Chapter 23 The Buddha said that afflictions are Bodhi
Li Ye naturally didn't know that a group of people from Hongxiu Tower had sold the song he and his husband had written for three gold coins.
He has been staying at the Great Buddha Temple for three days. Apart from going to the temple with the old monk for morning lessons, he spent the rest of the time practicing "Fuhuhu Luohan Fist" in the backyard of the temple.
He has already reached the third level of foundation building. After several days of hard training, he can already breathe evenly and no longer be scattered after completing a punch.
The old monk once told him that after punching, if the breathing is scattered, the Qi will not be condensed, and he will not be able to practice to a higher state in the later period.
I saw that Li Ye's movements were concise and capable, using three or five movements in a series, fast and fierce, fierce and strong, short and close attacks, stretched yet firm and violent, compact and generous.
After hard training, Luohan Quan has become a master. In the words of the old monk, as long as you practice it in actual combat, you can move towards the realm of small success and great success.
Li Ye was secretly happy. This time he and his husband went to the mountains to collect herbs and practice. Finally, they had a set of boxing techniques of their own. They no longer had to be afraid of ferocious beasts.
After finishing the boxing, Li Ye went to the Buddhist hall to find the old monk, so he went to the Buddhist altar and lit a stick of incense and kowtowed three times.
I fetched water, added charcoal to the stove to make a fire, boiled water, warmed the pot, washed the tea, washed the cups, and made tea when the old monk came back.
Looking at the Bodhisattva on the Buddha platform, I thought that my second level of "Formless Dharmakaya" has been perfected and I can break through to the third level of human form at any time.
In the past few days, in the main hall, I often see men, women, and children burning incense and praying for blessings in the city. They all have different appearances and thoughts. I don’t know what kind of wishes they have made in front of the Buddha and how many wishes have come true.
Thinking of all these things, I couldn't help but feel troubled. I looked at the scriptures placed in front of the Buddhist altar, picked up one and chanted, and saw that it was the "Ksitigarbha Sutra" I had copied, so I softly recited:
...
From a long time ago, I was guided by the Buddha and gained incredible divine power and great wisdom. My avatars fill hundreds of thousands of billions of Ganges sand worlds. Each world takes on hundreds of thousands of billions of bodies, and each body lives in hundreds of thousands.
Trillions of people, please pay homage to the Three Jewels, escape from life and death forever, and reach the bliss of Nirvana. However, for the good deeds you have done in Buddhism, no matter how small a hair, a grain, a grain of sand, a grain of dust, or even a hair, I will gradually escape and achieve great benefits. I only wish
World Honored One, don’t worry about beings with bad karma in the future lives...
This is what the Three White Buddha said: "I only hope that, World Honored One, I will not worry about beings with bad deeds in the future."
After the stick of incense was burned out, Li Ye finished reading a volume of hymns. He felt that his mind was much calmer and he was no longer bored.
In the blink of an eye, the old monk was already sitting next to him, picking up the teapot and pouring tea for himself and Li Ye.
After blowing on the hot air, the old monk took a sip of tea and said, "Do you have worries in your heart?"
Li Ye looked at the kind look on the old monk's face and replied softly: "In the past few days, Di Zi has seen many people coming to worship Buddha in front of the main hall. Some are happy, some are sad, each has his or her own thoughts, and each has his or her own thoughts.
Mutually."
"I don't know what kind of wishes they made in front of the Buddha and how many wishes they fulfilled. Thinking about it like this, it is inevitable that a trace of trouble will arise in my heart..."
After listening, the old monk recited a Buddhist name, looked at Li Ye with his lowered eyes, just like the Bodhisattva on the Buddhist altar looking at Li Ye, and said softly:
The four phases of me, people, sentient beings, and longevity are all the phases of ordinary beings. Ordinary people think that there is a real me in the world. This is my phase. If there is me, there will be people to treat. This is the phase of human beings. There is more than one person to treat.
, this is the appearance of all living beings.
The continuous thought of my appearance is the appearance of a longevity person. Everything that actually appears is impermanent and is a temporary gathering of causes and conditions.
The parents, sir, the princess in the General's Mansion, the princess in the Territory Lord's Mansion, and me in your eyes are all the faces you see. A thousand people have a thousand faces, each of which is different.
This requires you to have the wisdom eye mentioned by the Buddha to identify the appearance of all living beings.
Your second level of "Formless Dharmakaya" has been perfected, and you will naturally transition to the third level of human form at about the same time. It is a very good thing that you realize this problem at this time.
"Excuse me, Master, how should I face this? How can I develop my discernment?" Li Ye looked at the old monk who was dressed in a treasure-like appearance.
The old monk chanted in praise of Namo Amitabha and said: "Troubles are mine, that is Bodhi."
"Trouble and Bodhi are the same. All mental effects that hinder enlightenment are called troubles; conversely, the wisdom that cuts off the troubles in the world and achieves nirvana is called Bodhi."
"However, the troubles such as greed, anger, and ignorance should have the essence of Bodhi. Apart from the nature of Bodhi, there is no other dharma to speak of. Therefore, the name of Bodhi is established for the nature of troubles."
In human consciousness, restlessness, pain and worry are called worries. But in Buddhism, the Buddha calls all the mental effects that disturb the physical and mental peace of sentient beings and cause them confusion and distress as "troubles".
"Trouble is Bodhi. You don't have to cling to false thoughts in everything. Only when you know how to let go can you be relieved. Get rid of troubles and achieve Bodhi. Otherwise, there will be inner demons. That's why we have: One thought will lead to Buddhahood, and one thought will lead to demons."
