Chapter 21 Compound Decoction(1/2)

Section 1

At Malfoy Manor, Lucius sat on the sofa by the fireplace reading the letter in his hand, frowned, looking a little worried.

"What's wrong, Lucius?" Lucius's wife, Narcisa, came over and asked gently, "You don't look good, what's wrong?"

Lucius shook his head and smiled comfortingly, "Don't worry, my dear," he looked at his wife's beautiful face, "It's just a little accident."

Narcissa looked into his eyes, and after a long time, she said, "Don't lie to me, Lucius, you have been not good at lying in front of me since you were in school." She sat next to him, next to him, "Dear, you have something to worry about, tell me, don't always carry it alone."

Lucius looked at Narcisa and showed a slightly bitter smile...

Soren's departure had a great impact on Harry, which made him feel depressed all day long and looked gloomy. Ron and Hermione were very worried about this. The students no longer pointed at Harry - Ernie, who was petrified by Soren, was an example. There were many statements among students about Soren's departure. The most popular one was: Soren was the heir of Slytherin. After he committed several attacks, he killed Ernie who discovered his flaws. Finally, he knocked out the person who came to arrest him and ran away.

Harry was angry about this. At this moment, he really hoped that he would be the heir so that he could kill the people who spread rumors. Isabella was just as angry as Harry. In fact, almost all the Slytherins remained silent about Sauron's affairs. Isabella hated those students who said bad things behind their backs. Several times, Isabella almost cast a spell on those students.

Gidro Lockhart seemed to be very excited, and more than once he hinted to people that he had known Sauron was suspected, and Sauron's departure was due to his fear of the powerful and righteousness. Of course, because of Harry, he also expressed his regret for not being able to pull Sauron back from the evil road. In this regard, Harry and Ron were extremely disgusted with Lockhart, while Isabella was furious-

"Let me go, Ibikos, I want to teach that idiot a lesson." Isabella said angrily to Ibikos who was pulling her with a wand in her hand.

"It makes no sense." Ibikos said relaxedly, "let him brag."

"He is insulting His Highness," Isabella glared at Ibikos, "How can that clown allow that kind of clown to comment on His Highness Sauron."

Ibikos shook his head, "Even if Sauron is here, I will not want you to rush up and chant a spell to a teacher. It is meaningless and will only make us more passive." He said seriously, "Be mature, Isabella, don't let Your Highness down."

It was dawn of Christmas, and the weather was cold and it was covered with all around. Harry and Ron were the only ones left in the Gryffindor dormitory. Early in the morning, they were woken up by Hermione. She was dressed neatly and held a gift for them in her arms.

"Wake up." She said loudly, pulling the curtains up.

"Hermione-you shouldn't be here," Ron said, covering his eyes with his hands and blocking the light.

"Merry Christmas," said Hermione, throwing his gift to him. "I've been up for almost an hour and added some more grass worms to the decoction. It's already boiled."

Harry sat up and rubbed his face hard, but he woke up as soon as possible, and he looked at Hermione seriously.

"Can you be sure?"

"Absolutely," said Hermione, shifting the rat-spotted sideways and sitting down by Harry's four-poster bed. "If we were to act, I think it should be tonight." She looked at Harry and hesitated for a moment. "Harry, if—I mean, if it wasn't for Malfoy, or if the secret room was really related to Sauron, what should we do."

Harry frowned and said gloomyly, "Even if he is accusing Malfoy, I will help Sauron clear the charge."

Ron curled his lips, while Hermione widened her eyes as if she had known Harry on the first day.

"But, Harry..." She looked complicated, "You know that wouldn't work..."

"I don't care!" Harry was a little excited. "My brother is charged with crimes and is now missing. He is probably still wanted by the Ministry of Magic. What should you do if you ask me to do?"

A wave of embarrassing silence.

At this moment, Hedwig flew into the room with a small package in his mouth. After it landed on Harry's bed, he gently bit his ears in a very affectionate way. The greeting was much more precious than the gift it brought to him. It turned out that the small package was brought by the Dursleys. They gave Harry a toothpick and a text message, asking him to call him to try it out, could he stay in Hogwarts for the summer vacation.

Let's see what gifts we have received, Ron said, breaking the deadlock.

