Chapter 178 Yakov's new job

Sokov felt very pleased when he heard Yakov call him, and this "old friend" who showed that he always kept his life-saving grace in mind.
After the two hugged each other, Sokov asked tentatively: "Yakov, what did you just say? Are you here to pick me up?"
"You are not the only one I want to pick up." Yakov pointed at the staff officer standing behind Sokov, and said with a smile: "I'm here to pick you two." After that, he pointed to the open door with his finger, "Misha, get in the car."
After Sokov got into the car through the open door, Yakov said to the staff officer: "Captain, you can sit in the passenger seat." After the other party nodded and confirmed, he bent over and entered the car and closed the door casually.
Yakov and other staff members sat down, closed the car door, and ordered the driver: "Comrade Driver, drive!"
After the car started, Sokov looked at the strange scenery outside and asked Yakov curiously: "Yakov, where are you going to take us?"
Regarding Sokov's question, Yakov smiled and said, "You will know when you get to the place."
After driving for more than half an hour, an area surrounded by a wall appeared on the side of the road. Sokov judged from the barbed wire on the wall and the soldiers patrolling military dogs outside the wall that this must be an important place.
When the car arrived at the gate, Sokov saw that the vigilance was even more severe. In addition to the dozen soldiers standing guard, the entrance was filled with wooden shelves with barbed wire. There were sandbags on both sides of the door, and a Maxim heavy machine gun was installed inside. Seeing this, Sokov thought that if the German army did not have the cover of tanks and armored vehicles, if they wanted to rush in, they would inevitably be everywhere in front of the machine gun position.
An officer on duty came to the car and said in a business manner: "Please show your documents!"
Hearing the officer say this, Yakov and the driver both took out their documents and handed them over. Sokov, based on his own feelings, thought that the officer should know Yakov, but he carefully looked at Yakov's ID several times. Finally, after handing the ID back, he rushed to Sokov and the staff member who were sitting in the car, raised their chin and asked, "Captain, do they have any certificates for entry and exit?"
"No." Yakov answered very simply, "but they were guests invited by the people's committee members."
When the officer heard Yakov say this, he nodded, then stood up straight and took a step back, raised his hand to salute the car, turned around and instructed the soldiers standing at the door: "Turn off the roadblock, open the door, and let the car in."
The car drove into the gate and drove forward for a few minutes. Finally, it came to a building with a disguised net and stopped. As soon as Yakov waited for the car to stop, he turned his head and said to Sokov, "Misha, we're here."
The three got out of the car, underwent some inspection at the entrance, and handed over the weapons they carried with them, and finally walked into the building. As Sokov followed Yakov along the corridor, he couldn't help but ask in a low voice: "Yakov, where are you bringing us?"
"Comrade Major." The staff officer behind the two interrupted, "This should be an important ordnance research and development or production enterprise under the jurisdiction of the National Defense Commission. If I was not wrong, the person the Captain intends to take us to meet is the People's Committee of the Weapons and Equipment Commission."
When Yakov heard the staff officer say this, he couldn't help but widen his eyes in surprise. He asked in surprise: "Comrade Captain, how did you know?"
The staff officer smiled at him, patted the briefcase under his armpit with his hand, and then replied politely: "Comrade Captain, I was ordered to come here to report to the People's Committee."
Hearing the answer between Yakov and the staff, Sokov was a little embarrassed, thinking that his superiors sent me to escort Rokosovsky to the military hospital in Moscow, but he didn't ask me to report any work to the people's committee member who managed weapons and equipment? He was considering whether to find an excuse to ask Yakov to send him out, Yakov had stopped and turned to Sokov and the staff and said, "We're here!"
The People's Committee member's office is two inside and outside, and a major sat in the outer office. Seeing Yakov coming in from outside, he quickly got up and asked with a smile: "Yakov, you are back. Have you received it?"
"Received." Yakov nodded, turned around and pointed at Sokov and his staff officer, and said, "They are."
When the major saw Sokov and his staff standing side by side, he couldn't help but frown. He said to Yakov: "Yakov, I have received the order that only one person has reported to the people's committee member today. Why are two people now appearing?"
"Comrade Major, the order I received was to go to the airport to get Major Sokov and his companions here." Yakov shrugged and said to the major: "Maybe the superior has temporarily changed the plan and has not yet informed you."
The staff officer who came with Sokov quickly took two steps forward and said to the major: "Comrade Major, I am the staff officer of the 16th Army. I am ordered to report to the people's committee members on the use of front-line equipment."
After the staff member finished speaking, the major raised his hand and scratched the back of his head and said in embarrassment: "Captain, please wait for a moment. I will call the People's Committee for instructions." After that, he picked up the phone in front of him, and after a moment of silence, he said to the microphone, "Comrade of the People's Committee, Captain Yakov brought back two officers, one of whom claimed to be from the 16th Army, saying that he was reporting to you about the use of front-line weapons and equipment... I understand, I will let him in immediately!"
After putting down the phone, the major politely said to the staff officer: "Comrade Captain, please come with me, the People's Committee member is waiting for you." After he sent the staff officer into the People's Committee member's office, he turned around and faced Yakov and Sokov, pointed to the couch on one side, and said politely: "It may take a long time for the captain to report the situation. You can sit there and rest for a while."
After sitting down on the sofa with Yakov, Sokov asked curiously: "Yakov, can I ask, what job are you doing now?"
"Didn't you see it?" Yakov said with a smile on his face: "I work in the Weapons and Equipment Committee."
ā€œIā€™m asking about the specific work.ā€
"Responsible for the development and development of new artillery, so as to create various new and more complete artillery necessary for the frontline."
After Sokov finished speaking, he asked curiously: "Yakov, weren't you a tank soldier before? Logically speaking, it is the most appropriate for you to study new tanks."
Unexpectedly, as soon as Sokov finished speaking, he saw Yakov looking at him in surprise. He thought there was something on his face, so he quickly reached out and wiped it, asking, "Is there something on my face?"
Yakov waved his hand and asked back, "Who told you that I was a tank soldier?"
"Aren't you in the Tank Division before?" Sokov didn't expect Yakov to ask, and replied in a panic: "The second lieutenant who informed me of your whereabouts is also a tank soldier."
