Chapter 167 Continue to research and develop aviation

There are two most important test projects for these ongoing verification test drives, that is, water swallowing test drive.

As the name suggests, the water swallowing test run is to let the engine suck a lot of sand, water and other debris during the engine operation to develop the performance of the engine. Under such extreme conditions, the engine can withstand the test, whether it can operate stably, whether it will stop due to the parking, etc.

At this time, on the No. 2 test bench, an engine had been firmly fixed on it by the staff, and the engine had already been started.

In the control room of the No. 2 test drive, Professor Kao, Professor Dai and others were also staring at the data on the transparent screen in the control room.

Although the water swallowing verification has not begun at this time, the atmosphere in the control room at this time is already a bit serious.

After all, the development and test drive of water swallowing is a huge test for any engine.

Seeing that the engine had entered the cruising speed state, Professor Kao said to the controller: "It can be verified by swallowing water!"

"Yes!" the controller replied, and he immediately pressed the button to swallow water.

Then, he poked the professor and others. Through the huge transparent screen in the control room, it was clear that at the engine's air intake, a certain water curtain began to form, and countless water droplets were sucked into the air intake under the powerful suction force of the air intake.

Seeing this scene, whether it was Professor Kao or Professor Zhang, they were a little nervous. After all, the engine speed at this time had already reached the rated speed, and the temperature of the combustion chamber inside the engine was as high as thousands of degrees. Although this water will not cause a huge impact on the engine blades like ice, if a large amount of water enters, it can reduce the temperature of the combustion chamber and the turbine part, thereby affecting the efficiency of the engine.

Fortunately, Professor Kao and others' concerns seemed a bit redundant. Although many water droplets were already sucked in by the engine at this time, it did not cause the engine's power to drop. At the same time, national data, the temperature inside the engine did not drop, but the temperature inside the engine increased slightly.

Professor Kao knew that this was because the temperature and pressure inside the engine were too high, which caused the incoming water vapor to be quickly decomposed into hydrogen and oxygen under extremely high temperature and high pressure environments, and then quickly burned to become water again. The flame ejected from the tail of the engine was no longer pure orange, but a trace of blue in the orange yellow, which can be seen.

"Increase the amount of water swallowing!" At this moment, Professor Kao continued.

"Yes!" With Professor Po's order, the controller gradually increased the flow of the sprayed water flow.

As the amount of water swallowing increases, the water sucked into the engine air inlet naturally increases, and the original orange flame begins to turn light blue. Fortunately, the temperature inside the engine does not change qualitatively at this time, but it just returns to the original temperature.

However, there was no change in the professor's face. Instead, he continued to order the controller to increase the intensity of swallowing water until the output power of the engine and the temperature inside the engine changed.

It was not until this time that Professor Kao ordered the test run to stop. It was obvious that the water swallowing verification test run had been completed, and the next test will be carried out for projects such as ice swallowing and sand swallowing.

Of course, the engine used in the Ice and Sand Verification Test Drive will no longer be the engine that has just been tested for the Water Swallowing Test Drive.

In fact, in order to improve the efficiency of the test run and obtain sufficiently accurate data, each engine will have only one test run. Take the previous water-swallowing test run for example. After completing the verification, this developed machine will be sent to the assembly workshop for dismantling and analysis.

The subsequent ice swallowing test drive will be filled by other engines to continue verification.

So, under the attention of Professor Tam and others, this engine, which had just been tested for water swallowing, was quickly disassembled from the test drive table by the employees of the laboratory, and reinstalled the other engine on the test drive table and began to continue the test drive.

If it is a test of water swallowing, it is a test of the engine's operation in heavy fog or heavy rain, then ice swallowing and sand swallowing simulate the engine's operation in ice, snow or even deserts.

After the new engine was replaced, Professor Kao immediately issued the order to start the engine, and at this time their faces became more serious. After all, compared with the water swallowing test drive, the test drive of ice swallowing sand swallowing test drive, the test will be greater on the engine, and it can even be said to be an extreme test of engine performance.

After all, when the engine is running at an extremely fast speed, ice and sand are sucked in. This is a test of the limit for the engine's intake blades and other blades, including turbine blades. After all, when the engine rotates at such a high speed, if a slightly larger ice or gravel enters the intake passage and hits the blades, it will cause damage to the blades at a very high level, and in severe cases, it may directly destroy the engine.

Then, Professor Kao gave the order to start, and the controller naturally followed the order to open the simulated button.

As a result, many tiny ice cubes and snowflakes appeared at the engine's air inlet, and as time continued, these ice chips became more and more numerous and larger in size. Even some people even had ice chips the size of their little fingers.

These ice chips appear near the engine air intake duct, so naturally many ice chips are sucked into it by the air intake duct. And the professor and others heard the sound produced by these large diameter ice chips when they hit the inside of the air intake duct.

Although Professor Kao and others were very nervous about such verification and assessment, this test run was too rough. If it were an official laboratory, it would be impossible to conduct the test run in this way. You should know that he and the experts present knew very well that most of the ice chips that were conducted in the test run were ice chips with smaller diameters.

But among these ice chips, there are ice cubes with a diameter of about one centimeter! If it is a test run by an official unit, it is absolutely not possible, because everyone knows what such ice cubes mean to the engine.

Of course, as the person in charge of this verification test run, Professor Kao also disagrees with such a rough verification test run. He believes that their Tiangong Technology's test run should be the same as the official laboratory, as long as it can meet the official verification test run data.

But no matter what, although he is the person in charge of this aerospace engineering project, as a private enterprise, the final decision is still in Wang Bin's hands. Since Wang Bin insists on conducting such a verification test drive, he has no good idea.
