The moss-covered deck is very slippery and has a steep slope. If you are not careful, you will fall and roll all the way to the stern.
Gao Fei and Jiang Feng reminded each other to be more careful and slowed down to approach the cabin.
The cabin door has become rotten, and when you look inside through the cracks, you see an eerie, dark hole that makes your scalp numb inexplicably.
At this moment, Gao Fei received a system prompt and learned that the interior of the cabin was dimly lit, and creatures without dark vision needed fire lighting, otherwise they would have disadvantages in Perception and attack rolls.
Basaka carries a torch with him. When lit, it can provide 20 feet of illumination, but it will also make himself a very conspicuous target in the dark.
"It would be great if we were elves or dwarves, born with dark vision."
Jiang Feng also felt that it was a bit scary to explore in the pitch-black cabin.
Gao Fei held a torch and stood outside the open cabin door. He thought silently for a moment, then turned to Jiang Feng and said, "I thought about it again. What you said makes sense. The black bear's escape before the battle was probably an unnoticeable foreshadowing, hinting that something was lurking in the cabin."
We are facing a very dangerous enemy, we can't just rush in like that, otherwise we may fall into a trap."
"Is this the way a novelist thinks?" Jiang Feng teased with a half-smile, "Why don't you wait outside, and I'll go in first to explore the way."
Gao Fei shook his head: "If you think about the horror movie formula, in this kind of ghost place, splitting up is a taboo. I plan to spend a beam of astrolabe energy to disperse the fog in the cabin and see what monsters are hidden inside."
"
"There are only 4 channels of astrolabe energy every day. You used 1 channel when you brought me in before, and you will use 1 more channel to explore the path. Then there will only be two opportunities to load files. Is this okay?" Jiang Feng was worried.
Asked by the ground.
"Let's try to pass the level once and get the best reward!"
Gao Fei barely pretended to be confident.
"Okay! Just do as you say!" Jiang Feng was infected by him and seemed to have high fighting spirit.
After the two discussed it, Gao Fei extracted an astrolabe energy and tried to remotely detect the situation inside the cabin.
"What did you see?" Jiang Feng asked impatiently.
"It seems to be zombies... There are no less than ten zombies dressed as sailors hiding in the dark corners of the cabin."
Gao Fei wiped away the cold sweat.
Jiang Feng couldn't help but turn pale when he heard what he said.
After a few seconds of silence, he pretended to be calm and said: "If there are only low-level undead creatures like zombies in the cabin, then there is nothing to be afraid of. Yang Yanzong's martial arts are specially designed to restrain the undead."
"It's Sumo who's not afraid of zombies, not you Jiang Nuxia."
Gao Fei complained in his heart, but he still had to pretend to be a man.
"When fighting zombies, we switch to a God's perspective and strip away the immersive horror. This is just an ordinary game. There is nothing to be afraid of."
Jiang Feng stubbornly shook his head and said seriously: "I don't like this kind of cheating. You can't solve the problem by avoiding it. Only by facing your fear can you defeat it."
What she said made sense, and Gao Fei was speechless.
"Anyway, let's take a look at the investigation report first."
Gao Fei opened the astrolabe database and dug out the zombie data just included in the "Monster Manual".
…
·Zombie Sailor
Challenge level: 1/4 (50xp)
Neutral evil, Medium undead
Health: 30 (3×8/full dice of undead health; Health 6)
Special abilities: undead characteristics, damage reduction 5/slashing, health (health value 2hd)
…
Zombies are one of the lowest undead creatures. Their challenge level is only 1/4, their movement speed is very slow, and their agility attributes are extremely low. The safest tactic to deal with them is "flying kites".
However, the zombie sailors were hiding in the cabin and could not come out, and the narrow space inside the cabin was not suitable for swimming. Gao Fei and Jiang Feng had no choice but to rush in and push the zombies flatly.
The special reconnaissance effect obtained by spending the energy of the astrolabe can only last for a short minute. Gao Fei has no time to carefully check the facilities inside the cabin, but only roughly notes the areas where zombies are distributed.
Not far from the hatch, there were two zombies lying on each of the two hammocks. Only when they smelled the scent of living creatures would they slowly climb down from the hammocks and join the battle.
Of course, Gao Fei would not give them a chance to calmly prepare for the battle. After entering the cabin, he immediately joined forces with Jiang Feng to launch a surprise attack. He rushed to the hammock on the left side with a single stride, picked up a big stick and hit the head with a bang, bang bang bang, and beat him violently.
The zombie's head was beaten to pieces, and he lay motionless in the hammock.
Not far away, a dazzling flash of light suddenly erupted.
Jiang Feng's monk hit a "Sun Fist", sending the zombie who had just sat up from the hammock flying into the air, hitting the bulkhead and rebounding, and was decapitated by the flashing dagger swung by Jiang Feng's right hand.
Although "Sun Fist" has the word "fist" in it, it can actually be used on monk weapons such as clubs and short swords, and can also add 2d6 radiant damage.
Jiang Feng's gorgeous "Sun Sword" move luckily triggered a critical hit, doubling the damage. After harvesting the remaining 15 HP points of the zombie sailor, there was still a lot of damage left over.
Gao Fei held up a torch with his left hand and a big stick stained with blood in his right hand. He walked up to Jiang Feng and reminded in a low voice: "There are still a lot of zombies on the ship, so save your energy."
"Well, I was a little overreacted just now." Jiang Nuxia stuck out her tongue in embarrassment, "It was the first time in my life that I met a living zombie, so I was inevitably a little nervous."
"Used to it."
Gao Fei held a torch and explored the way ahead. Following the impression he had made when he used the astrolabe to investigate, he turned into a corridor leading to the captain's cabin.
When they reached the middle of the corridor, there was a sudden muffled sound behind them. When they looked back, they saw several figures with claws and teeth breaking through the decayed bulkhead and rushing into the corridor, cutting off the escape route of the two of them.
"There are five zombies blocking the road behind!" Jiang Feng's voice was slightly trembling.
The operation mode adopted by Gao Fei was "God's Perspective" and he could see more clearly than Jiang Feng. Just as he was about to comfort her not to be afraid, the heavy shuffling footsteps of zombies were also heard from the other end of the corridor.
Looking through the torchlight, I saw several swaying ghost figures gathering towards me.
"There are also five zombies at the exit of the corridor. It seems that only by getting rid of them all can we break through the siege." Gao Fei said.
"I'll leave the zombies at the front to you, try to block them as much as possible." Jiang Feng quickly regained his composure, "I'll seize the time to kill the zombies chasing after me, and then free up my hands to help you."

For the professions and monsters involved in the book, I made modifications based on reference to DND 3 and 5 editions.
In fact, many of the changes are so drastic that they have almost nothing to do with the original version.
I will introduce the monster data as the story progresses. As for the professions, every time the protagonist gets a new profession, I will post the corresponding settings in the work related section.
The two initial professions updated today are Gao Fei's "Berserker" and Jiang Feng's "Warrior Monk (Yangyan Sect)".
