Chapter 335 Donkeys, Dogs and Rabbits

Before the sound fell, all five rifles were aimed at the sounding bushes. Although they heard Chinese, the soldiers did not relax at all. After all, they had just discussed the topic of spies, and maybe the person hiding in the bushes had already found the pistol and grenade, and they were waiting for them to relax their vigilance and take the bait.

"Come out! Hold your hands high!"

The squad leader shouted, and used a little force to pull the trigger with his finger. Even if he was suddenly shot, he could use his last nerve reaction to pull the trigger and give the enemy a reward.

The soldiers behind the squad leader stood faintly in a fan shape, five veterans and five rifles. If the people in the bushes had any bad intentions, they would not be able to fly out even if they had wings.

However, this time their caution and concern seemed a little unnecessary. The bushes that were aimed at swayed a few times, and a thin boy emerged from it. Then another thin boy, a shorter head shorter than the first one, and then a girl with pigtails. She was only half taller and was obviously very young.

Only then did the warriors realize that the movement on the hillside that made them face a great enemy was actually made by three children.

"What are you doing?"

Although there were three children, the squad leader still squeezed out a fierce expression and asked viciously. After all, it was a bit weird that three and a half-year-old children appeared near the Japanese pontoon bridge that had just ended a battle, and it was hard not to remind people of some bad things.

"Old, boss, don't kill us, we have no money..."

The oldest boy among the three children answered timidly, his legs trembled like sieve crumbs, and his hands tightly grasped the corners of his dirty clothes, which made the corners of his clothes deformed.

Two younger children hid behind the boy, grabbed the clothes on the back of the boy and dared not show their heads. However, the boy's thin figure still couldn't stop the two children. The soldiers could still see the dirty clothes and weak bodies on the two children.

"I'm not a bandit, why do you want money?" The squad leader moved his gun a little, and still looked fierce.

The boy was startled again and quickly replied: "I, I am a farmer, my family lives in the village here..."

"Farmers? If farmers don't farm well, what are they doing when they run to the riverside to fight? I think you are a Japanese spy!" The squad leader raised his rifle and acted as he poked the boy's chest with the gun.

The boy was completely frightened and knelt on the ground with a thump, crying with tears in his eyes: "Boss, boss, boss, please spare your life. We are really farmers, we are still children, not Japanese spies, the boss is kind to you."

"At noon the day before yesterday, many Japanese devils who were riding a big cart went to our village. At that time, I took my younger brother and sister to the mountain to deliver food to my grandfather. My grandfather heard that there were Japanese devils coming to the village. I was worried that my mother would not be safe at home, so I asked me to take my younger brother and sister to hide on the mountain. He went down the mountain to see, and he would not let us go home if he didn't come to find us."

"Later, I don't know what happened, and the village was shooting and fired. Later, the village caught fire. It was so big that my grandfather never came. We were afraid and dared not go back to the village. We kept hiding in the mountain. We finished all the food we brought and hid for more than a day.

My younger brother and sister said they were hungry, so I wanted to bring them to the riverside to drink some water, but before I could even get there, I saw the Japanese devils building bridges here and shooting guns. We didn’t dare to move, so we hid on the mountain, trying to wait until we finished shooting and sneaked back to the village to take a look. As soon as we left, we were discovered by the boss."

"We are really not spies, boss, please be kind and let us go."

The boy knelt on the ground, crying while telling his experience. His two young brothers and sisters knelt behind the boy, lowered their heads and dared not speak, but their bodies were still thrusting and probably were crying.

After listening to the boy's story, the squad leader finally put down his gun. He waved his hand and signaled the other soldiers to put away their weapons, so that they should not scare the miserable children again:

"Okay, it's okay, you guys get up, don't be afraid."

But the three children still knelt on the ground and sobbed, and didn't even dare to raise their heads.

No wonder they were pointed at by five vicious soldiers with guns, and the black muzzle was almost poked into their chests. Even an adult had to have weak legs. The three little kids had never seen this scene. They were not scared to faint and could speak.

Seeing that they did not move, the squad leader sighed, carried the rifle behind him, and took the step forward to help the thin boy up: "Get up, kid, don't be afraid."

He helped the boy up, the squad leader tilted his head slightly, showed the boy the blue sky and white sun emblem on the side of his helmet, and then pressed the boy's shoulder and explained:

"Look, we are the National Revolutionary Army, the Chinese army. We are fighting the Japanese devils. We just shot the gun and we were cleaning up the Japanese devils who built the bridge. Now the Japanese devils have been beaten away, don't be afraid."

After hearing the squad leader explain to the boy seriously, a soldier behind couldn't help but whisper: "Squad leader, I think he was scared by you, not by the Japanese."

"Go to you, are you that scary?" The squad leader turned his head and cursed, but he clearly felt the boy's shoulders tremble again in his hand, and he couldn't help but smile bitterly.

"Soybeans, do you still have something to eat there? Give these children some some fried soybeans."

"I said that my name is Huangdu, not soybeans!" The soldier who had just spoken muttered and took off the dry food bag from his body, poured out a handful of fried soybeans and put them in his palm.

"Then you eat less soybeans. You fart soybeans all day long and you won't tell us to talk about you," another soldier quipped.

"Gogun!" Huang Du glared at the soldier who was joking about him, walked to the squad leader and put the fried soybeans in the palm of the boy's hand: "Come on, kid, don't listen to them talking nonsense, eat some soybeans and don't fart."

The boy held the soybeans in both hands, looked at the squad leader who tried to make a smile, then looked at Huangdu who gave him soybeans, swallowed, and turned around and distributed half of the fried soybeans in his hand to his two young brothers and sisters.

"Brother, sister, this is given by the boss, eat slowly."

The two children took the fried soybeans and their eyes lit up. They didn't care about talking. They stuffed their mouths all over, which made Huang and the squad leader frown.

"Eat slowly, eat slowly, don't choke, chew it and then swallow it." Huang couldn't help but remind.

Seeing that the young man gave all the soybeans to his younger brother and sister, and he didn't leave a single one, the squad leader asked curiously: "Why don't you eat it?"

"I, I'm not hungry." The boy replied evasively, but his little gesture of swallowing secretly could not hide the soldiers with the sharp eyes. Huang sighed, and poured half of the soybeans out of the dry food bag and stuffed them to the boy.

"Eat, I'm just so much, I won't have to ask for it anymore."

After the boy finished eating voraciously, the squad leader remembered to ask the boy's name.

"Boss, my grandfather and mother call me a donkey. This is my brother's dog and my sister's rabbit."

The boy licked the soybean residue in his mouth while answering seriously.
