Chapter 94 Unpretentious

When Teacher Tang was talking, the old lady sat next to her without saying a word. She nodded when Gu Caiwei asked her.

"Really, Master, where are you from Yuezhou? I am..."

Lin Yi didn't expect such a recognition process, so he glanced at Teacher Tang's face next to him.

Teacher Tang didn't take it seriously, but sighed with emotion: "There are not many people in your hometown, and I haven't been back for some years. It's rare to meet a fellow villager, and it's quite cordial to chat with him in his hometown dialect."

"The Yuezhou dialect is quite nice when you speak it. It sounds like singing in an opera. Your wife used to like listening to Yuezhou opera the most."

He raised his head slightly, showing a reminiscing look, as if he was remembering some past events from his youth.

Gu Caiwei's eyes lit up when she heard this: "I can sing Yue Opera. Can I sing it for you, Master?"

Teacher Tang was surprised: "You can sing Yue Opera? It's hard to find young people who can listen to this nowadays."

"My mother used to sing Yue Opera, and I studied it for several years when I was a child." Gu Caiwei was embarrassed to say that Ms. Gu Changge said she was a three-legged cat.

The old lady was noncommittal, but the old man became interested and waved his hand expectantly:

"Come on, try it."

Gu Caiwei was not one for stage fright. She cleared her throat and opened her mouth: "I have a little girl in my family who is admirable for her intelligence. She is an expert at depicting dragons, embroidering phoenixes, and can play chess, calligraphy, and painting..."

This is the classic aria "There is a Little Ninth Sister in My Family" from the famous Yue Opera "Butterfly Lovers". It tells the story of Zhu Yingtai, who disguises herself as a man and uses the name of Little Ninth Sister to guide Liang Shanbo to propose marriage to her.

Lin Yiyi knew nothing about traditional opera, but Yue opera was based on the local dialect of Yuezhou, so he could probably understand the lyrics.

The old man had closed his eyes and was shaking his head in great enjoyment.

The old lady didn't have as many scenes as him, but she still listened with great concentration.

The aria was not long, so Gu Caiwei showed some modesty for herself after finishing the song: "I don't sing well, please bear with me, Teacher Tang and my wife."

Teacher Tang was still immersed in the atmosphere just now and felt that he still lacked a folding fan. The old man asked with great interest:

"Indeed, it's almost meaningless. But I can tell by your appearance that your mother's appearance is the same. What kind of celebrity is she?"

Gu Caiwei shook her head: "My mother is not a famous person of any kind. When she was young, she wanted to join the Yue Opera Troupe but failed, so she stopped singing later."

"What a pity, what a pity."

The old lady seemed very satisfied. Gu Caiwei chatted with her in Yuezhou dialect for a while. Teacher Tang looked at his watch:

"Thank you for today. You two are here to relieve our boredom. The afternoon class is about to start. You should go back to the classroom quickly. I also have classes to attend in the afternoon."

Lin Yi couldn't get a word in at all just now, and now he was ready to say goodbye with Gu Caiwei.

Gu Caiwei was still a little reluctant to leave, so she asked: "Master, are you still here this afternoon?"

The old lady glanced at the old man, then nodded and said, "I'll go back together after Old Tang gets off work."

"Then I'll see you again in the afternoon, Master."

Teacher Tang didn't appreciate this, he waved his hand: "You have a good class this afternoon, go quickly."

On the way back, Gu Caiwei kept mumbling: "Lin Yi, I think my wife looks so gentle, like a grandma I met in my hometown during the Chinese New Year."

Lin Yi didn't know why they were so close to each other: "She is your grandma at the same age, and she didn't praise you for singing well just now?"

Gu Caiwei puffed her lips, but she was praising you.

She decided to ignore Lin Yi, but after taking two steps, she thought of an idea and immediately shared it with him:

"I remembered that on Teacher's Day last year, the class monitor said that Teacher Tang didn't even ask for the greeting card given to him by our class. Do you think I could give it to Mrs. Tang in the afternoon?"

Lin Yi was noncommittal. After returning to the classroom, Gu Caiwei went to find Jiang Zixuan's greeting card from last year.

"let me see……"

"I think I left it in the dormitory. I'll go get it for you after the fourth period."

The class monitor sometimes looks childish, but actually he does things very safely. Even if he didn't want the greeting card he wrote for Teacher Tang, he didn't just throw it away.

So after the afternoon class ended, Gu Caiwei urged Jiang Zixuan back to the dormitory and found the greeting card. She looked at it and added:

"I wish Teacher Tang and Mrs. Tang to raise their eyebrows and grow old together!" A cute bunny expression was also drawn on the back.

Then he handed it to Lin Yi: "Write a sentence too, hurry up."

Lin Yi took it, looked at it, and complained: "This old couple has grown old together."

"Do not talk nonsense!"

Okay, Lin Yi added another sentence in the blank space: "I wish Teacher Tang and Mrs. Tang good health and a long life!"

"It's really uncreative." came the counterattack from Gu Caiwei.

"It's better to keep it simple. The best wishes are unpretentious."

The whole greeting card was already full, but it was actually a bit nondescript because other students wrote with the theme of "Happy Teachers' Day".

"How about writing a new one?" Lin Yi suggested.

"Forget it, if it's too late they should leave, hurry up." Gu Caiwei was so angry that she had to drag Lin Yi along.

When they arrived, it turned out that Teacher Tang and his wife were packing their things. Gu Caiwei quickly handed over the greeting card with both hands:

"Teacher's wife, this is what we and the other students in the class want. Please accept it."

The old lady glanced at the old man, not sure if he recognized it as the greeting card she had given him, but he nodded and said:

"It's for you, you can make your own decision."

So she took it and Gu Caiwei took the initiative to spread it out: "Teacher, please take a look. These two sentences were written by him and me."

The old lady shook her head: "I can't read."

"Uh...ah?"

Gu Caiwei was caught off guard and didn't pick up the call.

Lin Yi was actually surprised, but this reaction was too rude. He immediately said: "Teacher's wife, how about the two of us read it to you?"

"Okay, okay, I don't blame you. You haven't had dinner yet, right? Go quickly, otherwise the food in the cafeteria will be cold. I will read it to her when I go back."

Teacher Tang bombarded people again.

"Teacher, will you still come to school? Can I come see you next time?" Gu Caiwei asked cautiously.

The old lady nodded, and this time she spoke a little longer: "Old Tang has a bad stomach and can't get used to school food. I often make it at home and send it to him."

Gu Caiwei felt relieved and the two of them said goodbye and left.

Not to mention how Gu Caiwei reflected and regretted after going out, Teacher Tang and the old lady had already packed their things in the office, and the old man headed out immediately.

The old lady thought about the question before she got up. She really didn't mind, but to be precise, she actually knew a few words, such as...

She glanced at the upper right corner of the teacher's desk. It was the nameplate of the office, making it easier for students who came here for the first time to find someone. There were three words written on it:

Tang Peiying.
