18. Remuneration

After hundreds of years of inheritance and evolution, the Assassin Alliance has become a very mature organization with a complete operating system.
Regardless of whether there is a ninja master or not, the affairs within this organization will be promoted according to a fixed set of processes.
Even at the moment when Master Ninja passed away, the members of the Assassin League still did not stop searching for the Assassin City South Dalbat. The last order issued by Master Ninja was to give up the exposed Nandalbat and transfer all the remaining power of the Assassin League base camp to Interlaken, Switzerland.
That was the territory that Lars Al Goul obtained hundreds of years ago. A long time ago, the Assassin Alliance built a reserve base in the Jungfrau mountains.
In the busy schedule to move large-scale migration, Meilin quietly observed the operating rules of this mysterious organization as an outsider.
Although he is not a member of the Assassin League, observing the style of this ancient organization can also bring him a lot of inspiration and experience in future management of SL.D.
To be honest, there are not many opportunities for observation like this.
Especially the ancient organization in front of him, its internal style is exactly two extremes with the "dividing management" advocated by S.H.I.E.L.D. manager Nick Fury.
At least in Merlin's eyes, there is no particularly obvious class distinction between these assassins, and what they advocate and perform is obviously group-style combat thinking.
The entire Assassin League is like a whole, and they don't seem to go alone when they do anything.
“A magnified version of the ‘Brotherhood’.”
Merlin, standing on a city wall, pushed his glasses and whispered:
"Constrain members with established rules and a sense of mission, and strengthen the concept of rules through continuous training, just like the legendary Spartans, who pursue collective honor while advocating personal glory."
"But this idea is more suitable for small and medium-sized organizations, and requires a strong leader to maintain it and lead by example, otherwise all kinds of problems are likely to arise."
Merlin shook her head:
“When managing large organizations, Fury’s set is obviously easier and faster to take effect.”
"What are you doing standing here?"
Just as Merlin was about to leave, Talia, wearing a mourning black dress, came to Merlin.
“I’m just looking at the scenery.”
Merlin pointed to the towering snow-capped mountains in the distance and said to Talia:
"I'm very curious, how many secrets are hidden on this snow-capped mountain at the ridge of the world?"
"I'm afraid you're going to be disappointed."
Talia walked forward and stood with Merlin. She looked at the mountains in the distance, which were towering into the clouds like snow dragons, and she said:
"I grew up here, and my father has been here for more than 300 years. For such a long time, my father has not been able to know all the secrets in this mountain range."
"For a while, I was as curious as you were about the secret hidden in the mountains. I tried to explore it, but was stopped by my father."
Talia said:
"He has warned me more than once that there are several places in this snow-capped mountain that are very dangerous for ordinary people. Some people call those places 'holy places'. Do you know what that means?"
"Um."
Merlin nodded and replied:
"Since it is a holy land, it means that it is not a place that ordinary people can enter."
"Just you know."
Talia brushed her hair, she said:
"Although you are mysterious and powerful in the eyes of more advanced powers, you are no different from ordinary people. There are many secrets that are very dangerous, Merlin, the secrets in the mountains are not something you can explore now."
Faced with Talia's well-intentioned warning, Merlin did not answer or deny it.
After a moment, he retracted his eyes from the snow-capped mountains and turned his head to look at Talia, he said:
"Then let's discuss the real issue. About my compensation?"
"I've sent it to you."
Talia waved her hand, and the two silent female warriors walked up to the city wall with two wooden boxes. Talia pointed to the two boxes and said:
"That's what you want."
Merlin walked forward and picked up the smaller box first. He opened the box and stored two irregular parchment papers. They were the two vacant pictures of the treasure map of the Furious Warrior's cane that Talia gave to Merlin.
But next to the parchment, there was a bank card.
Merlin picked up the bank card and looked back at Talia, who shrugged at him and said:
"I was frivolous when I was young and did something wrong and caused trouble. You can treat it as my apology."
"All right."
