstrate the advanced performance of our machine!" Du Mingxuan said confidently.
"Huh? So confident?" Yang Jin was a little interested and said, "It's really okay to have any difficulty?"
"Everything is OK! As long as you can design it, my machine can be printed out!" Du Mingxuan said.
"Then what do you think of this?" Yang Jin showed him the design of "Golden Beads under the Moon", "This is my design earrings, Gold Beads under the Moon."
"Its structure is particularly complex, with carved patterns, hollowed out, curved surfaces... It has been half a month since I still haven't been able to create a perfect wax mold. Can your machine work?"
Seeing that Du Mingxuan boasted about his 3D printer so amazingly, Yang Jin directly brought this design to him. It was not that she had tried it without a 3D printer, but the results she got were not ideal.
First of all, the accuracy issue. The small patterns on the pendant were designed by her reference to the carvings of ancient Chinese luxury jewelry. The design drawings are very beautiful, but if you put them on a small pendant, the lines must be thinner than hair!
When 3D printers print this, sometimes it will be blurred and sometimes it will be deformed due to wax material problems.
Another big problem is the layer pattern problem mentioned by Bai Shaoan. The working principle of a 3D printer is to "cut" the 3D model of the product into layers of projections through the computer, and then use the corresponding materials to accumulate layer by layer.
During the stacking process, layer marks will occur. The layer marks printed by 3D printers with poor performance will be very obvious. This is a disadvantage that cannot be ignored in the manufacturing of high-end jewelry.
Even if it is better, the layers are not so obvious, and there are always flaws. They are not as good as wax molds carved by masters like Bai Shaoan.
"No problem! Let me prepare, Sister Yang, this requires your cooperation. Your precious design drawings need to be analyzed by the 3D printer. And the relevant gems need to be scanned."
In Yang Jin's design, small crystal gems are also inlaid on the cage-style hollow pendant arms. When making wax molds, grooves are left, commonly called inlays, used to inlaid these small stones.
There are subtle differences in the structure and size of each gem, and the size and shape of the inlay should be matched with it. Because these gems are too small and only a few millimeters in diameter, it is difficult for Bai Shaoan to do this, so he can only try to make the gems most suitable when inlaid.
"Okay. But you can't backup secretly. This is my baby." Yang Jin said in a joking tone.
"I dare not!" Du Mingxuan smiled, "I hope that when you leave here later, you will keep this machine yourself, and I don't need to take it away."
"Young man, don't be too full of words." Bai Shaoan said.
"Master Bai, just watch it. The power of technology can open your eyes!"
They began to prepare, and the design drawing of the "Golden Beads Under the Moon" was connected to the Luban 3D jewelry printer. The printer began to "slice" the three-dimensional model and divide it into countless patterns.
At the same time, the printer's own three-dimensional scanner began to scan the jewelry used for inlay. The three-dimensional data on each surface of the gem crystal was entered. Based on these data, the inlay design on the earrings was improved.
There is also preparation of the materials, and in a quarter of an hour, everything is ready.
"Is this ready?" Bai Shaoan frowned, "Is this too unserious? At least you can understand this design, understand every pattern and the difficulties in the design..."
"Master, you are going to do wax sculptures, we are printing directly. There are not so many problems in the machine manufacturing process." said a technician brought by Du Mingxuan.
"Nonsense!" Bai Shaoan whispered, "You don't understand!"
"The knowledge here is complicated, and I have never dared to explain it all my life! You can get it done in more than ten minutes. Can a machine solve everything? What do you need someone to do?"
The technician was so critical of Bai Shaoan that he dared not speak. Du Mingxuan smiled and said, "Start print it and let Master Bai see our finished product."
Yang Jin did not participate in the argument, she had a calm expression and was waiting for the result. She did not expect much from the printer products. From the bottom of her heart, she believed in the products of those high-tech companies abroad.
As for Du Mingxuan, it was entirely for Qi Junjie's sake, so he asked him to give it a try.
The 3D printer started working, and the special wax material was put into the material box, and the nozzle started working against the tray.
At a speed visible to their naked eyes, waxed versions of jewelry were formed under a 3D printer.
Unlike the traditional manufacturing process, the printing process of 3DF printers is like a decoration covered by a curtain and slowly pulling up, and more and more visible parts are added.
Bai Shaoan had already frowned. After watching for a few seconds, his brows not only did not relax, but instead became even more frowned.
However, Yang Jin's expression became more serious, and a pair of black and bright eyes stared at the printed part. She saw that the jewelry of her computer's three-dimensional conceptual map was gradually taking shape!
