Chapter 371: Catching the Spy

Selyosha took the fake major to another room and immediately started the interrogation. But no matter what Selyosha asked, the other party remained silent without saying a word. Selyosha thought for a while, then called a soldier and said to him, "Call Sergeant Samoilov here."
Sergeant Samoilov was the sergeant who guarded the warehouse of the Ministry of Internal Affairs that Sokov brought back when he was the chief of staff of the Southern Cluster. After returning to Mamayev, Sokov fulfilled his promise and not only appointed him as the platoon leader of the third guard platoon, but also promoted his military rank from sergeant to sergeant.
When Samoilov heard the warrior saying that Seryosha had something to do with him, he felt quite surprised. Although he was brought back by the brigade commander himself, the company commander has always been serious about him. Even when he reported to him, he looked like he ignored him. Why did he suddenly send someone to call him today?
Samoilov followed the soldiers to the room where Seriosha was located with this question. He quickly walked to Seriosha, stood attentively and raised his hand to salute: "Comrade Commander, the third platoon leader Samoilov was ordered to come, please give instruct!"
"Comrade Sergeant, I have an important task to ask you today and I will give it to you to complete." Before Samoilov asked what the task was, Selyosha had already pointed to the middle of the room with his hand: "It is to take out useful information from his mouth."
Samoilov turned his head and saw an officer with the rank of major sitting in the middle of the room. Behind him were two soldiers holding submachine guns. Seeing this, Samoilov asked curiously: "Comrade Commander, who is he? Is he a deserter?" There was a reason for him to ask this question. After the Soviet army retreated step by step and many troops were defeated, not only soldiers but also many officers fleeing, but school-level officers were rarely seen.
"He is not a deserter." Seryosha replied: "He is a German disguised as the commander of our army. Your mission is to take out useful information from his mouth."
"Comrade Commander, please give me half an hour." After figuring out what mission Seryosha had assigned him, Samoilov couldn't help but smile. As a former member of the internal affairs force, interrogation was his best job. Therefore, he said confidently: "I will definitely ask him to confess even the matter of wetting the bed when he was a child."
"Okay, I'll give you half an hour." Selyosha knew that the Ministry of Internal Affairs interrogated the prisoner and had his own set, otherwise he would not have called Samoilov to help him. He nodded in agreement and asked, "Is there anything I can help you?"
"Please call my original subordinates over here." Samoilov looked at the fake major sitting in the middle of the room and said coldly: "I need their assistance."
Selyosha was not interested in seeing how Samoilov interrogated the prisoners. As soon as the other party's old subordinate arrived, he left the room with the two soldiers who were guarding the prisoners. He asked the two soldiers to guard the door, but he went to report to Sokov.
When Sokov saw Selyosha coming in from outside, he thought he was reporting the results of the trial to him, so he asked, "Comrade Lieutenant, how about it, have the Germans recruited them?"
"No." Seryosha shook his head and replied, "The German guy is very stubborn and refuses to say anything."
"Comrade Brigade Commander," Sidolin immediately suggested to Sokov: "I think it's better to send him to the Army Command, where there are institutions dedicated to dealing with German spies. I believe they can ask something from the mouths of the two captives."
Sokov was not willing to call out the spies caught in his command, so he said to Cydolin: "Comrade Chief of Staff, you cannot hand them over for the time being. In my opinion, they are definitely more than two of them, and they must have accomplices hiding nearby. If these hidden enemies are not eliminated, once the war is fierce, they will destroy them in the rear, which will make us anxious."
"But, Comrade Brigade Commander." Seeing that Sokov was unwilling to hand over the people to the Army Command, Cidolin said anxiously: "If the prisoners have not confessed, we still cannot know where the remaining enemies are hiding. I think, I should call the Army Command and ask Commander Cui Kev to send comrades from the enemy engineering department to help us interrogate."
Sokov couldn't help but feel a little moved by Sidolin's proposal. If he could get help from the enemy engineering department, he might be able to take out some useful information from the captain's mouth. Just when he was about to agree, he saw that Selyosha was still standing in front of him, and asked angrily: "Comrade Lieutenant, what are you still standing here for?"
"Comrade Brigade Commander." Selyosha said hesitantly: "Maybe we can get the information we want from the captains without the help of the enemy engineering department."
"Comrade Lieutenant, didn't you just say that the captives would not say anything?" Hearing Selyosha's words, Cidolin asked back with some displeasure: "Then please tell me how you can get the information we need from the mouth of the enemy?"
"Comrade Chief of Staff," said Sergeisha with courage: "Although I could not ask anything from the captives, it is Sergeant Samoilov who is conducting the interrogation, and I believe he will definitely be able to confess to the Germans."
"Sergeant Samoilov?" Sidolin was stunned when he heard the name, and then asked back: "Lieutenant Seryosha, who is he? Do you know how to interrogate the prisoners?"
Sokov felt that the name was very familiar. After thinking for a while, he remembered that it was the sergeant of the Ministry of Internal Affairs he brought back, so he asked Selyosha tentatively: "Is it the sergeant I brought back?"
"Yes, comrade comrade commander." Seryosha replied with a smile: "He is now in questioning the captive with two subordinates. I believe that it will take no time to get the information we want."
"Comrade Brigade Commander, who are you talking about?" Sidolin couldn't help but ask in surprise when he heard the other party between Sokov and Selyosha: "He really has such great ability to interrogate the information we need?"
"Yes, Comrade Chief of Staff, I think he should be able to do it." Sokov nodded and said, "The Sergeant Samoilov we are talking about is originally affiliated with the internal affairs force. He must have a unique side in interrogation. I believe that no matter how stubborn the German prisoner is handed over to him, he can ask for the information we want."
