25. The failed quest

In Hermione's letter to Merlin, she told Merlin that the means used in the wizarding world to treat silent people is to let children who hate their own magic learn to use magic correctly. Once the irritable magic accumulated in their bodies is released, the threat brought by the shadow of darkness will quickly dissipate.
Although Merlin is not a real silent person, his situation is also suitable for "treatment" in this way.
Merlin stayed in Brighton for another half month. During this half month, he devoted most of his energy to learning magic knowledge and studying magic.
Even growing hair and beard don't have time to take care of.
In the real world, no matter what you do, as long as you work hard to a certain extent, you will always get rewards.
On the night of the 13th day, Merlin finally successfully released the first magic or magic trick in his life.
Mantra of Light.
It is the simplest of all primary spells. There are only 2 syllables of spells and very little magic power required. According to the records in "Hogwarts, A School History", the young wizards who really started to participate in the study can usually successfully release this simple magic trick under the guidance of their mentors.
Unfortunately, Merlin did not have the guidance of his mentor, and his knowledge of magic was almost zero. Relying on his hard work, he spent nearly a hundred times the time finally lit up the "light" in his palm.
It was a light flame, like a flame burning in the darkness, emitting a warm light.
The unshaven Merlin looked at the flames in his palm obsessively.
This flame is not powerful, it can only be used for lighting or lighting cigarettes, and cannot be used for combat at all, but for Merlin, its meaning is stronger than any sharp sword.
It represents a locked door opening in front of Merlin.
That is, hope.
"However, the color of the flame is a bit wrong."
Merlin grabbed his messy hair and turned his head to look at the magic book spread out beside him. This book called "Hogwarts, a School History" sounds like a biography of some kind, but in fact, it is also an auxiliary book that little wizards must learn in their first year. It records some basic magic principles, as well as records of mysterious Hogwarts Academy's strange stories.
On the pages of the book that are opened, the appearance of the successful release of the Mantra of Light is recorded in detail. In the moving magical image, the beating flame is faint golden, just like the dawn in the early morning, representing hope and light.
But the flame in Merlin's hand was a dark red color.
It looks a bit weird and a little unknown, and there is no curative symbol at all. It is like a ghost fire that is jumping in the middle of the night.
Although it can be used for lighting, this thing is really strange no matter how you look at it.
"It's probably related to the magical nature of the darkness."
Merlin waved his hand to dissipate the flames. He closed his eyes and felt the magic that echoed in his body.
As expected, just like the record of the text excerpted by Hermione, after releasing the first magic according to the correct magic system, although the magic power in Merlin's body was still expanding, it had become much more docile.
And he began to take the initiative and benign "flow" in Merlin's body for the first time.
Instead of blind and chaotic expansion like before, Merlin breathed a sigh of relief.
He raised his fingers, and a cloud of smoke was still wrapped around Merlin's fingers, but it had become much weaker than the noise-free posture before.
There is no doubt that this is a sign of a better situation.
"Meow"
The ugly Crook Mountain seemed to feel Merlin's joy. It jumped on Merlin's bed lightly, rubbed her head against Merlin's arm, and made a well-behaved attitude.
Merlin knew that this was this cat's tactful reminder.
Stop playing, hurry up and make late-night snacks for me!
"Okay OK."
Merlin reached out and touched Crook Hill's head. He closed the magic book and walked to the kitchen. He got some cat food and added another dried fish. Behind him, Crook Hill's tail had already begun to sway.
"Give it, your late-night snack."
Merlin squatted down and placed the rice bowl in front of the cat. He looked at Mount Crook, and he frowned and said:
"You're fat again. This won't work. Hermione will blame me."
"We've stayed here enough. Let's go back to London tomorrow and find a wand for me. It's still difficult to manipulate magic out of thin air. It seems that wizards always carry wands with them."
Merlin touched Crook Mountain's head, helped it smooth out its fluffy hair, and then returned to the bed.
He looked at the scarlet ray on the pillow and said:
“I probably won’t bleed tonight.”
The next morning, Merlin, who had shaved his beard and had his hair fixed, wore a long windbreaker, carried a bag, and hugged Crook Hill, and retreated from the hotel house. Then he took the train and returned to London.
