38. The last night in Oakland (Part 2)

Merlin is not the kind of person who purely does good deeds without seeking rewards.

But he hasn't lost his bottom line yet and has taken things from a teenager.

He wanted to refuse Eric's "reward", but the child didn't give him the time to refuse, so he ran out in a flash, and Merlin could only follow him.

Eric grew up in this neighborhood since he was a child. He knew the terrain very well. He took Merlin through several alleys and came to an almost abandoned parking lot. Eric parked next to a half-old black pickup truck, looked around and looked vigilantly, then reached out to touch the pickup truck under it, and took out a key.

He turned around and smiled at Merlin, then opened the door with the key, and took out a black bag from under the seat.

He sat in his seat, handed the black bag to Merlin, and looked at him hopefully.

"This is left by my father before he disappeared. He treasured these things and kept many of the same iron jars at home. But after the fire went out, I went home to look at them and the jars disappeared."

Eric said to Merlin:

"Now there is only one in the car left."

"It's hard for me to help you find your father and uncle, Eric."

Merlin didn't look at the bag, and he handed the bag back to the little boy Eric, and he said:

"I did hide on your floor the night of the explosion, and I heard strangers talking to your father. I heard them say, bringing your father back to Wakanda is your hometown."

Merlin looked at the little boy in front of him and said:

"You should know where that place is? Right?"

"I know!"

When Eric learned about his father's news, his face, which still had blood stasis, suddenly showed a joyful expression. What he feared most was that his father was dead, but now he saw hope from Merlin.

He took the pocket handed over by Merlin and said to Merlin:

"My father often tells me stories about Wakanda. I know that the place is in Africa, but my father said that Wakanda on the map is just a disguise and unrecognized person, and cannot find the real Wakanda."

"Then you should be fine."

Merlin leaned against the car and chatted with the somewhat precocious boy, he said:

"Aren't you a real Wakandan? Do you need me to buy a plane ticket and send you home to find your father?"

"Well, actually, I'm not a complete Wakanda."

Eric said to Merlin with some worries:

"My father is Wakanda, but my mom is not. My mom is from Auckland. She was involved in a street shootout a few years ago and left me and my dad. And my dad never took me back to Wakanda. He always said that when I grow up, I will take me back. So I have never been there."

"Oh, is that?"

Merlin sensed a slight ominous meaning from Eric's explanation.

He had seen the samurai of Wakanda with his own eyes, and he could be crazy to the extent of the king's orders.

This also means that Wakanda may have developed technology, but the place should still be dominated by the ancient feudal system.

As we all know, a major feature of any stable feudal system is the advocacy of bloodline.

Although Eric's father Njob was the prince of Wakanda, Eric's mother was not a Wakanda. In the eyes of some idiots on lineage, perhaps this means that the child's bloodline is not pure.

This is also very likely, because Eric's father never took him home.

Well, the child's situation is unexpectedly similar to that of little Arthur. Moreover, the Wakanda warriors could not have known that Njob had a son, but they took Njob away but did not take Eric away, which indirectly shows that Merlin's guess is probably correct.

It seems that Wakanda, a mysterious country with amazing technology and the ability to produce precious vibrator weapons, is also a closed country.

But Merlin didn't point out this.

At first, the child may not understand.

Secondly, this is not his business after all, it is someone else's family matter, and he shouldn't interfere casually.

Merlin looked at the sky, and he lowered his head to Eric sitting in the car and said:

"Keep the 'treasure' your father left to you. Maybe you should listen to your father and wait until you grow up before searching for Wakanda. Oh, by the way, are those people just now really your father's friends?"

"no!"

Eric said with disgust:

"My father never makes friends with the gangsters in this neighborhood. Those people just come to blackmail me. My father and uncle are missing, and I can't find anyone else to help me."

"Well, do you have a place to live now?"

Merlin looked up and down at Eric. The child must have not taken a shower for several days. When facing Merlin's inquiry, Eric reached out to pat the half-old car, and he said:

"I've been living here these days. My father left some money in the car, which is enough for me to eat."

"Do you have no other relatives?"

Merlin frowned, and when faced with his inquiry, Eric shook his head:

"My father is from Wakanda and he has no relatives locally. My mom has a younger brother, but she was imprisoned for robbery a few years ago. They asked me to go to an orphanage, and I don't want to go."

Speaking of this, Eric raised his head and said stubbornly:

"My father is not dead again, he just went home. I am not an orphan!"

A few seconds later, the little boy raised his head again, he looked at Meilin, with a hint of expectation in his eyes, and he said to Meilin:

"Boss, why not follow you, you're so good at fighting. You must be very good! Children in this neighborhood hope to find a good boss when they grow up, make more money, and enjoy life."

"What boss is not boss!"

Merlin doesn't like the occasional gang temperament that Eric reveals. It seems that the child has been staying in this poor neighborhood with poor security for a long time and has been affected by the bad thinking in other people's minds.

He frowned and said to Eric:

"Children should go to school! Then after graduation, they find a decent job and become a decent person. I am not a boss either. I am a well, I am a government employee, do you understand? Public servant! A decent person."

"But no one here likes public officials."

Eric Jr. retorted:

"Those policemen only bully ordinary people, and I also saw them drinking with several local bosses."

"That's them, not me!"

Merlin stretched out his finger and knocked Eric hard on the head. He thought for a while and then said to Eric:

"You saved my life. I can't just throw you in this damn hell. In this way, pack up your things, come with me, I will take you to New York, and find you a host family there. You can go to school there, and when you grow up, I will send you to Wakanda and your father, how about it?"

"Don't hit me in the head."

Eric hugged his head and avoided Merlin's finger tapping. He curled up in the chair and said to Merlin:

"What if my father comes back and can't find me? I don't want to leave here, even if it's a bit dilapidated and dangerous, but it's always my home."