Although Cidolin was still half-believing about Sokov's statement, he could only treat the death as a living person. He nodded and said, "Well, since you are so confident in this Sergeant Samoilov, then we will wait for another half an hour. If the time comes, and before he could ask for the information we wanted to know, he could only send the prisoners to the Army Command and let the comrades from the enemy engineering department interrogate him."
"Lt. Seryosha, go back and stare at Sergeant Samoilov. If he asks the Germans to confess, come back and report to me immediately." After Seryosha received the order and was about to turn and leave, Sokov called him again: "Wait a minute, you gather the troops first. Once you have the hiding place for the rest of the Germans, you must immediately take people to catch them all."
"Comrade Brigade Commander, have you forgotten?" Sheryosha heard this order and quickly reminded Sokov: "You have issued two orders, one is to bring people to the near dock to maintain order to ensure that the Front Command can cross the river safely. After this order was cancelled, you ordered me to gather the troops and prepare to search in nearby settlements to check whether there are German spies and our army's deserters..."
Less than ten minutes after Selyosha left, he hurried in and said excitedly: "Comrade Brigade Commander, the captive confessed."
"I confessed, it's so good." Sokov was overjoyed when he heard the news and asked quickly: "What did he call?"
"Their operation team has a total of seven people." Seryosha replied: "They disguised themselves as our army and issued us a false order to retreat. Once our army began to retreat, the Germans hidden in the settlements would notify the German troops in the distance by telegram and let them drive over to receive our defense zone."
"The German spies are indeed hiding in the settlement," Sokov asked after confirming his conjecture: "Do you know their specific location?"
Seryosha put a quick sketch on the table, pointed to a rectangle above and said, "This is a building that was blown up by German planes, and the remaining Germans hid in the basement inside."
"Is the news reliable?" Cidolin asked first before Sokov could speak.
"It should be reliable." Sergeant Sergeant Samoilov said, "I believe in the interrogation ability of Sergeant Samoilov, and the captives should not tell lies."
"Since you already know where the enemy is, take action immediately." Sokov urged: "Lieutenant Selyosci, immediately lead the guards to surround the building, and no enemy is allowed to let go. Those who are alive cannot be caught, and those who are dead must."
"Comrade Brigade Commander, if you want to catch these cunning German spies, it may not be enough to just have a guard company." Sidolin reminded Sokov: "Do you see if you can draw other troops to cooperate?"
The guard company of the infantry brigade was a reinforced company, with more than 200 people in the entire company. Sokov originally felt that he was a bit like killing a chicken and using a ox knife, but when he heard what Cidolin said, he felt that for the sake of being safe, he decided to draw another unit to cooperate with the guard company. So he called the Third Battalion and asked the battalion commander Captain Andre to come and accept the combat order.
Andrei has been following Sokov recently and knew that it would be no small matter to call him, so before coming to the brigade headquarters, he notified the entire battalion to gather urgently and be ready to perform new tasks at any time. He came to the command center, saluted Sokov and asked, "Comrade Brigade Commander, do you have any instructions?"
"Comrade Captain, this is the case. In the residential area near us, there is a German spy team. Two of them came to us as officers from the Front Command and sent false orders, which had been arrested by us. According to their confession, the remaining spies were hiding in the basement of this building." Sokov pointed to the sketch and assigned a task to Andre: "The mission of your battalion is to serve as an external guard to prevent the enemy from escaping. As for the search mission in the building, it will be completed by Selyosha's guard company."
After the battle some time ago, the Third Battalion had more than 500 people left in the company, including the wounded. Because this mission was very important, the wounded did not participate, but there were still as many as 400 people participating in the operation. The Third Battalion and the Guard Company had more than 600 people. So many people flocked into the settlement and were immediately discovered by the spies hiding in the ruins. He quickly issued an alarm to the people hiding in the basement.
At the beginning, the spy team leader thought that the Soviet army would not notice the destroyed building. Unexpectedly, after seeing the Soviet army enter the settlement, they immediately surrounded his location. Then a group of live ammunition soldiers rushed into the building and headed straight to the basement. He realized something was wrong and quickly ordered the radio operator to send a report to notify the military of the exposed news.
There are only two units in the building, and each unit has a basement under it. The soldiers of the guard company rushed into the building in two directions. The spy who served as the guards had a submachine gun in his hand, but as soon as he fired two points, he was blown up by the grenade thrown by the guard company soldiers and was completely unrecognizable. After killing the guard post, the soldiers rushed up in a swarm and continued to rush towards the basement.
The spies in the basement did not expect the Soviet army to come so quickly. Before the radio operator could send a telegram to the police, the soldiers rushed in. After a round of shooting, the spy team leader and two other spies were shot dead on the spot. Seeing that the situation was not good, the radio operator raised his hand obediently to be a prisoner.
As the company commander of the guard company, Selyosha did not rush into the building like the soldiers, but instead found a hidden place outside the building to command the battle. After hearing a fierce gunfire and a few explosions, everything calmed down. He knew that the battle inside had ended, so he walked out of his hiding place, stood outside the building, waiting for the soldiers inside to come out to report the results of the battle to him.
Sergeant Samoilov, with the soldiers of the third platoon, escorted the captured radio operator and carried the bodies of the beaten spies, and walked out of the building. Seeing Seryosha standing outside the building, Samoilov hurriedly trotted over and reported to him: "Comrade Commander, Sergeant Samoilov, the commander of the third platoon, reported to you that our platoon successfully killed four German spies, captured one alive, and seized a radio station."