Compared to the ignorance he had when he entered London last time, Merlin carefully observed this time. When the train drove into London, he indeed saw the faint light curtain on the edge of the city, like a thin beam of light.
The thing is very similar to the color of the sky. If you don’t look carefully, you won’t be able to see it at all.
This should be the reconnaissance barrier set up by the British Ministry of Magic in London. It is like an eye hanging in the sky. In the city of London, any spell casting and weird energy interactions cannot be hidden from this eye.
Merlin relaxed and hid the magic in his body. After the dark magic no longer rioted, this reconnaissance barrier would no longer stimulate Merlin's magic.
And probably because of the reason why he used the Shadow Cloak all year round, Merlin is very good at hiding magic. He doesn't know if such disguise can be hidden from the magic spies hidden in the crowd.
Oh, by the way, they have a special name, auror.
According to Merlin's magic book, the name is based on the goddess of dawn "aurora" in Roman mythology, and is said to be also "eos" in Greek mythology. In the world of wizards, this is a group of magic warriors representing light and opposing darkness.
They are all fighting masters and they are all very difficult to deal with.
Walking out of the train station, Merlin reached out to pull down the black baseball cap on his head, then pushed his frameless glasses and hugged the cat in his arms. He looked around, then reached out to stop a car and headed to the old town of London.
However, downstairs of Hermione's apartment, and at the apartment administrator, Merlin got bad news. The trip of Little Hermione's family seemed to be not over yet and she had not returned home.
Merlin could only leave here with a tired face Crook Mountain. Before leaving, he left a note for Hermione, with his phone number written on it.
While resting in the hotel, Merlin called Gatler while bathing Mount Crucker, who was now on a mission near Paris. He said he would go to London to pick up Merlin in a few days and let him live there with peace of mind.
He called Fury again and talked to him about the recent situation in New York.
Fury told Merlin that Kohler was in trouble with him like he was crazy, but under the protection of the increasingly powerful Pierce, the incompetent person did not dare to take practical actions to stumbling on Fury.
So Fury has had a good time recently, and Fury told Merlin that the Constantine he recommended has begun to take over the work left by Merlin.
The current identity of the magic ruffian is an external staff member of the Strategic Crisis Intervention and Intelligence Logistics Department.
"He is really dishonest."
Fury complained on the phone:
"That guy has made many excuses to try to get money from me. But his work is very effective and he understands the rules of the dark world. He has never caused me trouble. I mean, he is very good at causing trouble, but he can always calm down the trouble with his own hell."
"It sounds like you've worked very happily."
Merlin said to Fury while preparing lunch for Crook Hill:
"Don't take that guy lightly, that guy is a fox, you must be chained to your neck at all times. By the way, Fury, how about that cult of Hell Rabies?"
Hearing this question, Fury's tone suddenly became serious, he said:
"You're right, that organization is indeed very dangerous. I used an unexpected way to reveal the news to Kohler. The guy was fooled immediately and organized a large search of Hell's Kitchen a few days ago."
"He joined forces with the NYPD to operate, and 300 police officers were sent to Hell's Kitchen to surround the Hell Rabies building. They seized a lot of contraband, poison, dangerous guns and ammunition on the spot, and there were even many extremists hidden in it. When we broke in, they were making explosives."
"Sounds like a big victory?"
Merlin put the cat food mixed with slices of meat in front of Crook Mountain, then touched the cat's head and asked:
"Did you catch Morris?"
"No! That's the problem."
Fury said in a regretful tone:
"I saw with my own eyes the kind of defective half-demon you mentioned. If you hadn't reminded us to bring heavy weapons, it would have been difficult to end that day."
"Seven half-demons who were stimulated by blood almost demolished the entire building. More than 40 police officers and agents were injured. You didn't see the situation at that scene, it was like the battlefield. We finally used explosives, heavy sniper rifles, grenade launchers, etc., and poured firepower at them for 5 minutes before destroying the monsters and the building."
"The cult leader Morris must have run away. No one knows where it is hidden now. I have commissioned Constantine to search its traces. But it is hard to say whether it can be found."
"It's not your fault, Fury."
