Chapter 597 The new scapegoat

It's almost time to start school.

News of the new British youth representative of the Wizengamot has been bombarded for more than half a month, and finally a more important replacement has emerged.

His name was known throughout Europe.

He is graceful and talented, and he is the dream lover in the eyes of countless witches.

But all that has passed.

Now he is a heinous criminal who attempts to open a secret room and plan a campus massacre.

On the morning of August 29th,

The gloomy Tenth Courtroom was filled with prominent figures in the British wizarding world.

Of course Rita was there and was one of the first to enter.

The most eye-catching person in the audience was, of course, Lockhart sitting in front of the trial bench.

More than half a year later, his condition was very bad.

Her hair was messy, dry and dull, and there was a large bald patch on the back of her head.

He looked horrified, as if he had been severely interrogated.

There were more than a dozen wizards on the witness stand who had been casted by him on the Forgetting Curse, as well as several teachers and students of Hogwarts.

Sitting at the front was Dumbledore, followed by Vincent and Sprout, and finally Snape, the employee representative, and Harry, the student representative.

In addition to members of the Wizengamot, the jury also included representatives from the International Confederation of Wizards.

The enlarged auditorium was filled with people.

A small number of them are ardent fans who still believe in Lockhart's innocence, but more of them are well-known wizards invited by the Ministry of Magic.

For example, Damocles Belby, who invented the Wolfsbane potion during the First Wizarding War and was awarded the Order of Merlin.

Another example is the Scamander family, which has made great contributions to the British wizarding world.

Lucius sat in the middle with his wife and children.

Next to them were Old Flint and his family, and Mrs. Zabini also came with her son Blaise.

The Greengrass and Rozier families were sitting in the row in front of them, and Weasley, Longbottom, Abbott, and MacMillan were waiting in the row behind them.

As for Carlo, Travers, Avery, etc., they almost sat in the last row.

Of course not all the twenty-eight sacred families were present.

Gaunt, Rolle, Black, and Lestrange were not there, and Horace Slughorn, who told the truth about the Horcruxes, also did not show up.

Seeing that the time was almost up, Fudge, dressed in black robe, stood up from the trial seat.

His expression was extremely serious, "Please keep quiet, it is trial time for the Supreme Wizarding Court in the UK."

Lockhart looked up at the trial seat.

The presiding judge is Cornelius Fudge, Minister of Magic, and the deputy judge is Amelia Bones. Even the judges are senior officials of the Ministry of Magic.

Such a lineup has not appeared for more than ten years, and it is destined to write a mark in history.

But Lockhart was confused now and just nodded when faced with Fudge's question.

There was no luster in his eyes, as if he had already known the outcome in advance.

Facing the stern questions from the victims who personally cast the Forgetting Spell, he just nodded silently.

It's like he has completely lost hope, like a walking corpse.

"Mr. Lockhart, do you admit that you appropriated the deeds of the victims and profited yourself by publishing a series of books and other means?"

"I admit it." He replied without any emotion.

The fans in the auditorium instantly burst into laughter.

Some of them shouted loudly that this was a conspiracy, and some cursed Lockhart as if they were changing their faces.

Before the two sides could fight, the guards quickly drove them out.

The tenth courtroom returned to an eerie calm.

Fudge looked to the other side of the witness box,

"Mr. Albus Dumbledore, for what purpose did you hire Mr. Lockhart to be the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts?"

Dumbledore stood up and looked around the audience, then smiled slightly,

"Your Excellency, the presiding judge, I met an old friend by chance - the witness sitting next to me, Mr. Colbert.

Through chatting, I discovered that he had traces of the Forgetting Curse cast on him, and then I found the caster of the spell at the investiture ceremony of Sir Merlin last year."

Fudge looked at Lockhart with cold eyes, "Mr. Dumbledore, was it because of his fame at the time that you didn't report the news to the Ministry of Magic?"

Dumbledore still smiled, "Yes, Your Excellency, the presiding judge."

One gave the reasons and the other cooperated tacitly.

Next is Sprout.

According to her description, Lockhart was "delirious" at the time, and she knocked him unconscious in a panic and left.

"Mr. Wayne, please describe what you saw."

Vincent stood up straight and spoke naturally:

"Mr. Lockhart returned upstairs with his luggage, as if he did not want to be discovered.

He was hiding in the trophy room and looked scared when I saw him..."

Lockhart then knocked himself against a trophy and fainted, forcing Vincent to take him to the safety of the auditorium.

"I admit that my approach was a bit rough, but when I found Mr. Lockhart bleeding from being scratched on the floor, I stopped dragging his legs."

As for why I'm so bald...

A certain little witch who turned from pink to black is very scary and will be beaten to the hospital if she speaks out.

Fudge twitched the corner of his mouth.

On such a serious occasion, actually...

Judge Umbridge seems to have something to say.

After all, he is a child, so I won’t care about him this time.

As he sat down, Vincent blinked at Dumbledore who looked back.

Everyone cooperated as needed, it was just a matter of venting a little dissatisfaction.

Fudge adjusted his mood and asked Harry:

"Mr. Potter, you are a kidnapped student. Please tell me how you feel."

Harry stood up nervously, "He seemed to have changed into a different person at that time. He grabbed my throat hard. I thought he was particularly scary."

Fudge nodded slightly and motioned for him to sit down.

"Mr. Snape, you once had a wizard duel with Mr. Lockhart and Mr. Wayne. Do you recognize the result of a draw between the three of them?"

Snape stared at the back of Vincent's head and stood up.

It doesn't matter if you lower your own level, the key is to raise this little bastard's level.

His lips trembled, "Yes, it's a draw."

"What do you think of Mr. Lockhart's level of magic?"

It sounds pretty good to knock two of them away with one stun spell.

Snape's lips trembled again, "He attacked me and Wayne secretly. It's difficult for me to make a judgment."

"You're in a tie, right?"

He said sullenly, "Yes."

Fudge motioned for him to sit down and then looked at the jury.

The whole trial was really just a show.

Even if the diary is restored and the soul of 16-year-old Tom Riddle is resurrected, Lockhart cannot escape the fate of becoming a scapegoat.

"I now declare as the presiding judge——" Fudge looked at Lockhart with an indifferent expression again,

"Mr. Gilderoy Lockhart has been found guilty on all charges. Because the impact of several things was too bad, he will spend the rest of his life in Azkaban."
