1. S.D.O.L.D. Semester

As time entered May 2001, the entire S.H.E.L.D. became more and more busy.

After several years of hard work, this security organization, which belongs directly to the World Security Council, has successfully established its own branches in various regions of the world.

As the "territory" expands, more and more complex work content comes one after another.

As the director, Fury spent almost every day on the plane. He finally had a huge assistant group to help him sort out the information and information from all over the world in different categories.

As Merlin described, Fury was like a black spider lying in the middle of an increasingly large spider web, using his innate keen perception to sense those dangers that have happened or are about to happen.

It is not enough to perceive danger alone, he also needs a warrior who can deal with and prevent crisis.

One year ago, there were 5 special reaction troops within SHIELD, and one year later, the number reached 12.

One year ago, there were 57 departments in the Trident Building, and everyone had a lot of workplaces. But a year later, even though the entire Trident Building had already started underground facilities, it still could not meet the increasingly large office community.

Clint and Natasha, who once occasionally acted together, also had their own team and exclusive functions, performing various tasks in hot spots all day long in the world.

Calling and chatting has become a luxury.

Even Merlin, who had been very leisurely, began to gradually spread the regulatory scope of s.d.o.l.d. from two months under Fury's instructions, from New York City toward the entire East Coast.

However, the best news for s.d.o.l.d. is that for the sake of confidentiality, their department does not need to compete for office resources in the increasingly crowded Trident building and those emerging new departments.

Below the 21st Century Bell Telephone Company in the old city, the entire six floors of underground equipment can allow the agents of s.d.o.l.d. to be free to dominate. Merlin even "luxury" built a shooting range and a combat training ground for his agents on the 6th floor of the underground. If it were not for the intervention of his superiors, he even planned to build an indoor swimming pool.

Under Fury's repeated warnings, Merlin had to give up the plan to have an indoor swimming pool, but he still stubbornly bought large fish tanks in various offices.

Well, anyway, s.d.o.l.d. has a surplus in working funds every quarter. Before each grant period comes, the leaders of major departments such as Merlin, Colson, Melinda and Sharon have a headache, and can be said to rack their brains to make a sudden spending.

This has almost become the "tradition" of this department.

Even Miss Bloodstone, who is a consultant, has her own spacious office. In addition to the poor lighting, everything in this office satisfies Miss Bloodstone, especially the large desk that can be used to play the Gent brand.

However, today, the entire office area of s.d.o.l.d. seems very quiet.

Every internal agent put on a straight uniform and looked majestic. The field agents who needed to go out to work all showed a chill in the operation, trying hard to make themselves look deterrent.

As the commander, Colson rarely puts on the hair oil again, and the other two female commanders also puts the guns and documents they don't know how to use in the most conspicuous position.

It's like the inspection of the superiors is about to come.

But in fact, this is not the case.

At 10 o'clock in the morning, Merlin, carrying a handbag, wearing formal clothes and glasses, walked into the office area on the underground floor with a serious face. He raised his hand, looked at the time, and then said to several trustworthy subordinates in front of him:

"They are coming soon, you better prepare?"

"No problem, sir!"

Sharon, who had light makeup today, was wearing a blue and black uniform skirt. She hugged her arms and said coldly:

"We have all arranged in advance, which will definitely make them remember deeply!"

"I found the best field agents in the operation team as helpers."

Melinda, who has capable and short hair, also said coldly:

"Those rookies don't want to get away with it. Anyone who fails the test will be kicked out directly!"

"I think it's a bit of a big deal."

Colson was a little uncomfortable and plucked his shiny hair. He had never used hair oil since he started losing hair several years ago. If it weren't for the special occasion today, he wouldn't have used the "culprit" that caused his hairline to grow higher.

He said to his boss and colleagues with a hesitation:

"It's just a group of new rookie agents. We are holding a new welcome meeting, not identifying spies. Such a situation is a bit too exaggerated."

