Chapter 7: Underground Devil's Den

"Could it be that the hounds were mistaken?"

Yin Wa looked at the "landlord" with suspicion in her eyes.

The hound saw that Yin Wa did not trust his own judgment, so he opened his eyes angrily and bared his teeth, but did not roar loudly, as if he was afraid of alarming the guards in the house.

"The landlord is very smart and won't bring us here for no reason. Anyway, there are no other clues now. Why not try to sneak into the Lucas family's mansion and search it secretly with a hound? Maybe there will be unexpected gains."

Gao Fei's suggestion was agreed by Jiang Feng and Yin Wa.

Next, Gao Fei first blessed himself and his companions with the "Advanced Invisibility Technique", and then used the "Any Door" to teleport everyone directly to the inside of the wall, into a dense bush.

Everyone crouched in the bushes and waited until the patrolling guards were far away before they crept out.

The hound led the way, sniffing and stopping all the way, bypassing the row houses where people lived, and did not stop near the big house where the Lucas family lived. They went all the way to the garden behind the courtyard and stopped in front of the entrance to the wine cellar.

Come down.

Based on the lingering smell on the grass, Martin seemed to have been dragged into the underground wine cellar by the kidnappers.

Jiang Feng stepped forward to pry open the wine cellar door and explore the way first.

Gao Fei and Yin Wa followed with their hounds, walking down the moss-covered bluestone stairs to the depths of the wine cellar.

Jiang Feng cast a spell to light up the "Dancing Lights", illuminating the dark cellar. A long corridor stretched straight forward, with neat wooden shelves on both sides, stacked with oak barrels.

At the end of the corridor is an iron door with complex runes engraved on it.

After checking it, Gao Fei confirmed that the door was blessed with "secret lock" and "magic alarm", so he used a "dispersion technique" to temporarily suppress the magic effect on the door and successfully pry open the iron door.

Opposite the iron door is an empty basement with only one staircase leading to the upper floor.

It looked like an empty house that had been abandoned for many years. Two lines of messy footprints were clearly visible on the dusty floor, as well as tracks left by dragging heavy objects, which were obviously left not long ago.

The hound lowered his head and sniffed the remaining traces on the floor, then let out a low whine and turned to look at Gao Fei and Jiang Feng, with worry in his eyes.

"It seems we have found the right place." Jiang Feng said, "The hounds smelled Martin's breath from the tracks on the floor. It can be seen that when he was taken here by the kidnappers, he had lost the ability to walk and did not struggle.

The sign is that he was probably knocked unconscious by the kidnappers with a stick, stuffed into a sack and dragged away."

"It seems that little Lucas was indeed involved in this kidnapping, either personally participating or instigating it behind the scenes, and the Happy Hall ticket he gave to me and Martin before was probably a bait," Gao Fei said.

Make bold guesses based on existing clues.

"This possibility cannot be ruled out, but there is still a key issue that cannot be explained." Yin Wa questioned, "Little Lucas is one of the richest people in the city, the leader in the shipping insurance industry, and the 'City Hunter' detective agency has not offended

Instead of passing him by, he helped him deal with a difficult situation. What reason does little Lucas have to repay kindness with enmity?"

Gao Fei and Jiang Feng silently thought about the question raised by Yin Wa, but couldn't figure it out.

The silence lasted for a long time until Yin Wa spoke again.

"You still remember, the note handed over by the kidnapper was signed with the emblem of the Blood Anchor Gang. If little Lucas was involved in the conspiracy to kidnap Martin, wouldn't it mean... this man has been denounced many times in public?

The Blood Anchor Gang, a millionaire who also raised money to help Commissioner Gordon crack down on crime, is he secretly a group with the Blood Anchor Gang?"

Yin Wa's rhetorical question actually reminded Gao Fei and Jiang Feng, and their eyes suddenly lit up, as if a lot of fog had been cleared away.

"Yes! Why didn't I think of that?" Jiang Feng couldn't help but get excited, "The leader of the Blood Anchor Gang, the mysterious man codenamed 'Boss', could it be little Lucas? If this guess is true, everything will be explained.

It’s clear!”

Gao Fei nodded lightly and said thoughtfully: "When we were hired by Little Lucas to go to the magic crystal mine he invested in to investigate the source of the mysterious disappearance of the miners, we were ambushed by gangsters on the way and were almost killed. At that time, I felt

Strange, why did the Blood Anchor Gang know that we were going to the mine and set up an ambush in advance? Who leaked the news?"

"Afterwards, we investigated for a long time, but we still couldn't find the guy who tipped off the information. Thinking back, if little Lucas was the leader of the Blood Anchor Gang, hiring us to investigate the miners was just a pretense, but in fact, he secretly set an ambush to try to get us there.

Killed in the mine, these doubts will be explained."

"The problem is that we all know that the Blood Anchor Gang is a die-hard ally of the Raging Tide Pirates, specializing in providing sales services for materials looted by pirates, while the Lucas family runs a shipping insurance business and has to provide services for those who have been looted by pirates.

The cargo ships provide huge insurance compensation, which is the most reason to hate pirates."

Yin Wa raised another question.

"Assuming that little Lucas is really the backstage boss of the Blood Anchor Gang, how could he allow pirates to rob the ships insured by his company and suffer losses in vain based on his relationship with the pirates?"

Gao Fei rubbed his chin and pondered for a while, and suddenly thought of a possibility.

"Lucas is not the only shipping insurance company in Binhai City. Other small and medium-sized companies, once their contracted ships are plundered by pirates, they can only pay the compensation through gritted teeth. If they can't afford the compensation, they can only go bankrupt and close down. Correspondingly

In comparison, the Lucas family company has the strongest financial resources and the best reputation for claims settlement. If you were a ship owner, which company would you choose to insure?"

"Continuing to deduce this idea, if the Lucas family insurance company secretly colludes with the pirates, the goods looted by the pirates will be sent to the black market through the Blood Anchor Gang under the control of young Lucas to sell the stolen goods, and use the stolen money to offset part of the claims.

Jin, little Lucas's loss is not big, and he also did advertisements to enhance his goodwill. This business is a sure profit."

"As expected of a detective, Mr. Wayne, your analysis sounds reasonable, but it still lacks solid evidence."

Yin Wa shrugged and spread her hands, not completely convinced by Gao Fei.

"That's why we have to continue to pursue it. If Martin can be successfully rescued, we may be able to learn more criminal evidence from him about little Lucas colluding with gangs and pirates."

Before Jiang Feng finished speaking, the impatient hound waiting beside him had already run towards the stairs.

As soon as I stepped onto the stairs, a kacha sound suddenly came from the hound's feet.

Gao Fei's heart trembled, and he hurriedly called to the hound: "Landlord! Come back quickly!"

The hound's reaction was not slow. When he noticed something unusual moving under his feet, he immediately rolled on the spot.

Almost at the same time, the ceiling above the stairs opened up, and a fishing net with a fishhook dropped down. A dense collection of steel cones popped up from the stairs, each one a foot long. The sharp cone tips shone with a blue luster, clearly smeared.

Extremely poisonous!
