Chapter 101: Entering the Ice Ring Lake

From the liberation of Holy Ax Town in the last chapter to now, a full year has passed in the game.

During this year, Basaka, with the strong support of his father-in-law Sigel, led the liberated Olaf tribe to rebuild Holy Ax Town and build it into a base camp for the resistance against "Ice Tower Warlock" Gelmir.

News about the "Heir to the Holy Axe" Basaka Olaf quickly spread throughout Jotunheim.

From the Great Glacier to the East Coast, all the Aesir tribesmen who had been oppressed by the frost giants seemed to have been given a shot in the arm. Under the call of the new chief of the Olaf tribe, they all participated in the uprising against the brutal rule of Gelmir.

During this time, the flames of war raged across the land of Jotunheim.

Seeing that the time was ripe, Sigel and Basaka's son-in-law issued a call to the leaders of the Asa tribes, urging the chiefs to each lead an elite army to cooperate with the joint forces of the Wali tribe and the Olaf tribe.

Siege the Ice Tower Fortress.

We must strive to succeed in one battle, overthrow the rule of the frost giants, and win complete liberation for all Asa compatriots.

This impassioned appeal received unanimous response from all tribes.

In the blink of an eye, in September of this year, the Olaf Corps led by Basaka and the Vali Corps commanded by Sigel met with the troops led by the other three tribal chiefs on the banks of the Ice Ring Lake to discuss the battle plan.

Logically speaking, with the coalition forces having superior strength and high morale, they should launch a siege as soon as possible before winter arrives.

Gelmir and his subordinates, the Frost Giants, Sky-Swinging Centaurs, and White Dragons, are all cold subspecies creatures that are naturally resistant to severe cold. This war was delayed until the weather turned cold and the roads were blocked by heavy snow before they tried to conquer the Ice Tower Fortress.

will become impractical.

All the coalition generals understood this obvious truth, but they delayed it at this critical moment.

The problem lies in two aspects.

First of all, the "White Dragon Queen" Sonia Shuangming from the north, an important ally of the Asa coalition, originally agreed to lead 100 young white dragons to help in the battle in late September.

It is now the end of September, and Sonia's troops still have not arrived.

Basaka entrusted Eve and wrote countless letters urging her to fulfill her promise. The cunning White Dragon Queen always found excuses to evade, which really made people doubt her sincerity.

Without Sonia's troops, the tribal coalition currently only has 50 white dragons at its disposal.

These white dragons eat a lot of food and enjoy every meal, which puts a lot of pressure on the army's logistical supplies.

White dragons are rebellious by nature. Except for Basaka Olaf, no one in the coalition army can subdue these evil dragons. They will fight and cause trouble at the slightest dissatisfaction, which has become a major hidden danger in the army.

There is another more difficult problem, which is the conflict between the top leaders of the tribal coalition.

Except for Chief Siegel, who supports his son-in-law, the other three respected old chiefs are uneasy about the young Basaka and doubt whether he has enough courage and wisdom to lead the coalition forces.

When the chiefs met, serious disagreements occurred because of the formulation of the battle plan.

Basaka hoped to launch an offensive as soon as possible.

The three old chiefs advocated a steady approach and tried to avoid unnecessary casualties.

At least they refused to launch a full-scale offensive until Queen Sonia's white dragon troops arrived.

The opinions of both sides were sharply opposed, and no one could convince the other, and the result was that they broke up unhappy.

The command within the coalition forces cannot be unified, and they are like a piece of scattered sand.

At present, only the Vali tribe and the Olaf tribe are absolutely loyal to Basaka, and other tribes are still waiting and watching.

This situation looked familiar to Gao Fei.

Co-authored the Eighteen Route Princes' Attack against Dong Zhuo, right?

This is not a good sign!

In fact, the concerns of the three old chiefs are not unreasonable.

The coalition forces have superior strength on paper, but there is a weak link: insufficient air power.

On the opposite side of the ice tower fortress, there are hundreds of white dragons stationed, firmly controlling the air on the battlefield.

The coalition forces have lost air supremacy. The enemy's White Dragon reconnaissance team has been hovering above their heads all day long. All the formations are clearly visible. How should we fight this battle?

Before Basaka could figure it out, Gelmir took action first.

Through the intelligence provided by the White Dragon Reconnaissance Team, the Ice Tower Warlock has discovered the shortcomings of the tribal alliance, and immediately ordered his general Schroeder to seize the opportunity to take the initiative!

Germier and Schroeder's purpose is clear.

Taking advantage of the fact that the tribal coalition forces had not unified their thinking, they stormed the positions on the south bank where the Olaf tribe and the Vali tribe were stationed.

As long as these two regiments loyal to Barsaka are crippled, the other barbarian chiefs who adapt to the wind will surely lose the courage to resist and surrender to the frost giants.

The first to attack were the White Dragon Corps under Gelmir.

Hundreds of white dragons hovered over the battlefield, blocking out the sky and the sun, exuding a suffocating dragon power.

By 9 a.m., the ground troops stationed by the ice tower side of the lake also began to move forward.

Basaka received the tip and immediately guessed Gelmir's intention.

With these two corps in hand, it is difficult to withstand the all-out counterattack of the ice tower army.

Basaka quickly ordered his beloved wife and chief staff officer Eve Vali to quickly send a letter to the White Dragon Queen Sonia, urging her to lead the White Dragon troops to come to the rescue as soon as possible.

In addition, Basaka also asked Eve to write a letter to the three old chiefs stationed on the north shore of Ice Ring Lake, urging them to lead their 3,000 Asa hunting horses and come quickly for reinforcements!

Eve first wrote four letters by hand, then copied them with magic, made them in triplicate, and gave them to her druid staff.

The druids sorted the letters into categories and then cast spells to summon "animal messengers".

Not long after, 12 ravens landed on the desk at the headquarters.

The druids tied the letters to the legs of each raven and ordered the birds to fly to the recipients at full speed.

The 3-level "SMS" scrolls had been used up, and Eve's druid team had to settle for the next best thing and use the relatively cheaper 2-level "Animal Messenger" to convey letters.

But there are two hidden dangers in doing this.

The first is that the efficiency of communication is not high enough.

No matter how fast the crow flies, it cannot compare with the "short message technology" that can be transmitted instantly.

Sending letters to allies stationed on the north shore of Ice Ring Lake is okay, it can be delivered in half an hour at most.

However, it would take at least half a day to fly across the ice-ringed lake and the vast wilderness to deliver a message to the White Dragon Queen in the great glacier in the north.

This is assuming everything goes well.

If the raven messenger is shot down by an enemy sentry during flight, or is preyed upon by a bird of prey, the letter will be lost.

It is precisely to avoid the above-mentioned accidents that every important long-distance letter sent by the headquarters must be sent with several backup copies, just in case.

Of course, this approach also increases the possibility of the letter being intercepted by the enemy.

Unfortunately, the military situation is urgent and I can no longer care about so much.
