30. Dark Stories - Blood Orphans
"Are you Barry?"
In Central City, at Sheriff Joe West's home, Merlin handed the cane to Agent Jimmy beside him, who struggled to help the chief hold the heavy steel cane.
Merlin squatted down and stood in front of a depressed boy. He looked at the sad child in front of him, and said in a gentle tone:
"I'm your father's friend, Barry, you can call me Uncle Merlin."
Barry did not answer, and a slightly larger black girl with braids sitting beside Barry said to Merlin:
"Barry doesn't speak, he's been like this since yesterday, and he's like this when my dad brought him back."
"Barry doesn't speak because he's sad."
Merlin said to the little girl:
"Are you Barry's friend? The cute little girl."
"My name is Iris West."
The little girl looked at Barry and said:
"I want to be his friend, but Barry doesn't talk to me."
"You will definitely become his good friend."
Merlin smiled at the little girl, he looked back at Little Barry, and he said:
"You want to see your father, right? Little Barry."
After hearing this, Little Barry, who had not responded, immediately raised his head and looked at Merlin with a gaze. The 8-year-old child said:
"Yes, Joe won't let me see my dad, Uncle Merlin, can you help me? Can you take me to see my dad?"
"certainly."
Merlin stretched out her fingers and scraped Barry's nose, and he said to the child:
"Of course I will help you, but I need you to promise me something."
"What's up?"
Barry stood up and looked at Merlin. Merlin pointed to Iris behind Barry, and he said:
"After we come back, you are going to be friends with Iris, your best friend, can you promise me?"
"Um!"
Barry nodded vigorously, and he turned around, gave Iris a hug, and then kissed Iris on the cheek. This is the way the child represents intimacy.
Aris was caught off guard, and she screamed and pushed Barry away, then ran into her room.
Barry didn't care, he looked back at Merlin and said:
"Uncle Merlin, Iris and I are friends. Can you take me to see my dad?"
"What a clever little ghost."
Merlin stretched out her hand and touched Barry's hair, and he said to Barry:
"Close your eyes and count 1, 2, 3, and after you count, you will see your dad."
"You won't lie to me, are you?"
Barry looked at Merlin with a suspicion, the latter shrugged, and a smile struggling on his pale face, he said:
"I'm your father's friend, how could I lie to you?"
Barry took a deep breath, closed his eyes, stretched out his fingers, and counted softly:
“1,2”
Merlin reached out and placed his hand on Barry's shoulder, wrapped Barry with magic, and the next moment he and Barry disappeared into the room.
The shape-shifting curse has a great mental pressure on ordinary people. Merlin must carefully maintain his magic power so that he will not hurt Little Barry's spirit. But even so, when Barry opened his eyes, the child's face was still pale and his head was a little dizzy.
But his father really appeared in front of him.
Henry, with a haggard face, was staying in his cell. The moment he turned around, he saw Merlin who suddenly appeared, and Barry beside him, his son.
"dad!"
Barry screamed and rushed towards Henry.
Henry subconsciously opened his arms and hugged his son tightly in his arms.
The child's voice attracted the attention of the detective, but when he walked over, he saw Merlin blocking the door of the cell with a cold face, holding the black ID in Merlin's hand, which made the detective shrugg.
He turned and left without disturbing the father and son's brief reunion.
Merlin sent the detective away, and he looked back at Henry, who was half kneeling on the ground and helping Barry clean up his clothes and hair.
His movements were so gentle and so full of emotion that Merlin couldn't bear to watch it any longer.
He knew that under Henry's stubbornness and protection of his children, he could do too little. Even secret agents could not force a person to avoid his own responsibilities.
Just ten minutes later, after Merlin sent Barry back to Officer Joe West's house, an unexpected man appeared next to Merlin with a shape-shifting spell.
"Sir, there is an emergency news from Agent Colson!"
Dressed in a small uniform, with a toad glasses, and a magic wand like a wooden stick hanging around her waist, the "Little Demon" Dubby accurately jumped out of the halo of the shapeshift curse and appeared in Merlin.
Merlin looked at the panting little devil, and he knew that something troubles had come again.
Colson, Melinda, and Sharon, both knew Dobi's existence, but they generally did not ask Dobi to send messages to them. Dobi's execution was a more important task.
But now that Dobby appears here, it means something must have happened that Colson cannot ignore.
Merlin breathed a sigh of relief, he looked at Dobby.
Merlin, who was a little tired of the incident between Matt and Henry, whispered:
"What's the matter?"
Dobby secretly glanced at the chief's not so happy expression. This special consultant nicknamed "The Little Demon" was a little hesitant, not knowing whether he should tell Merlin the bad news.
But its hesitation attracted Merlin's scolding.
"Doby! Tell me, what happened!"
"yes!"
Hearing his name, Dobi subconsciously straightened his body. It hesitated for 2 seconds, then lowered his voice and said to Merlin:
"A crash occurred in South America. Two scientific agents from SHIELD were killed in the incident. They were Mr. Richard Parker and Ms. Mary Parker."
Merlin's body shook for a moment, and he looked a little shaky. His face turned pale at this moment, and the light in his eyes was as cold as the cold wind.
He looked at Dobi, and his eyes that seemed to be trying to eat people made Dobi take several steps back in fear.
“Where is the location?”
Merlin's voice had never been as tired as it is now, and he asked in a strange tone without ups and downs.
"Take me over."
His fingers were gently hooked, and the steel cane that was held in the hand of Agent Jimmy fell into his hand.
Dobby reached out and placed it on Merlin's cane.
