Chapter 8: A Bizarre Adventure Never Envisioned
After the inquired person Brutus left the inquiry room, Pilottis asked several half-elves. These veterans who had been under Antiha's command said that they had never had direct communication with Chief Antiha, or they had no idea about him.
After finishing the inquiry, Miss Ranger decided to take a short rest. She said while checking the records:
"Brutus was once a battle hero, but his teammates who performed missions with him often ended up being wiped out. Even the official records call him the "Monder".
Halandil recalled Brutus' appearance and was very puzzled: "But I see that the half-elves are still very awe of him and it is difficult to connect with the disaster star."
While sorting out the scattered ends of his hair, Pilottis said, "Maybe the neighbors' units and retired companions often get his help. If the half-elves returned to Canaan are bullied, everyone hopes that someone can stand up and speak for them.
"On the other hand, perhaps because he is not the main reason for his teammate's casualties. The front-line executive is responsible for the tactics and intelligence of the entire war zone. The combat troops dance with their baton. If they execute tactics that are obviously sent to death or wrong, the survivors will definitely hold a grudge against the executive."
"There was a Ranger who returned from the battlefield who tried to assassinate Antiha, which happened a while ago."
After hearing this, Halandil fell into deep thought:
"I remember, Chief Melros said that our mission is not to find the murderer, but to investigate Antiha's thought changes and trajectory of action."
"Yes~" Miss Ranger nodded deeply, "The half-elves who have conflicts with Antiha have motives, not to mention that one of them once turned the motive into action.
"We are not the only investigators in this case. If, I just say it casually, if the official investigation finds something inconvenient to say, there must be a public statement when the noble elf dies.
"Then, my record today is..."
In the evening, the half-elves interviewee finally finished asking. Halandir was thirsty and hungry, and was extremely glad to be relieved.
They left the office of the Veterans Commission and there were no one on the street. Although they bid farewell to the half-elves, Halandir was still in a grey mood.
"Are you hunger-being?" Miss Ranger looked at the time and suddenly asked.
"Um?"
"If you can stand your hunger, let's go to listen to opera first and then eat delicious food!" After that, she stuffed a cookie to Halandil without giving her companions a chance to express her opinions, and grabbed his arm and ran to the theater.
Halandil was actually very tired. He thought he was going to an elegant and grand theater, and he couldn't help but worry about whether his outfit was formal. When he came to his senses, he was already sitting on a chair in the small theater, staring at the curtain in front of him in a daze.
The first opera is a comedy: the male protagonist travels to a distant country and meets a cute and lively beauty. Under the leadership of the girl, he encounters many interesting things like a dream in a fairyland, leaving romantic memories. When he finally mustered up the courage to express his love, he found that his lover was waiting for another man who looked like him. The girl was looking forward to the return of her sweetheart who was traveling far away. After finally waiting for the male protagonist, she did not find that the same appearance was completely different. What should I do?
The second opera "The Shepherd" is even more commendable:
The shepherd girl lives on the beautiful grass with her lovely lamb, and every day is filled with joyful singing. However, on some quiet nights, the girl will be awakened by the sarcastic cry from the lord's house.
They must be poor lambs, they are about to be eaten. How can I let the lambs be eaten! Save them!
The shepherd girl thought this way and decided to save her friends. However, she could not take all the lambs away, so she could only pick up the one she loved the most and ran into the darkness.
The dark path seemed to have no end. She had passed through many forests and rivers. The lamb could not run anymore, so she held it and continued to run. The lamb in her arms became heavier and heavier, and soon she could not hold it. When she finally put down the lamb tiredly, the silly little guy actually shouted.
"Stop calling, stop calling! You will call the Lord."
After all, the lamb couldn't understand her words and continued to shout. The lord quickly found them and took them back to the manor.
The shepherd was very scared, and she couldn't stop crying. The lord's family took her into the big house and asked her to sit by the table.
"Do you want to punish me?"
"Punish you? That's not a big deal~" said the lord, opening a steamer with a smile,
"There is nothing more delicious than fresh stew after exercise. Come on, kid, try it together."
The final epic drama is unbelievable that it can be presented in a small theater:
It was a story from a long time ago. The elves lived in the forest and worshiped the ancient forests and wilderness gods. On this day, they saw huge and sacred bodies rising from the distant sea of stars.
The seven leaders of the elves announced to everyone-
“A good time has arrived;
"Our gods are not ancient gods. They come from far away and walk in our world."
Naturally, some believers of ancient God were not very happy. They said that the Majesty who had just arrived was a false idol and a carrier of lies. The heroes fought with them, chanting melodious chants, seeking God's protection, expelling those who spoke in distortion, and then preparing to welcome the gods to come to the land of Canaan.
The amazing aria completely wrapped Halandil in. He was completely immersed in it and received an unparalleled enjoyment.
Whenever a shadow flew over the stage, the audience couldn't help but cheer, "Okay!"
The deafening cheers almost trembled the roof of the theater. At the last moment of this magical sense feast, Miss Ranger cried in her arms.
...
The opera ended with applause and cheers, and the performance ended. Miss Ranger pulled her companion's sleeves and walked outside to avoid getting lost in the crowd.
"Does it look good?"
"Excellent, it's so wonderful!" Harandil's palm hurt. Even in the past world, he had never received such amazing sensory enjoyment.
The two walked out of the theater and passed through the secluded alley. Miss Ranger pulled him to stand in the darkness, looking around with caution, as if she was slipping into the kitchen kitten.
"What are you looking for?" Halandir asked.
The girl did not answer her, but did not let go of his arm.
Gods above, could it be—
Halandil stood there, almost no distance from the girl. The nice fragrance came from, scratching his nose. The night was quiet and beautiful, and there was no one nearby. If you wanted to do something, wouldn’t it be the best time now?
Pilottis has always been very proactive. Whether it is traveling or investigating, she invited her to stay in her house... Could it be that she should take the initiative in such matters? Halandil laughed in his heart. Whether it is past memories or present memories, he has never dated a girl, and has no experience. He vaguely felt that it was not good to let the girl lead the rhythm, but... well, it is okay to take the initiative in other things in the future!
Thinking of this, he immediately raised his energy. After a day of busyness, he was wiped out and waited for something beautiful to happen next.
Having said that, this street is really quiet.
Just then, Halandil heard a sound.
The strange sound came from the ground. Halandil seemed to hear the sound of scratching and messy footsteps, as if thousands of rats were rioting.
He took a step back in panic and looked around. Under the dim light, there were only two of them and the empty streets and buildings like rock walls. The sound of tide came from afar and spread to the distance.
Without waiting for Halandil to ask, the girl seemed to have found something, she raised her cheeks with satisfaction, held his arm, and dragged him into a dark little door. They circled around the darkness a few times, pushed open the little door and walked into a basement.
When I came here, the strange sound became louder.
The two walked forward along the steps leading to the underground. It was like a tidal underground cave, and the mysterious riots were endless. There were even faint shadows and glimmers of light shook through the basement under the crack of the door. It was as if the mice in Canaan were moving, digging in the deep and dark underground, running back and forth.
Halandil couldn't help but remember the stories he saw when he was a child, and felt that he had become a villain and was deeply involved in the kingdom of rats.
In this darkness, there was suddenly light, and the noisy sound turned into a crowd of people, and the faint shadow appeared.
Halandil found himself standing at the entrance of a street market, with torches and glowing crystals on the wall illuminating the surroundings. Here, he was surprised to see many humans.
A human uncle stood behind the vegetable stall, with apples and bread in front of him, and many humans and half-elves lined up here and nearby. The uncle also saw Harandil, Yang Yang shouted to him:
