Chapter 26 Kuaiji County Government Office (Part 2)

Chapter 26 Kuaiji County Government Office (Central)

Silence followed the Ma Dianshi out of Yongchangfang and walked northwest. After passing through several streets and crossing several stone bridges, he saw a very wide river. I saw ships coming and going on the river, and houses on both sides were lined up. This was the boundary river that divided the two counties of Kuaiji and Shanyin. Hedong is Kuaiji and Hexi is Shanyin.

Along the river are two parallel streets, Kuaiji Street to the east and Shanyin Avenue to the west. Three main roads of waterway traffic communicate with each other through countless ports built by the river.

Walking north along Kuaiji Street, the roads become wider and shops become denser, and then we reach the most prosperous area of Shaoxing City, Fuheng Street. Fuheng Street, as the name suggests, is a street that lies across the front of Shaoxing Prefecture. The government office faces north and south, and the street naturally faces east and west. Its place intersects with the Bian River and the two north and south streets is called Xuantingkou. It is named because of a wooden archway by the river, a plaque of "Guxuan Pavilion" hanging on the side of the river. The pavilion is enshrined with the compassionate Guanyin Bodhisattva, but because when I became a fool in practicing Taoism today, I was very angry at this Guanyin Master who abandoned Taoism and practiced Buddhism. The prefect of Shaoxing even restricted non-bald heads from entering to worship, so that the incense of this archway was not strong, and it seemed very dilapidated among the many stone archways built across the street.

However, Xuantingkou has been the downtown area of Shaoxing City since ancient times. Most commerce and water and land transportation hubs are concentrated here.

After silent walking down the wooden sign, my eyes were attracted by a larger stone slab that was slightly higher than the surrounding road.

Ma Dianshi noticed his gaze and laughed: "Boy, have you seen beheading here?"

Shun Shi shook his head in a daze, his memory really doesn't have this part.

"I didn't expect to be a good boy." Ma Dianshi couldn't help but smile and said, "We are the death row prisoners in Kuaiji County. We will behead this 'execution stone'..." As he said, he gestured to behead his head, and he said, "The third department at noon, with a crack, blood flowing like a spring, and a big head fell to the ground..."

Under the vicious sun, silent couldn't help but chill. He didn't expect that this three-foot square, clean and smooth stone slab was a way to return directly to the underworld.

After walking two steps and leaving this ghost place, I saw a lush hill not far away. On the south side of the mountain, facing him was a magnificent and continuous building complex. I was silent and helpless to find that I didn’t know which yamen it was. I couldn’t help but smile bitterly: ‘I haven’t even moved the county town all in my teenage years. My predecessor is really a little otaku.’ But I didn’t think that if there was no one who “only read the books of sages and turn a blind eye to the things outside the window’, why would he get into the team of scholars?

When he arrived at the site, he realized that this complex was composed of two county yamen and one government yamen. The highest and largest one in the middle was the residence of Shaoxing Prefecture, a subsidiary of the Zhejiang Chengxuan General Office of the Ming Dynasty. The two smaller buildings on the left and right were the residences of the county yamen in Kuaiji and Shanyin, both of which were only a few hundred steps away from the government yamen.

Although the three yamen are so close, they are actually limited to official documents, and the three local officials do not move around each other. It is not that the two adults are as lazy as County Magistrate Li, but because the prefect must abide by the official rules of "the prefect does not enter the county yamen", everyone has to stay in the yamen and communicate their feelings by relying on Hongyan to pass on letters.

Chen Si followed Ma Dianshi to the easternmost Kuaiji County Government Office. Before he could see the gate, he saw a wall with black tiles and white background. Various notices were posted on the south exterior wall of the screen wall.

Bypassing the screen wall, you will see a large archway with the title "Zhonglianfang" in the distance, which is very tall and elegant, covering the door of the county government.

The archway and the screen wall are far away, and there is a square in front of the Yaqian Square thirty or fifty feet in the middle. There is also a pavilion on the left and right sides of the square. The one on the left is called the "Shenming Pavilion", which is used to announce the recently cracked criminal cases and the verdicts of previous cases. Even the list of autumn decisions is posted here, which is obviously used to punish evil.

The other opposite is called "Jingshan Pavilion", which announces filial piety, brotherhood, benevolence, chastity and good deeds, which are used to promote good. Not only in front of the county government office, but also in the cottages of urban and rural areas, there are these two pavilions that "punish evil and promote good".

In front of the yamen, in the center of the square, there is a sacred edict pavilion, which is engraved with the "Six Odes" issued by Emperor Taizu Gao. There are 24 words in total, saying, "Be filial to parents, respect the elders, be harmonious with the countryside, teach the descendants, and be at peace with their own physiology, and do not do anything wrong." Every day on the first and fifteenth day of the day, county magistrates come here to preach to the masses, teach them to be good people in accordance with these six principles, be obedient to the court, and be good people of Lord Li.

The group walked around the Shengyu Pavilion and arrived in front of the county yamen. They saw that the outer walls on both sides of the main entrance of the yamen were tilted outward in eight characters, and the official documents were posted on the walls.

I looked at the six doors guarded by the pair of stone lions in silence, and said to myself: ‘I’m afraid this is the source of the six doors.’

Following Ma Dianshi, there was no need to inform him anymore. The group entered the county government from the side door beside the main entrance. As soon as they entered, they saw a shadow wall. He knew that this was called Xiao Jiang, which meant solemn and solemn.

Bypassing the Xiao Wall and coming to the county yard, I saw two courtyards on the left and right sides of the front yard. On one side was the plaque of "Yin Hotel", which was the post station of the county. On the other side was the county prison with a yin energy.

These two buildings that are incompatible with each other are opposite each other in the front yard, and they said silently: 'The only thing in common is that they can stay for free.' There is also a small land temple in the northeast corner of the yard, which is worshipped not the land elder, but several very special scarecrows. It was made by the Emperor Taizu who peeled off the corrupt official's skin and stuffed straw on the skin.

This horror thing is placed directly in the land temple. Every time a new official is in the process of visiting and admiring it to enhance his awareness of integrity.

Entering the second gate, you will reach the second entry of the county government. This is also the largest entry in the county government. It consists of two courtyards, east and west. Zhang County Magistrate, Chen Zhubu and Ma Dianshi each have a small courtyard as an office. It is also the office of the "House Official, Punishment and Military Worker" and the Sixth House Officer.

The granary, silver warehouse and trench warehouse of this county are also located here, and the guards are very strict.

After entering this time, I went in the next "Yimen Gate". After silent, I saw the lobby of the county government.

But in the middle of the corridor leading to the lobby, there was a small pavilion called "Jie Shi Pavilion". There was also a stone tablet engraved in the pavilion. The side of the monument facing outwards was engraved with three powerful words "Kong Shengming". When you go around behind, you will see that the monument was engraved with "Your salary and your salary, the people will be rich; the people will be easily abused, but God will be able to deceive you."
