45. About the future

The time has reached 10 o'clock in the morning, and the Future Technology and Artificial Intelligence Development Seminar officially began.
The conference hall that can accommodate 1,000 people is full of seats. The young people who follow the mentors or parents to see the world are not worthy of seats. They can only squeeze in the back of the conference hall or in the aisle with those reporters.
As for those businessmen sitting on chairs, they paid for tickets. Well, the tickets are expensive, but they are worth it. A grand event like this can not only gain a good reputation, but also effectively expand its network of contacts. It is simply a killing two birds with one stone.
The result of selling tickets was that SHIELD, who was hosting the meeting behind the scenes, not only did not lose money, but also had some balances, which made Merlin a little regretful. Maybe he should have sold a few more at the time, but then thinking about it, this style was very low.
In short, after the President's brief and powerful speech, Tony Stark, the host of the meeting and the gold medal atmosphere, made a grand appearance in the audience.
"Well, I actually refused when I learned that the Future Technology Foundation invited me to be the host."
Tony stood on the oval podium and said to the people below in a talk show tone:
"Because you can't knock on my door and tell me, hi man, we've decided, and you'll be the party host for the smartest guys in the world. I mean, you have to give me some time to consider."
These words made a laugh sound from the audience and the atmosphere became lively.
Merlin, who was standing at the door of the conference hall, also smiled. Well, this guy Tony Stark has a good idea.
"Well, I admit, when I stood here, all the depression in my heart disappeared. I admit, I might have underestimated this meeting."
Tony spread his arms, his voice raised a few degrees:
"Although I regret to see that most of the people who come from afar are not as smart as me, I have to admit that when the light of wisdom of the world gathers together, this scene is really amazing."
"Especially there are really people who are smarter than me, which surprised me. Yes, you, Mr. Reed, come and stand up and let everyone take a good look at you."
Tony reached out and pointed at Reed Richards sitting in the first row. The sudden situation made Mr. Reed confused, but he stood up at Tony's invitation, turned around, and waved to the person behind him shyly.
Then there was another wave of applause, and the whistle sound, Xiao Brigitta's whistle.
"We are sitting here with the world's number one smart guy, the second smart guy, the third, fourth, fifth, uh, sixth seems to be absent, but it doesn't matter, we have the seventh middle school student, uh, Adimas, everyone knows I'm talking about you, but you don't need to stand up, I didn't let you stand up."
"Hahaha"
Under Tony's deliberate adjustment, another kind-hearted laughter broke out on the scene, which made the young man dressed in middle school blush and sat back on the chair awkwardly.
"Okay, okay, give young people some time to recover. Everyone is young and everyone can understand."
Tony pretended to reach out and pressed down. After the laughter dropped, he reached out to tidy up his clothes and said loudly:
"Anyway, smart people, cheer. Today is our day. Today, we will move into the future one step ahead of the whole world. Today, we will plan the future with our extraordinary thinking! Today."
"We will push the door to the future together!"
Accompanied by Tony's voice and his raised hands, an extremely realistic holographic projection system provided by S.H.E.L.D.
A vivid character appeared on the stage behind Tony, from Pythagoras, Euclid, Archimedes in the classical era to Zhang Heng, Leonardo da Vinci, then to Marie Curie, Einstein, Boer, Schrödinger, then to Feynman, Howard Stark, Nathaniel Richards, etc.
From ancient times to the present, hundreds of scientists appeared behind Tony, and more characters were added, just like a history of scientific development that traveled through the modern past and the future. In the eyes of everyone, in this gorgeous projection, the images of all the scientists attending the meeting were also added. A door, a door representing the future was pushed open by everyone.
"Wow"
The brilliant light burst out from the projection of that door, and in the amazement of people, those lights flew, forming the symbol of the Future Science Foundation before their eyes.
A sea of stars shining.
"Wow, this is really beautiful."