Harry walked out of bed and looked at his gifts: Hagrid gave him a large bag of creamy gummy, Harry decided to put it by the fire and bake it before eating; Ron gave him a book called "Flying with the Artillery", which talked about some of his favorite Quidditch things; Hermione bought him a luxurious quill, a brand new hand-knitted sweater given to him by Mrs. Weasley, and a large raisin cake. Harry opened the last gift, which was sent by Sauron - a new pair of glasses, just like the original one, which made Harry feel a little strange.

"What is this, a pair of glasses?" Ron said, sitting next to Harry, "Who sent it?"

"Soren." Harry whispered.

"Soren? But didn't he leave?" Ron was surprised, "Did you say?"

"Don't be stupid." Hermione said angrily, "It was Sorren commissioned by Isabella." He looked at the two of them, "In other words, Sorren might have planned something before leaving..."

Harry and Ron looked at each other and said nothing.

"However, why did Sauron bring a pair of glasses?" Ron took the glasses from Harry's hand and fiddled with them.

"The letter said nothing, just said I was wearing it." Harry said as he looked at the attached letter, and then he couldn't help but think of the gift from Sauron last Christmas, the mysterious pendant hanging on his chest.

"Maybe there is magic on it, protecting it from breaking or something," Hermione said professionally. "If you want to figure it out, just leave it to Professor McGonagall."

Harry glanced at Hermione, took the glasses given by Sauron and replaced the original pair, "No need, my brother won't harm me."

At the Christmas dinner in Hogwarts, everyone ate with relish, including Harry and the other three who were going to take the compound decoction later.

The auditorium looked magnificent. Not only were there a dozen Christmas trees covered with silver frost, and thick bands of mistletoe and holly crossed on the ceiling, but also magically-pretended snow, warm and dry, falling gently from the ceiling. Dumbledore led them to sing a few of his favorite Christmas carols, and after Hagrid poured one cup after another of egg milk wine, his voice became louder and louder. Percy didn't notice that Fred had already cast magic, turning the words on his predecessor badge into "stupid melon", and he kept asking everyone what they were laughing at.

The front-end position on the Slytherin dining table was empty. Although Soren left, no Slytherin dared to sit in Soren's position. Draco Malfoy seemed particularly honest and no longer as usual, while Isabella had a gloomy face and was not very emotional.

After eating the third Christmas pudding, Harry, Ron and Hermione walked out of the auditorium to implement their plans for the night.

"We need something else about the people we want to become," Hermione said seriously. "If you can get something from Crabbe and Gal, it's the best; they are Malfoy's best friends, and he will tell them everything. We also need to make sure that when we interrogate Malfoy, the real Crabbe and Gal must not be allowed to break in.

"I've planned everything," she said in one breath, lifting up two chocolate cakes. "I put regular hypnotics in it. You just have to make sure that Crabbe and Gole discover them. You know how greedy their mouths are, and you will definitely eat them. As soon as they fall asleep, pull out a few of their hair and hide them in the broom cabinet." Harry and Ron looked at each other in disbelief.

"Hermione, I think that's a little disgusting," Ron said hesitantly, looking at Harry with help.

"The decoction would not work without Crab and Goll's hair," she said unshakable.

"That's it." Harry said firmly, "We must interrogate Malfoy, otherwise Sauron will not be able to remove the charge." He looked at Hermione, "But what do you do? Whose hair are you going to pull out?"

"Mine already!" Hermione said happily, taking out a small bottle from her pocket and showing them a hair inside. "Do you remember Millison wrestling with me in the duel club? She left this in my clothes when she tried to jamm my neck! She was back home for Christmas - I just told the Slytherins that I decided to come back again."

Hermione hurried to check the compound decoction again, and Ron turned to Harry with a look of disaster.

"Have you heard of any plan that may go wrong with so many links?"

However, the first phase of the action, as Hermione said, went very smoothly. After having Christmas refreshments, they sneaked into the empty foyer, waiting to stay alone on the Slytherin table, and ate the fourth sponge cake Crab and Goll. Harry had placed the chocolate cake by the railing. When he saw Crab and Goll walk out of the auditorium, Harry and Ron hurried behind a set of armor next to the main entrance.

"You guys are so stupid!" Ron said ecstatically. He saw Crab pointing happily at the cake for Gole, and then grabbed it in his hand. They grinned and stuffed the cake into their big mouths. For a moment, the two of them chewed greedily, with their faces appearing proud. Then, without seeing any change in their expressions, they turned back and fell on the floor.