"Then leave a message to the children you are familiar with. If your father comes back, he will naturally follow the information to find you. Didn't you say your father is very smart?"

"Well, that's fine."

Eric thought about it for a few minutes, then nodded.

He jumped out of the car and handed the car keys to Merlin, he said:

"Then let's go, I'll take you to find some of my best friends. Oh, by the way, boss, you can take this thing."

After Merlin sat in the driver's seat of the pickup, Eric lifted the bag next to the seat again. He lay behind the driver's seat, took out the things in the bag like a display toy, and said to Merlin:

"Look! It's beautiful and shines in the dark."

"Um?"

Merlin glanced back and saw a weird metal jar at Eric's feet.

The center of the jar is a cylinder made of glass, and in the jar that is dozens of centimeters high, there are some things that look like liquids or semi-solidified. In the darkness, there are fluorescent lights, and the blue light looks very beautiful.

"What is this thing?"

Merlin stretched out his hand and held the thing in his hand. The hand was quite heavy, about 2 kilograms.

He had never seen such a thing before, and only felt that it was full of high-tech. He leaned in the driver's seat, extended the sense of darkness, trying to get close to the weird can in his hand, but something strange happened.

It was like something was blocking Merlin's observation, and his perception could not penetrate the jar, as if he had encountered an obstacle.

Merlin's eyes narrowed suddenly, and he guessed what this thing was.

That night, Merlin overheard the conversation between the King of Panthers in Wakanda and Njob. The Panther said that their country was attacked and someone robbed 0.25 tons of original vibrator. He also said that Njob and the attackers colluded with each other.

Merlin also sensed the Wakanda Female in armor. He knew that the extremely hard metal of vibrator could resist dark perception.

In other words, the things in his hand were probably one of the vibrators that Njob and others snatched from Wakanda.

The female mercenary Lingdie once told him that the price of vibrator on the black market is high, and that a powerful mercenary like her can secretly take away the female warrior Okna's vibrator weapon regardless of her shame, which shows how precious this thing is.

Merlin felt as if he was holding a real vault in his hand.

“Put it away!”

Merlin handed Eric the liquid vibrate, and he told:

"Don't tell anyone else you have this thing"

"It's very precious, maybe in the future, when you grow up, you will rely on it to return to Wakanda."

"If it's really so precious, then you can keep it for me, boss."

Eric smiled. It was hard for a child as old as he could understand the value of vibrator. The scenes and things he saw in the block since he was a child had learned to rely on the strong, and Merlin was a strong man in his eyes.

Merlin glared at him and said:

"Don't call me boss, call me Merlin. And, this is your thing. If you want to rely on it to return to your hometown, you should keep it well. Those who know about it have left and no one will pay attention to you anymore. As long as you don't talk nonsense, there will be no danger."

"Okay, Merlin."

Eric shrugged. He knew about his father and found a new backer, which made him feel happy. He leaned against the seat behind, humming a song while pulling out a game console from under the seat, and started playing with it.

"Wait here, I'll go buy something."

When passing by a convenience store, Merlin stopped the car and said to Eric behind him. Then he opened the car door and walked into the convenience store. He bought some things and said to the boss at the checkout:

"I'll use the phone, okay?"

"Then give me an extra 2 yuan!"

The boss is an old lady wearing glasses and has a fierce temper.

Merlin paid the money, walked aside, picked up the phone, he glanced out, spread the dark senses, and then dialed a number.

After a few rings, the phone was connected and a gentle sound rang in the microphone:

"Hello, this is Wayne Manor, I am Alfred, the housekeeper of the Wayne family."

"Hello, Ah Fu."

Merlin whispered:

"Thank you for your help, I've survived."

The sound on the other side of the microphone stopped, and a few seconds later, Old Afu's voice sounded again:

"You are Merlin, right? I'm glad to hear that you're safe. If you're really a friend of the Master, then that's what I should do. Then, Merlin, can you tell me now, where did the Master go? Many people are worried about him."

"Sorry, I can't."

Merlin said:

"I promised Bruce not to reveal his whereabouts. But I can tell you that he is safe now, and he is in a new place, planning to start his own adventure, he will go back to Gotham, he told me that when he finds what he wants, he will return to his hometown. So, Ah Fu, be patient."

"Oh, the young master is always so stubborn."

Old Afu from the other side of the microphone sighed, and the butler said in a sad voice:

"Since he was 9 years old, the master and his wife died of serious illness, he has been."

"Come on, Ah Fu."

Merlin laughed and said:

"Don't test me, Bruce told me when he was a child. He was 8 years old. In Crime Lane, his parents were killed by a robber named Zili. The play that day was "Zorro". When things happened, you were in the parking lot not far from them, but you couldn't save the tragedy."

"Okay, it seems that you are indeed the young master's friend. If you were not a real friend, he wouldn't have told you these things."

Old Afu was really relieved, and he said to Meilin with a pleasant tone:

"Anyway, thank you for the news, I can finally have a good night's sleep tonight."

"In addition, if you need it, you can call this and give me an address. I'll send you a few items. Don't always use the public telephone on the street to be easily found out. I don't want to see any day saying bad things about the Wayne family in the news."

Merlin smiled and said:

"I will have to settle down for a few days, and I will contact you then. Also, thank you again, Ah Fu."

"If you really want to thank me, tell me where the young master went."

Old Afu complained:

"He should stay at home, like other young people, find those girls to spend time and enjoy themselves, and be better off leaving blood for the Wayne family. Instead of being frozen and hungry somewhere in the world, he might be in danger."

"Don't worry, Afu, Bruce is very strong."

Merlin looked at the night outside the window and said softly:
