6. The Colson Story [11/100]
Phil Colson was nervous.
Logically speaking, he was not qualified to carry a gun because of his intern agents who had not graduated from the Secret Service Academy. But because of the mandatory requirements of Kohler, Phil and other agents who were trained in the Nevada base were given the authority to equip guns this time.
The rookies were told that Nick Fury, a civilian agent at the Strategic Crisis Intervention and Intelligence Logistics Department, betrayed the organization and entered the secret base with a woman suspected of spies from other forces.
In fact, logic is to say that these rookies should be more familiar with Fury, because in recent times, their training has been coordinated by Fury.
However, Kohler is the nominal director after all, and even the old agents know who is the real boss of the organization. But Kohler's current identity still easily scares these rookies who have not yet joined the job.
They were almost confused and were stuffed into the helicopter and followed the director to "catch the traitor".
Many rookie agents were somewhat excited when they performed a mission for the first time.
But Phil was not excited. He instinctively felt that Chief Fury had not done anything wrong. As for Director Kohler's real attempt, he did not understand and did not care.
"Don't move! Or I'll shoot!"
In the underground passage of Pagasos base, Phil held a gun in his hands and pointed it at the guy in front of him wearing a black combat uniform and a headscarf.
In the past ten minutes, the agents' contact channels were silent one after another, and Phil also heard the agents' screams and calls for help, which showed that someone or something was attacking the agents.
Phil also saw his companion who was knocked out in the elevator. Perhaps, that was exactly what the guy in front of him did.
"Phil Colson"
The guy pointed at the gun turned around, he looked at Phil, and Phil saw his eyes.
It was strange, like the embers that were extinguished after the flames were extinguished.
It is absolutely impossible for a normal person to have such pupils! This guy in front of him is abnormal!
And how could he know his name?
"Don't move! Last warning!"
Agent Colson warned again, but the man didn't care at all. He raised his finger and pointed it at Colson, and he said word by word:
"How come you are here!"
The black-clad warrior crossed the alien unconscious at his feet and took a step towards Agent Colson, watching him start to act. A sharp light flashed in Colson's eyes, and his fingers were placed on the trigger.
"Don't come over!"
He finally issued a warning, but Merlin didn't care, and he continued to move forward as if he hadn't seen the pistol in Colson's hand.
"Damn it!"
Agent Colson gritted his teeth and pulled the trigger.
But at the same second when the trigger was pulled, he saw Merlin disappear strangely and appeared in his eyes the next second, and the pistol in his hand was also lifted into the sky by a force.
"Bang"
A gunshot.
Merlin, who appeared strangely in front of Colson, held the pistol that had just been activated in his left hand and waved his five fingers together with his right hand.
Seeing his weapon being controlled, Agent Colson reacted very quickly and let go of the pistol, but as soon as he made a fighting position, Merlin's right hand swung accurately hit his neck.
Colson felt severe pain, and the next moment, his eyes were spinning in front of him and fell to the ground weakly.
His last perspective was Merlin's movement of bent down and stretching his hand towards him, as well as his eyes shining with the light of the ashes.
My first mission
It's shameful failure.
Merlin carried Colson, and his other hand was dragging the unconscious Scoluts' hands, like he was dragging a heavy object.
The entire Pagasos base became chaotic due to the raids of agents brought by Kohler, but the guards in various places had no time to react when facing raiders like Merlin.
Relying on the raid of dark perception and black mist, Merlin returned to the parking lot ten minutes later.
He threw Colson into the back seat, tied the alien with chains, and threw it into the trunk. Then he sat in the driver's seat, drove himself, and relied on a "borrowed" identity card to leave the Pagasos base unimpeded in the chaos of the base.
While driving, Merlin raised his arms and there was an unread message on the watch with BP function.
That was sent by Fury more than ten minutes ago.
“Get out of danger and heading to Louisiana and stay in touch!”
