19. Take the wind and wash the dust

Eric Jr. and May and Ben's first meeting was perfect.
Merlin's cousin and brother-in-law have no plans to have a child for the time being, but they are both kind people. After hearing that Eric's father disappeared, they all sympathized with the child's experience.
The emotional Mei also said that when Merlin was on a business trip, she was willing to take care of the child, and even adopted Eric instead of Merlin.
But neither Merlin nor Eric could agree to Mei's request.
The reason is very simple.
They are people with secrets, and their secrets will hurt the innocent people around them. So they can only move forward in a lonely way.
However, Merlin agreed to her cousin that she would let Eric come to visit Met often, or stay there occasionally for a while, and finally evade her kind and gentle cousin.
After saying goodbye to his loving cousin and brother-in-law, Merlin bought the latest game console for Eric Little as promised, then sent him back to the orphanage, and met Father Paul again, asking the priest to help take care of Eric Little Little.
For this purpose, Merlin also donated a sum of money to St. Matthew's Church and St. Agnes Monastery.
It’s embarrassing to bother people. After all, Father Paul is a priest, not a nanny who specializes in taking care of his children.
Merlin stayed in New York for another day. After Fury completed all the secondment procedures for him, at night, Merlin took a direct international flight to London. What was waiting for him would be a secondment career that lasted for several months or even more than a year.
Sitting on the plane, Merlin looked at the smaller and smaller New York below. Things have happened recently. When she was about to leave the city, Merlin felt a burst of fatigue.
He ordered a 5-hour and 30-minute alarm clock, then drank a glass of water, leaned against the chair, and fell asleep.
At the same time Merlin left New York, outside a certain coffee shop in Brooklyn, John Constantine, who looked unhappy, was putting his hands in his trench coat pocket. He looked at the cafe in front of him, and a sense of renunciation shining in his eyes.
Just four hours ago, a letter was sent to the apartment he currently rented. The letter was sternly worded, and it collected five local girls accused Constantine of defiling their confessions. The letter was sent with it, as well as many photos of the incident and Constantine's resume of living in the UK.
Obviously, this is a threat. Someone is "reminding" him in this way.
At the end of the letter, there was the address of the cafe in front of me, and there was an invitation.
"Okay, then let me see which idiot dares to threaten Lord Constantine!"
The down-and-out detective cursed fiercely. He tidied up his clothes, pushed open the door, and walked into the cafe. He soon discovered that there was a mysterious guy sitting at the table in the corner.
The guy blocked his face with the spread newspaper, looking like he was reading today's news. At the guy's feet, there was a black handbag.
"Bang"
Constantine walked up to the guy angrily, slapped the table, and he whispered:
"Are you pretending to be a ghost?"
"Sit down, Mr. Constantine."
Nick Fury put down the newspaper in his hand, and he glanced at the angry Constantine. He raised his legs, stretched out his hand, and made a "please" position, he said:
"Forget that letter, that's just a little 'joke'."
Fury looked at the unruly and poor detective in front of him, and he said:
"I'm having a headache about something recently, and a friend of mine recommended you to me, and he told me that you are the one among all the scammers in New York who have some ability. So I'm thinking, maybe, you can help me solve the problems I'm having."
"It is necessary to ask for help from sincerity, Mr. Black."
Constantine leaned against the chair and lit a cigarette casually, regardless of the sign that smoking is prohibited in the cafe. He looked at Fury and said sarcastically:
"But I didn't see your sincerity, so I don't plan to help you. I'm here to tell you, sir, your gadgets that make waves want to threaten me? You dream!"
The guy raised his middle finger to Fury, and he said:
"By the way, let your friend who pretends to be a ghost go to hell too!"
Fury looked at Constantine and was not angry because of Constantine's humiliation. On the contrary, Fury calmly listened to the series of swear words that the guy in front of him, and he waited patiently.
Until several minutes later, Fury's cell phone vibrated. He made a pause gesture to Constantine, who was swearing, and then picked up the cell phone and put it in his ear.
After more than ten seconds, Fury hung up the communication.
He crossed his fingers and held his chin. He looked at Constantine, and a glimmer of winning was thundering in his sharp eyes. He said:
"Mr. Constantine, two NYPD officers have just found a large number of x-foods in your apartment, as well as some forged banknotes, and some stolen goods related to theft case. Meanwhile, in an illegal detective office where you do not have a license or any professional certificate, my subordinates have found something of the same bad nature."
"So I regret to announce, sir, you have been arrested."
Fury threw a handcuff on the table, his hands closed and said to Constantine, who was full of shock:
"According to federal law, you have to spend at least seven years in prison. In addition, you have insulted and threatened public officials just now, as well as in the police station, and four women who can prove that you have participated in theft and fraud activities are recording their confessions."
Fury stopped, he glanced at Constantine, whose face was now very bad.
Fury strengthened his tone and continued:
"Your sentence will likely be extended again and will not be released on bail. Now, has this cruel and cold reality calmed you down?"
"Would you like to talk to me?"
"Who is your tm?"
Constantine stared at Fury tightly. The guy in front of him looked very energetic and very skillful. He was hesitating whether to throw out a powerful forgetting spell and turn the bastard in front of him into an idiot.
But he didn't do that in the end.
John Constantine was a keen man. After several minutes, Constantine calmed down. He looked at Fury and said:
"What the hell do you want me to do for you?"
"I want a list."
