438 War is nothing but a continuation of politics

Although the high elves are descendants of the high elves, Sarlayan truly feels that the high elves during the Dark Night Empire did all kinds of bad things and left many dark pits for the high elves who came after them.

The high elves have inherited many legacies of the upper elves, and naturally the pitfalls they left behind can only be inherited as well.

Helpless, Sharlayan used what he had learned in his life to explain to the furbolgs in detail the differences between Quel'Thalas and the Night Empire, and sincerely assured them that the intention to form an alliance was true and that there was no conspiracy behind it.

There is an old saying in another world, once bitten by a snake, you will be afraid of well ropes for ten years.

Although Sharlayan has repeatedly stated that Quel'Thalas has no ill intentions towards the grizzlymaw furbolgs, some of the clan chiefs are still suspicious of him.

Furbolgs are not immortals, and the Grizzly Hills are not in the center of ancient Kalimdor.

The original Catastrophe had little impact on the Grizzly Maw Furbolgs, and they had no real sense of the collapse of the Dark Night Empire.

However, many of the grey-throated furbolgs' ancestors had personally experienced the Shandalar explosion so close at hand.

For a long time since then, the entire Northrend was filled with strange arcane energy.

Fortunately, the remains of Vordrassil actively absorbed a lot of alien energy, and finally restored the balance between natural and arcane energy in this land in a few hundred years.

The lessons from the past are still close at hand, and Sharlayan can understand the greymaw furbolg's concerns.

But understanding does not mean agreement.

If Quel'Thalas mobilizes its entire army, it may not be possible to defeat Zul'Drak.

However, a frontal attack will definitely cause considerable damage to the High Elves' army, but the High Elves cannot afford to kill anyone.

If there are furbolgs to contain them from the flanks, Quel'Thalas' construction of Crystalsong Forest can go more smoothly, and perhaps it can gain a foothold before the Drakkari trolls withdraw from the two-front battlefield.

As long as the defenses can be built in advance, Sharlayan does not believe that the Drakkari trolls can easily break through.

Considering the low birth rate of the high elves, Quel'Thalas does not have much need for territorial expansion. One Crystalsong Forest is enough to fill it for a long time.

In other words, Kael'thas and Sharlayan have little interest in the land of Zul'Drak, and they do not intend to actively invade the territory of the Drakkari trolls.

However, there is a saying that the tree wants to be still but the wind does not stop.

Quel'Thalas wants to farm behind closed doors, but the Drakkari trolls will just watch you develop?

Just think too much.

The aggressiveness of trolls is second only to orcs. In the current world, almost all races have had or are in conflict with trolls. The only difference is that they face different troll clans.

On the planet Azeroth, eating, sleeping and fighting trolls is not just a simple joke.

The hatred between elves and trolls can be traced back to more than 10,000 years ago, and the huge shame Azshara made the trolls feel will not dissipate easily.

Once they encounter the elves, no matter which clan the trolls are, they will attack like crazy. This is not a problem that Quel'Thalas can solve by sending diplomatic envoys and negotiating peace.

...and maybe that diplomatic envoy will end up in the belly of the Drakkari troll.

Since peace with the trolls was destined to be impossible, Sharlayan planned to strike first.

Not to mention destroying the Drakkari, we must at least weaken their war potential and ensure that the large-scale construction of Crystalsong Forest can proceed smoothly.

The greymaw furbolgs occupy a very important position in Sharlayan's plans, and their alliance cannot be compromised.

Sharlayan tried his best to explain his views to the furbolgs from many aspects such as diplomacy, economy and trade, geopolitics, and the military threat of trolls.

Although furbolgs look a bit silly, they are actually a highly intelligent race.

They all saw Sarlayan's unreserved sincerity, and Sarlayan's laborious explanation was not completely ineffective.

From the passionate opposition at the beginning, to the quarrels with different opinions, and now the silence that has calmed down after the exhaustion of the quarrel.

The attitude of the Grizzly Maw Furbolg changed very obviously, and Sharlayan finally saw the hope of establishing an alliance.

After a long silence, the old shaman with red teeth who had been keeping his eyes closed before finally opened his cloudy eyes.

The shaman named Pike Redmane has entered the twilight years of his life and is over 70 years old this year.

He witnessed with his own eyes the rule of five chiefs, and the intermittent war with the Drakkari trolls made him increasingly tired.

