Chapter 128 The murderous doctor

Source of "War Photographer's Notes":

In the early morning of April 28, nine Jewish children, with the help of six Jewish women, washed their bodies in the tent, carefully applied eczema treatment ointment to all parts of their bodies, and then each put on a clean coat.

Wearing hospital gowns, before dawn, under the cover of thick morning fog and approaching gun smoke, he got into the basement of the ruined clinic.

In another ruins more than 20 meters away from the tent, Father Hans skillfully lit a bonfire, slowly heated the sterilizer, and dutifully steamed various medical instruments inside.

On another bonfire in the next room, two large pots transformed from diesel barrels have been boiled with clean water that Wei Ran and Marco brought back from the river not long ago. In addition to drinking, most of the water is used for drinking.

It should be used to steam and sterilize cleaned gauze for secondary use.

In the tent set up at the end of the alley, the sleeping Mario and the little Jewish girl Maura were carried to the bed again. After Dr. Lodge covered them each with a blanket, he motioned to Wei Ran to follow him and leave the tent.

"It's time to collect the nets." Dr. Lodge yawned, bent down and picked up the fishing net dug out of the ruins, and asked Wei Ran to follow him towards the river.

"Doctor Rocky, let me go. You haven't rested all night." Wei Ran said as he took the fishing net from the other party's hand.

"It doesn't matter"

Dr. Lodge waved his hands carelessly and said while walking ahead, "We need to stock up on more food before the Soviets come. After we take back the net, Aunt Marco will send it over

Those who have food and drink must also find a place to hide them as soon as possible. We can’t really expect the Soviets to forgive us because of the red cross.”

"Whoever does the first grade will do the fifteenth grade."

Wei Ran muttered to himself, and silently followed Dr. Lodge over the artificially piled ruins, carefully came to the river, dropped the fishing net, and then picked up the net thrown away yesterday.

"Did we catch a big fish? Why is this net so heavy?" Wei Ran asked as he pulled the rope hard.

"Where can there be any big fish?" Doctor Rocky frowned, turned around and dragged the rope forward with all his strength.

In the sound of rushing water, the two of them pulled the fishing net ashore, and then they noticed that in addition to a few freshwater fish, there was also a corpse wrapped in the net!

"Go behind that wall"

Doctor Rocky gave a low command, and he and Wei Ranli dragged the heavy fishing net and hid behind the broken wall on the opposite side of the road. Under the weak light of the flashlight, they untied the fishing net bit by bit.

"He's a Soviet guy"

Wei Ran pulled out a Bobosha submachine gun from the fishing net and threw it aside. With the help of Dr. Rocky, he extracted the body with a bullet in the chest.

Carefully taking off a grenade from the fishing net, Dr. Lodge stuffed the net wrapped with small fish into his bag and said worriedly as he walked back, "The situation is not good. It seems that the Soviets have already hit them."

It's across the river. We have to hide our things as soon as possible."

"I'll go to the cinema later and ask those soldiers to come over and help." Wei Ran followed and said.

"No, you can't use them."

Dr. Lodge shook his head without thinking, and while pulling out his Luger pistol from his waist, he said, "Let the women come up, and we will move the supplies to the basement. Victor, run back now and notify

Everyone, hurry up and move your things, I'll be here to guard, if anyone comes over I will shoot."

"Then be careful."

Wei Ran let go of the canvas bag containing the fishing nets and returned to the open space at the end of the alley as quickly as possible, calling for Hans and others to quickly move the supplies.

With the help of everyone, boxes of food and medicine were delivered to the basement in the ruins of the clinic, covering the entire basement floor which was not that big.

"boom!"

A clear gunshot came from the direction of the alley entrance, and everyone's hearts trembled. Wei Ran quickly put down the box in his hand, picked up the submachine gun placed not far away and ran in the direction of Dr. Rocky, while Father Hans waited

People also quickly organized the few women who came out to help to hide back in the basement.

"Doctor Rocky, what's wrong?" Wei Ran asked, hiding behind a half-section of the wall.

"It's okay, it's just a misunderstanding." Dr. Lodge responded in a loud voice, "It's the wounded soldiers sent by the soldiers guarding the bridge. I thought it was the Soviets coming over."

"Tell them not to shoot, I'm coming out." After Wei Ran finished speaking, he slowly raised the submachine gun in his hand and looked in the direction of the tent behind him until he saw the flashlight of the flashlight in the thick fog.

Completely stood up.

"How many wounded?" Wei Ran asked pretending to be nervous.

"One, just one." A strange voice shouted, and then led by Dr. Lodge, he walked out of the thick fog.

Glancing at the soldier being carried over on a stretcher by two other German soldiers, Wei Ran frowned slightly. Just by looking at the ugly and heavy metal sign hanging around his neck, he knew that this was an unpopular chain dog.

Unfortunately, the chain dog's wound was not serious, it was just a bullet in the thigh. Not only was his life in danger when he was carried here, he even screamed in agony.

