53. Uprooted (Part 1)

"Yo, I thought the busy Director Merlin had forgotten us old friends."
In the ordnance warehouse of the Ghost Base, with a weird black helmet with a tactical eyepiece like a spider compound eye, Natasha Romanov, who was leaning on a black sniper rifle, looked at Merlin who walked out of the shadow. She whistled a little frivolously and said to Agent Patton who was combining tactical bows beside her:
"How long has it been since he acted with us? 2 years? 3 years? or more?"
"He is the director now."
Agent Patton answered seriously:
"Which director has ever seen someone charge? I heard that Chief Meilin has become accustomed to the days of sitting in the office, and maybe he has raised fat."
"Wow, you two, really."
Merlin walked to his two old friends, he glanced at Natasha, then at Patton, and he said:
"I heard that you two have now been upgraded to SHIELD's chief and second-level aircraft warfare masters. You are in control of the Smash and Red Spider, right? A few days ago, a group of rebel bases in the Middle East were attacked and they were declared finished in less than 20 minutes. Who did you do it?"
"This is a secret, Director Merlin."
Natasha plucked her long hair, she stretched out her hand, put it beside her mouth, and made a silence to stop the sound, she said:
"I can't tell you if there is no permission."
"All right."
Merlin didn't ask any further. Although he was the deputy director, he also had his own quota. He could not control the field department where Natasha and Patton were.
"Speaking of this, I've always forgotten something before."
When Merlin saw the black tactical bow in Patton's hand, he suddenly remembered something.
He gestured to Patton and Natasha, signaling them to wait a moment, then quickly walked out of the ordnance warehouse. A few minutes later, Merlin returned to his friend with a box.
"Clint, I still remember that in 1994, I ruined your good knife."
Merlin handed the box in his hand to Patton, and he said:
"So, this thing belongs to you."
He looked at Natasha next to him again, and shrugged:
"As for you, Natasha, I don't have any gifts for you."
"Small, stingy man."
Agent Natasha curled her lips, but she was soon attracted by Agent Patton's gift.
After Patton opened the box, he found that there was a golden war bow inside, which should have been made of some kind of metal. There were complex and complicated patterns on the bow, and a charming woman's face was shaped at the handle, making the bow look very evil.
"Ancient bows"
Patton looked at the gift Merlin gave him with some amusement. He raised his head and said to Merlin:
"I can't use this kind of thing too heavy, and the range is not as good as a tactical bow. I appreciate your kindness, but I really can't carry this 'artwork' to the battlefield."
"No, no, no."
Merlin waved his hand mysteriously, and he pulled Natasha back a few steps and said to Patton:
"Clint, I'm a wizard. You have to believe that the gifts of wizards will not be as simple as it seems on the surface. As for whether it is in line with each other, you will know if it is used. Oh, by the way, friendly reminder, it has been sealed for 2,000 years, so it has a bad temper. You have to be careful when using it."
“2000?”
Patton held the golden, gorgeous and overly over-the-top ancient bow and put it in his hand and stumbled it. Well, the balance is quite perfect.
While he pulled out an arrow from the sac behind him and placed it on the bowstring, he looked back at Merlin and said:
"Is this so exaggerated? This is considered a cultural relic, right?"
"Swish"
The golden battle bow was pulled away the next moment, and Agent Patton's expression immediately changed.
The moment he pulled the bowstring, he finally knew what Merlin meant that the bow had a bad temper. The bowstring seemed to have his own life. While preventing Patton from pulling it apart, he even had auditory hallucinations while holding the battle bow in his hand.
It was like a vicious woman screaming in his ear, making the eardrum rise
"Swish"
A ray of green light shot out. In Natasha's surprised gaze, Patton's arrow missed a rare missed. The arrow hit the ammunition box in the ordnance warehouse. While the arrow cracked, the ammunition box was surrounded by a layer of gray rock at a speed visible to the naked eye.
"What's going on with that voice?"
Patton looked at the golden battle bow in his hand, and he looked back at Merlin, who spread his hands and said:
"This thing is called the snake-haired Banshee War Bow, and some people call it the petrified bow. It is a mythical thing. The bow in your hand is sealed with the soul of a snake-haired Banshee, the legendary creature whose head was cut off by Perseus."
"Every arrow shot will be given petrified magic, but it is difficult to control, unruly, you understand what I mean? Clint, if you want to shoot a real magic arrow, you should get the recognition of that evil soul first. I heard that after you have completely controlled it, you can even shoot the soul arrow, and the soul in the battle bow will fight for you, of course, this is just a legend."
Meilin pursed her lips and said:
"Maybe in the future, you can shoot arrows wrapped in monster power. It's not awesome or not, but it must be cool."
"Well, it's really amazing."
Natasha reached out and put her hand on Merlin's shoulder, and she said to Merlin:
"Is there really no gift from me? Director, I want such a gift, too."
She shook her body back and forth like a little girl, and then said to Merlin:
"Give me one too."
"Uh, next time, let's talk about it next time"
Merlin couldn't stand Natasha's attitude when she deliberately acted cute. A perfect woman pressed on him also made him feel uncomfortable. He quietly pulled back and took a step back. On the one hand, he had promised Elsa not to mess with her anymore. What's worse, he was no match for Elsa at all now.
"The other team members are here, be serious."
Merlin said to Natasha, the fairy-like black widow changed back to the image of the cold and powerful female star in almost a second. She and Patton stood behind Merlin, one left and one right. In front of them, several fully armed guys were walking into the warehouse under the leadership of senior agent commander McGrey.
"Swish"
McCree stopped in front of Merlin, put his fingers together and placed them on his forehead, and gave Merlin a very American soldier-style military salute to Merlin, he said:
"Sir, the 'Watch' team has been assembled, please give an order!"