"You don't understand, Colson."

Merlin looked at the spotless office he had cleaned up and said to several others:

"This is the first large-scale new recruitment operation in the years since the establishment of s.d.o.l.d. has a special work content, so the new people we need are different from other departments. Even civilians and internal affairs agents need extremely high learning ability and adaptability. I don't want to recruit a group of soft and confused eggs into the department."

"Especially you guys will be transferred from headquarters soon to other areas on the East Coast to perform new positions as regional commanders."

Merlin sighed and said:

"In the past few years, I have finally cultivated a group of trustworthy alien hunters, but now I have to spill them all out."

He shook his head and said softly, but without doubt:

"In this case, I must ensure that the newcomers enter the work state in the shortest time, otherwise New York has just stabilized for less than a year and will be in trouble again."

"So, you must ensure the quality of the newcomers. We only want the best and best ones!"

"Okay, go to work now."

Merlin clapped her hands and said to the others:

"These two days will be very hard. I will personally interview a few newcomers recommended by Fury, and I will leave the other rookies to you."

Soon, with several black buses driving from the headquarters parked in the parking lot of the 21st Century Bell Telephone Company, the new work of s.d.o.l.d. was officially launched.

And Merlin, as the supreme commander of the department, does not need to come forward immediately.

After the recruitment of newcomers is completed, his department will have a large dinner, and until then, Merlin will come forward to speak or something.

He doesn't like to show up in public, but interim assistant Hill must have prepared manuscripts for him, so he can read them by reading them at that time.

Merlin sat in his office, and on his desk, there were several personnel files transferred from the director's office. These were the new agents recommended by Fury who had just graduated from ASCHEUTURE, and were considered the "seed" contestants among this group of newcomers.

He leaned against the chair, picked up the first file and opened it.

"Antoine Triplet, an outstanding graduate of the 2000th grade of the SHIELD Academy, has two years of experience in joining the army, is from a family of agents, and his grandfather is a member of the "Roaring Commando" led by Steve Rogers. He is proficient in light weapon shooting, airborne, fighting and reconnaissance, and has won the Purple Heart Medal."

Merlin looked at the young black man who was smiling brightly in the photo. He looked at the glorious resumes in this line. After a moment of thinking, he picked up the seal on the table and gently covered the file.

Well, this guy, was selected.

Merlin picked up the second file. The photo in this file was a pretty blonde beauty.

"Barbara.'Barbie' Morse, a family of agents, is a logistics agent of the Strategic Science Legion. She is an outstanding graduate of the 2000th grade of SHIELD Academy. She is the only student who gets full marks in Professor Natasha's disguise and reconnaissance subjects."

"Well, there are quite a few girls in the department."

Merlin rubbed her chin, and he looked at the file and said:

"It's very similar to Melinda's template. Maybe she can replace the vacancy left by Melinda."

"Bang"

Another seal was stamped on the file.

Then there is the third one.

"Zheng Shangqi? Fighting Consultant?"

Meilin frowned and looked at the honest photo, he shook his head.

"The name is weird, and the face is not as good as it can make people like it. When fighting against aliens, it is simply a search for death for ordinary agents. There is no suitable position here."

“Not passed!”

"Bang"

The file was thrown into the trash can.

Then there is the fourth portion.

"Alfonso McKinsey, an outstanding graduate of the 2000th grade of SHIELD Academy, proficient in engineering and data"

"Bang, bang"

Just as Merlin was reading the fourth personnel file, two knocks sounded. He put down the documents in his hand and looked at the office door. He said:

"Come in."

The next moment, a handsome guy wearing a blue jeans, with short golden hair and a soft face pushed open the door, poked his head out, and looked into the office. When he saw Merlin, a smile immediately appeared on his handsome face.

"Hi, Mr. Merlin, long time no see."

"Lincoln!"