"Dr. Victor, you go ahead and sterilize the instruments, and I'll do the surgery." There was even a trace of indifference in Dr. Lodge's calm tone.

"good..."

Wei Ran suppressed the weirdness in his heart and watched the two soldiers send the wounded into the tent before looking for Father Hans who continued to sterilize the medical equipment.

"What did you say? Send me a chained dog?" Father Hans frowned at first, and then a strange look appeared on his old face.

"What's wrong?" Wei Ran took the medical equipment handed over and asked in confusion.

"Nothing." Father Hans waved his hand, "Go and send it to him."

Entering the tent with doubts, the chained dog had been given morphine. Doctor Lodge was slowly cutting open the clothes near the wound.

Wei Ran, who was about to ask something, nodded, silently helped light the gas lamp, turned around and walked out of the tent.

Almost as soon as he walked out of the tent, Dr. Lodge had already picked up a scalpel, cut open the wound roughly, and accurately found the vein on his thigh.

The sharp scalpel lightly scratched the blood vessel, and dark red blood gurgled out with the beating of the heart. But Dr. Lodge poked the scalpel into the wound, then lit a cigarette and stood on the hospital bed.

Beside him, he looked quietly at the chain dog lying on the hospital bed.

Time passed one by one, and the blood flowing out from the wound had flowed along the edge of the hospital bed into the small bucket placed under the bed, and the chain dog also began to tremble continuously.

Throwing the burnt cigarette butt into the iron bucket, Dr. Lodge looked at the chained dog on the hospital bed indifferently, then crossed his hands and pressed on the other person's chest using cardiopulmonary resuscitation. He pressed hard again and again to assist the other person's chest.

The heart beats to pump more blood out of the severed blood vessels at the wound!

Finally, when the chain dog's wound could no longer flow any blood, and when he completely stopped breathing, Dr. Lodge pulled out the scalpel from the wound, picked out the bullet inside, and then lifted up the body.

The sheets stained red with blood were rolled up in random directions.

"Soldier, take him out." Dr. Lodge explained with regret, "His blood vessel was broken, and I couldn't save him."

The two soldiers who had been waiting outside the door heard the words and got into the tent. They looked regretfully at the body that had been wrapped in sheets, and silently carried it to the stretcher by the window and sent it out of the tent.

Watching the two soldiers carrying the body and disappearing into the morning mist, Dr. Lodge, who didn't even wear gloves, took off the stethoscope hanging around his neck and left a clear mark on it with the blood-stained scalpel.

mark.

There are two shiny rings on the spring leaf of this stethoscope. As the scalpel leaves marks on it, the two rings collide with each other and make a pleasant sound.

Throwing the scalpel directly into the iron bucket under the bed, Dr. Lodge hung up the stethoscope again, then opened his collar, took out a heart-shaped women's necklace and looked at it. A trace of big smile briefly appeared on his no longer young face.

The relief of revenge.

"The 28th one..."

Dr. Rocky stuffed the necklace back into his collar, and walked out of the tent filled with the smell of blood and nicotine in despair. He stumbled and sat under the remaining brick walls of the ruined clinic, muttering to himself as if madly, "It's not enough, it's still far away."

not enough..."

Behind the broken wall with a bonfire burning in the distance, Wei Ran looked at Father Hans aside. The latter sighed, turned around and sat by the bonfire and continued to cook the equipment waiting to be sterilized. After a long time, he said to himself

General explained, "Dr. Lodge's wife and daughter were killed by a chained dog in this alley. The chained dog was even his neighbor before he took office."

"This..." Wei Ran opened his mouth and didn't know what to say for a moment.

"Okay, send these over."

Father Hans didn't expect Wei Ran to say anything. He used two pairs of tweezers to lift out the tray from the sterilizer, poured all the steaming medical instruments into a large chrome-plated metal box and handed it to Wei Ran.

When he walked out of the ruins carrying the hot metal box, red sunlight also emerged from the horizon, reflecting a semi-circular outline in the thick fog. And in the direction of the alley entrance, the two people who were imprisoned yesterday

The soldiers who had been left behind to carry the stretcher also walked through the fog that was beginning to dissipate, ready to start their new day's work.

"It's the 28th, and the war is almost over."

Wei Ran glanced at the direction of the alley entrance. The Soviet Red Army would be able to capture the Moltke Bridge tonight, and by tomorrow morning at the latest, the place might be occupied.

"Yeah, it's almost over."

Dr. Lodge walked over and asked, "Victor, after the war is over, do you want to come work in my clinic?"

"Going to work in your clinic?" Wei Ran looked at the ruins behind the two of them and couldn't help but ask, "After the war is over, are you still planning to open a clinic?"

Doctor Rocky spread his hands and asked with a happy face, "Why not? This is a very fulfilling job, isn't it?"

Wei Ran smiled and said, "As long as you don't dislike my suturing skills."

"You reminded me." Dr. Lodge patted his forehead in annoyance, "I didn't tell you that I really can't stand your suturing skills."
