Chapter 815 Hidden History

Longchuan was originally owned by Xiqiao. After Xiqiao's entire territory was captured by Panlong City, it was naturally incorporated into the boundaries of Panlong City.

Due to the special geographical location and historical issues, Longchuan became a major difficulty for He Lingchuan to take over as the leader of Yuheng City.

He wanted to see the Takigawa context in real history.

Being able to open up a retrospective perspective of more than a hundred years is his advantage.

When he first opened the information, he was still in a happy mood, but the more he looked through it, the more solemn his face became.

The record here was far beyond his expectation: in real history, during the period when Panlong City took over, the banditry in Longchuan was once suppressed, but it was not cured, and even intensified in the later period!

Five years after conquering the Xixi Kingdom, Panlong City had to abandon the southern trade route.

This meant that the commercial exchanges between Panlong City and Baishawan were interrupted, and the external communications that Zhong Shengguang had been thinking about almost came to nothing.

As for the reason, there is only one sentence in the county annals:

The Panlong Army was tough, which led to a civil uprising.

He Lingchuan couldn't believe it.

He originally thought that with the strength of Panlong City's army, it was only a matter of time before the Longchuan water bandits were wiped out. But history told him that this was not the case at all!

Because it was so long ago and Longchuan was a place plagued by bandits, not much was known to outsiders, and there were only a few records in the county annals.

How much thrilling, back-and-forth is hidden between the lines?

Of course, the reasons recorded above are not complete, and can even be said to be biased and one-sided. But He Lingchuan read it word for word, back and forth four or five times, and then turned to the local clan history.

History is always written by the victors. Where the victors are disdainful, official history rarely records it. Fortunately, there is always hope that family members will compile family history, and the truth will be written inadvertently.

The two family histories that He Lingchuan read were that the Zhang family was once a local squire, and the Li family was a wealthy family in Tu County. The whereabouts of these two families are unknown so far, because their family histories are hidden in a private library in Tu County.

Printed with the seal of "Lu Guan".

It can be seen that Wu Shaoyi also visited the local village sages to obtain these private collections of books.

In troubled times, there are still people in Tu County who pay attention to classics. This is He Lingchuan's luck.

Both books were in tatters and he had to read them carefully.

Wu Shaoyi had circled the part about Longchuan mentioned in the history of the Li family with a calligraphy brush.

The wording here is very bold, saying that Panlongcheng's army was extremely tough in suppressing the Longchuan water bandits and used vigorous and resolute methods. On one occasion, they went deep into the hinterland of Longchuan to suppress the bandits, and encountered fierce resistance and killed more than 600 people.

Not all of these six hundred people are water bandits!

Fighting is like this, and sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between bandits and civilians.

The local people were fierce, and what Panlongcheng's army did immediately aroused public outrage. Several major water bandits in Longchuan even united to retaliate, sneaking to the south of Yuheng City and massacring two villages.

The main residents of these two villages are Xiluo people who migrated with Panlongcheng's army.

Since then, there have been endless repressions and endless riots.

The ancestors of the Li family almost lost their lives in the fight, so they gave up their original livelihood and moved to Tu County.

He Lingchuan discovered from reading between the lines that although the history of the Li family was decorated to the extreme, the ancestor of their family probably had a background in business without capital.

The family history of the Zhang family is rather sketchy. It only records that the southern trade routes gradually withered away, and the family's papyrus business was greatly affected.

After He Lingchuan read Wu Shaoyi's annotations, he wanted to close the book and think, but he didn't want to turn over two more pages when a sentence came into view:

In the spring of the following year, the guard of Yuheng City was assassinated.

This sentence shocked him to the core.

There is no He Lingchuan in the real history of Yuheng City, so there is another person in charge of city defense. That is, after Xiao Maoliang was transferred back to Panlong City, someone else took over the position of commander.

However, the records of the Zhang family history are too simple. Does the so-called "city guard" refer to Wen Daolun who was in charge of city affairs, or the new commander in charge of city defense?

can not tell.

He Lingchuan quickly flipped through several other books from beginning to end, hoping to find the time and place of the assassination.

Unfortunately, nothing was found.

In short, an important official in Yuheng City was assassinated and died. This is probably a legacy of Takichuan's failure to eliminate bandits.

He Lingchuan threw down the book, rubbed his temples, and then picked up Wu Shaoyi's letter.

The envelope was intact and read "Your Majesty, Your Majesty." But He Lingchuan suspected that He Chunhua had already checked the letter before it could be handed over to him with confidence.

Anyway, as Wu Shaoyi was a military general, the handwriting on the envelope was not very beautiful and was easy to be counterfeited.

He opened the letter to read, originally thinking that Wu Shaoyi was telling him how difficult it was to obtain the information, but he did not expect that there was actually some useful information in the letter.

After He Chunhua defeated the main force of the southern rebels, he immediately sent Wu Shaoyi and others into Longchuan to continue the suppression of the rebel party, saying that he had completed his mission of eradicating evil.

This task is not difficult. The remnants of the rebels in Takigawa have become desperate after hearing that the main force was defeated. Once General He's army comes to suppress them, they will surrender.

Wu Shaoyi found an old water lizard over 230 years old in Longchuan.

This old monster is an aborigine from Takigawa. He does not have high magic power, but he has long lifespan and broad knowledge. He has experienced all kinds of storms and has been a local water spirit for 20 to 30 years.

When Wu Shaoyi asked, he found that the old guy was not demented yet, and he still knew everything about things that happened more than a hundred years ago. So he personally wrote and recorded a ten-page confession for the old water lizard, and finally wrote it in a letter and sent it to He Lingchuan.

These dozen pieces of paper recorded the history of Longchuan, most of which were trivial matters. He Lingchuan glanced at it and quickly extracted useful information from it:

It was previously recorded in the family history of the Zhang family that the guard of Yuheng City was assassinated.

The old water lizard remembered very clearly that this "city guard" was called Zhao Yin'an, the commander of Yuheng City.

Well, He Lingchuan scratched his chin, which means that in real history, the commander-in-chief who succeeded Xiao Maoliang in Yuheng City was Zhao Yin'an.

Further down: "After Zhao Yin'an took office, water bandits attacked Yuheng City at night, causing heavy losses to the city."

It turns out that water bandits attacking the city really happened in history and were successful?

But in Panlong World, because of He Lingchuan's participation and command, this incident had a completely opposite ending.

According to the confession of the old water lizard, Zhao Yin'an was indeed assassinated, which is consistent with the Zhang family history records. Of course, it was not at the scene and the process is unknown.

Oh, He Lingchuan is not afraid of the enemy's tricks.

He has already made a habit of it in the Panlong World and doesn't care if he does it again.

But the next sentence made his face suddenly look ugly:

The following year, Wen Daolun, the guardian of Yuheng City, also died.

He Lingchuan felt a chill in his heart, and immediately remembered that when he entered the Panlong World a few days ago, Wen Daolun mentioned to him that he had divined a dangerous hexagram.

So, Wen Daolun, like his beloved son Wen Yun, did not escape death in the end and failed to fight against fate?

This kind of destiny is the most despairing, right?