Merlin comforted:
"That dangerous dark creature is not something we ordinary agents should deal with. I recently found some news in London. It is said that an organization called "Demon Hunter" is active in the world. If those powerful half-demons are too terrible, it will lead to the removal and killing of the Demon Hunter."
"So although they look powerful, they are also limited by the rules in their own world. That Morris, he dared not make a mess in New York, believe me."
"No, I'm not afraid, Merlin."
Fury explained:
"I regret it. If I knew the consequences of this matter were so serious, I shouldn't have left it to Kohler to deal with it. If I could wait a little longer and wait until our master who specializes in dealing with the paranormal phenomenon returns, then that Morris would never be able to escape. This time, it was me who neglected that dangerous half-demon's escape, it was my responsibility."
"You always say there is a master helping us."
Merlin asked again:
"But you never tell me what the master is called? Does he or she really exist?"
"certainly!"
Fury hesitated for a few seconds and lowered his voice to Merlin:
"He exists, and he is one of the members of the 'Demon Hunter' you call him. His name is Ulysses Bloodstone. He is said to be one of the most powerful demon hunters in the present day. He once fought side by side with Captain America Steve Rogers, and with the help of the Roaring Commando, he dismantled the German vampire army. If you have the chance, you will definitely see him."
"Bloodstone? This surname"
Merlin narrowed his eyes, and after he hung up the phone, he quickly found the book "Where Are the Fantastic Beasts" and turned to the title page of the vampire chapter. Sure enough, this surname exists in the records of the magical beast naturalist and the second-level magician of Sir Merlin.
It was one of several secret vampire hunters families from the Middle Ages to the present.
It seems that the master in Fury's mouth is indeed a real super heavyweight master, not a liar like Constantine who only knows how to cheat.
Meilin closed the pages of the book, and he looked at the time. It was 8 o'clock in the evening. Meilin put on her clothes, put on the baseball cap, took her bunch of small things, and walked out of the door.
Taking advantage of the night, Merlin is going to explore the mysterious Diagon Alley.
It is said that it is equivalent to a wizard's supermarket, and anything Merlin needs now can be found there.
"bookstore."
Merlin stood on the street at the intersection of Charling, and looked to his left, where a closed bookstore was located.
“Record store.”
He looked to the right again, which was a record store that was still open but was very popular.
"It should be here."
Merlin held a hand-drawn map in his hand and looked up at the middle of the bookstore and record store.
It was a map specially sandwiched by Mr. Arthur in the pages of "Hogwarts, a School History", marked the road to Diagon Alley.
However, in the middle of bookstores and record stores, the standard place on the map is a bar called Broken Cauldron.
But when Meilin raised her head, there was nothing in front of her except the old walls.
“It should be here!”
Merlin looked at the map several times. After confirming that he had made no mistake, he put away the map and took a few steps forward.
He thought it was a trick, like a shadow cloak, covering the original building with shadows.
But beyond his expectations, he walked forward to the wall and could not find the door to the hidden kettle bar.
It's like that place, it's not here at all.
"No, that's not the case."
Meilin reached out and took off his glasses. He focused on the empty earth in front of him.
The embers in his eyes began to thunder, and the empty earth under the darkness gradually layered in front of him, and he could vaguely see the twisted scene in it.
It looked like an old and small old bar, with a pale lamp hanging at the door and a sign with a broken cauldron. You can still see people shaking in the bar.
But all of this is like a layer of water curtain, which cannot be seen or touched.
"There must be some way!"
Merlin frowned. He was a little regretful now. He did not carry those magic books with him. In those books, there must be a way to enter the bar.
But tonight, he probably returned in disappointment.
Merlin put on his glasses, shook his head, glanced at the bar of the chariot, he put his hands in the pocket of the windbreaker, turned around and planned to leave.
However, at this moment, something black fell at his feet with a bang.
It scared Merlin.
This thing seemed to appear out of thin air. He took a step back and looked at the things under his feet, and the shadows could not be seen clearly. But Merlin could feel that the thing in front of him had life activities, as if he was injured.
Merlin squatted down and reached out to touch the shadow. The moment his fingers touched, the shadow in front of him suddenly dissipated, and what appeared in front of him was a weak, injured, holding a weapon.
Brunette beauty.
Merlin's heart suddenly sank, he knew
Chapter completed!