Merlin hesitated for a few seconds, but in the end he did not refuse the apologetic gift. Although it was very tacky, money is still quite useful in today's era.
As a senior agent of SHIELD, Merlin is not a truly rich man.
Although he has the cash flow of the SL.d. department and has the power to freely allocate funds, it is public funds after all, and Merlin's bottom line is not as low as it can pry Fury's corner.
His other identity is a wizard who has no job. He has to study new alchemy recipes and buy new magic materials. These all cost money. To be honest, since he jumped into the two pits of potions and alchemy, Merlin's daily expenses have actually remained at a very extreme state.
Of course, money is not a necessity for Merlin, so he didn't care too much about it.
He put the first small box into his pocket, then moved his fingers and opened the second box.
The moment the box was opened, a cold wind suddenly appeared on the city wall, blowing Talia's long hair back and forth. In the wind, there was a faint whisper, which sounded quite noisy.
“The Red Can of Claytus.”
Meilin looked at the box in front of him, the quaint, rough workmanship and no embellishment. At first glance, he could feel an obscure and dark force wrapped around the pot.
He stretched out his fingers and touched the surface of the pottery. At this moment, the hidden power that occupied Melin's fingers felt a sense of freezing and tingling.
This means that the power sealed in the jar in front of me can easily destroy Merlin's defense, and can even suppress the dark magic power from the Three Palaces in Merlin's body to a certain extent.
He withdrew his fingers and took the wooden box carefully. He whispered:
"It's indeed a dangerous thing"
"Do you know the exact origin of this thing?"
Talia, who was standing beside Merlin, asked:
"I just learned the name of the jar from my father. My father told me that it was part of a powerful magic weapon, an extremely dangerous thing. He stored it in the deepest part of the treasure house and sealed it with the spell left by the black wizard a hundred years ago."
“The Ninja Master’s caution is correct.”
Merlin put the wooden box into a large seal box and then locked several anti-magic locks on the box. While casting a confinement spell on the seal box, he explained to Talia:
"This red can is not an ordinary magic weapon. Even in the wizard's Ministry of Magic, such things will be given the highest level of alert."
“What’s in this jar?”
Talia looked at Merlin's movements and couldn't help asking:
"Devil?"
"Yes, a demon who is said to be born in ancient times was eternally sealed by another mysterious force tens of thousands of years before the birth of world civilization."
Merlin said:
"But since it is a seal, it will definitely be destroyed. But the interesting thing about the Red Can is that the ancient demon sealed in the can cannot be summoned alone."
"Tell me more."
Talia leaned against the wall on the side, she said:
"I'm not in a good mood now, and it might be a good pastime to listen to wizards telling stories."
"This is not a secret thing."
Merlin put the seal box that was imprisoned several times into his magic pocket, and then said to Thalia:
“Many wizards have heard of legends about the red cans, but few have seen them in person.”
"Claytus's Red Can, part of a complete set of dark artifacts, its complete name is 'Green Bell, Silver Wheel and Red Can'. Each of these three items is sealed with an ancient demon. No one knows the reason, but they are indeed brought down by the mysterious sealer a very strange rule of binding."
Merlin stretched out his finger, made a worship, shaking, and turning movement, he said:
"Only when three actions of worshiping the red can, shaking the green bell, and turning the silver wheel at the same time, the seal of the three ancient demons will be temporarily opened. And the life that makes these three actions will get all the power of the three ancient demons without reservation, but this is a deadline, and it can only last for 100 years."
"After the end of 100 years, if the user who has obtained the power of the three ancient demons has not died, he will be sacrificed to the three demons as a sacrifice, and they will also be free. But this freedom is also for a period of time, for the same 100 years."
Merlin said to Talia like a tutor who imparts knowledge:
"After the end of 100 years of freedom, no matter whether the three ancient demons are willing or not, they will be resealed into the three demon weapons and wait for the next cycle of reincarnation."
