Chapter 22 Going to North Africa (3)

Alexandria, North Africa

This large harbor named by Alexander the Great in Macedonia has been one of the most important ports in North Africa since ancient times. However, after the baptism of "building war" in the late AD era, the world-famous ancient buildings and Egyptian sphinx have become ruins together. Now this prosperous harbor was just rebuilt in the CE era.

Not only has the population of the earth been reduced by half, but many of the famous cities of the past have also entered the trash cans of history. The damage left to natural people by S flu and the rebuilding of war is already great enough...

Three giant transport planes emerged from the sky and drove into the air base in the south of the city. When Rhodes took the officers out of the plane, they were immediately taken to meet the generals by a lieutenant from the Eurasian Federation.

Rhodes walked all the way to the command center, but observed the surrounding scenes. It has to be said that Alexander is quite peaceful, at least the soldiers are intact and the supplies are piled up like mountains. The soldiers coming and going also have a relaxed expression. This situation is not seen in Central and West Africa.

The group walked into the underground command room and were taken to the command department after the security inspection by the guards. However, even through the alloy iron gate, Rhode could vaguely hear the roar inside.

The lieutenant aggrievedly accused him and walked in first.

"What's wrong with you guess?" Rhode smiled and asked the officers beside him.

"No need to guess at all, there must be somewhere that was defeated." Klose replied seriously, immediately attracting laughter around him. Yes, from the start of the war, except for the first time the Earth Army in Victoria Harbor took some advantage, he has never won a battle. This cannot be blamed for ZAFT having weapons in the new era. On the contrary, the most fundamental problem is that the top leaders of the Earth United Army have been corrupted, making a group of regular troops unable to win even militias.

Just as everyone ridiculed the Earth Army, the lieutenant came out.

"Major General invites you in." He said.

Rhode nodded and walked in with everyone. As soon as he entered the door, he saw a major general, two colonels, and several lieutenant and majors waiting there. Needless to say, his attitude was always arrogant, as if the mercenary group was here to add icing on the cake.

The major general sitting in the middle is about 50 years old. He can be said to be fat and strong, with dark skin and unhealthy skin. His gray hair is also a "Mediterranean"-style structure that is always popular among middle-aged and elderly people. His eyes are blurred and his cheeks are loose. It makes people feel that it is a typical feature of excessive flesh color.

"You are the leader of the Silver Wolf Mercenary Group. I am the commander of the 33rd Army of the Earth United Army, Major General Frami Andnov." The major general copied English with a Russian accent, and his fat head was always raised proudly, like a winner.

Seeing that the other party had no intention of shaking hands, Rhode briefly introduced himself and then introduced the many officers beside him. In fact, this major general is a true example. When he was serving in the 7th Armored Division, this guy was the division commander and has always been a typical case of a lounge meal bag. He couldn't figure out why the senior executives of the Earth Army sent this guy to be the commander of North Africa.

"Captain Rhode..." The major general raised his tone and did not call Rhode the regiment commander, as if the title of Captain could better reflect his major general's rank. "Our Navy encountered ZAFT maritime power in the Casablan waters. After a heroic battle, he was defeated by the enemy's superior forces and weapons. Therefore, North Africa may be attacked by the coordinator at any time..." The major general began to talk endlessly about the bravery of the navy.

Rhodes automatically filtered out the long-term discussion, that is, he understood that the huge Mediterranean fleet of the Eurasian Federation was over, what are the superior forces and weapons? Isn't that nonsense? Are those earth warships all civilian cruise ships? But he still had to praise Major General Andnov's calmness. His retreat was cut off and he had no supply. He could be so calm. It seems that he was a good general.

"So, in this case, our North African Command decided to let your Silver Wolf Mercenary Group join the glorious North African Expeditionary Force for defensive missions." The major general finally said the key point.

"Yes, but according to the contract, we have a 60 million battle fee and absolute freedom of movement." Rhodes is a businessman, of course he has to talk about money, and he doesn't want the troops to be treated as firefighters or cannon fodder by the Earth Army, so absolute freedom of movement must be guaranteed.

"Of course, I can guarantee all these." Anyway, the money is not from the major general's family, so he agreed very happily. As for freedom of movement, the mercenary group is a special combat purpose, so it is done in minutes for the small force to go to the front battlefield.

The two sides agreed on the details again, and the major general was impatient to let the previous lieutenant take Rhodes and others away. The garrison and logistics supply supply Earth Army would be responsible. Anyway, the mercenary group just took money and carried guns to battle.

The lieutenant who led the way along the way was polite, so Rhodes made it easier for the guy to chat.

"Casablan lost, what's the result?"

The lieutenant stared at Rhodes. Considering that this was not a military secret, of course he didn't need to use the propaganda department to fool the latter. He smiled bitterly: "I'm defeated, and the Mediterranean Fleet can't count on it anymore. They all retreated back to the port of Marseille."

"Marseille? That's really far away." Rhodes also smiled bitterly. It seemed that the defeat was still completely defeated. The combined fleet composed of France, Italy and Spain seemed to have been beaten to the end of the entire army. In just a few years, it was really impossible to recover its vitality.

"Where is the Sixth Fleet of the Atlantic Federation? I remember that they seem to be stationed on Cyprus."

"They?" the lieutenant sneered, "I guess I'll be basking in the sun there, and the warships are all old goods, so they can only be used as medals for the coordinator." After the war was constructed, the Sixth Fleet was greatly weakened, and after the Pacific Fleet Capantania was defeated, many ships were transferred to the Pacific Ocean.

Rhode was speechless. In his past, he remembered that the three major forces of the Earth Army were defeated. It seemed that the only main force still existed is the ocean-going fleet of the Republic of East Asia, but the latter was already in a difficult position to defend Kaohsiung.

Because of the depressed situation, the lieutenant was not very interested, so he finally brought Rhodes and others to the garrison, took the list of supplies and went to do business. It seemed that Casablan's defeat had spread. Rhodes could no longer see the calmness of coming on the road. A group of officers and soldiers looked solemn, and fighter planes kept taking off on the runway in the distance.

"Fortunately, the morale of these masters has not collapsed yet." Rhode said to Klose on the side.

"It's just a little bit. A big defeat will allow them to enter the prisoner-of-war camp." Klose, a veteran soldier, replied.

"Don't say that, the soldiers of the Eurasian Federation are still very good at fighting." George, who was walking behind, intervened and defended. He had already been promoted to the commander of the Second Team of the Combat Team at this time.

"I can only know if I can fight on the battlefield." Rhodes thought of the colonel he had seen in Central Africa before, and couldn't help but expect it, but he also thought of Major General Andrew's disgusting face, and this expectation was diluted a lot.

The Mercenary Corps' resident was arranged on a hill away from the airport. After Rhode returned, he discussed with Brandt the solution to GINN's unfavorable battle in the desert, and finally went to bed late at night.

The night in North Africa was very quiet, and there was no other sound except the sound of the whistling fighter planes, but this silence only lasted until after 3 o'clock in the evening. A sharp alarm woke up the entire Alexandria, and then a deafening explosion sounded after a few minutes.

Rhodes hurriedly put on his clothes and ran out of the room, but saw a beautiful scene - the brilliant fire ignited Alexandria, countless glittering bombs and air defense missiles rose into the air, and then airborne boats fell from the sky. The entire city was filled with flames and explosions.