After learning that Fury and Fus were out of danger, Merlin breathed a sigh of relief. He raised his head, turned the rearview mirror, and pointed it at Colson, who was unconscious in the back seat.
He looked at the familiar face, and he looked at his former younger brother, Merlin's mood was a little complicated for a moment.
He didn't know how to face him, and most importantly, he didn't even know that Fury actually recruited Phil into the Strategic Crisis Intervention and Logistics Intelligence Department.
Now, I remembered in a daze that a few months ago, when he was on the phone with Fury, Fury said that he was on a business trip in Wisconsin at that time.
"Ah, it's too slow."
Meilin reached out and patted his forehead. He looked at the dazed mountain road in front of him, and said:
"I should have noticed it long ago."
But now that things have happened, since he has not been able to stop Phil before he is involved in this mess, he can only accept the incident. Merlin turned on the steering wheel and looked at the coma Colson in the rearview mirror, and said:
"So"
"What should I do with you? Phil my brother."
A few hours later, Merlin returned to the small bar where he and Fury were leaving.
Pancho's bar was empty, and the bartender and boss who were scared away by Furth had not returned yet. Merlin opened the lock, carried the aliens and Colson into the bar, threw them onto the chair, then walked to the back of the bar, poured himself a glass of wine and added ice.
He picked up the cup, took off his head cover, picked up the wine glass and took a sip. He turned his head and looked out the window. The light at dusk shone in along the window, lighting up the dim bar a little.
A few minutes later, Merlin slowly said:
"When are you going to pretend to be asleep?"
No one answered him, the whole bar was quiet.
Merlin walked out of the bar with a glass of wine. He sat on the chair, opposite him, Phil Colson, who was pretending to be in a coma.
The rookie thought he was pretending well, but in the dark perception spreading out of Merlin, his every move was like a torch in the darkness and could not be hidden at all.
"Bang"
Something hit the table in front of Agent Colson. The sudden sound made Agent Colson's eyes jump, but he still closed his eyes tightly and pretended to be in a coma.
"Merlin Riley, a 2nd-level field agent of the Strategic Crisis Intervention and Logistics Intelligence Department!"
Meilin leaned on the chair and told the rookie in front of him that he took a sip of wine and said softly:
"You should call me the sir now! Rookie."
"Um?"
Hearing Merlin's unexpected identity, Colson opened his eyes and looked at Merlin suspiciously. The more he looked at her, the more he felt that Merlin looked familiar. He seemed to have seen him before.
But Colson didn't make any statement. Instead, he looked down at the documents on the table.
He picked up the ID and looked at several hidden details. After more than ten seconds, Colson confirmed that the identity card in front of him was real. In other words, this guy who he considered a bad person was actually his own person?
"Why did you attack us?"
Colson put the black wallet back on the table and pushed it to Merlin. He looked at Merlin and said:
"If you are really an old agent in the organization, why attack your own people?"
"Because the command you executed is wrong, novices!"
Merlin said to Colson:
"Korel is an incompetent person, and it's not Koorel who leads you! I can guarantee that the guy is still locked up somewhere in the Nevada base. The basic skills that the agent should have to distinguish between the enemy and me, Agent Colson, unfortunately, in this matter, you all made a wrong judgment."
"Your agent training is very failed, Fury, who has high expectations for you, will probably be very disappointed."
"you mean"
Colson rubbed his neck, staring at Merlin, he said:
"What Chief Fury did is right?"
"Well, I can't judge at the moment."
Merlin drank cold wine, he said:
"Nothing can be judged whether it is right or wrong before the result appears. But I can tell you at least that Fury is more trustworthy than Kohler. If you don't say this, your confidentiality level is not enough to know more news. And what I am more interested in is you!"
Merlin put down his wine glass, and he knocked on the table and said to Colson:
"Tell me your story, Agent Colson. How did you get recruited and why did you promise Fury to join this intelligence organization?"
