Chapter 366 Wang Fuqing's Confucian Viewpoint

Update time: 2013-01-10

When Wang started school, he kept listening to the teacher in history class what middle school is the body and Western learning is the application. At that time, he was a little confused and couldn't figure out what the relationship between the two was. In his understanding, the two were completely incompatible.

The so-called middle school is of course easy to understand. In the Qing Dynasty, it is naturally the classic theory of Confucianism, which is the classic theory of self-cultivation and character management of the family, governing the country and pacifying the world. If we consider the achievements of poetry, songs and literature... in fact, from Wang Yi's own point of view, literature does have nothing to do with Confucianism itself. It is more of the benefits of reading and literacy. It is only in all dynasties that all scholars were Confucian scholars, which gave people the illusion that poets are disciples of Confucianism. Otherwise, in the West where there is no Confucianism, literature should not appear. Obviously, this is a very absurd thing. So, say a thousand and ten thousand, what is Confucianism?

It is a bit hurtful to answer, which is the theory of life, which was established by the feudal ruling class under the conditions of farming society, and is the theory of life, which is the philosophy of **, which is the philosophy of **.

And what is Western learning?

Wang didn't understand it when he was in school. However, when he returned to the Qing Dynasty, he had a rough understanding of Zhang Zhidong's nonsense. Simply put, in the eyes of Lao Zhang, or in the eyes of enlightened officials of the Qing Dynasty, Western learning was the industrial development of building foreign guns, cannons, ships and fire. To a certain extent, it was the development of strange and lewd tricks despised by Confucian officials.

Historically, the two are mutually exclusive. Pulling the two together is a joke of the world. What a weird scene that would be to let a traditional Chinese bureaucrat build a factory and lead a modern army.

Zhang Zhidong and his group of Confucian elm-heads obviously looked up to Confucianism and underestimated Western learning.

Compared with Confucianism, Western learning is simply a whole world, from capitalism to Marxism, from heliocentricism to great geographical discoveries, from macro physics to micro physics, from individual vendors to multinational corporations. Systematic mathematics, geometry, physics, chemistry, medicine, history, geography, art, music, and philosophy, these are the main characteristics of Western education completely different from Eastern Confucianism.

The West liberated from the conservative forces of religion, various theories flourished, reflected in society, which is constantly improving the government system, legal system, medical system, and social security system. Compared with the repressive environment of Confucianism with a self-righteous momentum, Western society is more of a color of liberating human nature, limited freedom and democracy, which gives the people the right to choose a job, talents can be circulated, and wealth can be transferred. The leader led people to flock to emerging industries, and the rise of the new working class changed the appearance of rural and towns. While the land of China was suppressed by Confucianism, the West made slow and solid progress in agriculture, industry, finance and service industries. Our backwardness began from the bravery of Europeans to break into the sea until Wang Yi came back, and he was only back to the slightly awkward position of the second place in the world.

At the beginning of the 20th century, there was only one country in later East Asia that successfully rose, that was Japan. Their national policy was very simple, that was, to leave Asia and Europe, and to completely Westernize. When time moved to the founding of the New Celestial Empire, we actually took the same path as the Japanese. The difference was that we were communist first, and then became the primary stage path of socialism with mixed socialism and capitalism, while neon was the capitalist path. Of course, it was not correct to say that complete westernization was not correct, but compared with our ancestors, we were actually serious bananas.

The huge and complex Western learning made Confucianism, which lagged behind the times, pale and powerless. The tragedy between the Qing Dynasty from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century came from this. It was limited to the times and was arrogant. Coupled with the special situation of the Qing Dynasty, it was very normal for Confucianism to turn the tide and clean up the country.

Keeping pace with the times is not the characteristic of Confucianism. If you get pregnant with a glare, you will play with your life, take the path of others, and leave others with no way out, that is the ability of later generations. Confucianism emphasizes imitating the previous kings and passing the saints. In the eyes of the king, the fundamental ideological investigation means that weasels are beans and animals... One generation is not as good as the other generation. In the later generations, children are not as good as the father, which is the biggest failure of education! However, in the past thousand years, this has become the most normal phenomenon. Even after Han Yu's "Talk of Teachers", the same is true. Confucianism, which has gradually improved by the kings, is like a prison, shackles the lifeline, vitality and blood of China, become tighter and tighter until nothing remains.

The reason why people in later generations complained that their ancestors had completely abandoned Confucianism was that they were full men and did not know that they were hungry. We were not born in that weak and sad era, and had never experienced the storm of turmoil. Although we were not numb, we could not empathize with it. The Celestial Empire in later generations made people in Wang Yi forget the pain of the era of bullying, and could not forgive the humility of their ancestors, hesitation and helplessness. In confusion, the sorrow was nothing more than the heart-wrenching pain of looking at the country's fragmented but unable to turn the world back.

In later generations, some people proudly said that anyone who conquered our China will end up being assimilated by us. This is the power of Confucianism. Whenever Wang Yi saw this, he would always say shamelessly in his heart. When those who were conquered by nomadic people in the past, the dead people did not count. Look at the current Celestial Empire, did Western learning assimilate us or did we assimilate others? Are we more like the ancients or more like the Westerns?

Wang Yi's own theory is right or wrong, but he made Xu Shichang dizzy and felt more mixed in his heart. He heard many things for the first time, and there was danger of being caught off guard when he thought about it. Fortunately, Lao Xu was not an ordinary person, and finally came to a conclusion and whispered: "Sir, do you have to overthrow the Qing Dynasty?"

"Oh? Why did you say that?" Wang Yi neither affirmed nor denied.

"Although I heard that Britain and France, which fought with us in the past few years, were completely different countries from our political system. The latter has no king for the time being, and just the former, it seems that the constitutional monarchy they implemented is more worthy of our reference. However, after thinking about the links below, I found that it is not feasible."

"Why?" Wang Yi asked with a smile.

Xu Shichang sighed and said, "Because I, the Qing Dynasty, practiced eight-legged Confucianism, and Confucian officials are not tolerated by Western learning. This aspect does not exist in Britain, so even if we implement constitutional monarchy and imitate the Western political system. However, if science is not prosperous, the country will not be prosperous and strong, and this political system reform will become meaningless."

The king nodded and said, "It may not be possible. Isn't the Japan in the east now a constitutional monarchy?"

"Japan is different from us. The emperor is the so-called Yamato tribe, and it is the absolute mainstream ethnic group of Japan. Our emperor is the Manchu tribe, an extremely ethnic minority. Even if the Han people do not destroy the Manchu tribes, they will never continue to support the Eight Banners children who are not doing birth." Xu Shichang saw it thoroughly. In fact, he only said half of the words. More thoughts in his heart were: "You, Wang Yi, already in the Northeast, have no days, and no two masters. Can you tolerate the Qing royal family?"