"No one knows how long the Green Bell, Silver Wheel and Red Can have been on Earth, but the only thing that is certain is that this weird cycle of reincarnation has never been interrupted. Every 100 years, there will be several supernatural events related to the Three Magic Armors. Of course, the way these events occur is often accompanied by large-scale bleeding and disasters."
"Oh, is that?"
Talia's eyes narrowed and she said to Merlin:
"I regret giving the red can to you so hasty now."
"Stop!"
Merlin reached out and grabbed a strand of Talia's hair, and pulled it hard, like a punishment, he warned:
"I know what you're thinking, but your father refuses to tell you the story of the Red Can in order to prevent you from having dangerous thoughts. Listen to me, Talia, gaining power by collecting three magic weapons, sounds beautiful, but it's a very deadly trap."
Merlin said seriously:
"First of all, without collecting all three magic weapons, using one or two of them alone will only activate the demonic power in the magic weapon in a destructive way. It will destroy anything around you without discrimination, and even the user cannot save it."
"Secondly, among all the records of the wizards, none of the lucky ones who gathered the three demons could live safely to the age of 100 and successfully released the three ancient demons in the endless cycle of reincarnation, and no more than three times."
Merlin warned:
"This fully proves the truth. That is, people who rashly trade with the demon will never have any good endings. So, Talia, for Bruce's sake, I advise you not to have any wrong thoughts."
"You know it's so dangerous, why do you still need to collect it?"
Talia knocked off Merlin's hand that pulled her hair, and she hugged her arms and asked suspiciously:
"I'm very suspicious now that you may have clues about the other two magic weapons in your hands, but unfortunately, I have no evidence."
"You're thinking too much."
Merlin said as usual:
"The clues of the Three Magical Artifacts are illusory. My luck is not so good that I can gather them all in just a few years. Where is Demian? It's time to check my body."
Merlin changed the topic a little stiffly. Obviously, he didn't want to talk too much with Talia about the Three Magical Artifacts.
Because Talia's guess originating from women's intuition is correct.
Meilin not only has clues about the Three Magic Weapons, but in addition to the Red Can, he already has another Three Magic Weapons in his hand.
That is Yustu's green bell.
In 1989, when Merlin first started his own trip, he encountered an old liar in Chicago. The psychic who was not good at learning tried to help Merlin "exorcist" with the unexpected green bell, but he got rid of it.
It almost killed Merlin, and the Green Bell was awakened for less than 2 seconds, and the magic it burst out almost flattened a street.
Green Bell was later recycled by Fury, and its code name in SHIELD was 89084-1. Since its recycling, Green Bell has been stored in a warehouse at Base No. 084.
After Merlin became a level 7 agent, he only learned about this when he was flipping through the files. Of course, he didn't know at that time that the Red Can was in the hands of the Assassin Alliance.
This is also an unexpected gain from Merlin's revenge journey.
The three magic weapons are very dangerous, but also very powerful. Due to Merlin's current situation, he needs more trump cards to deal with what may happen in the future.
If he could collect all three magic weapons, the dangerous thing would become the most powerful of all Merlin's trump cards.
But what is worse is that due to the long time and the appearance is rare, even the oldest wizard literature on the true strength of the Three Demons is vague.
Perhaps these three ancient demons are really powerful beings, but they are also likely to have become weak and even fallen over the long period of time.
If Merlin is not lucky, the three magic weapons he has spent a lot of energy to collect may be a waste that cannot be used or is far less powerful than expected.
"Come with me."
Talia turned around and walked down the wall, and she said to Merlin:
"My son admires his grandfather very much. My father's death has hit Damian very hard. I now have to coordinate the migration of the Assassin League and don't have much time to enlighten him."
"The child is indeed very strong, but this is the first time he has experienced the death of his loved ones since he was born."
"Merlin, I hope you can help me enlighten Demian and let him get out of that shadow of his soul as soon as possible."
Faced with Talia's request, Merlin hesitated for a moment, nodded and said:
"All right."
