written before the story begins
I always remember a scene when I was a child: on the streets in the evening of summer, the trees were shaded, the sunset was like fire, and the sunset made the large oil painting poster in the cinema red. On the poster, a woman in white dressed in Peking Opera held a long sword, smiled with a smile on her lips, and was heroic and beautiful. The name of that movie was called "The Legend of the White Snake". Perhaps it was from then on that time that I fell in love with Bai Suzhen.
Broken bridges, borrowing umbrellas, stealing fairy grass, and flooding the golden mountains... No legend is more popular and familiar than "White Snake". In the West, snakes are the spokesperson of the devil, but in China, they have since become the incarnation of truth, goodness and beauty. Bai Suzhen, who gave everything for ordinary and cowardly Xu Xian, almost concentrated all the charm and traditional virtues of Eastern women. In the words of Fa Ge, if you don't love her, you will be "inhuman."
From the Tang Dynasty legend "The White Snake" to the Southern Song Dynasty vernacular "Pisces Fan Down", to Feng Menglong's "White Snake Yongzhen Leifeng Pagoda" by Feng Menglong in the Ming Dynasty, Fang Chengpei in the Qing Dynasty, Huang Tuyu's "Leifeng Pagoda" by Tanci "The Legend of Yimo", Li Bihua and Tsui Hark's "Green Snake"... How many people are obsessed with her and write songs. Even Lu Xun cheered for the fall of Leifeng Pagoda. In fact, what if the Leifeng Pagoda did not collapse? She has broken all shackles for the past thousand years and became an immortal winner.
Since I was very young, I wanted to write a story for her. In this story, there are broken bridges, borrowed umbrellas, robbed fairy grass, and water flooded Jinshan. There are also Xu Xian, Bai Snake, Xiaoqing, and Fahai... However, the plot of the whole story is completely different, and everyone's personality and destiny are also very different.
For example, in this story, Xu Xian is no longer the mediocre and cowardly apprentice or scholar in a pharmacy, but a brilliant man who is worthy of Bai Suzhen and dares to love and hate. The location of the story is not limited to West Lake and Jinshan Temple, but a more magnificent stage. Only such a stage can accommodate their love and legend.
Like all versions, this story took place in the Song Dynasty. In many people's impression, the Song Dynasty was an era that was as weak as Xu Xian. But in fact, the politics, economy, and culture of the Song Dynasty were the highest peaks of ancient Chinese history. The people of the Song Dynasty lived a colorful life far ahead of other countries in the world. If it weren't for the Mongolian cavalry that swept the whole world, China might have even entered a capitalist society ahead of schedule. Of course, this is just an off-topic.
In short, this is an era of comfort, a war-torn era, an era of heroes emerged and each leading the way. I think that Bai Suzhen and Xu Xian who lived in this era should not be children who lived in a corner of the West Lake and sang the wind and the moon on the Broken Bridge and Su Dike. They should have a more wonderful, magnificent, heroic and legendary life.
