40. Chapter 40

Mu Xue and Cen Qianshan walked into the gate of the temple.

There was a glowing jade screen hanging in the middle of the square. At this moment, some images of unknown significance were playing on the screen.

Sometimes, there are some colorful spheres, sometimes mysterious and dazzling nebula. More often, there are various faces of countless people.

Countless ghosts sat in front of the jade screen, and the changing light and shadow on the screen hit their dull and godless faces.

When Mu Xue walked over, she saw the figure of her senior sister Miao Honger. She sat in the outermost circle of those ghosts, squeezed on a small bench, and sat upright in a regular manner. Her face, which was so lively in the past, looked straight ahead with her eyes blankly.

Mu Xue felt sad and refused to look at her face. She walked through this open square and entered the main hall of the temple.

The temple in ancient times was simple and thick and majestic when the chaos first broke out. There were towering stone pillars on both sides of the hall, and desolate and huge ancient god stone carvings.

Those statues must be from the hands of God, not from the power of man.

Some people have gods with snake bodies, and there are monsters with six arms and two heads. There are gods with fire hair, ferocious faces, and stomping on dragon feet. There are goddesses with clouds and moons, floating fairy clothes, and ascending on the moon.

They either entrenched on the top of the pillars, staring at the passing people from a high place. They either held the dome with their arms, their muscles were tangled, and they looked down at the earth with glaring eyes.

Although they are just lifeless stone statues, they are all lifelike, faintly exuding the power of ancient gods from millions of years ago, making the people passing through them naturally feel awe.

Inside the temple, there was no movement. The voice of speech echoed in the vast stone hall. At a glance, there was no other exit except the main entrance when I came in.

The legendary Endless Pool of Lifelessness is in this temple, but I don’t know where it is.

In the middle of the hall, sitting cross-legged, the statue of the ancient god of the Dongyue. Mu Xue stood in front of the huge statue and looked up. The god lowered his eyebrows and looked at her from a high place, as if he was pitying all the people in the world.

Mu Xue suddenly remembered the song he heard in the illusion of the Taixu Realm when he stepped into the gate of the temple.

"The sky has longevity, and the earth sometimes... the way of heaven cannot be bound by it, and life is boundless. There is nothing more than this in the ultimate bliss of the world."

This is the meaning of paradise.

Thinking about it now, what she saw, heard and felt when she was traveling through the six realms not long ago, must have come from the gift of this god.

Only a true god who has seen such a world in his eyes can convey such feelings to her.

That illusion benefited Mu Xue very much, and vaguely laid the height of the foundation stone of her Taoist heart. During this trip to the temple, what she received was deeply engraved in her heart and something that no one could seize. No genius treasure could match.

Mu Xue twisted the incense left to them by Zhongbo of the three pillars, lit it, raised it to the top of her head, worshiped three times respectfully, and inserted it into the incense burner that had been covered with dust in front of Dongyue for many years.

The moment the incense burned into the stove, a distant sigh came from somewhere. The stone wall behind the temple fell dust and opened a door.

Cen Qianshan and Mu Xue walked to the door and saw that the cliff wall outside the door was steep and abyss, with only a thin stone beam coming out of the door. Looking up, the end of the stone beam was connected to an oasis floating in the air in the distance.

There is a clear spring in the center of the green island in the sky, which is the destination of everyone's trip, the endless pool of lifelessness.

The sky here is no longer the dimness of the setting sun. The abyss is filled with smoke, the sky is covered with rain and rain, and it is drizzling.

"The rain of compassion will bring back all the spiritual energy to heaven and earth. It cannot pass through. There will be bone-eroding pain when it passes."

The sounds that sounded from time to time along the way once again reminded them of the danger here.

Cen Qianshan reached out his hand into the rain curtain, and a drop of rain hit his fingers, quickly corroding his skin and a wisp of blue smoke rose.

The rain here is highly corrosive. The stone beams are only the size of an arm, and the foot is a deep abyss. If you want to pass through here, you can imagine what the price you will have to pay.

Cen Qianshan pointed at the threshold and showed Mu Xue a conspicuous footprint, "That brother Fu Dao came out of the illusion earlier than you and me. He has already passed through here."

After saying this, he looked up at Mu Xue.

The meaning in that look was very obvious. Your senior brother has passed, and I am ready to go. You just stay here and wait for us to come back, okay?

Mu Xue shook her head: "Although I am young, I am also a cultivator. Although I will suffer from physical injuries when I get into such a rain, I will not die. When I go there, I will take some medicine and will recover soon like you."