Amid the applause and cheers like thunder, Louise Liann, standing in the best position in the corner, holding the camera in his hand, couldn't help but say to Clark, who used his arms to help her build a free area to move:
"This will definitely be the front page news tomorrow, and it would be even better if we could interview a few attendees exclusively."
Clark stood there, and the reporters around him were blocked by him. He was like a pillar, protecting Lianen, and he said to Lianen:
"The early morning meeting ends at 12 o'clock, the afternoon meeting ends at 4 o'clock, and after 4 o'clock is free time, I'll think of a way. Maybe we can interview Stark, or Reed, it depends on luck."
"Actually, I want to interview that guy more!"
While taking photos, Liann nodded to Clark. Clark followed Liann's gaze and found that his colleague was talking about Merlin, who was standing at the entrance of the conference hall, very low-key.
Liann said to Clark:
"That guy has the smell of big news. I just saw him chatting with Mr. Luther and Tony. They seemed to be very familiar with him, but he didn't have a seat, which means he was not a scientist, he didn't have that kind of businessman or politician. He was like a soldier. Well, I became more and more curious about him."
"Uh, I advise you to give up this dangerous idea, Lianen."
Clark dissuaded:
"That guy doesn't look like a good guy at first glance. Maybe he works for the government. You can't ask anything at all, and you might even put yourself in. I mean, you know, the government forces are involved behind this meeting."
"Emm, you're right."
Miss Lianen weighed the pros and cons, but finally gave up the idea, which made Clark breathe a sigh of relief. He didn't think Merlin was a person who could be interviewed.
His identity is too sensitive.
After the discussion meeting officially started, Merlin lost interest in continuing to observe.
Because he was not interested in what the scientists said, and more of it was not understandable, but the people in the audience were fascinated by listening, which made Meilin not able to leave the scene on his own initiative.
In short, let the scientists handle scientific matters.
This meeting lasts for three days, and many people will come on stage to speak to explain their views and opinions on the prospects of artificial intelligence. Most of the time, this discussion is limited to data and conjectures. For example, Lex Luther, a scientist and successful businessman, uses very complete data, reasonable evidence, and conjectures to illustrate that the promotion of artificial intelligence will have a qualitative impact on the development of human society.
His elegant conversation, rigorous attitude and handsome appearance won him a lot of applause.
Mr. Reed expressed his views using a set of data models he summarized. Although most people actually cannot understand the data model, this does not prevent them from applauding Reed's wisdom.
But there are non-mainstream guys.
On the afternoon of the second day of the meeting, Old Tobion came on stage as a representative of the engineer. The guy did not have any preparation materials, and he just said one sentence over and over again.
"Artificial intelligence is not good, artificial intelligence is bad, I don't like it, but I won't stop you from developing it, but you must be wary of the threat it brings."
Well, probably to express his point of view, the old man also used many vulgar words, which made the audience laugh continuously. He even had linguistic and even physical conflicts with the advocates of artificial intelligence, forcing Tony to keep shouting "orderrrrrrr!!!" to maintain order.
In short, Old Tobion's performance was considered a failure, but the old man's explanation of peace also gave him extra points. After his speech, he also gave him warm applause.
Well, if this guy who has been engaged in illegal arms dealings for the past decade can seize this opportunity, maybe he can completely cleanse himself.
The debate in favor and against the two factions peaked on the morning of the third day.
Lex Luthor, the representative of the pros and the representative of the opposition, disguised as Hank McCoy, the representative of the opposition, argued fiercely. The two had their own supporters, and both sides kept citing scriptures and posting their own data and guesses, making the entire venue look like a fight between gods.
It was very pleasant to let the neutral faction watch the show. Reed, a smart man, did not express his opinion, but judging from his speech, he was a neutral faction.
There are only a few hours left before the meeting ends, and it is definitely impossible to reach a consensus.
But that's what Merlin and Fury want to see.
They actually don't care which of the constituents or the opposition has the upper hand. This result has no meaning. What they want to see is the topic of artificial intelligence that triggers discussions around the world, making it a craze and a trend of thought.
