Chapter Nineteen When the stars return, the great beings will awaken
Corporal Pilolo moved his tied hand and pointed to a small object hanging between his neck. It was an object somewhat similar to the small sculpture Halandir had seen twice. It was carved from rocks, ugly and twisted, with deformed tentacles and weird wings.
"This is not an ordinary statue. Wearing it can enhance psychic energy and do many things that you can't even think of."
Halandil turned around and found that many of the prisoners who were walking silently were wearing strange ornaments. These objects were carved with teeth, bones, and rocks, and some were from wood and soil, with strange shapes.
"It's not the same as yours," said Halandir, "and you all did it yourself?"
Pilolo nodded with a slight smug look: "Only those selected who are fortunate to be watched by the Lord can touch His divine image and listen to the teachings, otherwise what is carved out is only some meaningless clumps."
He continued: "He is beyond the scope that we are inferior to the language of existence, and is not even understood by our shallow brains. He is tangible, like this stone statue, but tangible without materiality. When the stars are in the right position, He can travel around the world as he wishes, traveling between different worlds; but if the stars are in the wrong direction, He will lie in the temple of the abyss. The powerful force maintains the body, allowing the world beside him to flow through endless time, waiting for the stars to enter the right orbit again, and bring glorious rebirth to Him.
“When the stars return to their throne, the great being will awaken, and His body will walk on the earth again. Before this, He still had insight into everything, communicated directly with the hearts of his followers and talked to them, and delivered messages to the more spiritual groups of us in a dream-committed manner.
"In ancient times, those chosen were able to listen to the will of the great being through dreams. But then, variables occurred. The great being sank into the abyss with His kingdom of gods, along with the huge rocks and tombs in the city. It was filled with some original mysterious element, and even the thoughts could not penetrate, and the passage to the dream was far away from us. But memories never perished, and these were recorded in our Scriptures. It said that when the stars were in place, the great being would rise again and restore His authority on earth. At that time, the black demons would see the light of the sky again, like shadows and corruption, spreading the dark rumor from the forgotten abyss throughout the earth."
Pilolo continued to whisper:
"The priests said, "The Lord is awakening. He gives knowledge to the chosen ones to sacrifice with these idols at the core to connect with Him; His will and his limbs return to our world. When the stars return to the position, the moment will come will be known, because we will be liberated and blessed, free and unruly, transcend good and evil, roar and kill, indulge in pleasure, abandon the law and morality. The Lord will teach us to shout, fight, revel and enjoy in new ways, and the city of sin will be filled with lawless freedom. Before that, believers must preserve memories of ancient laws through corresponding rituals and secretly show their return prophecy.
"It is these statues, as long as you are selected, you can portray His image and be inspired by dreams."
After hearing this, Halandil found something strange. At first, the "He" in Pilolo's mouth was a "great existence", but later, he respected the god as "Master". He felt that this question was a bit boring, but he couldn't help asking:
"The great existence and master you are talking about are the same Majesty?"
"Of course," said Pilolo, "this is what the priests said in the sect's books."
Corporal Piloro kept talking along the way. His voice was very soft, and he only said to Halandil.
Filled with fragments, absurd and vain whispers lingered in Halandil's ears. Soon, he lost interest and did not want to continue listening.
After these cultists were brought back to Canaan, the official immediately organized the interrogation. In order to get the news as soon as possible, all investigators were arranged for interrogation, and even enthusiastic volunteers like Halandir were arranged.
Most cultists have poor minds, and many have long experiences of taking narcotics such as diazine. The pollution of evil doctrines has made them speechless and their intelligence degenerate to the same level as baboons. A few fresh-minded believers say something similar to Pilolo. They all mentioned a key message, that is, a noble existence is about to come, unlike the seven righteous gods respected by civilized races around the world. All cultists deny participating in the sacrificial sacrifices and vowed that the master's agents who took the lives of several believers were the masters. These evil monsters appeared in the forest, where they gathered and developed believers for eternity.
In addition, they also mentioned a message - Miss Aleya in the ritual center. The elves who sneaked in tried to spy on their ritual, but the rash and stolen ones were easily caught and used as a sacrifice.
How to use it... It sounds a bit... Halandir recalled the ceremony scene, and the elf lady surrounded by naked cultists on the yellow granite was blurred with eyes and thin clothes, as if her mind was taken away.
