Chapter 406 Elemental Fire

In the dimly lit temple corridor, the battle continued.

Both the Cheap God and the Ancient Grimoire had spoken. How could Downton refuse? He was worried that the statue would see its flaws, so he did not speak but accelerated his attack.

Downton didn't give an order, so his subordinates naturally wouldn't stop attacking, but the students breathed a sigh of relief and retreated.

"Hey, didn't the patron saint statue pass the test?" Toldo was surprised, "Why are you still fighting?"

Downton ignored him and blasted with his battle ax, making several dents on the body of the statue.

"Didn't you hear? I said you passed the test?" The statue's offensive weakened and turned to defense. He waved his hand to drive Downton and his party away, telling them to stop, "You can enter the temple."

"What? What did you say? Louder?"

Downton acted as if his eardrum had been ruptured, pretending not to hear what it said.

The adventurers did not dissuade him. They wished that Downton would cause more damage to the statue.

"He said we can go in." Toldo put his hand to his mouth and roared.

"Shut up!" Rose growled and glared at her classmates. This guy was really stupid. Didn't he see that Downton did it on purpose? He obviously wanted to kill the statue.

"Louder, I can't hear you clearly!"

Downton was perfunctory, but his movements were not slow, and he struck with another big windmill, causing the stone on the back of the neck of the statue to fall.

The temple is the altar of the God of Fire, and not just any miscellaneous fish can enter, so the duty of the guardian statue is not to kill, but to test. After Downton and his party passed, it gave up the attack and just defended passively, because this is its owner

It is given a mission, so even if its body is constantly broken after being beaten, it is only a defense.

"Isn't this statue too stupid?"

The adventurers sighed. However, they were not surprised. After all, the idols were not monsters or humans, but monsters similar to constructs. They did not activate their intelligence and only acted according to simple orders set by their masters.

"Full firepower!" Rose shouted and sped up her spell casting.

The statue was too big. Even if the mages couldn't lock eyes, they didn't have to worry about accidentally injuring their teammates. The dense arcane missiles and thunderbirds kept bombarding its chest, causing stone powder to peel off.

After Quasimodo parried the giant sword of the statue, he slashed it towards its ankle, and the sharp torn dragon teeth directly embedded one third of it.

"Look at me!"

Hutao violently struck with a series of attacks, and then with a bang, his ankle was completely shattered. The statue's body tilted and it fell to the ground.

"Stop, you have passed the test, there is no need to fight anymore!" The rigid statue repeated the words and protected its chest, which was its vital point.

What Downton and his men were best at was fierce attacks. During the pause in speaking, one-fifth of the statue's body was shattered, and one arm and one thigh were removed by the giant guard.

"Stop!"

The statue wanted to persuade him again. Downton launched his blazing meteorite and ejected into the sky, hitting its head.

boom!

The head was completely shattered. Only a headless body was left. After being severely injured by this blow, the reaction of the statue became even slower.

"It's over!" The Cheap God was very happy.

Before the statue was scrapped, it didn't even launch a counterattack. It cowered and was cut open in the chest by Downton with a knife, and the core buried in the heart was snatched away.

"Is this elemental fire?"

In Downton's hand was a baseball-sized spar. The whole stone was dark red, and there was a ball of orange flame inside, which exploded from time to time.

"Hey, it has indeed been too long, and the elemental fire is almost extinguished." The cheap god sighed. No wonder the guardian statue is so weak. After tens of thousands of years, its body looks intact, but in fact it has been weathered and eroded.

It will collapse at any time. If it were left in its heyday, even the strong men of the dragon-slaying level would not be able to defeat it.

"The long river of time will submerge everything. The dust of history is destined to turn into gravel and eventually lie on the dry river bed. Perhaps one day, it will be stepped on by a child, picked up, put into a transparent bottle, and placed

On the balcony, enjoy the sun bathing!" Homer recited a sentimental saying in a cadence.

"Okay, stop being so artistic!"

Downton threw it away casually, and the elemental arm appeared, grabbing the elemental fire and dragging it into the war space. As for how to distribute it, that was not his concern.

"After this temple expedition is over, I will distribute the spoils to you according to your contribution. If the spoils are not enough, they will be directly exchanged for gold coins." Downton glanced at everyone, "Don't worry, I won't let you come here in vain.

"

The giants signed a contract and received a fixed salary, but there are unwritten rules in the adventure world. Followers are eligible to receive a part of the loot during their adventures in secret realms and ruins.

Quasimodo and Jackson are servants, and even their lives belong to their masters, so they don't get this treatment. However, Downton is very generous and will not treat them badly.

"Jackson, go explore the road. Let's rest while walking and pay attention to replenishing your magic energy."

Although Hellfire's armor is very convenient, Downton is not prepared to take it off. If he encounters danger, even ten seconds may cause casualties.