With the high exposure of the media, this wave of national discussion has obviously appeared. Various papers on artificial intelligence have emerged everywhere, and various speculative businessmen have also prepared money and are ready to seize this new trend.
Once capital is invested and business starts to pay attention, the speed of this trend of thought will inevitably cover the entire world very quickly.
That's it!
The first step in preventing the intelligence crisis is over here.
"Any technological progress that concerns civilization will be first regarded as a heresy at the moment of its birth, then a great change, and finally restored to something sparse and ordinary in life."
At the closing ceremony, Merlin stood in the backstage room, watching the first discussion meeting of the Future Technology Foundation ended with Tony's enthusiastic summary, while saying to Agent Hill beside him:
"This is the greatness of time. Throughout history, any progress at the level of civilization cannot escape this cycle. This is a magical cycle. If you don't go through this cycle, it cannot be considered a real progress."
"Just like smart machines, when they are announced in the next few years, there will definitely be a group of people who resist them, but as long as we control that rhythm and wait for time to slowly move forward, one day, people will get used to smart machines in their lives. A crisis that may ruin civilization will be eliminated."
"Director, IMHO."
Hill changed back to her uniform when she worked, and she said to Merlin:
"Although I know this is a good thing, I always feel like we are manipulating public opinion like the villains behind the scenes."
"Are you an agent on the first day? Hill."
Merlin looked back at his colleague and he chuckled and said:
“Isn’t this our job?”
After saying that, before Hill could answer, he reached out and patted Hill on the shoulder, and he said:
"This is yours. Fury and I have confidence in you, but there is no pressure. We believe you can do it well."
"Oh, and there."
Merlin took out an agent's ID from his pocket and put it in Hill's hand. He said softly with emotion:
"From today, you are also a Level 8 agent. The little girl who was scared by me back then was finally able to stand alone. This is really surprising. To be honest, I didn't think you would become an excellent agent back then, but it turned out that I was wrong."
"I can't blame me for what happened back then."
Hill whispered:
"I was just a newcomer back then. When I saw you knocking down more than 20 agents alone, I would definitely be scared, huh?"
Hill raised his head and saw Merlin no longer visible.
The director is very busy, he has too many things to deal with.
At 6 pm that day, outside the top room of the same hotel, Tony Stark reached out and knocked on the closed door. After a moment, the door was opened. Merlin gestured to him and signaled him to come in.
Tony walked into the room and found that there were already several people inside.
He also knows them all.
Standing by the window with his back to him, Lex Luthor, the chairman of the Lex Group, was lying on the bed and flipping through a book. Reed Richards, the smartest man in the world, bored playing with his cell phone, Princess Su Rui, who had delivered excellent speeches before, and a young black man in a strange robe with his hands folded and sitting at the table.
Finally, Bruce Wayne, who made Tony feel a little upset, sat expressionlessly at the small bar in the room, and a serious guy with a black eye mask, black sweater, military trousers, and combat boots, who couldn't like it.
Nick Fury, Director of SHIELD.
"Wow, is this a secret meeting?"
Tony opened a chair in an exaggerated manner and sat at the table, he said:
"It's really strange that the combination of scientists, smart people, His Highness, and Secret Agents."
"No, not only His Highness the Princess, but also His Highness the Prince."
Merlin said:
"His Excellency Techara came on behalf of Wakanda. Wakanda has a great say in the intellectual equipment crisis. After all, the power that houses the most intelligent equipment in the world is Wakanda. This is not even comparable to governments of all countries."
“Wakanda respects all free will, whether it comes from flesh and blood, or mechanical.”
Techara looked back at Merlin and Fury, and he said:
"Of course, we also respect the opinions of the international community. I came here to resolve conflicts and conflicts between each other. I heard that you have come up with a reasonable plan?"
"Yes."
Fury took out a few documents from his suitcase and handed them over to everyone in the room, he said:
"A complete industrial chain and future planning for smart machinery, gentlemen, we have enough time to discuss it."
Chapter completed!
