Chapter Thirty-Three The Great Array of Prisoners
"Four ancient beasts,"
I shouted in shock, I know very little about the sayings passed down from ancient times, but it is said that the four ferocious beasts are the incarnations of the four ancient legends, Sanmiao, Huando, Gonggong, and Gun, and they transformed into Taotie, Hundu, Qiongqi, and Jianwu after their death, while Sanmiao, Huando, Gonggong, and Gun were the leaders of the four tribe clans of ancient times. They were said to have been subjugated because of rebellion, but after their death, they transformed into four ferocious beasts.
"Shan Hai Jing·Beishan Jing" says: "There are many jades on the mountain on it, and there are coppers on it, and there are beasts on it, which are like a sheep's body and human face. Their eyes are under the armpits, their teeth and human claws are like babies, and their sounds are like babies. It is called a roe owl, which is a vegetarian." The roe owl refers to Taotie. The "Shenyi Jing·Western Wilderness" records: "Taotie, the name of the beast, the body is like a cow, the face is human, and the eyes are under the armpits, and they eat people." It also says: "There are people in the southwest, with hairy bodies and pigs on their heads. They are very evil in nature, they are good at rest, accumulate wealth but do not use them, and they are good at seizing people's grains. The strong seize the old and weak, and they fear the crowd and hit the single, and they are called Taotie."
There are many legends about Taotie, but the name of viciousness is the only one that remains unchanged.
There are many different opinions about Hun Dun. The "Shenyi Jing·Xihuang Jing" records: "There is a beast in the west of Kunlun. It looks like a dog, with long hair and four feet, two eyes and two ears but not hearing, a belly but not organ, a straight intestine but not spinning, food passes by, people have virtue and go against it, people have evil virtue and go rely on it, and angels are called Hun Dun." The earliest saying about Hun Dun was "Hun Dun Kaiji", the emperor in the South China Sea was called Shu, the emperor in the North China Sea was called Hu, and the emperor in the Central China was called Hu.
Shu and Hu often gathered at Hun Dun. Hun Dun treated them as if they were out. Shu and Hun Dun discussed how to repay Hun Dun's friendship. They finally said, "People have eyes, ears, noses, and mouths. For viewing, listening, eating, and breathing, but Hun Dun has nothing. Let's try to dig the seven orifices for him." So they chiseled the seven orifices for Hun Dun, and one orifice in one day. On the seventh day, when the seven orifices are all opened, Hun Dun will die.
The legend of ferocious beasts originates from some people saying that it is fat and round in shape, red like fire, with four wings and six legs. Although it has no facial features, it is able to understand singing, dancing and music. There is also a saying that Hun Dun is an animal like a dog or a bear. Humans cannot see it or hear it. It often bites its tail and smiles foolishly. If it meets a noble person, Hun Dun will commit violence; if it meets a villain, Hun Dun will obey his command.
"Zuo Zhuan·The Eighteenth Year of Duke Wen" says: "In the past, Emperor Hong had an untalented man who concealed his righteousness and hid thieves and liked to commit crimes. The world was called Hun Dun."
Qiongqi is said to be transformed after Gonggong's death. According to legend, during the Fuxi period, there was a tribe of the Gonggong clan in China. Its appearance, face, snake body, red hair, and a very irritable temperament. Gonggong clan had two notorious gods. One was Xiangliu with nine heads. It also had a human-faced snake body, with a blue body, cruel and greedy temperament, and was dedicated to killing; the other was a vicious and evil wandering.
The people of Gonggong are good at speaking and are full of splendor, but they are very evil in doing things. They are respectful on the surface, but in fact they are lawless. The leader of Gonggong clan is Kang Hui, who has a fashionable body, red hair, iron arms and twisted tendons, and is more than ten feet tall and has infinite strength.
Kang Hui was respectful on the surface but cunning on the inside and full of conspiracies. However, due to Fuxi's great power, it was the best for the sake of temporarily endurance. After Fuxi left, the people of China respected Nuwa. Kang Hui was jealous and relied on the high and dangerous terrain of his fief, which led to a vast flood of floods that endured the Central Plains, causing the land of China to be overwhelmed. Nuwa could not bear it anymore and decided to lead the people of China to eradicate Gonggong. After Gonggong died, his resentment was difficult to calm down and he turned into Qiongqi.
