Chapter 28 Are you calling the doctor?
In this ancient Antarctic ruins, the protruding tentacles or horns are deformed buildings like spiders walking over their heads. Humans under them are at risk of rockfall and landslides at any time.
The lieutenant was quiet for a while, but soon contacted him again and confirmed that there was a doctor and many supplies in the medical station, and there was no sign of collapse on the road along the way. The disadvantage was that it was far away and it took about an hour to explore and advance in the darkness to reach.
In any case, everyone cannot stay in their current position. In addition to Luo An and the assistant professor, as well as the reporters, chefs, archaeologists and engineers who just introduced themselves, six people were injured. They relied on protective suits to treat the wounds simply. If they were left alone, blood congestion and fractures would aggravate their injuries.
The people present were unsure of their minds for a moment. Some people felt that although the passage that the lieutenant had just climbed over was at a risk of falling on a cliff, it was much closer to the elevator leading to the ground. So someone stood up and said:
"I'll crawl over here too!"
The person who spoke had a staff member's logo on his body, he was not injured and was agile. After saying that, he crawled into the culprit left by the lieutenant.
"Are you sure?" the assistant professor looked at the brave gentleman, "If there is an aftershock, it is not a joke."
"That's better than walking in the dark under a stone that collapses at any time!" the man said while crawling, "It will take only a few minutes to climb over, as long as you can get to that place..."
There was a tinging sound from the pipe hanging on the cliff. It seemed that the gentleman was moving very quickly and climbed half of the distance in a short while. Seeing someone taking the lead, the people present were in good condition and were eager to try. The others were looking forward to it, but looking at the bottomless cliff, they retreated again.
At this moment, a slight tremor came from the ground again. The vibration gradually intensified, and the rocks on the top of their heads also fell down. Everyone exclaimed and lay on the ground and curled up together.
The earthquake became more and more severe, even more terrifying than before. The pipes across the cliffs swayed violently, and the solid metal pipes deformed during pulling and swaying, making a heart-pounding creaking, and the people inside screamed.
"Don't stop," the lieutenant shouted in the communication channel, "Come here."
As soon as he finished speaking, the pipes were torn apart. The anchors built at both ends of the cliffs broke apart one after another and fell towards the endless abyss.
“Wow——!”
When the aftershocks stopped, the scream of despair was still lingering in Luo An's ears. He felt his whole body trembling, and he barely got up to look at the others, and found that everyone had avoided the cliff from afar and gathered towards the road leading to the medical room.
...
There is no choice now. Under the guidance of the lieutenant, the survivors deviated towards the medical station together.
In this underground pit that has been silent for countless years, once it leaves the artificial lighting, it will fall into thick darkness, and there is no way to judge the time and location. Fortunately, everyone has searchlights and communication facilities on their protective suits, and the lieutenant is also observing their whereabouts, and will notify them in time if they walk into a fork.
The shaking lights illuminate nearby buildings from time to time, revealing a hideous corner they hide. The shaking shadows and ubiquitous darkness strangle the heart like invisible hands, and all survivors are shrouded in some emotion that looks very fear but not entirely fear.
They stood close together, passing through the rock cracks and ruins, and looked at the strange edges and carvings on both sides from time to time in horror. The angle of the stones was unpredictable and mad. At first glance, it looked like a dragon, but then it became a reptile or squid. Behind each corner, there seemed to be hides ferocious malice, hiding an indescribable unknown, but it was unreal and there was no evidence.
The reporter kept holding her camera and aimed the camera at the deepest darkness. She shivered in the darkness, even with a terrifying tremolo:
"I think something is looking at us..."
No one paid attention to her words. Everyone wanted to run away, but they didn't know where they could escape.
Under the guidance of the lieutenant, everyone avoided the cliffs and boulders that were in danger of landslides, circled an arc, and prepared to arrive at the safe area from a relatively gentle area. After less than a quarter of an hour of action, the situation of the wounded worsened, and they could only act with the help of others.
Survivors stumbled and moved forward in the darkness. There was no passage here, nor was it a path for mortals at all. The ancient ruins were like huge pyramids, slowly extending upward layer by layer, as if they were about to climb an altar. It would take not long to operate in such a place to exhaust everyone's physical strength.
Engineer Colin walked the fastest. He climbed up a huge rock, seemed to have discovered something, and shouted at everyone.
"I found a door!"
Luo An followed and found that this was a ruin that looked like a gate. There were blurred reliefs on the ancient boulders, which looked like squid and dragon-like. They were extremely huge, which reminded him of the cult sculptures that the Lieutenant of the Intelligence showed him.
The door was amazingly large and was not designed for species known to mankind and humans. The door was closed, but when standing in front of it, Luo An seemed to hear the illusory and heavy steps, the sound of water dripping from liquids and the strange gasps. This made him extremely uneasy and was about to escape on the spot.
"Do you hear any sound?"
Hearing this, everyone pricked up their ears and listened carefully. However, there seemed to be silence in the darkness, and everyone noticed nothing but their own breath.
The assistant professor also listened and shook his head: "The door is closed, I heard nothing."
Professor Campbell came to the huge door. He stared at the carvings that only showed the tip of the iceberg in the darkness, muttering in a low voice, as if chanting some ancient prayer: "Why...is it...why is it here?"
"The medical station is not here," the lieutenant immediately urged everyone in the communication channel, "keep moving forward and don't touch the buildings in the ruins."
However, all the wounded could not walk anymore. Even the reporter and the chef said that they had no strength to continue walking.
"This won't work," said archaeologist Professor Campbell, who saw the situation get worse and worse, and said, "We and the wounded stay here. It should be not far from the medical station. Can you go there and invite a doctor? We are here to wait for you."
Without waiting for Luo An to persuade him, the assistant professor came over and patted him on the shoulder: "That's it, let's hurry up."
Considering that there was really no other way, Luo An, the assistant professor and the Colin engineer continued to move forward.
Finally, a complete facility appeared in front of them. There was no hanging boulder structure above the facility, but not far away was an extremely deep inclined tunnel leading to endless darkness.
“Is this a medical station?”
It does look like a perfect cabin, but there are not many ancillary facilities or traces of human activities around it. The ancient and majestic buildings stare at them like giants.
The lieutenant replied: "It was originally used to transport samples and specimens, and the contact terminal, lounge and medical room was expanded. The positioning showed that the doctor, Miss Sayer, was inside. She should be busy and did not reply to my contact. I can open the entrance for you and rescue the wounded first. I will try to arrange the rescue."
Soon, the airlock in the square cabin was opened. The group walked into the airtight cabin, and the thick airtight door closed behind them, and the airtight door in front slowly opened.
The situation here looks pretty good. At least the cabin is complete, the lighting is bright and soft. However, there are many separate rooms here and there are nowhere to be seen.
"Lt. Where is the doctor?"
"In a certain room, I don't have a structural diagram inside the cabin, so I can't guide you in the specific room."
Luo An, who was worried about the wounded, couldn't help but shout:
"Doctor, where are the doctors? We need help!"
He shouted, and anxiously pounded the doors of the cubicles in various places. Soon, the door of a room opened and a young woman walked out from there.
Her appearance is exquisite, with long silver hair tied behind her head, and her violet eyes are as bright as if she can speak, just like a fairy in the forest walking out of the painting. Seeing Luo An pounding the door, she asked softly:
Chapter completed!