"Where are we going? Can you tell me?" Rose noticed that Downton's actions were purposeful and couldn't help but ask.

As top students, no one is willing to hand over their lives to an unknown future.

"Of course it's the armory. I hope those teams will go to the main altar to compete for the divine fire. They haven't been to this area yet." Downton glanced back, "If you want to compete for the divine fire, you can leave at will!"

"Forget it, if you don't go, we won't have a chance." Toldo complimented Downton, but he actually meant it sincerely. Downton was so strong that he didn't even go, which also proved the difficulty of seizing the divine fire. They didn't want to

Go and die.

Downton has studied the structural drawings of hundreds of temples in the Great Library. Most important places, such as armories and supply warehouses, are usually located at the rear of the temple, or even several floors underground.

The advantage of this is that even if the temple is breached, the clergy can use the weapons in the armory to resist and wait until friendly forces support them.

Following this direction, coupled with the general map given by Elder Krupp, the team traveled smoothly, but no one was happy, because many corpses were found along the way, including those of scorpions, humans, and dragons.

Very fresh, definitely not more than ten days old.

"It seems that someone wants to go with you." Rose teased.

Downton shrugged his shoulders. There was no surprise. There were many smart people in the world. He was definitely not the only one who could think of this. And if the divine fire was not more important, there would probably be even more people coming.

The other adventure groups left and went to the main altar, so only the Fox of the West adventure group was left in the corridor. As dusk ended and darkness fell, everyone took out the magic stone lanterns, but every hundred meters, Downton would let Elaine

Fire a flare forward.

The legal system is worthy of being a high-end profession. Their staffs shine brightly, saving the effort of holding a lantern. Among them, Elaine's staff of faith is the brightest, and the whole body exudes a white luster, as eye-catching as a holy mark.

"Elaine, can you please stop making the staff so bright?" Downton reminded, "You are completely a target now!"

"As long as you are here, I will definitely be able to protect me." Elaine has already considered this issue, so she is not too worried. "The terrain around here is not suitable for sneak attacks, and the magic staff can illuminate a radius of one hundred yards. If there is a situation, it will be discovered early.

Oh, and if I encounter a sneak attack, the magic shield that comes with the scepter will pop up in time to protect me."

"Well, when I get back this time, I will catch the guardian beast for you." Downton nodded, "And helping Elaine summon the demon servant must also be put on the agenda."

Unlike melee professions that can only have one magic servant, magicians can summon many magic servants as long as they have enough magic energy and soul power. However, generally magicians determine the first magic servant to summon based on the magic they are good at, which makes up for it.

As for its own shortcomings, as for the others, it is to choose a magic servant that makes daily life more convenient.

For example, there is a kind of little evil demons living in the abyss. They are not low in intelligence and not very dangerous, so they are often caught by magicians in the mage tower and are responsible for daily tasks such as cleaning. They are even trained as experimental assistants.

You can be promoted at any job.

"Downton, you can choose a bishop-level magic." After absorbing the elemental fire, the cheap god was in a good mood and was much more generous than usual.

"Let me think about it first!" After Downton finished speaking, he laughed dumbly. Others were afraid that the sacrifices would not satisfy the gods and would not grant divine favor, so as long as they could get a divine favor, they would feel like they were hit by the goddess of luck.

It's a good thing for me that I dare to bargain with the cheap god.

"Hmph!" The Cheap God was depressed. He had almost lost all his divine power. If the Divine Fire was built here, how could he allow a human to be so offensive? His soul would have been shattered and turned into ashes.

"Don't be angry, I will try my best to help you rekindle the divine fire." Downton is not stupid. Only by coaxing the cheap god can he be taken care of. He is a god after all, so just sharing some experience will be of great benefit to him.

Homer's respect for the gods is not because of their identity, but because of their strength. Even the ancient grimoires are like this, so Downton naturally has no right to be arrogant.

"Master, there is an adventure group retreating ahead." Jackson hurried back to report, interrupting the conversation between Downton and the Cheap God.

"Come forward, everyone, prepare for battle." There was no shelter in the corridor, so Downton could only bite the bullet and asked, "How many people are there? What are their occupations?"

"I don't know, I encountered a scout!"

Five minutes later, the two parties met, and they were still acquaintances.

"Downton?" Everyone in the Cardinal Adventure Group was stunned for a moment when they saw Downton, and then breathed a sigh of relief. A battle could be avoided.

"Why go back? Is there a dead end ahead?" This group of people didn't even dare to mess with the Savage Garden. They were once blocked outside the canyon where Krupp lived, so Downton was not afraid of them at all.

"I advise you to leave. Green Sun is clearing the area in order to seize the armory. If you go there, you will definitely be dead." Leader Sepp seemed to remind him with good intentions, but Downton could hear the strong irritation.

"Hmph, you want us to fight and reap the benefits, right?" Downton asked. (To be continued...)