"Um."
Merlin nodded to McCray. He looked behind McCray, a soldier with short white hair, wearing a black combat uniform, carrying a pulse gun, a red tactical eyepiece, and carrying two swords. He is the best performing agent who has been carrying the "dressing" plan so far. His name is Jack Morrison, codenamed 76.
Another guy standing next to Morrison was dressing up strangely.
He wore a black suit of armor similar to leather armor, a white skull mask, a long black cape, and a Winston-designed jet boots on his legs, and bullet-filled chains on his chest, waist and legs, and two black "Hellfire" shotguns around his waist.
The strangest thing is that when this guy walked in the shadow, there was always a faint black fog floating around his body.
It looks very strange.
Through the white skeleton mask, Merlin could feel a pair of alert eyes staring at him. There was a hint of curiosity and a hint of eagerness to try. He had a breath of unsheathed sword on his body, as if he could not wait to get into the fight.
Well, this "God of Death" is very aggressive.
Following McCree, there is also the data information expert of the Thunder Special Attack Team, Miss Shadow, who is now in a state of "recruitment".
After the Thunder Special Attack Team took several missions together, the Black Shadow's sentence was only a few years left. George also planned to place this talented young hacker in the data laboratory of the Ghost Base.
Perhaps because she knew that her life as a prisoner was about to end, the hacker lady was in a state of solidity. She was carrying a computer bag, a pulse pistol inserted between her waist, wearing cool sunglasses on her face, chewing gum in her mouth, and her hair dyed in her dazzling purple floated around behind her head.
"Sir, when I came, the madman Deadpool asked me to ask you when will he give him a task?"
The black shadow said to Merlin:
"He said he couldn't wait to leave the prison and enjoy his new life."
"Wade"
Merlin rubbed her chin and said:
"Don't worry about him, he's busy soon, and after he's finished his sentence, his sentence is almost over. Speaking of which, Dr. Moira, why did you come with him? And what's going on with your armor? If I remember correctly, this should be the Valkyrie armor that Winston is still developing, right?"
Merlin looked at the last man.
Dr. Moira Oderlan.
She shouldn't have appeared here, but now, the cold-faced doctor was wearing the "Valkyrie" armor that Merlin had seen once, and the mechanical floating wings scattered outwards were floating behind her. She was also holding the metal cane that could launch nanorobots to treat the injured. There was a head-ring information collector connected in parallel to the armor on her head.
This set of equipment made her look like a mechanical version of an angel, but with her indifferent expression that always treats people as test subjects, a serious conflict in temperament was created.
Facing Merlin's inquiry, Moira said expressionlessly:
"I don't want to come either, but the gorilla entrusted me to help it test the performance of the "Valkyrie" medical armor. I think that since it is a weapon for future warfare, the best testing ground should be on the battlefield."
"All right."
Merlin wanted to refuse, but if you think about it carefully, it would be no problem to take this opportunity to do a equipment test together.
Dr. Moira is not the kind of person who needs protection from others. This biologist who is passionate about genetic modification engineering has performed genetic modification surgery on herself, allowing her to manipulate weird biochemical energy.
In theory, Dr. Moira is also a superhuman, but she stays in the lab so often that it is easy for others to ignore this.
"Soldiers!"
Merlin stood in the ordnance warehouse and said to the agents in front of him:
"You have received the mission briefing. Tonight we will carry out a designated removal operation. You will follow Natasha and Agents Patton into a fortress occupied by terrorists. Your mission is very simple, to clear the garrison there and eliminate the terrorist leaders."
Merlin stretched out his hand, and the photo of Dr. Liszt of Hydra appeared in projection before the agents.
He looked at the shadow again and said:
"Dark Shadow, you have an extra task. I need you to bring back all the data in that fortress database. If you complete this task, your sentence will be over. Do you understand?"
The black shadow gestured to Merlin with an OK gesture.
"very good."
Merlin took out his pocket watch and looked at the time. He said to everyone in front of him:
"I will serve as the rear support for your operation this time, but I think you may not need support. After all, you are the elite among the elites. What you represent is the future war now, and the operation will begin."
At Merlin's order, the "Dwarf" agent Dobi and the three domestic leprechauns recruited by it worked so hard to jump out of the space. They reached out and put their hands on the agents' calves, and then launched a moving spell at the same time, bringing the agents from North America to the preset battlefield in Eastern Europe in an instant.
Merlin turned around, reached out to Natasha and Patton, and then also activated the movement spell. The next moment, they appeared in the mountains outside the suburbs of Sokovia, a small Eastern European town.
From where they were standing, looking east, you can still vaguely see the small town in the dark night, with lights, which looks quite warm.
"I'm back to where I once fought."
Natasha plucked her hair and said to Merlin and Patton:
"You guys caught me there, and Merlin was a rookie at the time."
"But not only has this country not improved over the years, but the situation has become worse and worse."
Merlin shook her head:
"It's gone without a rescue. You take 76, McCree and Death to attack head-on, Clint escorts the shadows into the castle, Moira will support you at low altitude cruises. If it goes well, we can still have a cup of coffee in Sokovia after we finish."
"Xiao Na?"
Natasha looked at Merlin with a weird expression and said:
"At your age and mine, do you think it's appropriate for you to call me that?"
"I always have to have a nickname. I can't call you Black Widow directly. That nickname always feels weird."
Merlin pushed his glasses, and Icarus projected the topographic map of the ancient castle hundreds of meters away on the ridge ahead onto the lens. Through night vision and thermal imaging, the living organisms that were active in the castle were also locked one by one.
While sharing the information with the team members who had already begun the operation, Merlin made a tactical gesture to Moira, who was manipulating the Valkyrie armor, flew into the air.
He said:
"Okay, come on, everyone."