Given Merlin's current situation, this kind of shape-shifting spell across continents would make Dobie release it better.
As the little devil's fingers danced, the two people disappeared from the spot in the twist of the light.
When they appeared again, they had already crossed tens of thousands of kilometers to a remote canyon in Polival. Several military vehicles and SHIELD official vehicles were parked there in the canyon. At the bottom of the canyon, the wreckage of planes scattered within a radius of thousands of meters and still emitting black smoke looked so miserable.
So desolate
"Have you found someone?"
Merlin stood at the top of the canyon, looking at the scene of the disaster. At this moment, he realized that he had asked a stupid question. Looking at the wreckage of the plane, he should know that under such circumstances, it is impossible to find the complete body again.
He only met with the Richards, but they were not just colleagues, but also family members. He had promised the Richards would take good care of their child, Peter Little, but now
What should he bring this bad news back to his cousin’s house?
When Peter grew up, how should he tell the child this fact?
"Bang"
Merlin seemed to have lost his strength suddenly, and he sat on the ground, frightening the little devil next to him.
He sat there, looking at the wreckage below, and he said:
"What the hell is going on?"
"Why why is this happening?"
"One after another, is this proving something? Is this a reminder?"
"you"
Merlin clenched his fists, he looked at the sky, gritted his teeth, and said word by word:
"What the hell do you want to do!"
—
"We don't want to do anything."
At the gambling table at the end of the stars, the overlord Seber also looked at the direction of what was going on in front of him with a surprised look. He was like explaining himself, saying:
"It really has nothing to do with us at least has nothing to do with me."
He turned his head and looked at the god of death standing on the other side, and he said:
"Did you do this?"
The god of death didn't even look at him, and the cold elf said casually:
"Am I such a boring person?"
A few seconds later, the tone of death also became a little hesitant. His one-eyed eye looked at the light curtain in front of him, and he said:
"It seems that several lines have ushered in a turning point at the same time, he is really unlucky."
"But I guess he won't listen no matter how you explain it."
The Overlord looked at the light curtain in front of him, and he looked at the eyes of Merlin's hatred and anger on the light curtain, and shrugged:
"Looking at his eyes, he has hated us. I really want to beat us up now, even kill us, although he doesn't know our existence."
"It's okay."
Death said calmly as ice:
"The tempering of the soul is also a trial. If he is finally able to vent his anger to us, then I will accept this challenge with pleasure. No explanation or intervention, mediocre experiences cannot give birth to greatness, let me see it."
"Under this heavy pressure, what choice will he make."
—
The next afternoon, in the dusk light, Merlin dragged her tired body, leaning on her cane, and walked heavily into St. Matthew's Church.
He sat in his position before him, closed his eyes and placed his cane aside, as if he was continuing to think about the answers to yesterday's unanswered questions.
More than ten minutes later, just like yesterday, Father Paul, who had completed the sermon, walked into the church with the scriptures.
He saw Merlin at a glance.
I also saw the bleakness and heaviness wrapped around Meilin. It seemed that this young man had just experienced some very bad things.
The priest did not immediately disturb Merlin.
He knew that what Merlin needed now was the quietness of being alone.
So the priest went to the church to work hard, sitting in the daily cleaning and rectification, until an hour later, Father Paul, who had completed a prayer, stood up. He looked back at Merlin, who was like a sculpture, sat on a chair, motionless.
This made the priest a little worried. He walked to Merlin and looked at Merlin.
Although the latter closed his eyes, he also felt the priest approaching. At the moment when Father Paul spoke, Merlin suddenly asked in a hoarse and low voice:
"Father, I feel very upset."
"Why?"
Father Paul asked, when Merlin opened her eyes, she could see the fire of anger shining in Merlin's eyes through the lenses of her glasses.
The latter said in a low and dull voice:
"I have witnessed tragic things, those things that arise because of me, those evil consequences that come because of me, and I want to avenge those miserables, but I don't know where to stab the blade to, I want to vent my inner flames, but I don't know where to ignite it to enlighten me?"
"The people who want to hurt us have always existed, Merlin."
The priest held the scriptures in his hand, and at the dusk that spilled into the church, he said to Merlin:
"In order to protect ourselves, we do not hesitate to awaken the demons in our hearts. When the precious things are taken away, our first reaction is revenge."
"This is normal, Merlin, everyone has their own inner demon, which doesn't mean there is something wrong with you."
Faced with the priest's guidance, Merlin did not say anything. A few seconds later, he said:
"I want to beat those who have hurt them, I want to kill them, I want to see their blood overflowing, I want to bury them, I want to listen to their screams when they rot under the soil."
"I want to destroy their world, destroy their lives, just like the people they care about, the people I love do, all this, this idea, does it mean that I am a bad person?"
Unlike the plain voice before, when Merlin spoke his inner thoughts, the gritting voice, the twisted expression, and the rushing flames in his eyes seemed to have allowed Father Paul to see a demon awakened in the church.
Maybe it's not an illusion
But facing Merlin's inquiry, Father Paul was silent for a few seconds. He drew a cross on his chest and said to Merlin:
"If this doesn't mean you are an ordinary person."
"Yes, I'm just an ordinary person."
Merlin leaned against the chair, and he looked at the sculpture of Christ before him, and said:
"I am an ordinary person, so I cannot destroy, save, can't stop bad things, and can't do good things."
"I want to do good things, I always want to do good things. I work very hard to do good things and do my best to do good things. But why, my efforts are always accompanied by setbacks, pain, and hurt."
“How can I be someone who can be someone else rely on”
Merlin closed his eyes and said weakly:
"Tell me, priest"
