Chapter 18 Admission

I found myself back in Liuqiao Village, surrounded by thick fog. I ran as hard as I did when I was eight years old, with only one thought in my mind: I wanted to find my fourth uncle and grandma.

The thick fog gradually dissipated, and a figure dressed in black finally appeared not far ahead.

"Milk--"

I cried and shouted, watching the figure go further and further away.

My fourth uncle and grandma finally turned around, but I found that I couldn't see her face clearly.

"Nanny!" Fourth uncle and grandma said, "Go back. You have to listen to your dad, study hard, take good care of yourself, and don't let grandma worry."

"Nai, please take me with you. Nai, wait for me!" I started running forward again, but found that I couldn't get past it.

"Nanny, you still have a long way to go. If you remember grandma, you must wear that piece of jade on your eighteenth birthday, and don't show it to anyone before you are twenty, ah?" Grandma said, and her body gradually disappeared.

In thick fog.

"Milk, don't go-" I cried and shouted.

"Sister, sister, are you awake? Sister?"

I opened my eyes and Zong Bao's face appeared in front of me.

I found myself lying on the bed. There was no one else in the room except Zong Bao. He looked at me with a worried look on his face.

My face was wet and cold, full of tears. At this moment, I suddenly understood that my fourth uncle and grandma were dead, and from now on, I was the only one left.

I wiped a handful on my face randomly and looked at Zong Bao, "Zong Bao, how long have I been sleeping? Where is my milk?"

"You've been sleeping for three days, and my dad and I are worried to death."

Seeing that I was silent, Zong Bao then said hesitantly: "My fourth uncle and grandma sent her ashes to the funeral parlor. My father said there was no place to put her ashes, so he sent her ashes to the countryside."

"Are they leaving? I also want to send my milk back together." I got up, put on my shoes and walked out.

"Hey, your health is not good yet. My dad asked me to keep an eye on you and don't run away." Zong Bao shouted from behind.

I ignored him.

After running out of the Tongzi Building, firecrackers were being set off in the yard, and a minivan was slowly driving out.

"Milk!" I ran after the car, and my intuition told me that my fourth uncle's grandma was in that car.

The car stopped slowly, and my dad stuck his head out from the passenger side and looked at me: "Nanny, are you awake?"

"I want to send my milk back too!" I said to my dad.

My dad was stunned, nodded, reached out to open the rear door, and motioned for me to get in the car.

A simple black box was lying alone in the back seat of the van. My eyes instantly felt sore. That was my dearest fourth uncle and grandma!

I jumped in the car and hugged the box tightly into my arms. My eyes and nose were sore. I held back, fearing that I would accidentally drop tears on the box.

The van drove out of the gate of the cotton spinning factory and drove all the way to Liuqiao Village. My dad seemed to have said something to me on the way, but I didn't answer him.

My father did not treat my fourth uncle and grandma badly. He found someone to hold a simple and decent funeral in Liuqiao Village, put the urn in the coffin, and buried my fourth uncle and grandma in peace.

Three days later, when everything was settled, my dad asked me to go back to the county with him, but I refused. I wanted to stay with my fourth uncle and grandma for a while longer and ask him to pick me up when school started.

My dad wasn't worried, but when he saw that I persisted, he didn't force it any further.

The days passed quickly. During the day, I went to the grave of my fourth uncle and grandma to talk to her. I went to bed very early at night. I wanted to dream about my fourth uncle and grandma.

For two whole months, I didn't dream about her once.

In September, my dad came to Liuqiao Village again, this time to take me back to the county to go to school.

I felt very sad, but knowing that my fourth uncle’s and grandma’s biggest wish was for me to successfully enter college, I finally returned to the county.

I still live in Tongzilou, but the difference is that my fourth uncle and grandma used to live together, but now I live alone.

After school started, I applied to live on campus. Of course my mom wanted it, but my dad didn't have any objections. He said he was busy with work and let me go to school by myself.

Zong Bao, on the other hand, came early in the morning on the day of registration and took the initiative to help me deliver daily necessities to school. He also led me to some classmates in the second and third grade of high school, told them that I was his sister, and asked them to protect me from now on.

My impression of Zong Bao has always been that he is arrogant, unreliable and loves to cause trouble. But I have to say that he is quite popular in school. His classmates in the second and third grade of high school are very fond of him. One of the girls in the third grade of high school,

My name is Chen Yao. It is said that she is the president of the dormitory management committee. She even took me to the dormitory in person and chose a top bunk for me by the window. The location of our dormitory is very good. I can see it with one side of my face while lying on the bed.

The view of the school playground and botanical garden is very good.

There are three beds and six bunks in the dormitory. When I went there, three people had already arrived. A fat girl had already settled in my lower bunk. When she saw Chen Yao putting my things on the upper bunk, she hurriedly said

: "Oh, there's already someone in that bunk, I'll take it first."

Chen Yao glanced at her and said, "It's still an empty bunk without anything on it. I occupied this bunk last year!"

After that, I continued to put my things up.

The fat girl opened her mouth to speak, but a girl next to her gently poked her arm, pulled her aside, and the two of them whispered something quietly.

The fat girl returned to her bed sullenly, glanced at me bitterly, and stopped talking.

There was no class in the afternoon, so after dinner in the cafeteria, I lay on the bed and continued to read the few books left for me by Grandpa Xiu Cai.

After so many years, I can almost memorize these books, but I still don’t quite understand the meaning of them, so I take them out and read them when I have time. It has almost become a habit.

Several other classmates also came one after another. The last one who came last looked like a rich girl from a good family. She was tall and thin, with fair skin, a pointed face and big eyes. She was wearing a white dress and a pair of Nike sneakers. She looked pretty.

pretty.

Behind her were two aunties who helped her carry things.

"Chen Shanshan!" The fat girl rushed up to her as soon as she saw her, pointed to my bed and said, "That was the bed I occupied for you, but she took it away."

Chen Shanshan raised her eyes and glanced at me. Seeing that I had no reaction, she said lightly: "Just grab it. I may not live forever. Why do you care about everyone?"

The sound was not loud, but the smell of gunpowder was very strong. The originally lively dormitory was silent for a few seconds.

I still ignored them and turned a page of the book in my hand.

In the quiet dormitory, the sound of turning books was particularly loud.

"Everyone is here, let's introduce ourselves! My name is Li Yang, and I am the dormitory leader of this dormitory. From now on, we will be sisters in the same dormitory. I hope everyone can get along well and strive to get the banner of civilized dormitory.

"A girl with a round face and a somewhat sturdy figure spoke up to break the awkward atmosphere.

"My name is Yuan Xiaodan, and her name is Chen Shanshan. We are classmates in junior high school."

The fat girl spoke first, and her name was quite similar to her figure.

"My name is Li Xueyan."

"My name is Zhao Fan."
