Chapter two hundred and eighty third lame strategy

During the Spring and Autumn Period, King Fuchai of Wu excavated the earliest section of the Grand Canal of China, Hangou, to connect the Yangtze River and Huaihe River. Huai'an has been with the canal since then.

Later, Emperor Yang Guang of Sui Dynasty dug the canal, and Huai'an Prefecture was one of the four prefectures of Su, Hangzhou, Huai and Yang, and four major canal transportation towns on the canal.

The Northern Expedition Army camped on the high slope to the west, overlooking the Huai'an City below, surrounded by Zicheng. Dahewei, Liu Lingtai, and Qingjiangpu protected Huai'an City, making each other a corner easy to defend but difficult to attack.

In the Central Army camp, the generals of the Water and Fire battalions were all there, and they set up a sand table in the open area. The place has the best view and can clearly see the whole picture below. There is a road ahead, with prisoners constantly being taken to the camp below the slope to work.

Zhu Dadian pointed at the young general who was escorting him and said angrily: "Are you blind? Can't you see us discussing matters here?"

Hou Xuanyan was proud and said disdainfully: "A group of captured Qing dogs, let them be a coolie first. I will kill the sacrificial flag sooner or later. It's just a group of dead people. What are you afraid of?"

The Qing soldiers who were escorted howled, and the Northern Expedition Army stabbed several of them to death with one shot, dragged their bodies away and continued to escort them.

Hou Xuanyan pointed Huai'an on the sand table and said: "The ancient Huaihe Road is low-lying and there are dozens of artificially dug salt-carrying rivers. As long as there is a large amount of water coming from above, it will inevitably flood several states and counties downstream."

There was a burst of exclamation around him, and Li Haoxian and Zhu Dadian were all hesitant, while other generals looked at each other, wanting them to speak out.

Hou Xuanyan seemed to be unaware of it and said excitedly: "We sent troops to occupy Qingjiangpu, broke the dike and reincarnate the five dams of the sea, and exploded all Nanguanba, Xinba, Zhongba, Cheluoba and Zhaoguanba. When the water from Hongze Lake is irrigated with Huai'an, the Qing soldiers will all be fish and turtles, hahahaha."

The entire camp was silent, only Hou Xuanyan's crazy laughter. Finally, Wu Yi, deputy commander of the Shui-Capital, could not help but say, "Duke, if the five dams of Guihai break down, it would be a big deal. Not only Huai'an was affected by disaster, but the entire Yangzhou was covered with mud. At that time, the suffering of more than one million people will be caused, and the prosperous Huaiyang will become a hell on earth. Finally, I think it is absolutely impossible to do so at this time, so I would like to ask the Duke to think twice."

Hou Xuanyan frowned, his tone was a little cold, and he was still concerned about Wu Yi's qualifications and said, "General Wu doesn't want the kindness of a woman. Now it is a dispute over national destiny and a dispute over Taoism. How can he care about the lives and deaths of some common people? The gains and losses of a city and a place are irrelevant. As long as the Huai'an defenders can be completely wiped out, we will manage the water and rebuild the two Huaihe Rivers after the Ming Dynasty is restored."

Wu Yi turned red and said angrily: "What is the Duke's saying? Can a million people be displaced? If we use this poisonous plan, what is the difference between us and the Qing Dynasty?" Although the generals and officials around him did not speak, they obviously agreed with Wu Yi, which made Hou Xuanyan's anger soar. Seeing everyone's reaction, Wu Yi became even more bold and continued: "In short, the matter of breaking the dam must not be broken, otherwise it will be infamous for thousands of years and leave a bad reputation in history. The Duke's achievements in replenishing the sky will also be overshadowed."

Hou Xuanyan said angrily: "Wu Yi! I miss you as an old man from the Huiyi Army. I have been tolerant of you again and again. You are not over yet. Be kind and do not control the soldiers. On the battlefield, you are alive and dead. I am ruthless. I use it well. Changzhou and Qingliu, which is not a disaster. They are like you. The Qing soldiers have long been trampled on the south of the Yangtze River."

Wu Yi didn't expect that in this situation, Hou Xuanyan would be stubborn and stammered his neck and said, "No matter what the Duke said, it's useless, you must break the dam!"

Hou Xuanyan kicked over the sand table with one kick, which made her feet hurt. Her toes kept rising on the ground and stepped on the sand and drove out a pit. Li Haoxian took a breath and said to himself: "The Supervisor is too hard, I'm afraid the fingernail will be knocked off now."

Because of the severe pain under his feet and his voice became even sharper, Hou Xuanyan simply raised three decibels and shouted: "If you are against you, it will be your turn to issue orders? I said that if you can do it, you can do it. Pass the orders, attack Qingjiangpu and blow up the embankment!"

Wu Yi rolled up his sleeves, and was mighty and unable to bend: "Hou Xuanyan, you are stubborn and self-righteous. If you do this vicious plan, you will die if you do evil."

"Take it down for me and kill it."

Wu Yi is a veteran, and the generals around him knelt down and pleaded for him. Hou Xuanyan's anger was still unrest: "This guy is arrogant and rude and despises my military discipline. He will be punished by death. He will be beaten with fifty military sticks."

The young general who escorted the captive seemed to be frightened by this huge change and stopped in place.

Thousands of Qing soldiers and prisoners watched coldly, looking at the soft sticks of the executioners and Wu Yi's unconscious howling, they were extremely despised.

A cavalry of the Qing army and the ginseng general beside him muttered in a low voice: "Even if I am a soldier like me, I can see clearly. These people regard us as fools."

The Qing general next to him was a general of the Eight Banners of the Han Dynasty. His eyes flashed with brilliance, but he said happily: "He deliberately acted for us to show him, and most of the time he wanted us to go back and send a message so that his plan would succeed. We are blessed and hopeless to escape from death. You wait, this beaten general will come to us tonight."

The young general of the Northern Expedition Army finally reacted, whipped the back of a Qing soldier with a whip and cursed: "What are you looking at? A group of pigs with braids, why don't you leave quickly?"

That night, Wu Yi's request for surrender was placed on Wakda's case. Although the people in Huai'an were panicked, the rich and salt merchants were still relatively firm. They did not want Hou Xuanyan to enter Huai'an. After all, during the period of occupation of the Qing Dynasty, those who refused to surrender had long died. Each of the remaining rich and prosperous merchants were lackeys of the Qing court. They had long heard of Hou Xuanyan's methods. Many of the collusion merchants who died in Yangzhou were their friends. With the support of these people, coupled with Zheng Zhilong's supplies, Wakda could be said to be rich. None of the Eight Banners soldiers in the Qing Dynasty could compare with him with excellent weapons and abundant food.

Wakda couldn't understand Chinese characters, and a Han staff member shook his head and read the surrender book with a flattering smile. Wakda kept shook his head: "Why is this so familiar?"

The Han staff laughed and said, "The Han people have a book called Romance of the Three Kingdoms. This is how Zhou Yu in the book beats Huang Gai."

Wakda slapped the table and laughed wildly: "I said why are you so familiar? It turns out that Hou Xuanyan wants to give me a bitter plan. It seems that he wanted to trick me out of the city, ambush the way to Qingjiangpu, and want to ambush us. Unfortunately, even if he is Zhou Yu and Wu Yi is Huang Gai, I am not Cao Cao."

The staff thought to himself: Although this barbarian is vulgar, he remembers the characters of the Three Kingdoms quite well.
