Chapter 006

Chi Xi turned around and clasped her fists: "I wonder what the little prince has to give?"

Wanyan Kang said gently: "I can't tell you the order, I just want to ask General Chi Xi to introduce the disaster to me."

Chi Xi nodded and recalled Hui Fang and introduced: "This year, the locust plague in Henan and the severe drought in Hebei. Since the Shangyuan Festival, the rain has not fallen, the plowing fields have been abandoned, the seedlings have dried up, and almost no harvest. Since June, disaster victims in various places have continued

When arriving in Beijing, according to the recent estimates of the Ministry of Revenue and Daxing Prefecture (Gyeonggi), the number of victims in the disaster is probably more than 150,000 or 60,000..."

Wanyan Kang sighed secretly when he heard this.

In ancient times when productivity was low, crops were harvested and the people did not receive effective relief, so they could only starve to death. No wonder outside the city of Zhongdu was like a thousand miles away, like a hell on earth.

Only then did he deeply understand that he was born in a peaceful and prosperous era in his previous life, even as an ordinary person, he never knew what hunger felt like. And the little prince who traveled through time and had no worries about food and clothing in this life was so happy for two lives.

Well...well, so God is still treating himself well.

When he was feeling in his heart, Chi Xi made a final summary: "Yesterday, the imperial court ordered the officials to pray for rain. From the emperor, all civil and military officials will reduce meals in plain clothes, meditate on their own mistakes, pray for heaven and earth, and hope that they will have it in the past or two months.

Heavy rain relieves the drought, so it’s better to replant some corn and grains as soon as possible, so that the situation will be better by the end of the year.”

After Chi Xi finished speaking, Zhiyuan closed his eyes and sighed: "Princess, little princess, this temple and several other temples in Zhongdu held a rain prayer ceremony in the middle of last month. Three thousand monks stayed asleep and chanted the scriptures.

For two days and nights, I only ask the World Honored One to be merciful, to bring down the rain early, and to save the suffering sentient beings."

"Namo Amitabha!"

As soon as Zhiyuan finished speaking, the other monks in the hall, including Bao, chanted the Buddha's name loudly.

Well, here it's again...

Wanyan Kang's mouth twitched.

Whether it is a rain prayer meeting or a rain prayer meeting, it is all nonsense. If God is so reasonable, why would so many people starve to death?

In this matter, your Buddha may not be more reliable than me.

He waited patiently for them to finish their thoughts piously before asking again: "Master, 60% of the food in the temple is only 540 stones. How many people can this food support and how long can it last?"

This is a very simple arithmetic problem.

If he hadn't had a good understanding of the weights and measures of this era, he wouldn't even ask.

As expected, Zhiyuan, the CEO of the large cultural and tourism enterprise in Anguo Temple, thought for a moment and gave the answer: "Based on the minimum daily limit for each person and only maintaining a living ration, it can be used to support 6,000 people for more than a month.

Of course, if you want to eat enough, it is a different matter, and the quantity must be reduced by half."

Wanyan Kangmo calculated carefully and derived from the answer given by Zhiyuan, what amount of the so-called 540 stones of grain stored there was probably.

As a logistics officer in his previous life, it was a daily job to take stock of military supplies, which should not be too common for him.

Each person has a minimum daily minimum of half a kilogram of grain, and the population of 6,000 consumes about 90,000 kilograms per month.

It is also a huge number, but when he thinks of the foreseeable huge number of victims, he knows that this is still far from it.

Wanyan Kang thoughtful.

"Little Prince, this is already the limit of this temple..."

Zhiyuan glanced at Wanyan Kang and lightly proclaimed the Buddha's name.

"I understand the difficulties in the temple and I will never force others to do so."

"However, I just walked around the temple with Master Juekong and found that there were many half-finished projects in the backyard... I was so sad, it was the unfinished buildings, facilities, and some buildings and pavilions that needed repair.

"If the young and strong among the victims were allowed to exchange labor for relief for food, could the temple take more food to provide relief for disasters?"

“Work-for-relief?”

Wanyan Kang looked frank: "Master, what I mean is, let the young and strong laborers among the victims work for the temple, complete the relevant construction you have not completed, help you repair your house, reclaim wasteland... etc., in short, you don't need to

Just give your wages and just give some food and drinks."

"In fact, if you are in normal times, you can also replace wages in physical goods. For example, cloth, various materials, livestock, etc., and you can even rent out wasteland and use rent-free instead of wages. These are different ways of using labor for relief."

"But today's disaster, what the victims need most is food that can survive."

"I understand..." Zhiyuan nodded slightly.

Liang Ziweng interrupted, "Monkey, this method is very wonderful. Anyway, the temple always has to hire people to start work. It is better to follow this method of using labor for relief. Not only do good deeds, but also use a little grain to obtain a large amount of cheap labor.

, why not do it?”

The concept of labor-for-relief proposed by Wanyan Kang sounds a bit ridiculous at first, but his simple and straightforward explanation later, plus Liang Ziweng's just right assist, let alone being as smart as Zhiyuan, even Bao understands that it is a good idea.

