Volume Two Chapter 7 Camphor Tree
The third line of small words is just a warning: "If you encounter a zombie, kill it if you can."
"There are indeed survivors!"
Fu Hongyang stood on the roof, staring at the white wall with bright eyes: "The intersection of Wanglou Road is not far ahead. The big tree must be a mutated big tree, creating a haze-free area! Survivors gathered on the 15th, and the 21st will promote it again. Now on the 24th, they must be still there!"
Almost subconsciously, he wanted to take Doudou to the haze-free area at the intersection of Wanglou Fork Road.
But he raised his wrist and looked at his watch. It was 3:30 in the afternoon, and it was still early, so he cautiously did not rush over: "The smog disaster has collapsed the human moral system. Who knows whether there are any psychological problems with the remaining survivors? I have to investigate clearly before I can go to the intersection of Wanglou Road."
Fu Hongyang is no longer the college student who is still dreaming in the ivory tower. He lives claustrophobic life and hunts zombies, so he has sharpened his strong nerves and a calm mind.
Even now, he has begun to enjoy this state of walking alone in the smog.
Squinted his eyes.
He turned around and continued to leap along the rooftop, and soon arrived at the first fork in the town, the Yanliu Fork. Although Taoji Town is a poor countryside, it also has three main streets, horizontal and vertical, forming two relatively "busy" forks, the Wanglou Forks and the Yanliu Forks.
Yan Liu Cha Road intersection can be said to be the center of the town. He climbed to the top of the fourth floor of the Transportation Hotel facing the street and could see the entire town - but unfortunately the smog obscured most of the scene and could not see far.
"There has definitely been a battle at the forks. There are many zombies with blood drying up. They should have been left a few days ago. There are roadblocks built with debris on the street. It can be imagined that there are many people on the side of the survivors. Under the organization of the town government, they have a small-scale confrontation with zombies."
He is not Sherlock Holmes, and he cannot find more through subtle clues, and can only guess a rough guess.
After observing for a while, he continued to rush. After crossing the street, the buildings were no longer close to each other, with many blocked alleys. Fortunately, there were no zombies here, so he could go directly along the road. When he was about to reach the intersection of Wanglou fork, he hid in the house again.
Move forward little by little.
Finally, I saw a special transparent halo in the haze-free area. On the outside of the halo, there were cars in two rows of cars on the street, just along with the buildings on both sides, cutting the street.
There are also balls of black charred ruins on the street. Fu Hongyang thought for a while and then thought clearly that this was probably the zombie corpse after being burned - zombies will also rot after death. If they are not dealt with, some terrible infectious viruses may break out. Besides, too many zombies die and the smell will be bad.
"We are going to the intersection of Wanglou Road. It seems that we can hear the sound over there." Fu Hongyang carefully climbed over each building.
The supplies and the like in these buildings were all emptied.
When he could see the haze-free area clearly, he suddenly found that there was someone standing guard on the roof of the opposite building. There should be three people sitting in a corner of the roof, playing poker. Occasionally, he would look up to see the situation outside the haze-free area, but overall, it seemed relatively relaxed.
"There are almost no zombies around here, and there are basically no dangers in the survivors of the haze-free area." Fu Hongyang judged in his heart that the urgency of the settlement was less than expected.
At least the three survivors who were on guard still knew how to relax when playing cards.
He tried to avoid the eyes of the open-sentencers, quickly climbed over the courtyard wall, and then dived into the haze-free area. The huge trees were clearly presented in the field of view. It was a camphor tree. Taoji Town responded to the construction of the new countryside in recent years. The streets in the town have not only widened, but also planted many camphor trees.
The camphor tree is very huge and much taller than the naked eye than the mahogany tree. It may be forty meters. The entire Wanglou Fork Road, including the surrounding rows of buildings, is all covered by the canopy.
"It's bigger than my black skeleton... But if I don't move the black skeleton, maybe my black skeleton can grow so big."
I didn't know what was going on in my heart, and a stream of sour water came out.
There are tree houses on the camphor tree. Obviously, Fu Hongyangneng thought of the concept of tree houses. However, more people live in several rows of buildings, busy carrying various supplies. In the middle of the fork, that is, on the edge of the camphor tree, there are several diesel generators.
The diesel engine has not generated electricity for the time being, but there are many plug-ins around it, and there are relatively messy wires. Several wires even lead to the camphor tree canopy.
By night, the lights are probably going to light up.
"There are still many people, there must be four or five hundred people." Fu Hongyang silently estimated, "Most of them are young and strong, and there are many women and children, but there are almost no elderly people. They should have become zombies... It is difficult for the elderly to resist the virus in the smog... Well, there are people making noises over there."
He saw a group of people gathered under the building in the distance, and could vaguely see a man lying on the ground crying and making a fuss.
Within a few minutes, driving a few uniforms from the urban management electric patrol car, he came over to separate the crowd and dragged the people lying on the ground.
It's a woman.
I don't know what I said, but the crowd gradually dissipated, leaving the woman sitting on the steps in front of the door, motionless. The people around me continued to be busy with their own affairs, as if they were used to the behavior of the woman. Fu Hongyang also looked away and looked at other places.
The green belts, flowers, trees and the like near the forks have been poached, and various vegetables have been planted, and the growth is very gratifying.
A group of dogs were locked in a yard, with dogs barking from time to time; occasionally, you could hear a few pigs, and you could not know where to raise pigs; rice, flour, mineral water, bacon and other food were piled around the trunks or hung on branches; and several large trucks were undergoing modification.
The arc of the welding flashes.
Even Fu Hongyang saw a few people practicing fighting in a corner of the street, holding sticks and beating each other: "These people are a bit powerful in their movements, not weaker than my sword drawing skills, and their reactions are also very agile... They must be evolutionary people, and have eaten the fruits of camphor trees!"
He could see some fist-sized green and black round fruits on the branches in the canopy. He didn't smell the fragrance, it should be just ordinary fruits. As for the fragrant fruit, it was probably eaten by these martial arts people.
I just don’t know how many fragrant fruits the camphor tree can bear.
In his simple understanding, fragrant fruit is relatively rare. There are only two fragrant fruits in the black bean, and the pasta tree has produced three fragrant fruits.
The first time there is only one fragrant fruit, which is a strong fragrance; the second time there are more than a dozen fragrant fruits, which are light fragrance; the third time there are six, which are also light fragrance.
"If my black sap tree continues to grow, it will probably be able to bear the second batch of fragrant fruits, right?"
While thinking, suddenly the sound of a car came from a distance. A group of people rushed out of the street at one end of the fork in the road and moved the blocked cars away. Then an SUV rushed out of the smog and plunged into the camphor haze-free area. Many survivors quickly gathered towards the SUV.
A few people got out of the car.
Wearing a police uniform and having a clear gun around her waist, she was talking to the survivors something loudly.
It was too far away, and Fu Hongyang couldn't hear it clearly, but when he saw the three people watching the roof over there, one of them quickly got up and hurried downstairs, obviously also going to inquire about the news.
"Um."
Fu Hongyang touched his chin: "It looks like the atmosphere is pretty good, there should be no danger in the camphor camphor free haze area... The disaster has only happened for three weeks, and the survivors still seem to be normal."