Cen Qianshan stopped talking. He pulled out Han Frost and cut off a short and fat ghost statue with several swords. He put the statue on his head and took Mu Xue into the sinister rain curtain.

The stone beam is thin and slippery, and it is very difficult to walk. The foot is still a deep abyss. But Mu Xue calmed down and tried her best to walk steadily and quickly, not wanting to drag down Cen Qianshan who was walking with him.

Her attention was all focused on her feet, and she did not notice that the person following her was almost tilting half of the stone statue that blocked the acid rain onto her head, protecting her so carefully, without letting a drop of rain splash on her body.

After they stepped into the rain curtain, the rain began to grow heavier. The seemingly solid stone statue became vulnerable in the rain. The mud kept flowing down from the surroundings of the stone statues, and the thick and heavy statues dissolved and became lighter, and eventually could no longer block the wind and rain.

The long stone beams are almost half still not completed.

Mu Xue began to run, ready to bear the pain, and stretched her arms from behind and wrapped her into her arms.

Cen Qianshan bent over and protected the little Mu Xue in his arms. The extremely corrosive acid rain hit his head, shoulders, and spine, and wisps of blue smoke rose. However, no drop could splash on the person in his arms.

At the beginning, he mobilized the thin spiritual power in his body to fight against it and could still run quickly on the stone beams. As the wisps of smoke rising from his body became thicker, his pace gradually slowed down.

He hunched his back and hugged Mu Xue, with thick smoke rolling on his back, slowly walking in the overwhelming rain curtain.

Mu Xue was tightly clamped in her arms by her arms and could not move. At the angle of her head, she could only see Cen Qianshan's face hanging down on her head becoming paler.

Although she couldn't see the situation outside, she could still know what was going on and said anxiously: "Let me down and I'll leave myself."

"It doesn't matter." Cen Qianshan looked at her and slowly smiled at her, "It's better to get wet from the rain on both sides.

He walked forward slowly, as if he was just walking in the rain with Mu Xue in his arms.

He spoke softly while walking, and the words seemed to be spoken to Mu Xue in his arms, or to himself.

"Do you know, I have a master who is the best person in the world?"

"When I was young, she often held me in her arms like this, protected me in heavy snow, and walked home slowly."

Mu Xue was in his arms, raised her head and kept looking at the person in front of her.

The man's forehead was against his wet temples, his eyes were covered with mist, and he seemed to have fallen into a state of not being awake. But he still used his powerful arms to protect himself tightly, step by step, and walk in the drizzle.

"Once, I had a high fever, just like now, my whole body was hot and painful." He said in a daze, "I thought she would throw me away. But she held me so carefully, protected me in her arms, and walked in the heavy snow, without letting a snowflake fall on me."

"That was the first time I knew that I was also a life that could be protected. I was not a bastard who no one wanted, nor a rag that could be beaten at will."

"You don't know how much I love her. Even if she doesn't want me anymore, even if she just smiles at others, it's okay. As long as I can take a look at her from a distance... I'll be very happy."

There was autumn water in his eyes, and he lowered his head and said affectionate love words.

You don't know how much I love her.

I love her.

I've always loved her.

Even if the heart is soaked in such a long and endless autumn water, it will inevitably be soft.

I learned to feel distressed, feel guilty, and have a little urge to respond to him.

Finally, he reached the end of the stone and the edge of the rain. Cen Qianshan placed Mu Xue on the land of the fragrant grass, and he fell to the ground and could no longer move.

Mu Xue could hardly bear to see his corroded body, and gritted her teeth and placed him in a dry and rain-free grassland, took medicine, and treated his wounds.

"It's okay, it's just a skin injury." Cen Qianshan smiled and comforted her, "I'll take a break and it'll be cured soon."

It's obviously so hard, but he has become so cute recently.

Mu Xue certainly knew that if it weren't for protecting her, Cen Qianshan would never have been injured even if he was injured. And if he passed by alone and even racked his brains, he would never have been intact.

"You rest here, I'll go to the Endless Pool to see. What do you want? I'll get it back for you." She asked Cen Qianshan carefully, but she wasn't sure if such an important thing was that Xiaoshan would be willing to tell herself with her current identity.

"If possible, help me pick a blue and blue black lotus." Cen Qianshan said casually, "If you can't get it, you don't have to force it. Now, this thing is nothing to me."

He closed his eyes lightly and stopped looking at Mu Xue.