Fury took a sip of coffee and said to Constantine:
"A list of all supernatural creatures in New York City. I know you can find them, and I know you are a cheerful person who can collect money and do things without any professional ethics, so"
"Bang"
The box at Fury was placed on the table, he opened it, took out a stack of dollars from it, and handed it to Constantine, he said:
"This is the first phase of activity funding. In 2 months, all information about supernatural creatures in Manhattan will be sent to me. Then there is the second phase, and I will conduct an evaluation based on your results. If you do it well enough."
Fury turned the box around, filled with stacks of tempting banknotes.
This made the very down-and-out detective unable to help swallowing.
He thought for a few seconds, then quickly put the money in his hand in his pocket. He whistled and said to Fury in front of him with a happy look:
"So it's business. You said it earlier, sir, I'm most willing to serve someone like you who is generous. 2 months, right? No problem."
After saying that, Constantine was about to leave, but was stopped by Fury.
Fury handed him something, it was a black watch, Fury said calmly:
"Take it and we can see your place. Once you suddenly disappear, all your evidence of guilt will be sent to the police station. Mr. John, I know, as a wizard, you have many ways to avoid us. But please believe that once you dare to release my pigeon, I can guarantee that every city in North America will be covered with your wanted orders."
Fury stood up, put his hat on his head, and lifted his suitcase. He said to Constantine, who was stunned:
"You can break the contract at will, you can run away at will."
"But if you can live a free and easy life in North America in the future, even if I lose!"
He reached out and helped Constantine tamper the collar of her wrinkled windbreaker. He patted Constantine on the shoulder, and he said:
"By the way, my friend Merlin, please ask me to say hello to you."
"Go back and have some rest, John, take less medicine and start working tomorrow."
"Oh my, Brother Merlin, we're meeting again."
At London Heathrow Airport, the person who came to greet Merlin was Agent John Gatler who fought side by side several days ago.
He helped Meilin carry his luggage and took him out of the airport.
The weather in London was as bad as the rumors were. On the day Merlin arrived, the sky was gloomy, as if it was about to rain.
"I ordered a restaurant to welcome you, Merlin."
Gatler was driving while smoking a cigar. The old cowboy-like agent said to Merlin, who was sitting in the passenger seat:
"Is Fury OK in New York? Is Kohler causing trouble for you?"
“Of course there is.”
Merlin said helplessly:
"I heard that Kohler broke into Fury's office and threatened to send Fury to prison, but Fury drove him out with a gun. This incident had spread in the bureau. Kohler was greatly embarrassed, but he could not punish Fury. I heard Fury say that Chief Pierce was full of injuries and was storming in the Senate, and he almost said who planned the coup without a name."
"Hey, I knew they would choose this method."
Garrett shook his head and said with a relaxed look on his face:
"Pearce is very smart. He put this on the table clearly, but gave the people who wanted to kill him. They will soon reach a new consensus. Kohler may not be replaced immediately, but it is undoubtedly impossible for him to cover up the situation in the Strategic Danger Intervention and Intelligence Logistics Department."
"You mean, this isn't going to end soon?"
Merlin asked with a frown:
"I thought we had won."
"It's still early, Merlin."
Gatler spit out a smoke ring, looking old-fashioned and said to Merlin:
"This kind of political game cannot be ended so easily. We just won a game back. It's still early to end. We must find another opportunity, an opportunity to drive Kohler and all his subordinates away at once! And this matter must be done openly and no one can find any problem."
Gatler breathed a sigh of relief and said to Merlin:
"Okay, don't think about those things. I'll take you to the hotel first, put your luggage, and then we have a meal."
"In a few days, I will take you to Paris. The European branch base of the Strategic Danger Intervention and Intelligence Logistics Department is in that city, and the agents there are all standing on Fury's side, all of us."
Gatler friendly patted Merlin on the shoulder, and he said:
"Young man, when you come here, it's like you're actually going home."
Agent Gatler's enthusiasm made Merlin a little flattered. After entering central London, Merlin watched the scenery on the streets that were different from New York, while saying to Gatler:
"John, how long have you been in London?"
“It’s been a long time.”
Gatler replied:
"I have been in the European division since I joined the Strategic Science Corps. We have a base in London, so I spend at least 3 months a year almost every year. I'm honestly not very suitable for living in this city."
"So have you heard of some legends in this city?"
Merlin glanced at Gatler and he pretended to ask casually:
"For example, urban weird stories, magic, wizards, etc., I personally like this kind of story."
“Yes, a lot.”
Gatler turned the steering wheel disapproved and said to Merlin:
"The city of London is a legend. There are so many urban weird stories here. There are more rumors about magic, such as Edward, the scissor hand, and so on. If you really want to hear it, then when you are having a meal, I will pick a few interesting things to tell you."
"OK."
Merlin breathed a sigh of relief and began to look forward to the arrival of this dinner.
"Speaking of it, Merlin, do you know?"
Gatler suddenly spoke again:
"Sir Pierce values you very much."
"Um?"
Merlin looked at Gatler and shook his head:
"I don't know that the time I went to Panama was the first time I met with Chief Pierce."
"Well, he really values you."
Gatler smiled, and he looked at the street in front of him and said softly:
"He also called me specifically to treat you well and to train you well. He said, you are the future star of the organization."
"Oh, that's a great honor."
Merlin smiled, and Gatler laughed, and he echoed:
"Indeed, you should feel honor comes from the attention of big people, and it will always make people feel honored. You may not realize it now, but Merlin, you will know how important Pierce's value to you is to your future development."
"Okay, the hotel is here!"
