Chapter 104 The man with the mask

In the afternoon, we started to go down the mountain. When we reached the foot of the mountain, it was almost dark. There was a car parked on the roadside. A tall and thin young man stood beside the car, smoking and looking anxiously at the intersection into the mountain.

That's my brother Li Zongbao.

"Yueyue, why did you come down the mountain? You are so anxious. I thought something happened to you." As soon as he saw me, Zong Bao came up.

"Brother Zong Bao, you seem to be the only one in the world who has a younger sister. What will happen if you play with us? Are you deliberately trying to make me angry? I also have an older brother, and my brother never cares about me.

Where are you!" Wan Hong joked with a smile.

"If your sister doesn't hurt herself, why should she wait for others to hurt her?" Zong Bao said with a smile, "Besides, Yueyue is the apple of my parents' eyes. If anything happens to her, my parents will have to expose me.

!”

"Brother Zong Bao, what if your future girlfriend and Yue Yue don't like each other?" Wan Hong asked again with a smile, a hint of cunning flashing in her eyes, "Do you not even want a girlfriend?"

"If Yue Yue doesn't like it, I don't like it either. I will only like it if Yue Yue likes it!" Zong Bao looked at Wan Hong and said seriously.

Wan Hong's face suddenly turned red.

Hearing Zong Bao's words, a sweet warmth filled my heart. I took my brother's arm and said goodbye to everyone and got in the car.

It was already evening when I got home, and under the warm light, a sumptuous dinner was already laid out on the dining table. My mother told me to wash my hands and plucked off the grass leaves on my body.

Running like crazy every day is not too tiring!"

"Mom, I saw a little rabbit on the mountain. I really want to take it back, but I'm afraid you'll scold me!" I turned around and hugged my mother's shoulders and said coquettishly.

"It's just a rabbit. Just bring it back. It's no big deal. I really like asking your brother to go to the pet market tomorrow and buy one for you!" My mother replied with a fond smile.

"It's time to eat! How old are you, and you're still acting like a spoiled child with your mother!" My dad brought the last dish to the table, took off his apron and sat down at the dining table first.

It was a very enjoyable meal. My parents kept adding vegetables to my bowl, telling me that I was too thin and needed to take more supplements. Zong Bao was not angry even though he was left out in the cold, and looked at me with a silly look on his face.

Until this moment, I truly experienced the feeling of being a palm bead.

The days passed slowly and happily like this. I was like a little bear holding a honeypot, living a simple and happy life every day.

In the blink of an eye, I graduated from college, and my parents found me a decent and high-paying job through their connections. My brother Li Zongbao and Wan Hong also fell in love. What I said at the beginning truly came true. The person I like is him.

will like it.

After graduating, Gu Xiwen became a wandering painter. He could only get together with us once in a while. Every time we met, he would happily call me "rabbit" and I would always chase him and beat him. I was still as happy as two children.

Lin Xiaohui and Chen Chen are still together. They got married, Chen Chen took over his father's company, and Lin Xiaohui became a full-time wife. She occasionally invited Zhao Fanwanhong and me to go shopping together.

Life is so wonderful!

However, occasionally when I dream back at midnight, I always feel that something is wrong, as if something extremely important has been thrown into my mind, but I can't remember it.

Every time at this time, when I turn on the light in my room, my mother will run out of her room, gently ask me if I have a nightmare, pat my back gently, and stay by my bedside watching me sleep.

Then left.

What else is there to be dissatisfied with? It seems that there is really nothing. I am used to and love this sweet life that belongs to me, and I also enjoy the love from my parents and brothers.

I am almost twenty-eight years old. My brother and Wan Hong are married and have children of their own. Lin Xiaohui and Chen Chen’s children are already good at making soy sauce, but I am still single.

Gu Xiwen also didn’t find a partner, and he was still painting his paintings all over the world. My parents and my brother thought he and I were a couple, until one day, I was drunk and was sent back by Gu Xiwen. They saw me calling him brothers.

, then I realized that I had always misunderstood my relationship with him.

My parents began to organize important events in my life. When the Chinese New Year was approaching, an old sister of my mother introduced me to a tall and handsome boy who had returned from studying abroad. His appearance, family, income, accomplishments, and knowledge were all outstanding.

Very good. In the eyes of my parents and brothers, I am the perfect match for their beloved child.

There’s really nothing to fault. The most important thing is that my parents like it, and so does my brother. As for me, do I like it? I really don’t know.

I am twenty-eight, and it seems that I have reached the age of marriage. Maybe in another year, I will be like Wan Hong and Lin Xiaohui, give birth to a lovely child, and live a peaceful and happy life.

I agreed to the returnee's proposal, and my parents started making arrangements for our marriage. Our two families lived not far away, and the new house was bought in the best community in the city center. The wedding was scheduled after the Lantern Festival.

During the Lantern Festival, our annual lantern festival here began. Lin Xiaohui took her children and invited me to watch the lanterns together. When it was getting dark, we went out after dinner.

The road was crowded with people. A wire rope was stretched high on the street, and it was covered with colorful lights. A newly decorated pickup truck drove slowly among the crowds, and its body was surrounded by huge billboards with festive patterns on all sides to form a square shape.

The moving castle is decorated with neon lights and loud music.

People were laughing and saying blessings to each other, and their faces were shining with joy under the lanterns. It was all so beautiful that it was almost unreal. I suddenly fell into a trance, and the melancholy of forgetting important things welled up in my heart again.

Maybe this is what people call premarital phobia, I thought.

Suddenly I felt like I was being watched closely. I looked around, and all I could see were the dazzling lanterns and people's excited faces. Finally, my eyes fell on a sycamore tree by the roadside.

The sycamore tree was hung with shining star lights. The light strings hung densely from the tree to the ground, like a sparkling waterfall. Under the tree stood a man, wearing unsuitable black clothes and a smile on his face.

Wearing a silver mask, his face cannot be seen.

That person just stood under the tree and stared at me quietly. Even if he met my eyes, he had no intention of turning away. Only a pair of bright eyes were exposed under the silver mask, and the light in those eyes was no more shining than that of the tree.

Any star that hangs down is dim.

My heart started beating wildly, and my feet even began to tremble violently. An inexplicable excitement suddenly overtook me, making me so nervous that I could hardly breathe.

We just looked at each other for an unknown amount of time, then there was a loud "bang" sound, and a firework suddenly exploded in the sky, followed by the second and third firework. I raised my feet and walked stiffly in front of him, but he still looked like that.

I am motionless.

I slowly raised my hand, trying to lift the mask off his face.