Just as Halandir was thinking about it, Pilottis came over and took him away from the interrogation room: "You go home first, the next investigation can only be participated by the formal investigator. There may be a curfew, don't go around."
The investigator's expression was very serious when he spoke, as if a disaster was coming. Halandil was stunned for a moment when he heard this, but soon realized: "Do you want to block the news?"
"Yes," said the investigator, "the clues already obtained show that this is a powerful evil force. Miss Aleya is not weak, but is easily captured. The superiors interrogated the priests of the cultists, used confessors and spiritual spells without any scruples, and finally confirmed that there is really an unfathomable danger outside the foolish and crazy believers.
"It is the dominant genius, perhaps a high-level extraordinary person of some rare path, or even a mythical creature. The cultist has never seen his body, only knowing that it is like a ball of black mist that can open the door to the dream. After Miss Aleya was discovered, she easily knocked down many cultists who wanted to catch her, but the monster destroyed her as soon as it appeared."
Halandir nodded repeatedly and said, "It sounds dangerous."
The two were whispering, as the senior executive of the command center, Ashura, and Chief Melros of the Mysterious Investigation Department of the Bureau of Investigation came out of a room. Their hands and faces were covered with splashed blood and dirt, and they were as ferocious as evil spirits.
The two big men were gasping and talking to themselves, not looking at each other. Soon, they saw the two half-elves passing by and greeted them politely.
"Good noon, Miss Investigator, Mr. Halandil," Chief Ashra said, wiping his blood, "You have done a good job. Although the situation is still serious, at least Antiha's case has come to light."
Melros stood aside. He no longer had a burnout expression of indulgence, his eyes radiated like bright gems with the brilliance of wisdom and will. He did not speak, but just watched Ashra speak.
"We will publish a communiqué about the case," Ashura said. "The front-line executive Antiha is a kind and gentle elf whose sacrifices make him unable to extricate himself. He has been assisting the work of the Veterans' Council and is a respectable commander. However, he was plotted by a group of traitors. These traitors belonging to a hidden sect, which is extremely dangerous. Just contacting them will cause madness. In order to maintain order and peace in Canaan, we will enforce curfews and confiscate all items related to the sect."
Melrose stood aside, neither nodding nor shook his head.
In other words, the investigation came to an end and avoided Miss Aleya. Halandier felt that he had heard the meaning of the high-level executive words. The murderer of Antiha's murder was found, and he was the half-elves who converted to the cult. The murderer also had the motive, which was the crazy belief of the cultists~
Then, the next countermeasures have been clarified - even professionals like the commanders of the army have been killed, kind citizens must not contact these pagan madmen, and must not touch suspicious items if they find them.
"Mr. Halandil, please return to your residence," said Chief Melrose with a cold expression, "thank you for your assistance."
Before Halandil answered, the investigator took his hand and said goodbye to the two commanders, quickly walked outside and said, "This is a real cult. Knowing the name will lead to temptation, and chanting prayers will also enhance its power. Once rumors and fear spread, those who are unpredictable will also wait for an opportunity to move.
"The official has launched a plan to deal with the invasion of mysterious forces. According to the procedures, relevant information must be closed immediately to prevent civilians from contacting. However, Miss Aleya's experience made this matter look curious."
Back to this matter... Harandil thought. This elf lady seemed to have a good status. This experience may damage her reputation and would easily be spread by adding fuel to the fire.
They passed by some interrogation rooms and heard screams of hoarseness from inside. The cultists who were tortured roared in despair:
“The end of the city of sin is coming, and the knights and messengers in ancient prophetic poems will awaken.
"Canan will surely be destroyed!"
...
Halandil hurried back. He had no place to go, so he could only go to Pilotis's residence. When he was about to return to his residence, he suddenly remembered something - according to the memory of another world, since martial law is required, should he prepare some food?
The official must know a lot of information that I don't know, and at the same time, there are some secrets that even torture cannot be done. Those phantoms from the darkness will appear to a few faithful believers. The statuettes reveal a vague monster appearance, but no one knows whether the one who really threatens the world looks like that.
The official is so cautious, and he must think that the threat is very great and he must deal with it carefully. Then, the curfew may be how long!
