17. Lame Donald (Part 1)

In the border town of New Mexico, Merlin stood outside the garage, helping the Raven Munin peel melon seeds while chatting with it.
In the garage, all four of them were in a coma and seemed to be unable to wake up for a while. Icarus turned off the monitors in the neighborhood, and no one would come to disturb Merlin and Munning's conversation.
"Look, smart bird, I am the official staff member of the earth, which is equivalent to your Asgard guard captain, and I have my duties."
Meilin put a handful of peeled melon seeds in his palm and let Mu Ning peck around, he said:
"So you might as well tell me what's going on? So that I can be prepared."
"Thor is a fool, let's see him confronting his good brother Odin."
Muning, the raven, looked not very smart. It was attracted by the fragrance emitted by the melon seeds in Meilin's hand, and it said everything it saw was as if it was heartless.
"My good brother Odin has been annoyed lately. He has been fighting. The frost giants are more powerful than ever before. He was so angry that he was mad by his son that he beat him up and drove him to this remote place where birds do not shit."
Muning ate melon seeds, it said:
"But my good brother is worried about his son, so he sent us to see him."
"My good brothers have always been a very conflicting person. It's not the first time we've done this chore. However, your world is much more prosperous than the last time we came here, and it's a bit like the one that Asgard was just established."
"Oh, have you been to Earth before?"
Meilin reached out and tried to touch Muning's feathers, but the bird that responded quickly pecked at his finger. Muning stared at him and said dissatisfiedly:
"Who do you think we are? Can anyone touch our feathers? If you dare to be so frivolous, we will blind you next time."
"Also, we did come to Midgart many times, but that was a long time ago. We came with our good brother Odin, and he was also working on the frost giant at that time."
"Well, the Frost Giant is also quite pitiful, and he was beaten repeatedly."
"Okay, you fierce bird."
Meilin shook his fingers, and the skin that was pecked by Mu Ning was a little hurt, and the atomization failed at that moment.
So this raven that looks stupid is not as simple as it seems on the surface. After all, it is Odin's pet, and the God King's pet is definitely not ordinary.
"What does Odin mean?"
Merlin asked:
"He lets his son live on Earth, but he doesn't allow us to interfere. What's that?"
"Munning, I believe that you are so smart, you will definitely understand that a prince has something to do on the territory of another country. Then no matter how we shirk responsibility afterwards, there will be a lot of trouble coming to the door, right?"
"Yes, we can understand."
Muning ate all the last melon seeds. It flapped its wings and flew to the branches above Meilin's head. It said to Meilin:
"But every king of Asgard must complete his journey to the nine kingdoms before he ascended the throne. Thor's situation is special, but it is also the official beginning of his journey."
"If Thor is in danger, he must rely on his own wisdom to resolve the crisis. If he wants to return to his hometown, then he must complete this journey belonging to the king."
"You can't intervene. If you protect Thor, the journey will lose its meaning. Our good brother Odin will not allow this."
"I have one last question."
Meilin stood up, he patted the dust on his body, looked up at Mu Ning, and said:
"But what if Thor unfortunately died in the crisis? And Thor's Hammer, is that kind of thing just thrown on earth so casually?"
"These are two questions, you idiot."
Muning tilted his head and criticized Merlin's mortal wisdom. The slightly rude bird was silent for a few seconds, as if communicating with some mysterious person. After a few seconds, it said to Merlin:
"If Thor really died, it means that his fate should be like this, which is Asgard's tradition!"
"Traditional, do you know? Things that must be followed are like good brothers who do not allow us and Hu Jin to excrete casually in the Golden Palace Hall. This is the rule!"
"As for Mjolnir, just throw it there."
Muning flapped her wings and flew up, and it flew around Meilin twice, it said:
"As long as you Midgarts don't move it, nothing will happen. In short, don't owe your hands, that's it."
After saying that, Muning rattled twice, then flew away with her wings, but before it flew away, she left a "gift" to Merlin very mischievously.
"Melin"
"Um?"
"You have bird shit on your shoulders"
"I know that damn bird!"

After Merlin returned to New York, he contacted Sif and others who were far away in Asgard several times. Perhaps Asgard also explained Thor's whereabouts. In short, the search for Thor was over.
Merlin did not tell anyone about this. Odin hoped that his son would start a king's experience on Earth. That was Asgard's tradition and his family affairs. Merlin didn't care and didn't need to worry about it.
All he could do was keep this secret and try not to let too many external factors interfere with Thor's life on Earth.
After all, he had already received a warning from the rude Muning from the heavenly Father God Odin. If Merlin doesn't know the current affairs, then his fate will be difficult to say.
Merlin already has secrets related to Odin, so staying away from this matter as much as possible is the real right choice.
Therefore, after that day, except for the addition of an "ordinary person" on the earth, apart from the addition of a mysterious containment of s.d.o.l.d., it seemed that nothing had happened.
But the story of Thor, the exiled, continues.
"Thor!"
On the edge of the desert town, at dusk, Dr. Eric Shavig stood in front of his RV, calling on the name of the guy who had joined his small team.
"Thor, it's time to have a meal!"
Dr. Shavig is a famous astronomy and energy scientist who has a decent job. This time he came to New Mexico, also regarded it as a way to help his student Jane Foster complete his master's thesis.
In addition to being a student of Dr. Shavig, Jane is also the daughter of a doctor's old friend.
After his old friend passed away, Dr. Shavig, who had never married all his life, regarded Jane as his daughter. He cared about Jane very much, and in recent days, he was very upset because Jane seemed to be too close to the guy of unknown origin.
