Chapter 17 The first dish of life

When he opened the dough properly and saw the honeycomb-shaped pores inside, Yang Zhenxing almost burst into laughter.

At only seven years old, he succeeded in making dough for the first time. He has reason to be proud.

Carrying the basin, he came to the middle hall and followed his grandfather's example. He grabbed some flour and sprinkled it on the table. He turned the basin over and let the dough fall down on its own.

Then dip your fingers into some flour and scrape off the surface stuck to the wall of the basin.

Standing on the stool, Yang Zhenxing rolled up his sleeves and started kneading dough.

Use your height to lean your entire body's center of gravity forward and place it on your two arms.

Although I usually squat and practice wrestling every day, I am still young after all, and my strength cannot be compared with that of adults.

After rubbing it for a while, Yang Zhenxing was so tired that he was covered in sweat.

Only then did he remember Liu Jianye in the yard, and quickly called him in.

"Gouzi! Gouzi!"

"Come on, Brother Yang, what happened!" Hearing the shout, Liu Jianye thought an accident had happened and hurriedly ran into the house.

"Why are you shouting so loudly? It's okay for you to shout that something is wrong."

Seeing that nothing was going on in the room, Liu Jianye breathed a sigh of relief, noticed the dough on the table, and started to glance at it.

"Am I worried about you? Brother Yang, why are you calling me? Is the noodles ready?"

"No, I'm too tired to knead the dough by myself. Let's take turns and let me take a breather first."

"I don't know how to knead dough, Brother Yang!" Liu Jianye felt very sad when he was told to work, so he kicked him out when he was no longer needed. After working, he thought of him.

"What nonsense! Do you want to eat the delicious food I made? I started working early in the morning for you, but you didn't do it even when I asked you to help knead the dough. It makes me so sad!"

Liu Jianye felt really aggrieved when he heard this.

"Brother Yang, I didn't ask you to make delicious food for me! It's not your job to do it yourself..."

Seeing Yang Zhenxing's unkind look, he quickly changed his words and whispered: "Can't I knead the dough? I really don't know how to knead the dough. Don't yell at me if I make a mistake!"

As a result, the two of them worked hard for almost an hour and were completely exhausted.

Liu Jianye collapsed on the chair, unable to lift his arms.

"Brother Yang, how long are you going to keep rubbing it for? I can't hold on any longer!"

Yang Zhenxing usually practiced stretching more and his condition was better, but not much better. At this moment, he was also slumped in the chair.

"According to Grandpa, the dough has to be kneaded until there are no air holes in the dough. I think both of us can knead until it gets dark and both can meet the requirements. Just forget it and just make do with it! I think it shouldn't be a problem."

The more Liu Jianye listened, the more unreliable he felt. He didn't want to say a word now and had completely given up trying to persuade Yang Zhenxing to stop.

Taking advantage of the so-called second awakening, Yang Zhenxing took off Liu Jianye's clothes, wiped off the sweat, and changed into dry clothes.

Instructing the other party to wash clothes in the yard, he ignored the resentful look in his eyes and returned to the main hall to continue making unfinished food.

The most troublesome step was completed, and Yang Zhenxing felt that the remaining steps would be very easy.

He didn't know whether the dough had woken up properly, so he just smashed it into individual dough balls with his hands, and then spread them out with a rolling pin.

When using a rolling pin for the first time, the dough always sticks to the rolling pin at first.

After studying for a while, he remembered what his grandfather had done, and quickly sprinkled some flour on the rolling pin and dough, which effectively prevented this situation from happening again.

Roll the dough into small square pieces and apply a little pepper salt water on top.

Yang Zhenxing then turned on the fire in the house, put the small iron pot that his grandfather usually used for cooking on the stove, and carefully wiped a little lard that his grandfather had boiled from pig skins during the New Year in the pot.

After you feel that the temperature is about the same, put the dough pieces in the pot and start making food.

As soon as the dough was put into the pot, Yang Zhenxing immediately shoveled it with a spatula, trying to turn it over to coat the dough with oil.

As you can imagine, the dough that had not yet begun to form became tattered and messy in the pot as he moved.

Not to mention sticking to the pan, some of the dough shoveled into small particles began to become mushy as the temperature in the pan increased, and the pan also began to smoke.

The house was instantly filled with smoke. Yang Zhenxing dropped the pot on the ground and ran out of the house immediately.

"Cough cough cough!"

He was coughing so much from the smoke that his nose and tears came out.

Liu Jianye, who was so frightened that he was squatting in the yard washing clothes, immediately jumped up and hurried over to check the situation.

"What's wrong, Brother Yang? What happened? Is there a fire in the house? Why does the whole house smell like fire?"

Yang Zhenxing waved his hand to indicate that there was no fire, "It's okay. Ahem, I didn't notice that the things became mushy. Ahem, you open the window to disperse the smoke in the room. I'll wait for a while."

Following the instructions, Liu Jianye ran over and opened the window. He took a look at the miserable situation in the house and became worried again.

"Brother Yang, I think we shouldn't continue. When grandpa comes back and admits his mistake, he won't be beaten. If we continue, I'm afraid something will really happen!"

"I told you it was an accident, an accident! I already know the reason, and I won't mess it up again next time!"

After taking a breath, Yang Zhenxing went back to the house to clean up the black and white dough in the pot, and used a shovel to vigorously shovel away the dregs stuck in the pot.

I brushed a little more lard on it and tried again.

He thought that what happened just now was probably because he was too impatient and wanted to turn the dough over as soon as he put it in the pan.

At the same time, the fire on the stove may be too strong, so he turned off the stove a little to make the fire smaller.

After trying it out, it finally worked out for the second time.

Although it was still burnt due to unskilledness and turning it over too late, at least it did not stick to the pan again, and there was no smoke in the room.

After trying and wasting several pieces of noodles, Yang Zhenxing finally got the hang of it.

He now believes that if he does it next time, he will never fail again.

After frying the few remaining noodles, Yang Zhenxing impatiently took them to the yard and asked Liu Jianye to try them quickly.

"Brother Yang, what are you doing?" Liu Jianye looked at the familiar food in the bowl and asked uncertainly.

"Grilled buns! This is something I've been thinking about for a long time. Eat it while it's hot!"

"Why do we have to start with dough when baking steamed buns? Wouldn't it be easier for us to cut the steamed buns that we have steamed at home and bake them directly?"

Looking at the bowl, which was white in the middle, with four circles of burnt brown and some mushy edges, Liu Jianye thought it looked like the baked steamed buns his grandfather would occasionally make for them.

Yang Zhenxing blushed, then his eyes widened, and he said viciously:

"You can eat if you are told! Where did all this nonsense come from! It's not like you don't know how much effort I put into this morning. Eat quickly!"

Liu Jianye shrank his neck, wiped his hands on his clothes, picked up a piece of hot grilled buns, took a bite, and said while eating:

"It's similar to the baked buns made by grandpa. It just has a mushy smell when you eat it, but it tastes better than what grandpa made. It would be nice if it didn't have such a mushy smell!"

"You know the best! You can't stop your mouth when you eat! Eat honestly and pick up everything quickly after eating. If you keep doing this, I won't let you eat anything delicious in the future!"
