1. The Nightcrawlers

At night, in the large library of the Magic France Society, Merlin was sitting on a beautifully decorated black velvet chair.
At his hand, there were a few books that were very ancient at first sight. In front of Meilin, a heavy parchment book written in ancient language was opened. On his left hand, there was a quill that was sliding rapidly.
Obviously, this is Merlin excerpting some important information.
It is now the fifth day after the Richards' funeral, and the ninth day after Merlin was officially suspended.
He lives a leisurely life, at least on the surface it looks very leisurely.
A few minutes later, a fat wizard in casual clothes came to the opposite Merlin with a fruit platter like a small tower. He sat on the chair with a smile, and his fingers swung his fingers. The fruit still stained with dew fell in front of Merlin.
"I heard you are here, so I'll visit you."
Fat wizard Esinus sat on a chair opposite Merlin. He glanced at the book Merlin was reading, and he said:
"The Treaty of Night Walker? Even the wizards of the book don't look at this boring thing, but you're interested in it. So, let me guess, someone is going to be in trouble, right?"
"Maybe I'm going to be in trouble."
While maintaining the magic supply of the copying curse, Merlin reached out his hand and twisted a purple grape from the fruit platter and put it in his mouth. He felt the sweet taste and said to the fat wizard in front of him:
"Didn't you hear that? There was a vampire who spent a lot of money to buy my head."
"hehe."
The fat wizard smiled disdainfully, and he said:
"In New York, if anyone takes that reward, it means that it has a bad mind. I want to buy the head of the Sdold leader for $20 million. That vampire Dicken is afraid that everyone is treating everyone as a fool."
"Of course, I heard that vampire was smart and sly, so I guess he wasn't doing stupid things."
"He may have just made this gesture on purpose to attract more swaying vampires to stand on his side and fight against the American Presbyterian Church with him."
"Like a politician who dares to say anything and do anything for the sake of votes."
Merlin reached out and flipped the pages of the book in front of him, and he said calmly:
"It's politics again, even the vampires talk about this. Oh my God, this really makes me feel a little nauseous."
"But you're starting to dig into them now."
Esinus glanced at the ancient dictionary in Merlin's hand and said softly:
"Can I understand that you are looking for their weaknesses? Are you and your cold-blooded agents ready to attack them?"
"Stop making trouble."
Merlin raised her head, and a gentle smile appeared on her face, which had begun to regain its rosyness. He pointed at himself and said:
"I was suspended, and this news is probably spread throughout the alien world in New York. Now I am just an isolated and poor sick person. I just look at these things to protect myself."
"But that's it."
Meilin's eyes fell back to the dictionary in front of him, and his voice became softer:
"Some people have already regarded me as a stepping stone and are ready to step on it hard. If I don't say anything, wouldn't I seem too unlucky?"
"Ha ha."
The fat wizard laughed and said:
"I knew you were not someone who would not fight back after being beaten."
"Speak softer, please."
Merlin glanced at the fat wizard and said:
"You disturbed me from studying."
"My fault, my fault."
The fat wizard who was familiar with Merlin raised his hands, and he stood up with a smile and said to Merlin:
"Then I won't bother you anymore, I'm going to work hard. The deterrent operation in Queens triggered a series of chain reactions. Now some vampires are evacuating from other districts. It seems that they are frightened and ready to shrink their defense."
"We don't need to be polite to the remaining deadly tough guys."
After saying that, Esinus was about to leave, but Merlin called him to death.
"I want to exchange a few spells for the Demon France Club."
Merlin said to the fat wizard:
"Who should I look for?"
"It depends on what kind of spell you change."
The fat wizard turned around and patiently explained:
"From our previous years of cooperation, you are also considered to be a member of the Demon France Society. If it is a common spell, you can go to the Wizard Management Department to find the Wizard, Roglio, you know him, right? The guy who is a little bald but has a good reputation as a woman and likes to hang out in Muggle nightclubs."
"But if it's an advanced spell, it's more troublesome."
“How to say it?”
Merlin asked:
“Does it require a transaction?”
“The deal is just one aspect.”
Esinus said:
"You also know the troublesome inheritance rules in the wizarding world. Advanced spells are the most important property of the Demon French Society. Those knowledge is only open to the real 'own people', and they must contribute to the Demon French Society, or exchange them with some rare magic materials before they can be allowed to enter the Demon French Society to copy."
"Um."
Merlin frowned and nodded to the fat wizard:
"Okay, I understand. Go and do it. I will find you again if you need it."
The fat wizard nodded to Merlin and then quickly walked out of the library. In the headquarters of the Demon French Society, the use of the shapeshift spell is not allowed.
Fortunately, there are elevators to various areas in this place, which will not make wizards with generally poor physical fitness exhausted and panting.
After Esinus left, Merlin began to read the dictionary in his hand again.
This thing is called "A Brief History of the Night Walker Treaty". Just from the name, you know that this thing must be related to those guys who like to wander in the dark. On the white paper at Merlin's hand, the fast moving quill also outlines lines of beating beautiful words on the paper.
"The Treaty of Night Walkers was signed in Jerusalem in the first century AD. His Majesty Xia Kezhe, the leader of the monster world, signed a memorandum treaty with Pope St. Peter of the church at that time under the witness of the wizards."