Mrs. Bao was happy and said, "It's hard for my son to come up with this method. I think it's feasible."

Chi Xi stood behind Bao without changing her face, and was really surprised: Is the little master really coming?

He thought Wanyan Kang was having a whim and was having fun. After all, he was famous for being a noisy person in the world, but now it seems that it is not.

This method of using labor for relief is indeed very good, which shows that he has seriously thought about disaster relief.

Wanyan Kang was a little proud.

This is a unique advantage of time travelers. The concept of labor-for-relief was common in previous lives, but it is very advanced and novel at the moment. It is easy to fool people like Zhiyuan, and the effect is very obvious.

In addition, he found that he really admired Liang Ziweng more and more.

He has strong abilities, high quality, and is also very good at speaking. In his previous life, he is definitely the most perfect five-star employee.

Well, especially when you meet a boss like yourself who knows and uses people well.

"What does the master think?"

Wanyan Kang stood up and walked closer to Zhiyuan, quietly waiting for his response.

Zhiyuan looked back at Wanyan Kang and said carefully: "The temple's stele forest, pagoda, hall, warehouse, back mountain Zen temple and other places began to be expanded last year, but it was difficult to find a hired worker due to the disaster, so it had to be suspended."

"If the disaster victims are young and strong... if they use labor instead of relief, our temple may take out another 20% of the food stored in 180 stones to provide relief."

More than 27,000 kilograms of grain were squeezed out!

Almost done.

Wanyan Kang stopped when he saw that he was ready and quickly bowed to Zhiyuan to thank him: "The master is righteous and wealthy, and he is really a living Buddha in this world!"

As soon as these words were spoken, all the monks took a breath: Live... Buddha?

How supreme is the Buddha? Even if there are some virtues in charge, how can he compare with the Buddha?

"Sin! What kind of virtue is this monk? How dare I call myself a Buddha? The little prince killed me!"

Wanyan Kang was stunned and said to myself that I just politely said, "Master, why should you take it so seriously?"

But he immediately woke up.

"Living Buddha" originated from Tibetan Buddhism in later generations, and its original meaning is "the Buddha who lives in the present world". In fact, it later became a kind of honorific title, with the "Immortal Chief" of Taoism, the "Mr." of Confucianism, and the "Master" of ordinary people.

, the meaning is actually the same.

It’s not that you call you a fairy and you are really a god.

But there is no such concept at this time, so the monks of course misunderstood.

Wanyan Kang scratched his head, and had to bite the bullet and quickly patched himself: "I have read a scripture written by Master Shengchang. The scripture says: All sentient beings have Buddha nature, and all these three realms have Buddha nature.

To develop the Bodhicitta, to conquer the future, to practice the Bodhisattva's practice, and to practice diligently. If you understand the mind and see the nature, everyone can attain Buddha..."

Ahem, I really can't remember it later...

Wanyan spread her hands, smiled awkwardly, and simply stopped reciting the scriptures: "I can't remember the specific scriptures anyway, so that's what it means."

Zhiyuan secretly breathed a sigh of relief and clasped his rituals: "Zhengchang Master? Why is this sutra? I would like to ask the little prince to give me advice!"

Wanyan Kang almost broke his defense after hearing this.

As the seventh ancestor of the Pure Land Sect of Han Buddhism, Master Shengchang was so famous that he was a great monk who was only a hundred years before the founding of the Jurchen country. Zhiyuan didn’t know?

When he looked up and saw the great monk with solemn anticipation, he said lightly: "The Commentary on the Great Nirvana Sutra of Master Shengchang's Wonderful Dharma."

"Good!"

Zhiyuan said solemnly: "Although I don't know about this ancestor of the Chang, I am a monk, but this sutra is exquisite and vast, and contains endless Zen opportunities. I beg the little prince to give it to you!"

All the monks present immediately followed and saluted: "I beg the little prince to give me the scriptures!"

Not to mention, these monks are like ritual ladies. They are very well-trained and have uniform movements, which shows that this great monk is authoritative in the temple.

Wanyan Kang agreed very happily: "Master, don't worry, when the disaster relief work comes to an end, I will go to the library to search. If I can't find it, I will definitely send someone to the temple in the south to find this scripture for the master.

He was fooling Zhiyuan with his mouth, but in his heart he was thinking about turning back and letting someone go to other temples to inquire about whether it was monks like Zhiyuan who were ignorant or did there be no such person as Master Shengchang in this world.

If the former is fine, I believe that you can find this sutra for a while sooner or later; if the latter is the latter, I can only laugh. Anyway, I can't make a brand new one for you, at most I can make up a few hundred books.

The meaning of sending other Buddhist scriptures is just that.

Can I still eat it?

Zhiyuan saluted again and said, "In this way, please ask the little prince!"

Finally, Wanyan Kang felt very tired and quickly turned back to the topic: "So, the master gave all his money to help the victims. This move can save thousands of people. It is of great merit. It is rare in ancient and modern times. It is called the living Buddha of the world.

Not an exaggeration at all.”

"Namo Amitabha!"