Merlin didn't expect that the knock on the door was a young man who had met in Afghanistan. With an unexpected expression, he waved to Lincoln, who was carrying a big bag. After Lincoln sat on the chair opposite him, he asked:

"What are you doing here for me? Your Inhuman transformation has been completed?"

“It was done 1 year ago.”

Lincoln had a leisurely expression on his face. Compared to two years ago, the young man had much less gloom in his eyes, and replaced by a touch of true peace from the heart.

He said to Merlin:

"After separation from you, I have been undergoing ability control training in the 'afterlife'. 3 days ago, Instructor Gordon told me that I have a new task."

He lowered his head, searched in the big backpack he carried with him, then took out a resume and handed it to Merlin, and he said:

"Sir Merlin, I, Lincoln Campbell, will be the representative of the Inhuman organization "After Life" and a new agent in your department for the next three years. It is mainly to assist s.d.o.l.d. in searching for Inhuman in North America and send them to the Inhuman Life according to their choice, or to remove their Inhuman Instincts and turn them back into ordinary people."

Merlin did not answer immediately. He took Lincoln's resume. After opening it, he saw that there was already a seal from Fury's director's office and Fury's signature below the resume. This means that Fury decided on this matter.

It was probably some content that Fury had agreed upon after meeting the leader of the next life, Jiaying, about a while ago.

Merlin did not object to this matter. If S.H.I.E.L.D. wants to establish a cooperative relationship with the Inhuman organization, it will inevitably have initial contact. No matter from any perspective, it is appropriate to place Lincoln, who represents the Inhuman organization, in Merlin's department.

"Okay, it was the director who spoke in person, so I have no objection."

Merlin picked up his seal and prepared to stamp it on Lincoln's resume, but at this moment, he suddenly felt a little hesitant.

He raised his head, put down his seal, supported his chin with both hands, and looked at the gentle and handsome young man in front of him, and he said:

"But are you confident of doing this job well? Lincoln, you should already know the work content of our department, right?"

"I know, I'm ready, too."

Lincoln took a deep breath, like an interview, he said to Merlin:

“I will do my best to complete every task assigned to me!”

“‘Try your best’ and ‘complete’ are two concepts, Agent Lincoln.”

Meilin said slowly:

"Maybe you feel you're ready, but it's all left to time to test. If I think you're not suitable for this job, then I won't take into account the personal relationship between us and will let you roll back to the 'afterlife'. Then you will be embarrassed."

"I'm willing to take the test!"

Lincoln shrugged, he said:

"I am a medical graduate student. Maybe I can't kill people, but I think, s.d.o.l.d., we rarely encounter the need to kill people with our own hands, right?"

"Well, that's it. But from the appearance, many aliens are no different from humans."

Merlin said:

"They get hurt, they bleed, and killing them is no different from killing people."

"But from a physiological point of view, those are two species."

Lincoln replied:

"I also decomposed frogs in the lab. I felt a little bad at first, but then it got much better. So I think I'll probably get used to it soon."

"very good!"

Merlin nodded, picked up the seal, and stamped it on the personnel file, he said:

"This mentality is good. Take your resume and go to Agent Colson, and then prepare to receive half a month of heterogeneous knowledge and combat training. I look forward to you being able to integrate into my department, First-level Agent Lincoln Campbell."

"Yes! Chief Merlin."

Lincoln seemed to have entered the role quickly. He stood up, tidied up his clothes, picked up his bag, and planned to leave Merlin's office. However, when he reached the door, he suddenly remembered something, took out a folded envelope from his pocket, placed it on Merlin's table, and said to his boss:

"Sir, this is the information that Instructor Gordon asked me to bring you."

"All the information about that obelisk is on it. He asked me to remind you to destroy it after reading it. This thing is one of the biggest secrets of the Inhuman race and must not be circulated."

Merlin picked up the belief, and he pulled out three pages of the letter paper, and waved to Lincoln:

"Go and do your business."