Continuing the fight like this is not an option. Pike doesn't want to stop fighting until the population on both sides can no longer bear the losses.

Pike wanted to change this endless cycle and beat the Drakkari trolls once and for all so that they would never dare to covet Grizzly Hills again.

Countless times in the past, history has proven that the greymaw furbolgs alone are not enough, they need allies.

Pike grew up listening to the stories of the night elves. When he was young, he imagined that he could get the help of the night elves, the furbolg's traditional allies, to defeat the Drakkari troll army in one fell swoop.

However, until Pike was nearly eighty years old, he had never seen a night elf. They seemed to be creatures that only existed in legends.

From the moment he saw the incarnation of Ursoc in Sarlayan, Pike had an inexplicable sense of apocalypse.

This high elf who unintentionally learned the incarnation of Ursoc may be the son of Apocalypse sent by the great god Ursoc to rescue the Grizzly Maw Furbolg from the spiral of war and hatred.

Although Pike is the chief shaman of the Red Fang Clan, one of the two major clans in the Grizzly Hills, he alone does not count and must be recognized by most of the clan chiefs and shamans.

Seeing that everyone had calmed down from their initial impulsive objections and returned to reality, Pike finally spoke up unhurriedly.

"I favor an alliance with Quel'Thalas."

"What?!"

A certain young and energetic chief immediately slapped the table and stood up.

"Old Pike! Have you forgotten the ancestral teachings left by your ancestors? The upper elves are not trustworthy!"

Pike raised his white eyebrows and rolled his eyelids, his eyes seemingly unfocused as he stared at the young man who objected.

"Do descendants of the Highborne have to be equated with the Highborne?"

"Just like we have different clans, different opinions and styles of doing things."

"As far as I know, the ancient high-level elves were divided into six major cities, and their behavior styles were not exactly the same."

"We are only hostile to the high elves of Shandalar. Is there really an inevitable connection between them and the high elves of Quel'Thalas?"

"Boom!"

Pike lightly punched his staff on the ground: "Chief Brightmane, your father and grandfather both died in the battle with the Drakkari trolls."

"Do you hope that your sons and grandsons will continue to engage in endless wars in the future, and let them die at the hands of trolls, and they may not even be able to keep their whole bodies?"

"this……"

A different world sand sculpture netizen said something very reasonable.

War is just a continuation of politics.

Except for madmen, no one wants war to happen around them.

The reason why the Drakkari trolls have not given up on expanding southward is because they believe that they can defeat the grizzly-maw furbolgs, who are also mortals, and will not be as desperate and powerless as they were when facing the Iron Army.

Drakkari's political desire is to expand its territory and take the Grizzly Hills as its own.

This is obviously contrary to the grizzly-throated furbolg's political claim to defend the territory. If the two sides cannot reach an agreement, they can only speak with their strength on the battlefield.

Sarlayan wanted to be flanked by two sides and beat the Drakkari trolls painfully at once, forcing them to enter the training period to restore their population in advance.

This strategic goal cannot be achieved by either Quel'Thalas or the Greymaw furbolgs alone. Even if they barely succeed, they will pay an unbearable price.

Under Pike's unhurried persuasion, the chiefs and shamans who had long been tired of the war were finally persuaded, and their cold and hard attitudes softened significantly.

However, some people still can't get over the hurdle in their hearts. The Red Fang and Frostclaw clans, who took the lead in agreeing to form an alliance, still need some time to explain to those stubborn people who insist on their own opinions.

After reaching a preliminary intention to form an alliance, Sharlayan exchanged contact information with the Grizzly Maw Furbolg.

Furbolgs do not have the same privileges as high elves and can travel directly across Dragonblight to Crystalsong Forest and Grizzly Hills.

Starting from the normal route, there is only one way from Grizzly Hills to Crystalsong Forest.

This road must cross the outer layer of Zul'Drak, and Drak'saron Fortress is in the middle of the road.

Before sending Sarlayan away, Pike's seemingly cloudy eyes flashed with light.

"Mr. Deep Shadow, if Quel'Thalas wants to maintain the long-term alliance with the Grizzly Maw Furbolgs and open up regular trade routes between them as you said, we must capture the building stained with the blood of the Furbolgs.

The Fortress of Draxalon."