"Shan Hai Jing·Hai Nei Bei Jing" records: "Qiongqi looks like a tiger, with wings, and eats people from the beginning, and they eat their hair." It's so terrifying... "Shenyi Jing" says: "There is a beast in the northwest, which looks like a tiger, and has wings that can fly, so it can suppress the eaters. Those who know people's words and eat straight food when they hear people's loyalty and trustworthiness will eat their noses, and those who hear people's evil deeds and bad deeds will kill beasts to feed them, which is called Qiongqi."
The 文文 refers to Gun. "Records of the Grand Historian: The Basic Annals of the Five Emperors" says: "The Zhuanxu family has a talented man who cannot teach him a lesson and does not know how to speak. The world is called the 文文文." This means that Gun was the descendant of the Zhuanxu family.
Mencius said: "Shun Liu Gong was crafted in Youzhou, released Huan Du in Chongshan, killed San Miao in Sanwei, and killed Gun in Yushan, and surrendered four crimes, and all the world was obeyed, and he was punished with unkindness. The most unkindness was so unkind that he was granted the title of "Gun"." Gun, who was ranked alongside the other three ferocious beasts, refers to the "Jian".
There is also a saying that it is a prehistoric beast that is widely circulated among the people. It is said that it is one of the three major beasts sealed by Emperor Xuanyuan. The saying that the neighbors in the village verbally teach it is: The sakura has eight legs, four eyes, and two mouths. Every time he appears, he must swallow a hundred people before he can stop. Emperor Xuanyuan finally defeated him with the help of the gods. He sealed him under the Nine Nethers and will never be reborn.
The four ancient beasts all have magical powers that destroy the world. As Gu Tan said, even if their true bodies are no longer there and have even become distant legends, the spirits left by them are enough to compete with gods and demons. At this point, the Heaven-Prisoning Array that is fused with the spirits of the four ancient beasts is by no means comparable to ordinary formations, and even the top formations of Maoshan Sect are comparable.
When you are in this formation, the thoughts in your body cannot play a role at all. What is a small witch? Now is the simplest proof.
"Since the array eyes are distributed over the spirits of the four ferocious beasts, there are obviously no ferocious beasts around them. Can we not touch them at all, or even see them?"
I thought about it and frowned.
When Gu Tan heard this, he said lightly: "That is your practice that is so shallow that you do not understand the ways in it. This Heaven-Prisoning Array exists to protect the sixth level. The value of this array is equivalent to all the treasures in the treasure halls. Correspondingly, if this array is broken, then the treasures in the treasure halls will be obtained by people. However... the power of this array is huge. If it cannot be broken, it will be imprisoned forever forever. Even if the body is destroyed, the three souls and seven spirits will be swallowed by the spirits of the four ferocious beasts. It is a hundred times more cruel than the souls that are scattered."
Shangguan Jin shook all over and said in a trembling voice: "Then, how can we break the formation?"
Maybe it was an illusion, but I believe I could hear it clearly. Gu Tan sighed lightly and said, "Breaking the Formation, Humph, if you can't even understand the mystery of the Prisoning Heaven Array, don't talk about breaking the Formation, even if you die, I'm afraid you don't know how to die."
After a pause, Gu Tan continued, "The four gates you saw when you came in are actually the four death gates of the Heaven Prisoning Array. No matter which gate you enter, you will eventually come here. However, there are some subtle differences in each gate. As long as you find that difference, you can find the way to break the formation. I believe Yang Yuanshan will not be so stupid that he can't see this point... I was a little unwilling to accept it. I didn't expect that the last treasure to maintain the mountain would fall into the hands of Tantric Buddhism..."
The first few sentences of Gutan are easy to understand, but the last two sentences are a bit strange. The last treasure of the mountain "Simplified Chinese Dictionary of the Great Cave Voucher of Shangqing" has clearly not been found yet. Why is Gutan's subtle meaning saying that this treasure eventually falls into the hands of Tantric Buddhism? Tantric Buddhism of course refers to the master, but why can he determine that the master will get it first?
It's really puzzling...
"Why is this happening? Master, you have worked so hard to come here, why do you just watch the Tantric people get the last treasure? If you are willing to give up, then your disciples will help you take it back."
Shangguan Jin gritted his teeth, and the joints of his hands were pinching, and his feet suddenly moved, and he walked step by step towards the location where Gutan was. This time, he didn't seem to be planning to stop again.
"Teacher...Senior brother, what kind of madness did Shangguan Jin get? Why did he become so scary in the blink of an eye?"
The ghost kid grabbed my clothes tightly and asked in a low voice.