The hardest thing to do was to hide them in the cabinet at the other end of the hall. However, after a moment, they finally stayed safely between the mop and the bucket. Harry hurriedly pulled off the two thick and hard short hairs on Gal's forehead, and Ron pulled out several of Crab's hair. They also stole Crab's shoes because their own shoes could not fit Crab's and Gal's big feet. Then, they rushed to the crying Myrtle's bathroom, still terrified by what they had just done.

Hermione was still stirring the crucible in the small room, and thick black smoke came out of the pot, making them almost invisible. Harry and Ron pulled their robes to cover their faces and knocked on the door gently.

"Hermione?"

They heard the door lock harshly for a while, Hermione appeared, her face shining and anxious. Behind her, they heard the bubbles, thick syrup-like decoctions were rumbling. Three flat glasses were already placed on the toilet seat.

"Have you got it?" Hermione asked holding her breath.

Harry showed her Gole's hair.

"Very good. I stole these changes from the laundry room," Hermione said, holding up a small cloth bag, "You need to wear large clothes after you become Crabble and Gole."

The three of them stared at the pot. They were getting closer, and the decoction looked like black and sticky mud, lazily bubbled.

"I believe every link I arranged is fine," Hermione said, nervously reading the stained page of "Power Potion". "It looks like the book says... After we drink it, it can be an hour before we can become ourselves."

"What should I do now?" Ron asked in a low voice.

"We divide it into three cups and add hair in."

Hermione used a long-handled spoon to scoop up the decoction and poured it into each glass. Then, her hands trembled, pouring Millison's hair out of the bottle into the first glass.

The decoction sounded like a pot of boiling water, and it was foaming vigorously. After a second, it turned into a gorgeous purple color.

"Oh-Millison's essence," Ron said, "looks good, but I guess it must be bad."

"Okay, add to yours," said Hermione.

Harry threw Goll's hair into the cup in the middle, and Ron put Crab's hair into the last cup. Both cups hissed, bubbled: Gol's turned into a tank-like earthy yellow, and Crab's turned into a dark dark brown.

Ron and Hermione reached for their cups. "Slow down," said Harry, "we'd better not drink them all here. Once we become Crabbe and Goll, we can't hold it here. Millison is not a tiny person either."

"It makes sense," Ron said, opening the door, "Let's take up a single room each."

Harry carefully prevented the compound decoction from spilling a drop, and slipped into the small single room in the middle.

"Are you ready?" he shouted.

"It's ready." The voices of Ron and Hermione came.

"one two three--"

The compound decoction tasted bad, and the transformation felt uncomfortable, as if after a long time, Harry walked out of the compartment, "You two are okay, are you?" Ha shouted in Goll's voice.

"It's okay." Crab's murmur came to his right.

Harry stood in front of the cracked mirror. Goll looked back at him with his dull, deep-sleeping eyes. Harry scratched his ears, and Goll did a good job.

Ron's door opened and they stared at each other. Ron was a replica of Crab, from his short pot-bottom hairstyle to his long gorilla-like arms, his face looked pale and frightened.

"It's incredible," Ron said, walking to the mirror and poking Crab's collapsed nose, "incredible."

Hermione's door opened, Harry and Ron looked over, with a look of surprise on their faces - it was not "Pancy Parkinson" but "Isabella" that came out of the room.

Hermione looked in the mirror and looked bitterly, "It must be a mistake. Isabella stuck her hair on me when she separated me and Pansy Parkinson."

"It's no big deal, isn't it?" Ron said. "Isabella is also Slytherin, and she has a good relationship with Sauron and the others."

"But Isabella didn't leave school, we'll probably meet her." Hermione rolled her eyes at Ron, "then we'll be all out of the way. You two, I'll stay and clean up the cauldron or something."

"Let's go," said Harry, as he let go of Gal's thick wrist watch. "We have to figure out where the Slytherin's common room is. I wish we could find someone to follow..." Ron kept staring at Harry, and said at this time: "You don't know how weird it is when you see Gal thinking."

...

Section 2

Harry and the others wanted to find a Slytherin to take them into the Slytherin common room, but they happened to meet Passi, but fortunately they met Draco.

"You are here," he looked at them, and said in a lengthened voice. "Did you both eat and drink in the auditorium? I've been looking for you all the time, and I want to show you something very fun."

Malfoy glanced at Percy aggressively.