"Night walkers generally refer to blood clans, werewolfs, succubus, etc., and need to live in human populations and conceal their existence, while the human superiors give them corresponding protection."
"The background of the signing of this treaty was the most in full swing of the 'Millennium War' between heaven and hell forces. The monster world and human civilization formed an alliance to resist the threat from the Millennium War. However, with the rapid progress of human civilization, and the Xiake family's rule over the monster world collapsed, the "Night Walker Treaty" was basically declared invalid in the late Middle Ages."
"However, during the hundreds of years of the agreement, the Nightcrawlers have become accustomed to existing in human civilization in disguise. Although this concealment of itself is more of a long-term thinking of protecting 'food' rather than simply continuing to fulfill the ancient agreement. However, from a macro perspective, the existence of the Nightcrawler Treaty has indeed allowed the relatively weak human civilization at that time to spend the most difficult time."
"This is an ancient agreement that has really worked. Its existence was necessary in that ignorant era. And for the ancient alien families, it was not just a simple legend, but more like the code of action of the Night Walkers."
"Unfortunately, after the 19th century, more and more young vampires just regarded it as a rumor that spreads rumors and did not obey it. This also caused many bad events, which once gave wizards a headache."
Merlin's copying of "A Brief History of the Night Walker Treaty" ends here.
This book observes and records the content and influence of this ancient treaty from the perspective of a wizard, which is equivalent to a summary history book. But Merlin can still learn ancient wisdom from it.
Sdold has always been troubled by how to deal with the relationship between humans and heterogeneity. Perhaps this treaty that existed 2,000 years ago can be a reference example.
He posted the book "A Brief History of the Night Walker Treaty" aside and picked up another book.
The name of this book is something.
It is called "Suggestions for Young Witch Hunters".
It looks like something similar to an indecent biographies, but the author of this book is unusual. Merlin picked up the dictionary and under the cover of the book, there is a gold-burning name that jumps like a burning flame.
That doesn't seem like a name.
"Gelot of Livia."
Merlin pronounced that name, and what appeared in his mind was a nickname that matched the name.
"The White Wolf was active in the Middle Ages and is known as the greatest witch hunter."
Of course there is another nickname that is not so serious.
"'Soulwoman Harvester'. It is said that he has maintained an inappropriate relationship with at least 7 famous souvenirs in his life. Tsk, he is such a lively senior."
Merlin sighed and then opened the not-so-thick book.
It is essentially an essay-like book that records some mistakes made in the White Wolf's life in demon hunting, and reminds those irritable juniors not to make the same mistakes.
The quill at Meilin's hand began to move again, and lines of beautiful fonts appeared on the paper that had been written as much as printing.
"If you're a witch hunter who's just a first time on this trip, and if you're going to take a adventure in Romania, I'll give you some advice:"
"First of all, the vast majority of vampires are not afraid of crosses, so don't try to attack them with crosses. The rumors of vampires fearing crosses come from the Night Walker Treaty, which ancient agreement stipulates that vampires cannot attack civilians wearing crosses. But now that treaty is in name only."
"Of course, if you're holding a heavy enchanted cross warhammer, then you can ignore this suggestion and look at the next one."
"Holy Water! This is the most useful thing when dealing with vampires. Of course, there are various ways to make holy water, and no matter which one is used, it has a bad effect on vampires. Here, I will list the methods of making Fiery Holy Water that I often use. Pay attention to. If you don't understand alchemy, it is best to find a professional to help you make it."
"It's best to bring enough garlic before entering Romania. The taste of this thing will not only make vampires feel disgusted, but most importantly, when you're hungry to prepare your barbecue, garlic can also make your bad food delicious."
"If you can, novices, it is best to put the battlefield with vampires in the sun. The sunlight will burn vampires, and long-term sunlight will cause vampires to enter a state of detachment and weakness."
"Use the Holy Silver Sword in your hand to stab them hard. A large amount of blood loss will cause the vampire to enter dormant. But don't take it lightly, because they only need to replenish blood in time to be resurrected again."
"The vampires have both attack speed and pursuit speed, so they are the first to attack their legs. If they are advanced vampires, then attack their wings."
"Vampires can easily avoid crossbow arrows. If you are not a hunting master who uses crossbow arrows well, it is best to use silver swords to solve the battle. Don't get entangled with vampires at night, they can easily disappear in the shadows."
"Finally, the most important suggestion is that if you are a novice and you are chasing high-level vampires, then for your life, you'd better give up the mission immediately. High-level vampires have various magic abilities, they can fly at low altitudes without the help of external forces, and they also have various ways to save their lives. That's not an enemy that novices can deal with."
"Of course, if you are dealing with female vampires, and if you are handsome, you can avoid fighting under certain circumstances through some special 'negotiation' methods, so as to complete the mission objectives other than killing. However, you need to always pay attention to their fangs. If you are accidentally bitten, the result will be very bad."
Meilin spent a few minutes watching the warning of the White Wolf to the novice vampire hunter. After reading the last suggestion, he frowned and condensed a mirror with his magic power and placed it in front of him.
Merlin looked at himself in the mirror, and he turned his cheeks. After a moment, he waved his hand to disperse the mirror and said to himself:
"Well, he's barely handsome."
"But I guess I can't use this suggestion."
