Chapter 4 Back

Early the next morning, Lin Yi wiped his face with cold water in the bathroom. When he came out, Lin Guoqing asked him: "Did you not sleep well yesterday?"

It was probably Lin Yi who noticed the movement when he went out at night.

"No, I slept well."

Lin Yi is indeed in high spirits and looks very energetic.

Lin Guoqing didn't say much, because when the first ray of sunshine appeared in the morning, the train finally arrived at its destination:

Beijing West Railway Station.

The father and son took their luggage and got off the bus along with the crowd of people, and then searched back and forth in the pick-up area.

Recently, the major universities in Beijing have started school together. We can see that many schools have signs for accepting new students. They found the sign of "Beijing University of Electronic Science and Technology" without any effort.

It seems that all the boys rush to take over the station job. The reason is that everyone knows Sima Zhao’s heart.

Fortunately, the boy from Jingdian was very dedicated and received them warmly and pointed out the location of the school bus to them.

After Lin Yi and the others got on the bus, they waited for a while, until the bus was full of people, and then they drove steadily out of the West Station. The main route was the West Third Ring Road.

It was also Lin Guoqing's first time in the capital. He wanted to look out the car window curiously, but he restrained his unstable thoughts and tried hard to maintain the dignity of a father.

West Railway Station is actually not far from Jingdian, but when taking a train in Beijing, don’t be overly optimistic until you reach your destination.

So Lin Guoqing's first impression of it was: "The capital is so congested."

Lin Yi casually complained: "The roads in Beijing are like this. They can be blocked at any time and at any time. There is no such thing as peak and non-peak hours."

Although Lin Guoqing felt a little strange about Lin Yi's familiar tone, he was still pleased with his adaptability.

"Then it's better for us in Lin'an."

Lin Yi shook his head and said nothing. In fact, the traffic in Lin'an will become like this in a few years.

The bus stopped and went, and it took more than half an hour before it entered the school gate and sent a car full of freshmen and their parents directly to the parking lot.

The school's procedures are well prepared. Students are here to guide them as soon as they get off the bus, taking them to the square to report and go through the admission procedures.

Lin Yi took out his ID card and admission notice. After checking, the staff registered him and then issued him a campus card, student ID card, and "New Student Guide".

After quickly completing the process, the staff on site was about to point out the location of the dormitory building to them when they discovered that Lin Yi had already led Lin Guoqing in that direction.

The father and son quickly found their destination. It was a six-person room with bunk beds. The conditions were just like that. After all, it was an old campus.

When he entered the door, he found that there was already a boy inside. He turned around and looked over and said hello cheerfully:

"Hello, do you live in this room too? I'll sleep on the upper bunk, so we'll be roommates from now on."

Lin Yi recognized this guy.

He felt that he might be related to the "strong man" because the man in front of him was also 1.9 meters tall like Lao Xiong, and the bed he slept on was an extra-long one.

"Hello, it seems that I am your lower bunk."

Lin Yi confirmed the bed location through the sticker and threw his luggage on the bed board.

The guy was as familiar as ever: "My name is Li Jianguo, and I'm from Binzhou, Northeast China. How about you, classmate?"

"Call me Lin Yi. I'm from Lin'an, Zhijiang. That's my dad."

Li Jianguo blinked. He had actually just looked around at the dormitory labels, and that was not the name posted on the bed.

However, he was not too casual when the parents were here and called out politely:

"Hello, uncle."

Father Lin nodded in response: "Hello, are you here alone?"

"No, my mother sent me here. She just left after settling in. When I came here in the morning, two beds had been made. They should have arrived yesterday, but I don't know where they are now."

He took the initiative to share everything he knew.

Lin Yi didn't chat much, just said hello and followed Lin's father downstairs to buy a bunch of daily necessities such as sheets, quilts, towels and toothbrushes.

After finishing the work, it was almost noon. Lin Yi and Lin Guoqing went to the canteen downstairs to buy a temporary dining card, then selected a few dishes and made two bowls of rice.

The two of them ate very quickly, and then Lin Guoqing gave some instructions at his seat:

"I just took a look and the prices in supermarkets and canteens are okay. They are only slightly more expensive than Lin'an. It's understandable that this is the capital after all."

"You forgot to take out the mosquito net your mother asked you to carry. Remember to hang it up when you go up. There are still a lot of mosquitoes in this weather."

"That Li Jianguo just now seems to have a lively personality. You should get along well with your classmates. People of your generation don't have brothers and sisters, so they all rely on these classmates to help each other. We have been roommates for four years in college. This is all fate."

"You have to take control of your studies. When we were studying in the past, the teacher said that if you study mathematics, physics and chemistry well, you will be able to travel all over the world. In the future, you will still have to have skills when you join the society."

He worked hard to impart his life experience, which may not be very clever at all, but Lin Yi listened obediently and nodded in agreement.

Lin Guoqing originally wanted to ask about Gu Caiwei. Lin Yi had told them Gu Caiwei's whereabouts, but Lin's father couldn't think of anything he could tell him about this long-distance relationship.

So he just added in the end: "The living expenses for this semester will be transferred to that bank card together with the tuition fees, and they will be given to you in one lump sum."

"Your mother and I both think you should learn to manage your own money at this age, and we believe you can make good plans."

"But don't be embarrassed when you really don't have enough money. Just call home. Don't go hungry."

"A poor family wants to be rich. We don't do that kind of thing to make people look fat, but we shouldn't spend too much money."

This time he finished explaining all the things he wanted to explain. He patted his thigh and prepared to leave: "Okay, then you can go up. I will go home soon."

Lin Yi hesitated for a moment: "You are too tired to catch the train back and forth like this. Do you want to stay nearby for one night and leave tomorrow?"

Lin Guoqing waved his hand: "No, accommodation in the capital must be quite expensive. Besides, didn't you sleep all the way here last night?"

In the end, Lin Yi was unable to change Lin's father's decision and had to send him out of school.

Watching the figure he had known since childhood gradually fade away, he felt a sense of loss, and the faint excitement in his heart that "the sea is vast enough for fish to leap, and the sky high enough for birds to fly" also faded away.

Lin Guoqing asked for directions and took the subway back to the Beijing West Station where he had just left half a day ago.

He smoked a cigarette in the bustling station square and stayed for five minutes, browsing an ordinary and inconspicuous part of this great city.

Then he put out his cigarette butt and found the ticket office of the station.

"Comrade, please give me the nearest bus ticket to Lin'an City."

The staff member at the window didn’t even raise his head. He was typing on the keyboard and asked:

"What kind of seats do you want?"

"It's a hard seat."