"Thor?"
The doctor searched around the RV and finally found Thor who was standing there on the edge of the desert.
Well, this guy kept saying that his name was Thor, as if he was suffering from paranoia, but in the past two days, he seemed to have finally calmed down and became quiet and melancholy.
But he was not useless. This guy was strong and was almost like a strong man, except for his a little limp when walking.
Not only can it help the doctor's research team carry things and do strength work, it can also play a different role at critical moments.
For example, the night before yesterday, a drunkard harassed Daisy, but was beaten by Thor holding a wooden stick and ran away. From that incident, Thor truly integrated into this temporary team and accepted the salary paid by Dr. Shavig.
He seemed very satisfied with this kind of life, and he seemed to have nowhere to go.
"What are you doing here?"
Dr. Shavik walked up to Thor and he asked.
Thor did not answer. He leaned on a cane and was wearing a set of Earthlings' clothes, putting his right hand in his pocket. He tied his golden hair behind his head with a ponytail, and his scattered beard was neatly cleaned.
He looked at the sunset at the end of the desert and seemed to be fascinated by it.
The old doctor admitted that the scene was beautiful, but he had been here for more than a month, and he was tired of seeing the scene even though it was beautiful.
But he did not bother Thor. As an old man in his 50s, Dr. Shavik has experienced most of his life and he knows a lot.
Just like Thor who was bathing in the sunset at this time, this tall young man was emitting a sadness that could be seen without eyes.
It’s like a wanderer leaving the house and traveling far away, looking back at the melancholy of his hometown when he is alone.
Although there were no tears in his eyes, the feeling on his silent face could not be faked.
This young man must be very sad now.
"It's time to go back for dinner. Thor, I'm going to the desert tonight to do astrological records."
Dr. Shavik waited for several minutes, and he reached out and patted Thor on the shoulder, and he whispered:
"If you are really sad, maybe we can go and have some wine in a while. You didn't want to talk about that before, maybe you can talk to me, the old man now."
"Thank you, Eric."
Thor lowered his head, turned his face and smiled hard, he said:
"Actually there is nothing to say. I am a rebellious son. I called my father a fool. I thought he must have been crazy at the time, and I was definitely right, but after only a few days, I started to miss home."
"I thought I was firm enough, but now I find that I'm not that firm."
Thor looked at the sunset in front of him and said softly:
"I thought it was just a joke, but that wasn't, it wasn't a dream, it was reality, it had happened, everything was irreversible."
"I have been thinking about what I have done before these days. I have tried hard to examine myself. I want to see if I have really done something wrong. I want to find the mistakes I made and try to make up for it."
He turned his head and looked at Dr. Eric beside him, and he said:
"I want to tell my father that I knew I was wrong and let him take me home, just like we did before, just pretending that nothing happened."
"Then have you found it?"
Dr. Eric was stunned for a moment, he looked at Thor, and he said:
"Have you found the mistake you made?"
In the setting sun, Thor shook his head and whispered:
"No, no, I didn't find it."
"In fact, today, when I stand here, I still feel hopelessly thinking that I did nothing wrong."
"so what?"
The doctor said to Thor:
"Then what should you do in the future? I'm following your words, you don't seem to admit your mistake to your father. Don't you want to go home?"
"I want to go home, but"
Thor raised his head, he let out a long sigh, and he looked at the sky above his head, and he said:
"But to let me choose from my own beliefs and my family, I would rather live like this, just like everyone else in this world, like you, like Jane, like Daisy, just like this."
A hint of stubbornness flashed in his eyes, and he said:
"It's a tough choice, but I've done it after all."
"Life is very difficult, the life of a hero is very difficult, but the life of ordinary people is even more difficult. If ordinary people can support it, I should stick to it too."
"You always have to have some belief in life. This is what Jane taught me. She is really a good girl."
"Hi Thor."
Dr. Eric blinked his eyes, and he stretched out his hand and held Thor's shoulder with some difficulty, he whispered:
"Jane is of course a good girl. I watched her grow up. She is always interested in those mysterious things, such as the stories you told us when you were drunk last night."
"What are the rainbow bridges, the world trees, the nine kingdoms, etc. I don't know where you heard these, but they sound quite interesting."
"Well, this is not the point, the point is the boy. If you want to continue to develop with Jane, then you should at least have a formal job, right?"
Dr. Eric and Thor turned toward the garage, Thor leaned on his cane, and he was slightly limping when he walked.
This is the sequelae of being shot by Eternal Gun. He had really annoyed his terrible father before, and his ruthless father was ruthless when he started to take action.
Under the setting sun, two people, one old and one young, walked together, and Dr. Eric kept talking to Thor:
"You are also a pretty good young man, very kind and have a good figure, but the problem is that Jane will definitely live in a big city in the future. I'm not saying that she hates the poor and loves the rich, but I'm an old man. The old man always thinks a lot. Listen to me, Thor, you have to find a decent job."
"Otherwise I wouldn't have allowed you to continue dating Jane."
"Eric, Eric, I just admire Jane very much, I don't plan to go any further"
"Oh, is that? Ah, this is good, but I still said, Thor, it's not easy for young people to support themselves in this era. You always have a long-term plan and can't always do odd jobs."
"Well, what you said makes sense, I'll think about it again."
ps:
It is quite interesting to use the settings of ancient cinema here to make Thor a lame doctor, and he can be linked with a character who has not appeared.
