Chapter 264 Player of the Week

At the 1998 draft, the Celtics, who held the 10th draft pick in the first round, selected Paul Pierce from the University of Kansas. Pitino, then head coach of the Celtics, shouted, "We picked up the treasure."

After that shrinkage, Pierce played a total of 48 games, averaging 16.5 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.0 blocks per game. Among them, both scoring and rebounding data ranked third among the rookies that year, so he was selected as the first team of the All-Rookie Team.

Of course, the core of the Celtics is not Pierce, but Anthony Walker, known as the "fat-headed" one. His data is quite stable. He has obtained data in about 2010 in the past three seasons, but his performance in leading the team is too poor and he has never led the team into the playoffs.

This year's Celtics, Walker and Pierce are called "Celtic Gemini" and have already faintly shown signs of revival.

On the evening of November 19, North Shore Garden Stadium!

The Celtics are worthy of being a "big family". Even though their record is not good in recent seasons, fans are still enthusiastic about entering the stadium, and the atmosphere is even more fanatical.

Perhaps in the eyes of fans, the Celtics are on the road to revival. In the first eight games, they have won the same 5-3 record as the Nets, and have hope to enter the playoffs this season.

After entering the stadium, Chi Liang was about to go to the visiting team's locker room with his teammates, but was surrounded by many reporters, and a bunch of long guns and short cannons were handed to him.

Chi Liang was a little confused about the reporters' actions, but then he thought of something.

"Congratulations, Chi Liang, you beat superstars such as Iverson and Garnett to win the POW of the week (player of the week). What do you think?" The espn reporter spoke first.

Last week, Chi Liang participated in three games in total and achieved three wins. Although the record is important, the player data is even more important.

1264737

In these three games, Chi Liang averaged 42 points, 15.7 assists, 12.3 rebounds, 2 steals, 2.1 blocks per game. In the face of such data, the data of other stars became foils, and all of them were overshadowed.

Chi Liang was naturally happy to be able to win the Best Rookie in Week. In order to deal with the reporters, he casually said a few thoughts, just thanking the league, team and teammates for their words.

After dealing with the enthusiastic reporter, Chi Liang came to the visiting team's locker room. His teammates naturally knew about this and congratulated Chi Liang one after another.

Soon after, the Nets began to play, and the stadium was filled with overwhelming booing. Celtic fans wanted to influence the status of Nets players as much as possible through booing and win.

Soon, it was the home team's turn to appear, and the voice changed again, from booing to cheering, and the fanatical atmosphere seemed to be about to overturn the ceiling of the stadium.

Before the game started, Chi Liang and Pierce exchanged greetings for a while. Both of them were rookies of the same year. Although their relationship was average, they also had certain connections.

Nets: center O'Neal Jr., power forward Chi Liang, small forward Newman, point guard Billups, point guard Armstrong.

Celtics: center Vitalie Potapanko, power forward Walker, small forward Pierce, point guard Adrian Griffin, point guard Kenny Anderson.

Needless to say, Walker and Pierce are Ukrainian nationality and Griffin is a non-draft player. Their strength is relatively limited and there is nothing to introduce.

The most famous one is Kenny Anderson. Although this guy is only 183 cm tall, he has many honors before the draft. During his high school career, he was named an All-American All-Star player by Parade Magazine three times. He is also a McDonald's All-Star, Gatorade's High School Player of the Year, the New York State Sports Writers Association, and the New York State Basketball Mr. selected by the New York Coach League. He was also selected as Parade, Naismith and the United States of America's Best Player of the Year.

In the 1991 draft, Anderson participated in the draft with a comprehensive data averaged 25.95.75.9 in the last season of college, and was eventually won by the Nets with the second pick. He was the youngest player in the league in that era.

In the 1993-94 season, Anderson averaged 18.8 points and 9.6 assists per game. Such a wonderful performance made him selected as the 1994 All-Star.

That is to say, the Celtics are almost equivalent to having three All-Star players.

In order to deal with Anderson, Coach Rivers chose Armstrong as the starter. Both of them were flexible small players and easier to deal with each other.

Judging from the lineup, the Nets have the upper hand, but due to the short-term reconstruction, they are not as good as the Celtics in terms of running-in. In addition, this is the home court of the Celtics, so the gap is not very big.

However, on the Nets' bench, Cage, Kidders, Mageti and Williams were still sitting steadily. The substitutes were obviously stronger than the Celtics and they must have a greater chance of winning.

Soon, under the referee's organization, we began to enter the jumping ball stage.

No surprises, O'Neal Jr. easily grabbed the ball with his height and arm length.

The Nets launched the offensive first. Armstrong passed the ball with the ball and saw that there was no chance, so he passed the ball to Chi Liang who was stuck in the position.

Walker is slightly fat, but he is quite flexible. With excellent physical confrontation and feel, he has a strong deterrence in offense, but defense is his biggest weakness. As an All-Star player, he has never had more than 1 block per game, and the most outstanding one is rebounding ability. He has good positioning when grabbing rebounds. Relying on his slightly obese body, he has certain advantages when competing.

Facing Walker's defense, Chi Liang used his steps to easily break through the opponent, easily hitting the ball into the basket after breaking into the penalty area.

After the offense and defense transition, Walker ran outside the three-point line. This guy has a variety of offensive methods and a wide view of passing the ball, but now he likes to shoot three-pointers indiscriminately.

Chi Liang had to follow him. He followed him very closely. Seeing that there was no chance to shoot a three-pointer, Walker immediately passed the ball to Anderson and then ran to the penalty area.

Soon, Anderson passed the ball back, and at the front of the penalty area, Walker took a low post and hit the ball. He had 111 kilograms, and his weight seemed to be different from that of the pool, so he naturally did not take any advantage.

After finding that Chi Liang could not push, Walker immediately changed his playing style, used the conversion of his footsteps to widen the shooting distance, and made a jump shot.

Chi Liang was helpless in this goal. He had already defended well, but Walker's offensive ability was quite outstanding, and he was relatively passive on the defensive end, so it was difficult to completely limit the opponent.

The two teams have their own advantages, especially in the starting lineup, and have a good feel, which also led to the scores of both sides starting to rise.