"So, what is a wise eye?" Li Ye continued to ask.
"With the naked eye, light can see darkness but not the past. With the wise eye, one can see the shallow and profound meanings of words, and the causes and effects of good and evil in past and future lives, just like the moon in the palm of your hand. The true wisdom eye is not in the body, it has no form, and it is not in the heart.
In your practice, you will understand this truth."
Nodding, Li Ye said he understood the old monk's instructions.
Picking up the teapot, the old monk added tea to the two of them and asked, "You had an epiphany under the bodhi tree a few days ago. What did you gain in your heart? For Buddhism or for your practice?"
Li Ye took the cup handed by the old monk with both hands and murmured softly: "Everyone in the world can become a Buddha, and I am also a Buddha."
He added: "There is no breakthrough in my practice. I just feel that my mind has suddenly broadened and I have understood some principles that I didn't quite understand before."
After hearing the words, the old monk recited the Buddha's name and held flowers in his left hand. He was extremely happy. "Every living being has Buddha nature and can become a Buddha. However, because they are blinded by delusions and attachments, they cannot restore the Buddha nature. If you restore the Buddha nature, you will become a Buddha."
"The self-nature is originally full of everything, whether it is open or closed, no one knows it, or someone knows it, you might as well: be content and always happy."
"It is much rarer for you to have such an enlightenment than for you to improve your realm. Everyone in the world wants to have enlightenment under the bodhi tree in order to achieve enlightenment, but through the ages, a few people have achieved enlightenment." After the old monk finished speaking, he picked up the tea cup and drank for himself.
The tea in the cup is gone.
Li Ye knelt down and kowtowed to the old monk, stood up and sat down cross-legged, saying: "Master, in a few days I will go to Tianshan with my husband to search for medicine and practice. I may not be able to come to the temple for a long time to listen to your teachings."
I hope Master will take care of yourself and practice compassion."
"When the disciple comes back, I will make tea and boil water for you." Li Ye looked at the old monk and said seriously.
The old monk got up and went to the Buddhist altar, lit a stick of incense, then turned around to meditate, and waved to Li Ye, who was about to start chanting sutras.
Li Ye felt reluctant to give up and sighed in his heart. He kowtowed to the old monk again, got up and left the Buddhist hall.
The old monk looked at Li Ye's back as he walked out of the Buddhist hall and thought to himself: "The young eagle must finally be released before it can soar into the sky." He closed his eyes slightly and began to chant scriptures.
After leaving the Buddhist hall, Li Ye looked at the pedestrians coming and going to pray for blessings, and thought to himself: "It's time to go back and see my parents and husband."
...
At this time, someone in Fengyun City had spread that the song written by the academy's young genius Li Ye could be ordered in the Red Sleeve Tower. It was limited to two times a day and three gold coins each time.
For a time, the literati, dignitaries, and even Tang Youyu were thinking about how to make an appointment with some guests, go to Hongxiu Tower for a drink, and then order this song to enjoy themselves.
Li Hongxiu sat firmly on the fourth floor, leaning on the railing, looking at the pedestrians coming and going downstairs, thinking: What's the hurry? Boil the toad in warm water, take your time.
Dongfang Yu'er stayed beside her aunt, looking at the passers-by downstairs, thinking about her own concerns: Autumn is coming soon, the weather is getting colder, will her mother suddenly have to return to Sifang City one day?
It would be difficult to see Li Ye again.
Downstairs in Hongxiu, there was a passing coachman driving a carriage, whip in hand and singing a tune, causing passersby to turn around.
My brother is sixteen this year
The little girl is fifteen this year
Everyone says we two are perfect for each other
You left your sister halfway at the intersection
...
The driver drove the carriage far away.
Li Hongxiu was startled when he heard his thoughts.
Dongfang Yu'er felt crazy after hearing this.
...
These days were the most difficult for the Tang Dynasty. After the gentleman said that his illness could be cured, he never saw Li Ye again.
Recently, the school has been on holiday again. I went to my husband's yard a few times but didn't see Li Ye. I had lunch today and after learning some common knowledge about medicinal herbs from my father in the medicine pavilion, I wandered over.
The door of Li Ye's house.
Just as he was about to knock on the door, Agui came back from outside and patted Tang Chao's face, which shocked him.
"Agui, do you want to scare me to death? Is this appropriate in broad daylight?" Fatty Tang was dissatisfied.
"Hey, aren't we kidding you after we haven't seen each other for a few days? You are so cowardly." Agui deliberately laughed at the fat man. "Isn't the school on vacation? Are you here to see the young master?"
"Why should I come here if you don't want to find Li Ye? How can it be easy for me on this hot day?" The fat man will sweat even if he is not exposed to the sun.
Agui looked at the fat man with disgust and said: "The young master has been practicing at the Great Buddha Temple these days with the old monk. He has not returned home and wants to go to the temple."
Tang Chao was stunned and thought to himself that I finally saw the hope of losing weight. This brother actually hid in the temple to practice Buddhism again. Do I have to go and invite him out of the Great Buddha Temple?
Just as he was talking, suddenly and without any warning, it began to rain heavily in the sky above the academy.
The blows hit both of them hard, causing severe pain.
The two hurriedly hid under the eaves of the gate. Agui turned around and took a stool from inside the door, handed it to Tang Chao, and said, "How about we take shelter here from the rain. Maybe the young master will come back soon. It's raining so hard anyway."
, you can’t go home either.”