Merlin's request was strange. Although Colson was a rookie, he also realized a little weird. He looked at Merlin, and after a moment, he said:
"Sir, I'm very confused. Does my story have anything to do with this matter itself?"
"Of course there is!"
Merlin said with a serious look on his face:
"Sir Fry needs enough support when carrying out dangerous missions. I have to know if you are trustworthy in order to decide whether you are going to take you deeper into this matter and take you to the battlefield. Do you understand what I mean? Agent Colson."
"Uh, it makes some sense."
Rookie Colson was confused by Merlin's serious expression and tone. He felt that Merlin's words made sense, and he really wanted to do the right thing.
So in Merlin's gaze, Colson whispered:
“I’m from Wisconsin, and last year, I just graduated from high school and I was preparing for college on my own farm.”
"etc!"
Merlin interrupted Colson's narrative, saying:
“Have you bought it from Colson Farm?”
"How do you know we've ever sold farms?"
Merlin's question surprised Colson, and he asked:
"That was only our family who knew about it!"
"Because I've seen you before! Colson."
Merlin shrugged and said calmly to Colson:
"We met at Madison Hospital in Wisconsin for 5 years ago. You may have forgotten that I claimed to be your father's friend. At that time, although I was not an agent of the organization, I had already had contact with Fury. I know that he has been following you very early. Do you understand what I mean?"
Merlin rubbed his forehead, and he said half true and half false:
"I'm actually very clear about your past. But I need you to show your sincerity and continue talking, so that I can really trust you."
"Uh, OK."
Colson did have this vague impression of memory in his mind. He always felt that Merlin's face was very familiar. Five years ago, when his father was hospitalized, he did have such an experience.
Now, he finally knew where that familiarity came from.
So Colson continued with doubt:
"Fry found me on the farm, and he told me that he had been observing me for a long time and thought I had the qualifications to be an agent. I had loved reading all kinds of superhero comics since I was a child, and I wanted to do something good that would help the country and the people, so I didn't think about it for too long and joined the organization and then trained in Nevada."
"What else?"
Merlin lowered his head and asked softly:
"Anyone, making any decision, is to find something. Colson, have you found it during the period of time when he joined the organization and became an agent?"
"I don't understand a little, sir."
A trace of nervousness flashed in Colson's eyes, and he said:
"I just want to do something good, Chief Fury told me that after joining the organization, I can do a lot."
“I mean”
Merlin raised her head and pushed her glasses, staring at Colson, he said:
"Your personal purpose of becoming an agent! Is it to satisfy your inner desire to become a hero? Or to find something that may have been lost?"
Under Merlin's gaze, Agent Colson moved his body uneasy, and the two remained silent until nearly a minute later, Agent Colson raised his head again, he looked at Merlin, and he said:
"have."
"My father suffered a disaster five years ago. After the car accident, he fell into a coma for two years. I thought my father could never wake up again. But in the spring of the third year, his father miraculously opened his eyes, although he could only sit in a wheelchair for the rest of his life."
"But his awakening made my mother and I very happy. We thought it was a refuge from faith, but my father told us, no!"
Agent Colson put his finger on the table, and he looked at Merlin with a different feeling in his eyes, he said:
"My father told me that he should have died, but someone saved him. He could not remember anything about that person, but he knew that that person was important to us and the Colson family, and he told me that the man paid a heavy price to pull him back from hell."
"He asked me to find him! My father asked me to do everything he could to find that person. It sounds weird, right? Sir, but I can feel that what my father said is true. Yes, you are right, I really have a private purpose in joining the organization."
Colson breathed a sigh of relief, he looked at Merlin calmly, and said:
“I want to find the guy who helped us.”
Colson's self-report made Merlin's mood turbulent.
But he was still expressionless on the surface. After more than ten seconds, he nodded to Colson and said:
"Very good, you passed! Novice, from now on, you are by my side."
"Let's go and save Fury!"
"Let's go do good things!"
